A Poem About My Greatest Fear in Life 2007-05-20 21:15:01 The photo in this entry is Twirling Petals. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I just wrote the following poem. It has been a while since I've produced poetry, but I needed to get this out and express my mind. This poem is not meant to be understood by the majority of people. However vague it may be, it is all I can convey through the matrix within my mind. Its about the greatest fear that haunts me every single day. I hope that in reading this, you gain a greater perspective of me, and a little more insight about who I am.Lost Within My Own WorldThough the world continues onBlind to the inevitable dangersYet not questioning the obviousI strive to keep safeFrom the ideas of an endI once had faith in having controlBut I believed in a false realityBecoming paranoid from pursuitJust to make me see how unawareI was of the strings clinging from meSo as I live my life imagingA happily ever afterI hold onto my precious sanityRealizing how I have always knownThat I was never meant t Read more:Greatest
My Standard of Service As a Photographer 2007-05-24 13:50:57 The photo in this entry is My True Colors. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I was speaking with a friend when the question came up whether to make prints of the photographs I would be taking for some future clients. At first I was fine with it, then I changed my mind. My friend thought I was crazy.I thought it was fine to go ahead and produce the prints for clients because that is ultimately what they want, something tangible to remember the event by. Although I have increasingly noticed that many photographers today don't produce prints for the client anymore. Instead, they put the photos on a CD and give it to the client. Many times without having the photos edited.I don't really think that doing that is very professional, but I don't consider myself quite the professional yet. I have only done a handful of photo shoots and never had to produce prints. Although, everyone I have done photography for are people that are close to me and don't expect that level of servic Read more:Standard

My Latest Photo Shoot 2007-05-23 18:19:57 The photo in this entry is Enjoying Your Company. Photo
graphed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.A few days ago I did a photo shoot with my brother and his fiancee at the Los Angeles County Arboretum. It was a fun, interesting, and enjoyable experience. Although photographing them was rigorous at times, I managed to perform better than I expected. The shoot was meant to portray them as a couple before they get married in September.I used a Nikon D50 for the shoot. Although I was not very professional in not using a tripod, carrying case, or extra equipment; I got the job done beautifully nonetheless. The Arboretum is quite large, so I had quite an exercise throughout the shoot. I followed them to every spot they wanted to be photographed and even managed to improvise with one of the peacocks walking around.Shoot
ing at the arboretum was really nice, and just being in the atmosphere was magical. The whole place was just so picturesque. Even though the day started out cloudy, when it came

Review My Blog for a Linkback and a Chance to Win a Prize 2007-05-27 22:38:33 The photo in this entry is Flying Solo. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I have been seeking reviews of my blog from other bloggers for a while now, but most campaigns require a pretty penny to manage. I don't have loads of money to spend on expensive review campaigns, especially if they are not the best quality anyway. So I thought it would be easier to offer link exchange for participants and a prize for the best review.Review my blog, and in return I will link to your review. The review must meet the following requirements: contain at least 700 words, include a link to my blog and this post (you may link to any other additional posts if you wish), be honest; stating your likes and dislikes about my blog, remain archived on your blog, be written in English, and have at least the following areas reviewed: blog design, navigation, and content quality.Once you have posted your review on your own blog, send me an email with the URL to your review. Practicing Mindless Eating 2007-05-26 10:37:34 The photo in this entry is Free To Be. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I recently learned about a neat way to control your eating portions by tricking your mind into thinking you are eating more than you actually are. All it takes is different dish sizes and some experimentation. Like they say, its all in your head. ;)Its better to eat from smaller plates, drink from taller skinnier glasses, and snack from smaller bags. Its kind of a myth to know when you are actually full. Its better to fool your mind into thinking you are eating bigger portions when in actuality you're eating healthier ones. You'd drink about half as much of a beverage if it was served in a tall skinny glass rather than a regular short one. Your eyes perceive that you are drinking more than you should. It actually turns out being the right amount. I'd definitely try this sine I'm not much a water drinker. You would save a lot of money as well by taste testing with brands of your favorite beverages an
My Hiking Adventure 2007-05-25 20:55:05 The photo in this entry is Wary Lizard. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.Yesterday I went on a hiking adventure up a trail at a place called Hellman's Park. It was a pretty nice experience and I managed to get some good shots even with a dying camera battery. I went when the heat of the day was at a peak, but it paid off. I loved being there so much that I'm planning on going on a weekly basis. As I started out on one of the trails which zigzags up a large hill, I realized how much of a workout it was to travel throughout it. It could have just been that I'm pretty out of shape, but I know if I return on a weekly basis and hike for at least an hour, I'll shed pounds in no time.Although I only traveled on one trail there were others which were frequented by mountain bikers as well as joggers. Just in my location, I managed to get some really awesome views of eagles and deer. I also spotted lizards; like the one pictured in this entry, white-tailed rabbit, hummingbirds, a Read more:Hiking

