Christmas doings 2007-11-25 21:26:00 I've been working on some small gift items for christmas. I haven't crocheted in a while, so I did a little bit of pulling back and redoing, but I'm on track again, just as I'm about to finish up...The other day I was driving through the parking lot at the shopping center and saw a man walking with a big bag in hand and being nosey, I spotted a glittery something or other sticking out of the top Read more:Christmas
An Award 2007-12-03 17:31:00 My very good friend Serena has sent me this award, and has given quite a lot to live up to calling me "multi-talented. Serena herself is an extremely accomplished artist. Click on over to her blog to see what I mean. I did a little research into this award, and discovered that this is a very special award because it recognizes the bloggers who work hard to keep their blogs interesting and Read more:Award
Christmas 3 2007-12-16 20:21:00 What a great day. Very quiet, uneventful and restful for my first day of holidays. I spent the day putting up the tree and decorations. I put on some christmas movies and just took my time enjoying it all. It's always interesting how we/I forget some of the things that I've packed away from the year before. The older decorations I remember, but the new ones, well. So, my tree is up and looking Read more:Christmas

Christmas 1 2007-12-12 21:13:00 We went for a little walk after supper to start collecting pictures of some of the christmas decorations around the neighbourhood. While I was taking some pictures it occured to me, that everyone, and I mean everyone is going wild with these blow up christmas displays. I thought it might be fun to show you some of those just around a couple of blocks here. I couldn't get pictures of all of them Read more:Christmas
Christmas 6 2007-12-21 20:59:00 I finished off my pressies for the ladies that own the shops I have my dolls in. The green one is staying here with us, because sadly as I was taking the "magic tape" off, so carefully, the green came off in a few places. Poorly disguqised by green metallic paint, but she's on our tree and looks quite happy to be there. This a design by Michelle Munzone, called Merry Maubles, and I still have 10 Read more:Christmas
Christmas 5 2007-12-19 16:13:00 I mentioned in my post yesterday that I would talk about the boxes under the christmas tree. It's actually very simple and green. A few years ago someone shared with me that they use boxes under the tree to put their gifts in. I took it one step further and I use the boxes to put away christmas decorations at the end of the season. Some of these I've painted, and the others are bought. I have Read more:Christmas
Christmas 4 2007-12-19 09:52:00 A couple of weeks ago or so, I read on Hankering For Yarn , that there was a contest for Holiday Blogs being hosted by Supergranny Rules. Well I'm happy to say that I entered my blog and won a prize for it. Now that was a great surprize to wake up to on this very blustery morning... Thank you so much Gayla and to your judges who spent the time looking at each entry and deciding on mine for one of Read more:Christmas
Things that make you grin !! 2007-12-26 17:21:00 Just before "the big day" I had to get a dragon made for a customer. You know how you get really busy, anxious and any other adjective you can think of to describe that "have to get this done in time" feeling??? and you're tired and just want to stop but you can't, because a time limit is the key element. Well, that happened while working on this dragon. I was getting tired and wanted to go to
Boxing Day 2007-12-25 15:18:00 Have you ever wondered where the term "Boxing Day" came from, or have you just viewed it as another day off with pay... All I ever saw were people tearing off to Boxing Day sales and kept thinking, what on earth more could they want, we just had Christmas. I've never gone to Boxing Day sales. I inadvertently walked into one at a store one time and one time only when I went for one small item. I
Christmas Eve 2007-12-24 10:36:00 This is what a Canadian West Coast Christmas
looks like. The paper said the other day that if we're hoping for a white Christmas, well we've only had 5 of those in the last 52 years....so pffft, there goes my idea of making snow angels and chucking snow balls at unsuspecting passersby.....darn !!!!! ;o) but there is a eenie weenie chance of a bit of snow on Boxing day.. I'll take what I can get Read more:Christmas Eve
Queen of Hearts 2 2008-03-07 21:38:00 I've finished the Queen
of Hearts
. She turned out great and has gone to the tea shop in town. Hopefully she'll find a new home soon. I enjoyed working on her and the shop owner was really pleased to have her. Here's a front, back and close up of her.
Fancy Nancy 2008-03-01 22:16:00 We're having a painting challenge on my private yahoo group and one of these little cuties will be going to a new home when the draw is made. She's a free pattern from Judith Prior if you would like to make your own FancyNancy
. It's very easy to do and with the right embellishments, she can look pretty swishy as my Aussies friends would say.
Well, this is one more project off my work table.
A word of caution !! 2008-02-28 21:27:00 I had a word of caution sent to me by a friend and fellow blogger. To all of you out there in the blogging community who are reading this, please be very careful of comments you receive on your blogs that contain a "click here" link. Those links are to viruses. I would prefer to err on the side of caution than to get hit with a virus that can do some serious damage to your computer.

