The William Blakes +++ 2007-04-18 10:18:00 The William
Blakes continues to record new songs and the past week 3 new tracks have been uploaded to Myspace. The band has been so kind to mail me all 3 tracks in high quality and given me permission to post all of them as well. The songs remain difficult to label and still sound something like Talking Heads and Arcade Fire teaming up with Kraftwerk and Phil Spector. Or in the band's own confident words they sound like "something spectacular". Information is sparse so I have no idea who's hiding behind the band name (could be ordinary Joe's or some other band's side project), whether the band will ever play live, is closed to be signed etc. But I really like the songs which probably is what matters the most?+ Innocence and Experience+ Science is Religion+ Secrets of the StateOliver North Boy Choir has recorded a cover version of the disco classic Yes Sir, I Can Boogie. The song can be streamed at the band's Myspace profile and after a few listens I really started enjoying it!I'm
Nothing but music - the endless post? 2007-03-10 05:39:00 This is an ever changing list of some of the songs I've mentioned before in the blog or simply some of the stuff I've found that I find interesting, but have no time to write about. All files have been found somewhere in cyberspace, so they will be available until the artists, record companies, fans etc. decide to remove them. But please leave a comment if some of the links are dead, so I can remove them (I can see that several of the links are broken and I'll try to remove them as soon as possible!)!!!+ Aberdeen - Florida+ Aberdeen City - God Is Going To Get Sick Of Me+ The Airfields - Lonely Halls+ Air - Cherry Blossom Girl+ Airiel - Kiss Me Slowly+ The Alpine - Trigger (A.T.O.C. remix)+ Ambulance Ltd. - Primitive+ Anamia - Butterfly In Paris+ Annemarie - Apple+ Another Band - Flashback+ Anotherstory - Plans+ The April Skies - Rise & Rise Again+ Arab Strap - Where We've Left Our Love+ The Arcade Fire - Rebellion (Lies)+ Architecture In Helsinki - Do The Whirlwind (Hot Chip Remix) Read more:Nothing
Monday evening blogging... 2007-03-05 21:24:00 Peter has a great post on Ether Aura. Lots of good stuff there!!Enzo from polaroid > un blog alla radio > recommends Italian 3-piece A Classic Education. As always I'm completely lost when I try to describe what the music sounds like. Arcade Fire meeting Doves perhaps? Violins, pounding drums and a voice sounding like it could burst any second. It's grand, heartfelt and beautiful. After a few listen you'll love it and still hate it, because it constantly leaves you with a feeling that it's not even close to reaching its full potential. Potential is probably the keyword here....watch out for these guys!+ Stay SonTopping this week's free download chart over at Last.fm is this one by German indie rock band Museum.+ For The Very First TimeFinally I recommend that you give The Golden Revelry from NY a listen. The band plays this nice kind of indie folk rock with an acoustic feel that always seems to be just perfect for a quiet and lazy evening

Friday Evening Blogging... 2007-03-02 21:19:00 In his Flashback Friday
post today, Chris writes about German 80's band Propaganda. It's really difficult to understand that A Secret Wish was released 22 years ago.emodreng & indiepige has posted two of the new tracks by Oliver North Boy Choir. The two dudes running the blog weren't even born when A Secret Wish was released! I'm an old fart - it's as simple as that!Did anyone enjoy those The Alpine mixes yesterday? Here's one more for you!+ Iceland (OffThaWallz/Bourne Riddim Ent. remix)And here's one from the mailbox. Girls Make Me Sick by Butcher Boy from Glasgow, Scotland. It's an excellent guitar (indie) pop tune, which has already caught the attention of several other bloggers. Released February 12 by the small London label How Does It Feel To Be Loved, but still they urge bloggers share it for free. Shoegaze compilation... 2007-03-01 13:18:00 This is a list of Shoegaze/Dreampop tracks found over at Last.fm. It's always quite a challenge searching for music by using the tags, as people seem to have quite different opinions on what Shoegaze/Dreampop actually is. I mean - I've never really thought of The Legends as shoegazers! But I hope these tracks meet this description. No matter what; this certainly is a mixed bag of songs. Some are good and some are - well - not so good. All bands have (some kind of) bios and several of them have more tracks available to download. So if you're a fan of this genre, there is lots and lots of stuff to check out!!!+ Cosmicdust - Without You+ The Telescopes - Another Sky+ My Violent Ego - June La La's+ Broken Robots - Broken Down Lonely+ Molotov Elysian - Today a Mountain Has Been Moved+ Delta Waves - Her Static Energy+ Stellarscope - Spring+ Kite Operations - A Wonder Read more:compilation
Best of...Friday evening edition 2007-02-23 22:11:00 Just watched Trading Places on TV. I know it's 24 years old, but I still rank it as one of the funniest movies ever made. I'm not the movie buff I once used to be, so I won't start any Eddie Murphy rant (because I haven't watched any of his movies the past 10 years). While watching I had a Best Extra Stout from Coopers Brewery (Australia). Must be one of the best beers you'll ever taste!OK - no more best of this and that bullshit. Probably should stick to what I normally do and post some music instead.Sherwood from California has a new album (A Different Light) coming up and gives away a track from it called Song In My Head for free. It's one of those typical and instantly catchy American pop/rock tunes that we all hate to admit actually liking.+ Song In My HeadOver at Last.fm I've sent a request to become a member of a group called Department of Free Sounds (apparently it has to be accepted by someone). Thanks to the recommendations found there, I'm currently busy downloading a Read more:evening

