The Three R's
2008-01-08 16:32:00
Continuing on in clean and organizing mode. I've been busy sorting threads into their respective groups. The top spool holder for my cottons and sulky's. The bottom for my polyesters, and a box full now of bobbins of beading thread, sulkys and polyesters all in one place. Cotton gets wound as I use it.... The serger threads are together as always, but are also sharing space with woolly nylons,

Candy Cane Elf
2008-01-05 16:49:00
Here is the second of Kat Lee's Christmas Elves. I did her in rose and silver tones with a bit of green for contrast. I'm once again impressed with Kat's attention to details. I didn't think there would be as much detail as Connie the Dollmaker, but I was pleasantly surprized. When I finished making the candy and stockings and spent the time setting the whole scene up, I stood back and thought

Starting Anew
2008-01-01 11:00:00
Starting off the new year with a sorting and cleaning post would be a good thing to do. I have all my cotton and cotton/poly mix, and other threads in my sewing box and separated, but it's a pain. Everytime I need to change colours on the machine I have to open the lid for the type of thread it is, and then tip each spool to see where the right colour is. That's more than tedious. Last week I

New Year's 2008
2007-12-29 17:03:00
Only a couple more days now for 2007 to have outlived it's time and to bring in the New Year to take it's place. Do you make resolutions??? I don't, too much pressure to start a new year off with by placing demands on me to do certain things. Instead, I just make promises to myself to try and do better at the things that I wasn't so great at in the previous year and continue to do the things I

Merry Maubles
2007-12-27 21:07:00
Here's a box of Merry Maubles in various stages of being done. And below they are all finished. Aren't they cute. Not because I made them, because they have such great character. They are hanging on the metallic christmas tree I showed you a few posts ago and look very nice greeting visitors at the front door. After the holidays are over and everything is packed away until next year, the Merry

A wee bit behind
2008-03-22 17:07:00
Have been very busy of late, lots going on. Have been working on projects, but I'm so scattered in my thoughts and doings lately, that I have many things on the go, but only one eenie weenie thing done... Some friends and I are doing an easter/spring challenge and this is all I could get done... I have two others ready to stuff and paint, but time time time eludes me... I did

Grace
2008-03-24 08:42:00
Am busy working on a commission. This is Grace and she is for a friend. She wanted an angel and this one just seemed to suit her. She has a way to go of course, she will have wings, and adornments but somehow I felt the need to post this to make sure I keep going and don't allow myself to get distracted again with something else. I think it's my own "self help" idea, put your partly finished

Another great find
2008-03-23 19:04:00
I'm not one to go to garage sales. I also don't have garage sales. I just never have time and I'm capable of bringing enough stuff home without the assistance of more temptations... When I have something to part with, I usually just give things away to someone who wants or needs them. If I don't have anyone in mind to ask, I send things to the thrift store. I sometimes will put things on the

New Sewing Machine
2008-03-25 22:34:00
Well it was time to upgrade my sewing machine. It's amazing how you can really make things last when you have to and by taking care of your things. My poor old Janome was 17 years old and it has served me well. I took it apart a couple of months ago and gave it a good cleaning out and oiling, but alas, I think it's needing some new parts. So rather than put out money on repairs on such an old

Global Warming - OH YEAH !!
2008-03-31 16:03:00
Global warming, yeah okay. Here we are on the eve of April 1st on the west coast of Canada where by now we are smuggly sending pictures to east coasters and talking of mowing lawns, flower counts and bouquets of fresh spring flowers for the dinner table.... So here is what we had about 2 hours ago....Nice and this has been going on for a few days.......Big black clouds, followed by cold north

My 100th Post
2008-04-16 09:23:00
I have been very neglectful of my blog, but I've been so busy. I also realized a couple of weeks ago that I had reached my 100th post, and well, look at that 100 posts. I must have had a lot to say. It was only a short time ago I was congratulating my friend Serena on her 100th post...and here I am doing the same thing. Although this is a minor accomplishment compared to blogs around the world,

A Spring Morning
2008-04-19 09:25:00
So here it is. A nice spring morning calling me to go out and play. Hmmmm, good thing I'm off to work, because this is definately not a play day. As I type this, it appears that the flakes have stopped or have at least changed to wet version called rain. The wind is picking up and that's always nice, sideways rain....great...Yesterday was the warm up, wind - rain - hail- and snow. This snowy

Earth Day
2008-04-22 09:30:00
This is Earth Day. It seems so silly to have to have a special day set aside for our Earth because we should all be aware of Mother Nature all year round? We live in such a fast pace, hectic world and we forget about the basics right in front of us. Do the majority of people just assume that the Earth will take care of itself just because for so long, it has. With all we do to it, it cannot

Embroidery Floss - update
2008-04-24 22:14:00
Just a quick update. All the embroidery floss has sold.... I will be scanning covers soon of a lot of decorative painting books I am wanting to clear out, as well as individual patterns, so keep checking back to see what's new.. Thank you....