A Comparison Between PayPerPost Direct and the Competition 2007-05-30 16:13:49 The photo in this entry is Ornamental. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.Although I have not been with PayPerPost
for long, I do believe they are the better choice when it comes to providing the best monetary compensation and opportunities for publishers and advertisers. I recently got approved for PayPerPost Direct
, one of their new tool features. Since its launch, it has blown the competition out of the water for its simplicity and fair compensation.PayPerPost Direct has been the leader in compensating publishers for blogging about what they love. Competitors like ReviewMe charge over half markup and keep up to half of your money. Others are simply too demanding on your efforts for compensation. Not PayPerPost, they simplify the process of taking up opportunities as well as advertising them. With PayPerPost Direct it is even easier to offer individual opportunities right on the blogger's blog. As a blogger, PayPerPost Direct enables you more freedom to set your own pric

Get Your MySpace Profile Customized to Your Liking 2007-05-29 02:03:51 The photo in this entry is Buzzing In. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I have been a member of MySpace
for over two years. I began with a regular template profile. You know, that plain tri-colored one that everyone starts out with? At first, I was unaware for a while about being able to customize my profile. So when I sought to do so, I became excited about the possibilities. I set out to customize my profile a few hundred times and never seemed to settle on anything. And so my skills in editing profiles developed. I gained a passion for editing code because I'm such a perfectionist.I never had more than 50 friends on MySpace, I knew every one of my friends on a personal basis. As my profile evolved and became better and better looking with the customizations I made, I gained praise for my work and became known for my skills by word of mouth. I no longer relied on cookie cutter templates, all of the code on my profile was from scratch.I have spent countless hours learni
My Participation in the 1001 Journals Project 2007-06-02 23:59:52 The photo in this entry is Her Royal Highness. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I signed up to be a part of 1001 Journals
a few months ago. I got in line to receive and send a traveling journal just to see what that was like. It was finally my turn to get it a few days ago, so I was pretty excited. I made my contribution and sent it out to the next person. Then I went online with the inspiration to begin my own traveling journals.Since I have a few blank journals laying around, I thought I could put them to better use by letting them travel the country collecting snippets of people who make entries in them. I just sent out two journals that I started with the first traveling journal I received. The traveling journal I contributed to was Journal 1704, an art journal which is meant to be contributed to by a handful of people. You can view my entry here. The traveling journals I began are Journal 1952 and 1955. Journal 1952 is a journal in which anything of writing or art can Read more:Participation

