The Smashing Pumpkins - Tarantula 2007-05-19 11:29:19 When I heard that The Smashing Pumpkins
are working on a new album, I was definitely excited. But when I reliazed it’s only going to be Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin, I was starting to become skeptical. And when I saw the album cover, I got worried. However, here’s the first single out of Zeitgeist, titled Tarantula and it’s an absolute classic with catchy chunky riffs and a great guitar work. I already listened to it about ten times and I’m getting really excited for the album which will be released on July 7.

Pela - Anytown Graffiti (2007) 2007-05-18 08:31:59

A few days ago, I wrote here about this band and how much I like them even though I’ve yet to listen to their entire album. Well, more than a dozen spins later, I’m coming back to inform you that these guys are absolutely great and that all of you should check out this marvelous debut album. Sure, most of the time I don’t really understand what Billy McCarthy is singing about and his voice might be an acquired taste, but their musicianship is outstanding their sound is fresh and enjoyable. They remind me a bit of Wintersleep, which is another band I completely fell in love with and couldn’t stop listening to for months after I discovered them. Just listen to the break around the 3 minutes mark on Waiting On The Stairs or the frantic rhythm and vocals on Song Writes Itself and you’ll understand what I’m talking about. And what do you know, Pela is the first band to receive two posts from me, that must count for something! Do Read more:Graffiti
Kings Of Leon - Because Of The Times (2007) 2007-05-17 11:24:00

Sometimes a band takes me by surprise. Much like The Veils‘ Nux Vomica, I didn’t expect to like this album because I didn’t care for anything I heard by Kings Of Leon up until now. Then I saw their video for On Call being played on MTV2 a few times and for the first time, Caleb Followill’s voice didn’t annoy me and I actually liked the melody and the harmonies.
So I figured I’d give their new album a try, without really expecting much from it. The album opens with Knocked Up, the album’s longest track (a bit more than 7 minutes) and is quite a surprising album opener. With a slow and demanding bass line in the background, Caleb fiercely sings “I don’t care what nobody says, we’re gonna have a baby” and you can’t help but believe him. Kings Of Leon sound all around American, from their guitar tones to their chosen rhythms, these three brothers and cousin from Tennessee definitely Read more:Times
