Quilt Blocks
2007-04-15 06:45:00
Well here is the April installation of the quilt blocks. I didn't care for the blue background of the center square, because there is nothing else that's blue in any of the fabrics. However when it all came together, I decided I could live with it... Next months flower is Lily of the Valley, so stay tuned. Enjoy the daisies...

Quilt Blocks
2007-04-14 07:26:00
I've been sewing these flower of the month blocks. Here is March. I had some problems with the fabric that I didn't have on the other two. For some reason the fabric wanted to stretch out of shape somewhat and I didn't sew the pieces any differently than the others. Maybe it was the way they were cut for the kits...not sure, but I still like the effect of the daffodils, the first harbingers of

Lisa's Heaven Spring Challenge
2007-04-12 23:40:00
Here is my challenge doll for Lisa's Heaven . Unfortunately, didn't win a prize, but I did my best. Hope you enjoy Patience. I really enjoyed working on her and the bright colours were a nice distraction from the gray skys outside... Here she is, front back and close up...

Great Sale Find
2007-04-09 04:07:00
I'm not a garage sale shopper like most people I know, but I do manage to find things that are really neat, useful and cheap.. I found this yesterday while browsing around in a store. I wasn't even aware this store is closing. I just spotted this little stand and for $10 how could I pass it up. It measures about 2 1/2' tall and about 1' wide, and is shaped like a boat. Good choice for someone

D'Ona
2007-04-09 03:57:00
I've been working on a fairy in a class with Kathy Hays. She's coming along well. Today I was busy with her hair, hat and wings. They aren't attached fully, just pinned for now but thought you might like to see her at this stage. She will be getting her fairy clothing and of course some of the forest floor embellishments...I will be working on her tonight and tomorrow so stay tuned for the next

Finished my Little Diversion
2007-04-01 23:46:00
I finished my project this afternoon. Excuse the glare on the face, but I varnished the face to protect it from getting dirty. I've added the embellishments, her earring and some glass leaves attached to the chain on her wrist, like charms. The wrap is finished of with a tube of fabric stuffed with batting, then wrapped with fibres. To finish off, I used some trim around her face and a gold trim

Step 3 of the Little Diversion
2007-04-01 05:51:00
Well, here I am at step 3. I thought I would show you all where my album is at. At this point I've add her hand in felt and added a gold braclet. I'm not sure that I will add more to the gloved hand, but only time will tell. I tend to wander all over a project when I'm working. It's like someone is taking my hands and guiding me through the process, so to my creative muse, I thank you..... The

Step 2 of the Little Diversion
2007-03-31 04:24:00
Here is the next step of the album cover. I've painted the face now, she looks so intense doesn't she. The holes where the threads were aren't completely covered, but hopefully that won't be so visible once the whole project is together. I so love the profile of this design. It's, in my opinion, very elegant. The hat is the next step of the picture and I have a different idea than the pattern

A Little Diversion
2007-03-30 05:19:00
I've been so busy with making dolls lately I decided a little diversion was in order. I'm finally getting busy and making a photo album for my doll pictures. Nothing says organized like pictures in an album... The first step is pretty simple but effective. I found a perfect size of album at the local dollar store. The next thing was "what to do to the album to make it more creative". I put it

Not quite spring...
2007-03-20 05:34:00
It's not quite spring yet, but the flowers and trees don't seem to care about that. They are coming through the ground and the trees are bursting out in bloom. With all the rain we've been having it's a wonder the bulbs in the ground haven't been washed away. My street is covered in blossom filled trees and it's such a pretty sight when the days are grey. The daffodils are exploding with colour

I've added a new webpage to my doll site called "The Ladies". You will find MadamE residing there. The "Maharaja" can be found on the "Mystical" page. I can't believe how much easier it is to update my blog, why didn't I do this ages ago....

MadamE

Royal Blue Set 2
2007-04-30 23:30:00
Here is the pillow finished to go with the heartsachet from the other day. I really love the look of the set together. It's making me want to put other things aside to work on the other two sets I want to do...but I won't. I have other projects to get to and will post as they are done.

