Decorative Painting 1
2007-07-30 21:32:00
Are you a decorative painter? If so, you may be interested in some patterns I've just posted on my regular website. This is the first lot of patterns, I will have more as soon as I have some free time to get them scanned. There are two designers featured... Gail Anderson, and those of you who are familiar with her work, know her designs are sought after constantly. These are seminar patterns that

The Gazebo is Reborn
2007-08-06 10:35:00
Well, with just a good coat of paint the gazebo is like new again. It always looks so fresh when something has a new coat of paint on it. The "honey do" list just got way smaller. The fence is done, the gazebo and today the back steps and a small wooden stand that stands next to the gazebo and it's finished. Guess who's going to enjoy supper out there tonight....!!!! Now if only the corn were

Veggie Time
2007-08-05 15:01:00
I love it when I can start harvesting from our little garden. We don't have a huge garden, but I plant a little bit of a lot of things. While hubby was out working on the "honeydo" list, (you know...honey do this and honey do that) I went foraging. When we first bought our home, there was a terrible excuse for a shed in the backyard, talk about an eyesore. We promised our neighbour directly next

I've been tagged for being nice!!!
2007-08-11 16:21:00
I have been tagged with a 'Nice Matters' award from my friend Connie McBride of Clothmatters. I am to nominate five people who qualify for being nice. Talk about pressure, I can name all kinds of people who are nice, but I will do my best to keep the numbers down to those who have blogs or websites, but I will compelled to spill over to a couple who don't have either of those. My nominees are:

July Block
2007-08-10 17:02:00
Well here is the flower of the month block for July. This month it's Waterlilies. I just love these bright bold colours. Don't forget if you like the patterns and fabrics, to check out Norcott Fabrics The patterns are available for download on their site and there is a search option to find dealers that carry the fabrics. And, don't just think quilting, I think these fabrics are also great for

Lilies
2007-08-09 21:31:00
Mother Nature didn't let me down this year. I thought I wasn't going to see my lilies this year, but lo and behold look what I discovered this morning. Aren't they lovely. I only have one stem of each, and this is the first year for the white one. The fuschia one is most recognizable as a Stargazer Lily. I just love this one, but if you ever bring one into the house, make sure to snip off the

A Footnote
2007-08-17 09:00:00
Just a clarification on Bea's wings. Although Colleen designed the cutest wings that would be perfect for her, I did different wings. My Bea ended up being quite woodsey because of the batik fabrics I used, so I used a wing design by Dawn Schiller. They were offered as a mini class on Doll Street and I knew at the time they would be perfect for some little sprite or other woodland inhabitant...

Bea in her Bonnet
2007-08-16 23:13:00
My little Bea is finished finally. Poor thing has been on my work table for so long it seems I decided I better get cracking and finish her. I think she turned out great, although she's a fair bit different than the teachers. Bea's designer is Colleen Babcock and she's a lot of fun, and a great teacher/designer. Poor Bea meant to sample a bit of honey and tumbled backwards into the jar. Now

Beaded Trim
2007-08-24 16:54:00
I've often found some great tutorials online either in blogs or websites and thought sometime I would like to be able to offer something as well. The opportunity presented itself this week. I got an order for a dragon like one I sold recently. I agreed to get it made by September 6th....(what WAS I thinking !!) I needed some beaded trim and just simply don't have any that will work with the

Newest Pincushion Mannequins
2007-08-29 08:39:00
I thought I would show you my latest works. I have been busy working on having some of my dolls in shops in town here and fortunately I have been well received by three so far. Now I don't intend to outfit the whole town with dolls, well that might be kind of exciting to...but...the beauty of a small town is that each store has it's own theme. These pincushions are going to the quilt/fabric store

Dragon- Boris the 2nd
2007-09-03 15:19:00
Well thank goodness. I finished Boris this morning and with a few days to spare no less. He'll be heading for the shop tomorrow with all his bling in place. Now you can see how the trim came together with him. I've used in on the body and around his armour. The design for Boris is by Judith Prior if you feel so inclined to give him a try. The results are quite amazing when you stand back and

Connie the Dollmaker Part 4
2007-09-24 16:27:00
Here's the next step in the dollmaker. I didn't have a cute little tricycle for the bunny and baby doll like Kat used, so I improvised. I had a little bamboo basket, it's about 5" W x 2" H. I gave it coat of paint and lined it with fabric and trim. Don't you think the bunny and baby doll will fit in there nice and snug. You'll see. The other piece that's also finished is the sewing basket. Kat

Connie The Dollmaker Part 3
2007-09-23 09:01:00
Well, here is Connie with the rag doll on her lap. She's busy adding her hair and soon will have her dressed. At her feet, at least for now, is the little bunny. I've used a fabric called "Minky" for the bunny. The original instructions call for felt. I've been wanting to use the minky to test drive it and this was the perfect opportunity. He's so darn soft. If you are near a fabric store stop in

Connie The Dollmaker Part 2
2007-09-19 09:18:00
Well here is the next stage of Connie the Dollmaker. The ottoman is made, and now we have a lovely dollmaker ready to get busy and make all those dolls. If you haven't yet decided to sign up for Kat's online class, give it more thought, you will not be disappointed. The class will be so much fun, the lessons are well done, tons of pictures and when it's all done, what a beauty of a keepsake you

