My Bad Health 2007-05-02 09:43:33 The photo in this entry is Baby Bouquet. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. In a recent conversation with a brother of mine, I learned about how unhealthy I am. We first began talking about breaking out, which went into weight issues, stomach problems, teeth fillings, and the digestive system. So I was well informed on what's wrong and how to get my health back on track.I have not had medical insurance for a couple of months now, so I can't get my teeth fillings removed. I was told that because they are of metal, they can be bad. If my nerves were exposed, then the metal placed right over, it is entering my blood stream. This causes tingling in the arms and legs and sudden numbness. I have this, and I thought it was damage from when I was in the Air Force.I figured out that I break out badly when I gain weight rapidly. It is characterized by distinctive scarring. I also get stomach pains, sometimes feeling like throwing up. I thought it was perhaps ulcers in my stomach, bu Read more:Health

Questions!Well, since last week I've been trying to revamp some things around here, including this meme. So I made some official Loaded Questions banners. You can view both versions here and here. You can use either if you like, I will be designing more along the way. The chicklet is still available to use as well. Feel free to include it in your blog. The banners are of original photos I have taken, so please mind that they are copyrighted.I thought of creating a blogroll for regular participants of the Loaded Questions meme, but there are not enough regulars to do so. If you are a regular, or would like to be one, please email me so I can get a list going. The blogroll will be optional for you to include on your blog. So please tell your friends about this fun and interesting Wednesday meme so they may join in on the action on a regular basis. The more t
Selling My Photography 2007-05-01 03:58:48 The photo in this entry is Preservation. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I recently discovered Imagekind, a site where you can purchase images, create galleries of your own, and even sell your images. There is even a feature that lets you import images from your Flickr account. All images are from other users, so there is a lot of variety to choose from and much creativity to explore.I opted to sell my images. Right now, most of the images I have available for purchase were imported from Flickr. Thus the availability of only the Petite size for purchase. That's because I make sure my images are uploaded to Flickr with the longest side being 800 pixels. It's the minimum for the Petite size on Imagekind.I may just go ahead and upload those images in their original sizes so that they can be purchased at larger resolutions. Nonetheless the largest size I have available with all of my images is Medium, and only on a few. Imagekind has a simple way of presetting sizes for ima