How I Feel About Parenting 2007-06-02 20:03:47 The photo in this entry is Taking A Sip. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I grew up with a lot of love from my mother. She always made sure I felt loved by her no matter how bad family situations got. Although I did not notice it until recently, it has taught me a very valuable lesson about how to love your children.I am not a mother, but I have strong opinions about parenting and a tremendous love for children. I have seen too many examples of children being neglected, ignored, abused, and used. Sometimes I feel hurt by it, other times I feel angry. It makes me want to go to the parent and knock some sense into them. Even if they are not my child, I feel quite protective of them.Throughout my adolescence I had a fascination with little children. I could see their innocence and wonder at their ability to be so forgiving. Since then I have had a great respect for them. Within the same time frame, most of my female friends had children too early. I watched some of the childr Read more:Parenting
The Measure of True Faith 2007-06-02 03:12:45 The photo in this entry is To Guard Your Heart. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I recently listened to someone describe the benefits of having true faith in God. By their definition strong faith is not to meekly ask a request of God, but to already know that your prayer will manifest. In other words, tell God what He's going to do or give, instead of asking and hoping for it.When I heard that, it made sense, even if it sounded a bit prideful. Miracles happen out of great faith. Perhaps that is why the miracles I have witnessed and experienced were a result of the greatest faith I have observed or felt. As it says in the Bible; Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.I have never perceived faith in such a way, taking command like that. Taking My Photography to the Next Level 2007-06-05 00:24:53 The photo in this entry is In Awe. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I just bought a copy of the Photoshop CS2 Bible. I went to Borders to buy a different book, but since they did not have it, I took a look around. Although I saw several other books about Photoshop, I picked this one because I was confident I would get everything I could out of it. It's quite a tome.I know Photoshop CS3 is out already, but I'm not upgrading until I have an established knowledge about the version I currently own. I don't want to get ahead of myself. The book cost me about $40, a really good investment for what I want to learn. I'll most likely read just a few pages a day, but I'm planning on taking it on cover to cover so I won't get sidetracked.I've realized that using Picasa 2 can only take my photography so far. I see photographs of the highest quality and just know that they have been post processed with skill in Photoshop. I want, in fact I need, to produce better quality photogr Read more:Taking

How My Journaling Has Come Along 2007-06-04 01:13:38 The photo in this entry is Diva. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.Since I began my current journal in March I have only managed to fill it halfway. Lately I have hardly been writing entries which is quite the difference from several entries a day when I began. My Moleskine is still in good shape, although it has become lonely. My pen no longer graces its pages as eagerly as it once did. I feel so bad about it.One of the reasons I don't journal as often is because I no longer have as many opportunities as I once did to do so. I have been quite busy with preparing to attend a college art class this month, blogging on a daily basis, managing my photography work, being involved in the 1001 Journals project, managing my email, attending events, and soon corresponding with pen pals.I have not given up on journaling, which has been as neglected as sketching lately. Although, I am surely at a slower pace than I want to be. I usually manage to get an entry a week now, and only one Read more:Journaling
My Photography Is Getting Published 2007-06-08 23:03:13 The photo in this entry is Daily Photo 29. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.
I received a letter in the mail yesterday from picture.com informing me that my photo "Daily Photo 29" has been selected for publication in an upcoming anthology called Endless Journeys. I submitted the photo to their site as an entry to a contest. I was so pleased to find out that this photo was selected for publication, I couldn't believe it.
I used to hold a photo project called Daily Photos, but only got as far as 50 photos before my camera broke. I had decided to not display any of my daily photos in my blog, but this is surely a great exception. Daily Photo 29 is a big favorite out of all my photos. If I could give it a different title, it would probably be Tears of Joy.
The grand prize for the contest I entered is $1,000. I qualify for the $10,000 annual grand prize as well. I'm hopeful to at least win a silver medal prize, but being published is good enough for me. It feels pretty good
Making Pen Pal Friends 2007-06-07 23:24:21 The photo in this entry is Gazing Into Water. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.
If you did not already know, I don't have many friends. I keep in touch with a few people online and a handful here in my area, but that's it. I don't really want to reconnect with anyone from my past, so I've decided to make a few friends through snail mail.
I signed up at a few pen pal services, created my profiles, and in no time began making and getting offers to exchange snail mail. I'm not new to having pen pals, but I certainly don't see it the same way I used to. My main goal in having pen pals is to establish a few meaningful friendships and get to know what other people are like in other areas in a more sincere sense than anything that can be said or done online.
Part of the inspiration for this is the 1001 Journals Project I'm involved in. I enjoyed looking through the pages of the first traveling journal I received. It gave me a unique sense of who the people were that made Read more:Friends
The Photoshop Difference 2007-06-07 16:58:11 The photo in this entry is Pure Glow. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.
As I have been playing around in Photoshop
CS2, I've discovered some neat ways to apply certain tools to enhance my photos. With this attempt at fixing a photo I used "Flower Girl" as my subject. A black and white portrait of me pictured below.
The top photo is the edited Picasa version which needed little adjustments. The second photo is the finished edited result done in Photoshop. There are some major differences in some elements of the photo, but I think it looks a lot better than before.
How did I make this happen? Well........
Editing this photo in Picasa was a snap. I converted the photo to black and white. Then I applied the Glow feature twice while adjusting its saturation. And I finally adjusted the Fill Light, Shadow, and Highlight levels of the whole photo. Although the photo appears more realistic than the Photoshoped version, I felt it needed improvements.
At first glance you.
My Roller Coaster Week 2007-06-12 05:34:52 The photo in this entry is My Appreciation. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.
This past week has been filled with ups and downs. The best thing about it was that I got a letter in the mail telling me one of my photos is getting published. (Woohoo!) The worst thing, my laptop stopped functioning due to a very dirty keyboard. I took it to be repaired yesterday.
Besides that, I got a jury summons for next month, a few more photo shoot gigs lined up before the end of the year, I found out that I actually start my college art class next month, and my new nephew Andrew was born. I also managed to write a journal entry, I haven't written anything in a while.
While my laptop is in for repair I'm using my mother's desktop computer as back up. She has graciously allowed me to take over her computer for my needs. :D I have owned my laptop for nearly four years, this is the first time it ever gets repaired. The problem is hardware though, which is o.k. because I don't mess with. Read more:Roller