Virginia Tech Tragedy
2007-04-30 23:03:00
Where I normally just discuss many topics with a few people in private, I felt the need to voice my feelings in a brief way on what some are calling a day of quiet reflection for the Virginia Tech Tragedy . While I feel empathy for the families of the Virginia Tech tragedy, I cannot also help remembering others who have lost those close to them. We forget that there are senseless wars being

Beetle Babe Challenge
2007-04-29 17:37:00
We got the results this morning for the Beetle Babe Challenge on Joggles. If you would like to see all the entries and the winning results, please click on the link and scroll down the page. This was a real test for me as a relatively new doll maker. The pattern was very involved, particularily the Beetle himself, but I did enjoy every step of the way. I had Chinese New Year in mind when I was

Royal Blue Set
2007-04-29 07:08:00
I'm working on some pillow sets for sale on both my website and my cousins studio. I've put part of the first set together tonight and thought I should at least get this part posted. This is the sachet part of the set. It's filled with both polyfill and lavender. Lavender is known for it's wonderful relaxation properties. It's very helpful to calm the nerves of someone who is feeling anxious.

A Padfolio
2007-05-02 20:30:00
I just finished this padfolio this morning. It was a tutorial made into a challenge by Sue Bleiweiss on a forum at Joggles. She gave us the instructions and said go for it and have it done by Friday, so here's mine. Inside is lined with Olive Green coloured cotton, with a pocket on each of the bottom and top largest sections. One side holds a pad of paper (in this case 8 1/2" 11" - I enlarged it

Pincushion Mannequins
2007-05-13 05:47:00
I found these great pincushion mannequins last week. I have all kinds of ideas in my head of ways to dress them up, so to speak. One will be mine, but the other two will be for sale once I figure out how to pretty them up. I have something similar given to me by a good friend, but it's designed to hang jewelery on. Nothing says these couldn't become something similar. Stay tuned and hopefully it

May Quilt Block
2007-05-13 05:42:00
I picked up the kit for this months quilt block today. I wanted to get right to it, I love Lily of the Valley as it reminds me of my grandmother. Very special lady and every May 1st I remember her having a little bouquet of them in the house for her birthday... Next months quilt block is June roses, also very pretty fabrics for that one. I hope you like this one..

A change of pace
2007-05-15 04:13:00
I thought you might enjoy a change from looking at all my doings and enjoy a few flower pics from my garden. I always look forward to seeing that everything survived the wet cold winter months to burst out in the colour in May. Everything seems to have survived except my pink babies breath and my Australian Bottle Brush plant is still struggling. I refuse to dig it out until there is absolutely

Pincushion Mannequins - All Dressed Up
2007-05-21 18:42:00
I was falling into a bit of slump so I decided to change from what I was working on and turn my attention to the pincushion mannequins I showed you a picture of not to long ago. I've been wanting to do something with them and decided to do it and get it off my mind and just simply dive in and see what happens. So, just to refresh, the original pincushions is on the left..... This is the next

The Little Mermaid
2007-05-29 09:49:00
I finished this last night. It was for a swap. The swap itself was a fat quarter of fabric. The challenge was to make a doll using the swap fabric and the embellishment that came with it. This little cutie is the first pattern for Judy Wellnitz . It's a very sweet pattern to make and the directions and tips are very well written. The swap fabric I received was just perfect. I don't think my

Socks
2007-06-20 14:19:00
Can't believe it's been almost a month since I posted. I've been busy and also went away on a mini vacation, which was wonderful. I'll post a couple of pictures later to show where we were. Today, I thought I would show you where my latest crafty ventures have led me. I haven't knit socks for ages, probably years but it's been renewed by the yarns that are on the market now. I got frustrated,

Socks Two
2007-06-24 09:38:00
As promised here are two more colours of socks.I try to just sit and knit for a short time, but because the yarn creates it's own patterns as you knit, I find myself knitting for a little longer (okay a lot longer) so I can see what's going to develop. For now, these guys will have to survive without their partners because I must get some other things done.....Do visit your local wool shop and

Socks Three
2007-07-13 21:34:00
I know I said I wasn't going to do anymore socks until I got other things done...but do I listen to my own words...No ! And not only did I knit more socks but I worked on one of them on the hottest day on record around here the other day. Other people are out on the beach, in pools, anything to keep cool. What am I doing? Knitting socks.. I'm addicted to this yarn and can't wait to see what the

Goddess Dolls
2007-07-26 17:12:00
I had a few minutes before heading out the door again, so thought I would go ahead and post a picture of the goddess doll pins I've been working on. I have several in the works. Some are finished, the rest are stitched and stuffed, but need the beading done. I hope to have them done soon and will post a message to let you know. They will also be available to purchase on my website and will be

Harry Potter
2007-07-26 16:19:00
Bet you're wishing I would post something else than socks??? Okay, I will, but first. Has everyone read the last Harry Potter book. It's every bit as good as the rest, but definately a darker read than the rest. Each book got that way a little more as they progressed, but it came together so smoothly. I won't spoil the ending for those who haven't read it yet or aren't finished. For those who