My Technorati Favorites Exchange 2007-05-04 05:02:03 The photo in this entry is Secretly On Your Side. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.Recently I discovered TFX, the Technorati
Favorites Exchange
. A really interesting and effective way of generating traffic to gain readers. It involves link exchanging through the favorite feature on Technorati to improve your rank. Pretty cool huh?I looked into it while reading this post at DoshDosh where the original TFX is being held. After participating in the exchange of favorites, I decided to go a little further and host my own TFX here. Seems reasonable enough to do so. This exchange is open to anyone who owns a blog and is a Technorati member. If you are interested in being part of the exchange, here is what you do:To participate, favorite my blog by clicking here, then leave a comment by copying and pasting the following:I have added you to my Technorati favorites. My Link: http://technorati.com/faves/?add=yourfullblogurlOnly one blog per person allowed. My Sponsored Listing at BlogCatalog 2007-05-04 02:11:49 The photo in this entry is Fervor. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I recently made some changes to my listing at BlogCatalog so they would reflect the new status of my blog. I got an email confirming those changes and in it, I noticed an ad for sponsored listings. I checked it out and found it worthy to try out.I went ahead and bought a sponsored listing in the Personal category of blogs. I'm the second listing, for now. I signed up for having my listing up for one month which only cost $10. It should benefit my traffic more and get my blog out there. I don't believe in "If you build it, they will come". Blogging really takes a lot of effort to get yourself out there. This is just one of the many ways I'm getting myself noticed.I really think this is a great way to boost your traffic. If you are listed in a prominent place within your category, you will generate a wider audience. BlogCatalog offers sponsored listings in up to 5 spaces in each category. I thought I wou
My Blog Link Exchange Offer 2007-05-07 08:51:47 The photo in this entry is With Company. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I have noticed a trend around the blogosphere of bloggers having link exchange blogrolls. I can see why it is so beneficial, it ranks you higher in Technorati and other places. Although I currently have plenty of people linking to me as it is, I'd like to be fair in linking back as well. Therefore, I've started a Link Exchange
Blogroll of my own.The basic idea is to exchange blog links by including my blog link in your blogroll, and I will reciprocate. We exchange links and share traffic and potential readers. A simple method to gaining exposure. If you are interested in being listed in my Link Exchange Blogroll, include my blog link into your blogroll, then leave a comment to let me know you want me to reciprocate. It's that easy. :DAll submissions are taken care of on a case by case basis as my schedule allows. Please allow a couple of days for your link to show up in the blogroll. My Photography Being Featured at Wallhogs 2007-05-07 02:22:36 The photo in this entry is Hidden Secrets. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I recently got an offer to have my photography work displayed at the Wallhogs blog. My first piece got posted today, Her Royal Highness. And there was also a plug entered into a post over at the ScottPot blog. The owner of ScottPot enjoyed my photography at first glance and decided to feature me on a regular basis over at Wallhogs. I'm really psyched. This is such a great opportunity for me.If you don't know what Wallhogs is, its a site that lets you get your high resolution photos printed specializing in wall decorations. I have never seen anything like it, but it seems to be a pretty neat thing to do. You can get your images printed on reusable vinyl with optional backgrounds cut out, glossy poster paper, and even canvas. The prices are great and the products are popular. I think this is a good company to get such work done, so I became a member as well. I even signed up to partner with Wallho Read more:Featured
Participating in the 24 Hours of Flickr Community Event 2007-05-06 06:38:08 The photo in this entry is Downtown Los Angeles. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.Today I participated in the 24 Hours
of Flickr
community event. It is a day long photo project of members chronicling their day in whatever way they please. I have yet to submit my best photo of all that I took today, but I have until the 21st of this month to do so. The photo in this entry is of the photo I would have submitted, but I noticed that the date in the EXIF data is wrong. I cannot change it, even through Flickr. Other images were fine though, I corrected the date on the camera after thinking about it. You can view the 24 Hours of Flickr group discussion, photos, and info here. For this project I used a Nikon D50 to enable the best quality of photography available to me. I took my HP Photosmart R707 as back up, both for photos and memory. It seems to work fine in daylight. I spent most of my day in Downtown Los Angeles shooting photos mostly of flowers and buildings. The Benefits of Using Picasa for Photography 2007-05-08 08:33:27 The photo in this entry is Black Spider. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I have been using the Picasa
2 software by Google for a good while now. When I began using photo editing software I was using Photoshop. Soon I graduated to Photoshop CS2, and not long afterwards; I discovered Picasa. It is a wonderful photo editing program that has done wonders for my photography.Using Picasa is so easy and pleasant. You become in awe of what it can help you create. The features are very efficient in bringing out the best in your photos. Just some basic fixes with the right touch will enhance all of your photos tenfold. Not only can you edit your photos, but you can organize them quickly and smoothly as well.I use Picasa for most of my photo editing needs now. I leave the bigger programs for more detailed work like designing things for the web. Picasa's basic photo editing tools has enabled me to make masterpieces of my photos. And guess what? It was totally free. I thought it was t Read more:Benefits
My Photography is Being Noticed 2007-05-08 04:19:59 The photo in this entry is Rained On. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.Another eventful and fun day. I went to Miguel's and woke him from sleeping. We went to the El Paraiso restaurant for lunch. The only thing that sucks about going there is that we have to jaywalk to get there and come back.I babysat Miguel's niece Ashley for a while and finally got a shot of the friendly stray cat and Fabirizio together. Fabrizio was really sick for a few weeks, he's feeling a lot better now.Later, Miguel, his mother, Ashley, and I went to the other end of town to arrive at a video rental store, David's Video. Little Ashley was not too happy about being stuck to a car seat, but she eventually fell asleep before we got home. Soon afterwards, Miguel was on his way to work already, so I went home. This evening it rained for a short while. Something unexpected even though it was windy as heck all day today.I have heaps more photography to work on, but I got news today about my work bei
My 24 Hours of Flickr Submission 2007-05-12 20:17:20 The photo in this entry is Suave. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.Well, I've got a good amount of photos finally displayed in my Flickr
photostream from my batch that I would consider towards the 24 Hours
of Flickr Community Event. It has taken me just one week to make my decision on which one to submit as my best photo for the group pool. My final decision? The photo in this entry, Suave. As I mentioned before, only a select amount of photos will be published in a book of the project. I'm hoping this photo makes it to the book. It may not fulfill my goal, but I think it should be sufficient for what I want to accomplish. Nonetheless, I'm glad I finally decided on a photo and no longer feel anxious about deciding which to submit. There is still some time until the photos are selected for publishing. If the photos are not announced online, I guess we all have to wait until the book gets published to find out if our work made it. So now I can just sit back and wait, enjoy Read more:Submission

What I'd Like to Win at Bid4Prizes 2007-05-11 02:45:52 The photo in this entry is The Beauty of Class. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I recently visited Bid4Prizes

