Popeye the Sailor Volume 1 2007-04-20 15:07:34
Popeye the SailorVolume
1 At last they are doing justice to the Popeye franchise by cleaning up some great animation created by Max Fleischer. Sure you can get the public domain versions of most of the cartoons on this boxed set, but the quality will never come that close to what Warner is offering.
The most popular sailor in animation history is certainly “strong to the finish.” Nearly 75 years after his Silver Screen debut, he’ll bring to DVD for the first time the cartoons that first made him famous when Warner Home Video (WHV), Hearst Entertainment and King Features Syndicate release Popeye the Sailor Volume 1. These classic Popeye animated shorts made Popeye, Olive Oyl and Bluto national pop icons and have been demanded by fans for generations. Available on July 31, 2007, the 4-disc Authorized Edition DVD collection includes 60 original remastered and unedited theatrical shorts created by the legendary Max Fleischer. sandbox wor

Minus is a Plus 2007-04-19 19:27:16
Webcomics are busting all over the net and I am finding some really exciting new ones. Minus
, by Ryan Armand is the latest Eisner nominated webcomic on the net. This strip is real old school in thought abd conception. We are talking Little Nemo in Slumberland old school train of thought. You will see what I mean. See strip>>
Each minus strip is painted on a 15×20" piece of Illustration board. With this comic I am pretending I am making a comic strip for a newspaper in the early 20th century. A special newspaper that lets me use as much color as I want. I’m not much for comic strips so I don’t know how long I’ll be doing this one, so enjoy it while it lasts, I guess? It’ll be updating every thursday until I suddenly stop! Making comics on giant paper is pretty neat though. Yeah. (Ryan Armand)

Droopy 2007-04-19 01:06:47
Twenty-four short cartoons featuring Tex Avery’s beloved Droopy are featured on this collection. The cartoons have been carefully restored from original prints that were originally shown in theaters between 1943 and 1958. Droopy was a dog whose detective skills were both cunning and unrivalled, and his low monotone voice was a favorite among cartoon fans. Tex Avery’s Droopy - The Complete Theatrical Collection is mainly aimed at aficionados of the genre, but may also turn a whole new generation onto the charms of this deadpan dog. Chris Turnham is the cover artist of the book.

When a new girl, Justine, moves to town, Pete Larson — better known as Liar — is smitten. He gets his chance to impress her after a strange spacecraft crashes in the woods. Along with the class science geek, Bobby Ray Dobbs, they discover that the crashed UFO holds an amazing key to the future. But who&rsquo

Making Rich Koslowski’s List 2007-04-26 14:28:28
Who would release a Santa Clause book in the middle of July? "The List" of publishers who would do that would be very small or maybe non. You can view some of Rich’s other work and a free preview of his upcoming book "The List".
What if Santa Claus were real? Suppose that he is. If he were real he would be the single most powerful being on the planet. For "knowledge is power," as the old saying goes, and who has more knowledge than jolly ole Saint Nick? He knows! He knows who’s naughty and he knows who’s nice. He knows…He has a list. Imagine the people who’d want to get their hands on such a list!…

Working Methods 2007-05-03 15:40:31
Comic Creators Detail Their Storytelling And Artistic Processes by John LOWE
Professional comic artists interpret scripts every day as they successfully transform the written word into the visual form. However, rarely do we get to examine the process that is unique to each artist. Unlike any other "how-to" book, Working Methods
puts the minds of comic artists under the microscope, highlighting the intricacies of the creative process step by step. For this book, three short scripts are each interpreted in different ways by professional comic artists to illustrate the varied ways in which they "see" and "solve" the problem of making a script succeed in comic form. Working Methods documents the creative and technical choices MARK SCHULTZ, TIM LEVINS, JIM MAHFOOD, SCOTT HAMPTON, KELSEY SHANNON, CHRIS BRUNNER, SEAN MURPHY, and PAT QUINN make as they tell a story, thus allowing comic fans, artists, instructors, and students into a world rarely explored. Jack Kirby’s Fourth World Omnibus 2007-05-05 15:40:21
Growing up in the 70’s was an exciting time when comic great Jack Kirby
jumped ship from Marvel to DC Comics and took with him his greatest stories. Many will tell you that his work for The New Gods was his most engrossing and creative since he started creating comics in the 40’s. Jack Kirby and Stan Lee were responsible for the creation of today’s top super-heroes at Marvel, and depending who you ask either from the Lee or Kirby camp, they will argue that Kirby was the mastermind behind most of the characters. Lee will squabble that he is the one who concocted all the characters. The test of time might argue otherwise, Jack’s Fourth World
comics are so complex and have stood the test of time as collectors still clamor this tome of work. Now they are collected as they were intended by Jack Kirby, he invisoned a grand scale telling of his characters. The sales said the opposite and most books were cancelled before eve
