Aka "Orders Under Seal" or "Sealed Orders". "Det Hemmelighedsfulde X is the story of Lieutenant Van Hauen, a man very concerned to perform his duty, that is to say, make war while his wife makes love with Count Spinelli, a sinister Count with many obscure intentions ; intrigues about secret sealed war orders given to Herr Van Hauen that are revealed to the enemy will put the lieutenant's honor in question and his physical integrity at stake in a film very well paced and directed, a mixture of spy film, war film and suspense film." Written and directed by Benjamin Christensen, 1913.

Episode Three of Six from the 1996 documentary miniseries produced by Kevin Brownlow and David Gill. Narrated by Kenneth Brannagh, with music by Carl Davis.
This episode covers German silent cinema, especially the films of F.W. Murnau, Fritz Lang, and G.W. Pabst.
Chronicles the birth of European cinema, from the Lumiere brothers to World War I, and then the first golden age of Swedish cinema, from the formation of Svenska Bio to the departure for Hollywood of Stiller and Sjöström. The French build the first studio, invent the traveling shot, and experiment in sound. Max Linder becomes the first comedic star. The Italians do spectacle and early realism. Germans invent film propaganda and have Lubitsch. The Danish cinema is rich before the war. An affectionate portrait of Swedish cinema appreciates its cinematography, led by Jaenzon, its conversion...
The Gold Rush - Charlie Chaplin (1925/1942) 2007-07-07 21:37:00 "The Gold Rush - CharlieChaplin
(1925/1942)" on Google Video
Source: www.arhive.org
The movie was originally released before the invention of sound film. For the 1942 re-release Chaplin composed and recorded a musical score, added a narration (his own voice) and tightened the editing.
Since the film was originally shot at 18 frames per second, the sound version, shown at 24 frames per second, is both shorter and faster than the original silent screenings. This has the side effect of making Chaplin's slapstick routines appear more frantic than before, a fact that had probably influenced Chaplin's decision to shoot Modern Times at silent speed.
