Die Brustmuskel Wette 2006-11-08 09:05:18 The video below is a clip from a German TV show called “Wetten, dass…?“. It first aired in 1981.
In this show regular people (candidates) can come up with something they bet they can do and they get to prove it on the show (given their bet is cool and they are invited). Guests of the show have to guess whether or not the candidate(s) will be able to win their bet. Usually these guests are national and international celebrities or politicians. Thomas Gottschalk has been the host of the show since 1987 (with a break of one year). In the video he is the tall guy with the blonde curls. In Germany he is famous. His outspoken humor and bold outfits are legendary.
Ok, about this video. It’s hilarious! The bet is that the guy on the left can guess what song the two guys on the right are listening to (of course only the two “bodybuilders” can hear the song). How can he guess that? By judging the movements they make with their breast muscles!!! He has five tri
InstallPad 2006-11-09 09:05:07 InstallPad is a software that will help you get programs faster. The idea? On a new installation of Windows, don’t install programs separately. Have one program download them all and install them one after another.
InstallPad takes a list of your favorite programs and will download and install the ones you pick. It doesn’t need to ask any questions, so you can go do more important things. InstallPad can resume downloads you’ve canceled, and can even try and find the latest version of your program online.
If you administrate or develop for Windows, InstallPad can help you get a machine set up with service packs, applications or development tools without the need for CDs or running lots of scripts. With it you can quickly install a host of programs silently, pass arguments to the installers, and run post-installation scripts.
An Indian Summer 2006-11-10 19:15:05 And I already regret accepting this week’s tenant. *grrr* What was I thinking???
In her latest post she rants about her horrible time surfing blogs due to all the - in her opinion - stupid crap people blog about. *DUH* People should not write about what they think other bloggers should or should not post about. Bloggers should produce original content and opinions. Oh wait, am I caught in a loop here? Naw! Freedom of speech rules. And if she can bitch about crap, I can bitch about her crap. *heh*
Seriously, move on, don’t read that crap and don’t surf BE if it’s that bad. Punkt, Aus, Ende.
Blonde girl says she is a Republican. I am European and somehow I don’t like Republicans. In my country Republicans and likeminded parties are borderline rightist extremists. Plus they are rude people and most of their followers are either stupid or retards. Recognize any analogies? Your call.
I do understand that the US Democrats are not super reliable because they chan Read more:Summer
Firefox Tweak Guide 2006-11-10 23:59:53 The folks over at Tweak
guides released a Tweak Guide
for Firefox
2.0.
The first words of this guide set readers straight:
Mozilla Firefox, or simply Firefox for short, is just a free Internet browser. It’s not a cure for cancer. It doesn’t wash your car or make you a frothy coffee. So why all the fuss and hype over Firefox? In a nutshell, the reason is simple: Firefox is a true open source competitor to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.
Following that they put forward a one of a kind user guide for my favorite browser.
They have written a lot of material to read up on, way too much for my taste to be honest. But it’s not like they are teaching us to drive a car. So my approach is to extract only the bits and pieces of information I really need. A few shortcuts and new functions in version 2.0 was what I picked up. The list of preferences in the about:config menu and what they do is very interesting.
What is it you always wanted to know about Firefox? Chances are yo
Sleep Deprivation Makes Us Fat 2006-11-11 15:26:49 The title of the original article is a little less exciting. In Nature (21 September 2006) Helen Pearson suggests to “Sleep
it off“. The author summarizes all data supporting the thesis that there is a link between poor sleep patterns and appetite.
Arne Astrup, a nutrition researcher, first became interested in this field of research when he met a tired, overweight, young girl who was more active than the average kid. Slim parents, nutritious lunch for school, healthy meals at home and still she was fat. So what’s wrong in this picture? Turns out the girl was a night owl, loved to read and watch TV until late at night and she didn’t sleep for more than seven hours.
Her diet? Nine to ten hours of sleep each and every night! The result? Within one month she started to lose weight and her cravings for junk food dropped.
David Allison from the Weight-Loss Wonderland says that increasing sleep is a possible way to control obesity that might even be pleasurable. Quite
guest post - DutchBitch Recommendation 2006-11-12 16:15:47 I was very honored when -t- invited me to be the first to spend a week at her Blog Hang Out and then I totally freaked out when she asked me to do a guestpost while I was at it… As -t-"s blog is obviously all about recommendations, I felt I should get with the program. But what to recommend? On the other hand, I am all for facing challenges head on, so I'll just do as I always do and let the DutchBitch writing-juices flow. Here goes: my virgin guest post on "Recommended"!
After some previous blogging ventures I started my current blog in May 2006. This is my personal blog and I post about anything that pops up in my mind… And lemmetellya… my mind is all over the place… and at times it's totally f***ed up… * satanic grin *
I have learned some things about myself going along: I like writing much more than I thought I would - it comes easier to me than I thought it would - and I write like I talk: a lot and longwinding (STFU, I know! pfffttt), from the heart, a Read more:Recommendation
Blog Hang Out 2006-11-12 16:04:04 Being a guest at Recommended just became a little more exclusive, although it opens the doors to anyone with a blog or website.
I’m introducing Blog Hang Out. The concept is relatively simple. A guest post in trade for one week hang out or longer. The guest post can be about anything, however the topic as well as the blog/website to be linked to should be cleared with me in advance.
The first guest to hang out with me for the next couple of days is DutchBitch with The Dutch Files.
A mommy, but not a mommy blog. No, definitely not! Loud, outspoken, and FUNNY AS HELL! The recent highlights include her experience with a certain someone on a dating site, her dreams of celebrities being disturbed by her kid demanding to be creamed *errrr* to have cream applied to a very delicate spot (that being just half the fun in the story), and her request to all the creative folks out there to Pimp Dutchy’s Bathroom.
If you’re in for the occasional dirty laugh or some plain amusement
referals 2006-11-13 22:06:54 Ever wondered how many people have a link back to your website and who they are? Well, here is a way to find out.
Go to http://www.altavista.com/ or http://www.infoseek.com/
Type this into the searchbar and hit ENTER:
link:[your web page address]
For example: link:http://www.tinsie.net/Recommended
As you may have guessed, this technique only reveals referals registered with AltaVista Search or InfoSeek Search search engines. However, the trick may work on other search engines. Unfortunately Google is not one of them.

The Inner Life of the Cell 2006-11-15 09:05:41
This is one frame from a wonderful flash movie depicting “The Inner Life of the Cell“.
Protein-protein interactions, Lipid Rafts floating in the cell membrane, cargo being transported along the cytoskeleton (as seen in the image above), protein translation, protein sorting and delivery through the Golgi and its vesicles and much more. Every time I watch this movie I discover another detail. It’s awesome!
No clue what I’m talking about? Nevermind, it’s still a beautiful animation with perfect musical highlights. And the little guy in the picture up there (his name is Dynein) will make you smile, too. Every time.