Queen of Hearts 2008-02-25 21:17:00 I've been working away trying to get this little charmer finished for one of the shops for the end of the week.
She's such a pretty doll. wish the designer would do more because this doll is just so nice. I haven't quite finished her, so I'm going to show everything except the front from the waist up. There is a final detail to do for her and I want to show her with that part Read more:Queen

Shawnigan Lake 2008-02-24 20:20:00 We went for a short drive today up the island. Not far, but decided to circle around and pass by Shawnigan Lake. Hubby has never seen it and I haven't seen it since I was a kid. Along the road leading to the south end of the lake, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was completely heartbreaking. I've lived here my entire life and it's really a beautiful place, parks everywhere that are
She Sparkled me !!! 2008-02-24 19:31:00 Thank you for Sparkling me Colleen.... Isn't that a cute tag...what fun.
Like you I don't want to tag the same people when there are so many out there that inspire us with their blogs and creativity. I will pick out a few more that haven't been noted yet and let you decide. There are some really clever people out there and these little tags serve to direct you to them... Enjoy....and if the

Pay It Forward 2008-02-13 18:43:00 It’s the Pay It Forward
Exchange.
It’s based of the concept of the movie “Pay it Forward” where acts or deeds of kindness are done without expecting something in return, just passing it on, with hope that the recipients of the acts of kindness are passed on. Come join in the fun and make the world a happier place.
So here’s how it works: I will make and send a handmade gift to the first 3
Website doings 2008-02-10 15:04:00 Just a bit of website updating today.
I've redone my links pages and added some new pages in the process. If you click on over to my personal website, and click on Map in the left column you will see 3 links pages. The first two pages are new webpages and my thanks to those ladies for their wonderful graphics that I appreciate so much. Page one is for creative pursuits, the second is graphics
Kleenex Box Cover 2008-02-05 07:34:00 One more project bites the dust. This time it's a quilted kleenex box cover. Other than having to adjust the width to accomodate the size of the box, it went together quick and easy. If the manufacturers would quit changing the packaging on things, it would make things easier for us...;o) Here's a side and top view. Not likely to get more done today, it's back to work.... Why is it when you work Read more:Cover
Thread Catchers 2008-02-04 08:42:00 In keeping with my New Years promise, I'm pressing on to clear up and organize. This week I've started with making thread catchers. Why I've never done them before is beyond me, they are such a great thing for all sewers and other crafters to have nearby. I have one for each machine. I actually did have a kit for one that I bought years ago and what did I do with it, shove it in a drawer with the Read more:Thread

Bagel Safety 2 2008-02-03 09:57:00 Just a quicky post. For anyone interested in the bagel guillotine, I looked on the box and found this link to the company that makes them. If you can't find them in your local kitchen shop, this is the next best thing.

Bagel Safety 2008-02-02 23:04:00 This is totally non craft related and you're wondering why I would bother to write about bagels. No I haven't lost it, honest. Not a bit of crafty news in this post. Although, if you like to snack on bagels while scanning your craft cupboard or a stack of magazines, well that would make bagels a craft related topic..... So why bagels? Okay, so my dh, like all men, loves gadgets. He's been on a Read more:Bagel

New Toys 2008-01-28 17:27:00 Well today brought a wonderful treat. I have been looking at those computerized sewing machines and thinking how great it would be to have one. I've looked at them forever but just couldn't come to terms with them. Perhaps because it wasn't for me. I even went so far as to ask our local retailer about the Janome Memory Craft 11000.... Whew talk about big ideas...but I have no follow through on
Lily 2 2008-01-26 23:21:00 Well, here is Lily at the next step. A lot of work in lesson two, but what a treat to see her this far along. I have even more of an appreciation for the work it takes to do the designing of dolls and when the instructions are well written, it just makes it so easy to follow along. The hardest part is done, now it's on to the really fun part. Giving her clothes and embellishments. Stay tuned for
Water Lily 2008-01-19 22:53:00 The class I wanted to take with Colleen Babcock is now running. It's such a cute project. I'm only as far as the head just now, but I've learned how to stitch a pouty lip. That was slick. Colleen gives you lots of detailed instructions and pictures, and she makes it look so easy. I hope more of you will join us...you'll learn some neat tricks here. Here is my first weeks work. I may still do more
Lester and Sally 2008-01-17 09:28:00 I finished Lester
and Sally
last night. We had a bit of an incident at the end of the process. As doll makers know, we spray the faces at the end to set the colours on their faces. Lester and Sally panicked and tried to make a run for it.... Luckily they had nothing to grab onto in order the lower themselves down to the ground and to jump was just to dangerous so they just laid there hoping I
Silvanna in yellow/green 2008-01-13 15:42:00 Here is Silvanna revisited in yellow and green tones. She is really a great doll to make. A low stress, not to fiddly and a fun ending kind of doll. Just prepare to work with Angelina fibres, enough said on that front.... ;o) Wednesday is back to work after a wonderful month away from work, but I've enjoyed the time spent getting a lot of clearing, sorting and dolls made. I have two more small
Silvanna in blue 2008-01-09 20:25:00 I'm certainly getting a good start to my doll making this year. I just finished Silvanna, in blue tones. She is a design by Cindee Moyer and really nice to work on. It was quick and easy and very rewarding. I have one more to make in yellow/green tones. Will post again when she's ready...