Embroidery Floss
2008-04-24 10:23:00
I have a lot of DMC embroidery floss to clear out. I have put them into bags of a minimum of 65 skeins each. The colours are the same in each but with some variations in the tones according to the numbers. The picture below shows the colours for each bag and as you can see, some colours have more skeins to them than others. I am asking $6.00 a bag for them, plus postage, and if you want all 5

Grace is finished
2008-04-25 17:20:00
A little update on Grace . She is finished now and has arrived at her new home in Australia. She seems quite content and ready to do her work. She was a joy to work on, and if you're looking for a doll that's easy and gives instant gratification, this is a good one to try. She has the pancake face which some find easier to do. Because she's a larger doll (approx. 24"), it makes working on her

Beads Beads Beads
2008-04-28 18:12:00
It's time to confess. My name is Romona and I'm a beadaholic. I had to show you something that I think is just the best thing to come along for beaders. Now of course I have no idea if something better exists, but I'm really enjoying this and in my never ending quest to get organized, I am always on the prowl for "organizers" for everything, but only those that make complete sense. I get a

An adivsory of sorts
2008-04-30 17:57:00
I felt the need to update you on an aspect of the Bead Pavillion I told you about the other day. When I ordered the Pavillion I paid of course, the shipping costs to have it sent here, $28.00, which I felt was okay given the size of the box I expected it would arrive in. Little did I ever imagine the cost of UPS handling it. $35.00 on top of the shipping cost I already paid. Call it me not

Quilt
2008-05-03 18:01:00
I had to take a break from my dolls for a few days, I have so many things in my line of fire I was getting to frustrated trying to work on one and not the other. So I put them all off to the side and said nuts to it. I'll just do something totally different for a few days and get some perspective back for the dolls. I was over on Saltspring Island last Saturday and picked up some beautiful

Redoing things!
2008-05-06 12:25:00
I've been working on making a new bedspread, pillows, bed skirt and curtains, and now another project is done. The bedspread is a bit of a heavy kind of material, probably meant more for upholstery, but it was still soft enough and not to heavy to move around like a bedspread. I've included a close up of the pillows because of the trim. I found a great eBay list, that has the most

Update on my quilt !!
2008-05-23 22:05:00
It's amazing how much time passes when you get busy. I can't believe how long it's been since my last post. Must remember to add that to my list of "to do"... "Must post more regularily"...My quilt was finished in record time. I don't do a lot of quilting but I have a few smallish projects I hope to get to. Some are to help finish off my bedroom redo, others are things like pla

Swaps
2008-05-29 08:49:00
I don't get a lot of time just now to join in on swaps, but I did do a couple recently. The first one I responded to was a post that my friend Connie had on her blog. She was hosting a Pay It Forward exchange. I think it's such a great idea and right away thought I would like to take part in that... This is my Pay It Forward gift that went to Serena. The actual gift is the crystal and bead hanger,

No title
2008-06-07 22:48:00
I've been working to catch up to all my UFO's, but I had to get this done first. It's a gift for a special friend and I need to take it to him tomorrow. It's like the man himself and I think he'll really like this. He's the kind of man who really appreciates the things he's given and loves to show them to others. He's shared some of those with us. For Fred's clothing, I did a combination of real a

New Clothes
2008-07-01 17:34:00
Time to get some new clothes made. My poor old closet needs a major overhaul. Ever wear clothes so much you're even tired of seeing yourself in them. That's where I'm at. I have a stack of fabric here for new tops, pants, jackets and you name it. My first project is done and time to look at another, but now I must finish my doll for the Hoffman Challenge. She's almost ready and I will post here in

Charmed Quilted Bags
2008-06-29 17:16:00
I finished this today inbetween bouts of lying flat out with a miserable summer cold. Don't get one, they are so horrible. Haven't had one in years and forgot how much worse than fall/winter colds are. On top of that, summer finally showed itself and I don't do hot weather well....This quilted bag is the first of a few different coloured ones I am working on. They will be for sale on my website ev

Socks reborn
2008-06-28 19:34:00
I'm finally getting back to those socks I started last year. Never do one sock of many colours and put them down and think to yourself you will do the matching one later....Don't do it. It requires to much thought to remember what size and hopefully your tension is even. Mine worked out okay, but not without a few minor pull back of stitches...hate that. So here are finally, 3 pairs done. One pair

This Is It !!
2008-06-23 10:11:00
I always wondered when I would have the chance to say "This is the first day of the rest of my life" and now that day is here. My last day in the work force in the formal sense, was June 17th 2008. People like to use the term retirement, but I choose "change of directions", it's signifies more to come. After just over 40 years (because I was working kid jobs while in school when I wasn't legally a

2008-07-17 08:37:00
I finally was able to take a real live class on Saturday (haven't done that in years) and it was so nice to do that. I was wondering how it would work out since all I've done for so long is online classes. That of course is not a problem, it's always been a bonus to do online classes when I was working and I will continue to do them...but now I can actually sign up for real live classes if I want

Hoffman Challenge 2008 Part 3
2008-07-11 08:47:00
So here she is all done and ready to send off. I've secured her to her chair and hopefully enough so she doesn't sustain any damage. I've seen pictures of disasters, so I'm keeping everything crossed that all will be well. I designed the outfit myself and it's made with Silk Dupioni and Cotton. I had the peacock feather cotton in the cupboard for who knows how long, guess it was just waiting for t

Hoffman Challenge 2008 Part 2
2008-07-10 18:40:00
I'm a little late getting the next pictures up, I had to perform some surgery on my dolls eyes. I had her looking like she had cataracts, so hopefully now, it's better. I guess it will have to be, because I have no more time to work on her. I'm working at securing her to her throne tonight and I'll will post a front and back picture tomorrow. For today, here are some step by step pictures I hope y