A Tip
2007-09-16 13:27:00
Have you dollmakers or sewers in general seen these little gems. If you haven't, run to your nearest fabric or craft store and see if you can get them. They come in packages of 3 and are an absolute must for you. You know those sore tired fingers you get from pushing and pulling those long doll needles through arms and legs to get them sewn on. I don't know about you, but my hands and fingers get

Connie the Dollmaker
2007-09-10 09:40:00
I've been asked by Kat Lees, to test her most recent pattern. Her latest design is Connie the Dollmaker and she is a beauty. Anyone who is like me and waits all year for Christmas knows that when the feeling of Christmas is drawing near, you start looking for those wonderful unique decorations and anything Christmassy in general. I just love the season, it's colourful, the music, the movies...

Website Updates
2007-09-05 23:53:00
I've updated a few pages on my Regular Website over the last couple of weeks. The pages that I've updated are my Fantasy page, which is showing the newest dragon I just finished. My Gallery page is mostly my dolls that I've entered in challenges. I've also added a new page for my Goddess Doll pins that are now finished, if you'd like to see them all. I have other pages I'm working on and will

Fancy Nancy
2007-09-04 11:35:00
A few months ago, I challenged a group of friends to make a blog by the 1st of August. I was able to bribe several of them to give it a try. The bribe..... "Fancy Nancy " ( a free design by Judith Prior). I made a Fancy Nancy in blue tones, and she became a mascot for our group. You can see her in the gallery page of my personal website, in the dolls section, Since then she has travelled across

D'Ona is finished
2007-10-02 17:40:00
Poor D'Ona she's been perched on her little pedestal since spring and is finally done. She's been very patient while waiting for just a few finishing touches. She's off to our local tea shop tomorrow. Her friend Bea has just left the tea shop for her new home, so D'Ona will take her place. She's just in time for the Autumn leaves to be falling...

Connie is finished
2007-09-30 10:26:00
Ta dah!!!! Connie is finished. She was a joy to work on and such a lot of extras to make for her. If you love the Christmas season the way I do, then this will make a great addition to your holiday decorations. The class starts tomorrow so you haven't missed anything. Kat's class is here. Enjoy and now I'm off to get caught up on some other projects, like the Joggles Shoe Challenge. Give your

Connie the Dollmaker Part 5
2007-09-29 09:34:00
Just a quick update on Connie today. It's a been a full week of activity, but I've managed to finish the little clown which is the last of the little dolls that Connie is making. I still have some little bells to sew on, but you'll see those later. This is my favourite of the little dolls because I just love clowns/jesters, the bright colourful colours and the all the emotions they express. I

Needlework Challenge
2007-10-07 21:35:00
Calling all needlework enthusiasts! Piecework, a fabulous magazine, is hosting a challenge. It's a simple challenge. Just create a pincushion and send it in. The details are here. It's a small project and you might even be lucky enough to win a prize. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I believe in pushing the envelope a little further than the comfort zone. It doesn't matter if you

More pincushion dressforms
2007-11-01 22:49:00
Gee whiz, two posts in two days. I'm on a roll.... I've just finished two more of my pincushion dressforms for our local fabric shop. I thought they looked pretty swishy, and that's a completely unbiased opinion...;o)... They have totally different looks because they simply just took on a life of their own and I just went with the flow. The faces are done with Sherry Goshon's "Joy" pressmold. The

Latest doll
2007-11-01 09:28:00
I've just finished another doll for our local tea shop. He turned out great after a struggle with the pattern. However, getting it done was the important part. He's an original design by Leslie Molen, simply called "The Butler". The original design does not come with the props, I created them because I was having some issues around trying to arrange a tray in his hands to have him serving tea. I

My Shoe Challenge Entry
2007-11-06 21:51:00
Who else is out there and entering the Joggles Shoe Challenge . The deadline is looming, so if you're working on something, there's only a little more than a week at this point to get it finished. I've got mine ready now, just have to get it ready to send. Some details about it. For the base I used a wooden plaque treated with a mosaic design using Shell Laminates from New Zealand, and Frescolina

A couple of things
2007-11-11 13:40:00
For anyone who is entering the Joggles Shoe Challenge, good news. Barb has extended the deadline to December 1st. So if you didn't think you would have time to do an entry, perhaps now you do and for anyone who thought they couldn't get done in time, maybe now you can.... ;o) Also, for you doll makers, don't forget to check out the Cloth Doll Pattern Review blog that Judy Wellnitz has set up.

3 Bags Full
2007-11-24 16:22:00
I took a short break from some orders I was working on, to give myself a rest. Instead of dolls I made this tote bag. It's a design by a local woman and it was a nice project to get me going again. I guess sometimes we need to just stop what we're doing, do something else then get back to it. It does help. This is the first step of the bag. Nothing too unusual right... Just a tote bag with

Lucy
2007-11-29 16:14:00
This is my latest customer order. This is Lucy. Such a cute little raggie doll. She's an original design by Karlene Atkins. Her dolls are similar, but each one does still have it's own charm and she's given each one just a little something different. In this case, Lucy has her own quilted blanket. I've dressed Lucy in her christmas fancies as per my customers wishes. I think she's just adorable