When I saw the hot auctions available, I immediately gravitated towards the ViewSonic VG2230wm / 22" LCD Monitor.I would definitely love to win it for my mom. I think she would benefit from having a brand new 22” LCD Monitor like this one. She uses glasses and usually squints to view the screen on her current computer monitor. If I could win her this computer monitor she would love to be able to take advantage of the widescreen feature. This monitor is equipped with blur-free, full-motion video and crystal-clear graphics. My Top 5 Favorite Flowers 2007-05-10 19:39:18 The photo in this entry is Inside Out. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. The Rose: Apart from being one of the most beloved kinds of flowers of the world, the rose is special to me for more personal reasons. The rose is a very expressive flower. It can express romanticism, friendship, respect, remorse, consolation, and even hatred. I have loved roses all my life, thanks to my mother and her vibrant garden. Roses will always remind me of my mother. The Orchid: If I did not love roses so much, orchids would take their place. The orchid is a recent favorite of mine, I've never viewed their beauty as much until I began photographing them. They have varying shapes, are quite delicate, and sometimes seem like they can be entities by themselves. Each kind appears to express its own personality, which appeals to me a lot. I finally understand why others have loved the Orchid so much. They are uniquely beautiful and interesting. The Daisy: I love the Daisy for its simple beauty, c Read more:Favorite

I Need Help With My Blog Design 2007-05-15 09:29:42 The photo in this entry is Mysteriousness. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. In recent days in an effort to invest in better blogging, I decided to give my blog a makeover. Because I am investing in promoting my blog, I thought it would be good to make it more appealing and functional. Right now, I am waiting on an opportunity to implement a totally new template. After which my blog will be under construction. The upcoming changes include another sidebar, more expandable sections, a new color scheme, and a new header. All of which will enable a sleeker look, faster loading pages, and a more organized site. Though my only problem is that I cannot do everything on my own. I've tried, and it is actually too complicated for me. Therefore, I would like to employ the help of a skillful and knowledgeable person to help me implement some coding I already have in mind for my blog.I have worked quite hard to get my blog where it is today. My efforts so far have paid off tremendously. Read more:Blog Design
Getting Paid to Share Photos 2007-05-15 02:27:12 The photo in this entry is Sensitive Boldness. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez.I thought it sounded too good to be true, but it is totally legit. You can get paid to get your photos viewed when you have them displayed at Share
-A-Pic. When you set up a gallery, you create links to the photos and get paid for each view your photos receive. How awesome is that?It works similar to how text link ads do, but you are using photos instead. It's the first time I've seen anything like this. I'm thinking of using the gallery as a portfolio. All the photos have to be uploaded from your computer, so there is no importing from any other photo hosting service like Flickr or Photobucket. Since I have over 700 photos, and their mass uploading tool does not seem to work right now, it is going to take me a good while to build my portfolio.Right now my gallery only has a few photos as I have only had time to upload those. As soon as I get over 200, I'll begin the linking to the gallery f Read more:Getting Paid
The BlogCatalog Community Mass Buzz 2007-05-14 07:17:23 The photo in this entry is Teardrop. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. In an effort to put BlogCatalog on the map when it comes to social networking sites, I'm participating in the BlogCatalog Community Mass Buzz today. A community effort to get the word out about the benefits of using BlogCatalog. What I enjoy about BlogCatalog is the ease of use with all the features it includes. Their widgets are awesome and the visual design of the site is modern but not over the top. Getting to know other members is effortless, and there are tons of great people to meet. Networking could not be easier for me.What attracted me to BlogCatalog first was their widgets. They are easily customized, update quickly, and appear smoother than others out there. Looking more into the site, I thought very well of the organization of the site. You have your user profile page and your blog listing page. My Weight Loss Plan 2007-05-22 02:12:01 The photo in this entry is Passionate. Photographed and edited by me, Lynda Walldez. Not too long ago I paid a visit to the doctor and found that I was about 50 lbs overweight. I have weighed heavier before and lost the weight, although in a very unhealthy manner. My health is worsening because of this weight gain. My weight is also fluctuating a lot. So I've pledged to make my own weight loss plan and stick to it.In the several attempts at losing weight that I have made, I learned about the many ways you can slim down. And with all that, I believe I can stick to something simple and long term that will incorporate the elements I have practiced before. There really is no need for me to get on diet pills, pay for a gym membership, or spend on a dieting service. My current goal is to simply break out of the fluctuation I am experiencing. I know that from breaking out of a weight range that I can't return to, I will lose weight faster from that point on. To start I have to drink about 8 Read more:Weight