Get Your Blog Reviewed For Free 2007-06-11 16:52:37 The photo in this entry is Brightened. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.
Why pay for a blog review when you can get one for free? That's exactly what I am offering, and now is your chance to take advantage. I will personally read and review your blog. All that is required is that you link back to this blog. Reviews are conducted throughout the week and are posted on a weekly basis, every Monday. All reviews can be found in my Reviews category.
Why am I offering free blog reviews? Sometimes bloggers want input about their blogs from a focused perspective, but don't want to or cannot pay for reviews by high priced reviewers. I believe it is better to receive an honest review for free than an influenced one that is not, even if it is positive. Ultimately the best insight is what matters and will be of greatest value to the blogger.

My New Blog Category Series: About Me 2007-06-09 22:35:09 The photo in this entry is Madness. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.
I recently got inspired to start a series of posts which will also have its own category, About Me. Each post will contain results of quizzes, polls, or surveys I take that give some information about me. I used to do these a lot when I was very active on MySpace. Instead of posting on a regular basis for this category, I'm going to make it interesting by posting spontaneously. The point is to familiarize my readers about who I am. So to begin, here's my first quiz:
I Am 8% Girly
Um... you're a guy, right? If not, you're the most boyish girl in the world. And for you, that's probably the ultimate compliment.
Gee, I was kind of surprised by the results, but then again I am quite boyish. I grew up being a tomboy, go figure. Although, the questions in this quiz were totally cliche girly stuff. I got an 8% because I only selected one of the things that girls do; read gossip magazines. Pffft!

A Delay to My Laptop Repair 2007-06-15 05:23:16 The photo in this entry is My Dear Friend. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.
Since my laptop got all screwy on me a few days ago, my online life has been that much more difficult. It's enough that I miss my laptop, even if it cops an attitude sometimes. Having to use other computers to maintain my online presence is not so cool though. I seriously can't wait to get my laptop back.
A few days ago my computer malfunctioned because the keyboard was so clogged that a key got stuck. It was an arrow key, thus continuous scrolling on everything which wouldn't let me select anything or even shut my computer down. I tried cleaning the keyboard with Q-tips, but made the problem worse. It resulted in causing the computer to not progress past the first black screen from start up and instead commence with an annoying beeping sound. At that point, I freaked out and practically started crying.
To make a long story short, I found a place that could repair my laptop, but it will take. Read more:Delay