Snow Fell....... 2007-02-21 08:45:00 Every time it's snowing I cannot help posting this fabulous track by The Consultants! I guess the song will forever remain a classic even though the band split up shortly after the release of the (excellent) debut album Work from Home.+ Snow Fell (It's Night)I've always been quite slow, so it's completely new to me that the lead singer Marisha Chinsky of the aforementioned The Consultants went on to join (or form?) a band called Polar Bear Parade. In a post nearly 6 months ago Indie MP3 described the sound of the band "like a poppier version of early Sonic Youth", which I think is spot on.+ Baby Bohemian+ Firehouse+ Mountain LionAnd the rest of the members of The Consultants went on to join My Teenage Stride. I've been familiar with this band for quite some time, but haven't really bothered listening to them at all. Falk recommends....auto-auto 2007-02-16 11:48:00 auto-auto is yet another interesting Swedish band from Gothenburg, but these guys don't belong to the extensive group of indie-pop bands coming from that city. Instead the duo plays synth-pop inspired by Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk etc. as well as finding some inspiration in the more "heavy" industrial electronic names like Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb. The entire 2005 Totem EP (and a remixed version as well) are available for free from the band's webpage (where you can find lots of other stuff as well). Mixed Bag (recommended by J.A.) 2006-09-28 11:25:00 Sometimes I cannot help wondering what Spanish reader José Antonio (in the future he'll be referred to as J.A.) is doing for a living, because he seems to have all the time in the world on his hands searching for new music!Last week I received a lengthy email from J.A. in which he recommended several artists. I cannot say that I like all of the songs he (or other readers) in general recommends, but that particular mail was a real "winner". Lots and lots of good stuff in it, so join the trip and enjoy some of his recent findings!Bobby Baby (what a horrible name) is a 22 years old Swedish girl writing indie pop music (with an electronic twist) and luckily her songwriting skills are a whole lot better than her band/artist naming skills! Come out and take the step back to me....... 2006-09-27 13:25:00 If you're observant you'll notice that I've added The Step by Anamia to the list of my current favorites (in the right column). It's difficult picking just one of the new tracks, but this one is the least noisy and most heartfelt of the 5 new ones. To cut a long story short; Music doesn't get more beautiful than this!In the mailbox this morning I found a link for the 9 minute long single Come Out (etc.) by Norwegian band 120 Days. Spoofing everything from Kraftwerk to Primal Scream it's a cool danceable track.+ Come Out (Come Down, Fade Out, Be Gone)Another one from the mailbox is the terrific Back To Me by US indie pop band The Positions. I agree with the press info that fans of Camera Obscura will (they really should) appreciate this one!+ Back To MeTwo new (or old? - I'm not sure, because that dude is really productive) tracks by my favorite singer/songwriter Pete White are available for download. Mew surfing in Canada???? 2006-09-21 12:50:00 Today is your last chance to enter the Charlie Don't Surf contest. I've only received a few entries so far, so the chances of winning should be pretty decent.Someone left a comment asking if I know where A Triumph For Man by Mew can be purchased online. If you live in Scandinavia or EU you can buy it here. Cannot find it on Amazon, so I don't know if it's possible to buy it if you live in the States?+ Saliva (From Half The World Is Watching Me)In the mailbox this morning, I found a mail recommending US indie pop band Canada
(!). Canada is/are a 7 piece from Michigan, who released their full length debut album This Cursed House in June this year. The band sure deserves to be recommended to as many people as possible. Not just because the music is very good (should appeal to anyone who enjoy the music of Sufjan, The Arcade Fire, My Latest Novel etc.), but also because the band has made 3 songs from the album available as free downloads. I still think that every band should do this, b
Relations..... 2006-09-19 21:29:00 Today I attended a seminar on Investor Relations
, which for the most part was quite interesting. Especially the lecture on how newsfeeds, blogs etc. rapidly are entering the world of IR was rather entertaining. Funny to see how the IRO's in the big companies suddenly are realizing the potential of the web. Really should be old news, but it was almost as if they have "seen the light".So I haven't been anywhere near a computer today, thus preventing me from updating the blog. However I have a little time on my own now (the wife has gone to the cinema and the kids are asleep), so I've just begun emptying the mailbox and listening my way through the stuff. Song will be posted if I hear anything worth wasting your time on!!Bad News by Owen is a nice laid back tune, which is simply perfect at this time of the day, because I'm a quite tired now. Stuff 'n' stuff 2006-09-14 08:19:00 Daddys' girl is supervising today's post. Trivia of the day is that her favorite artist is Pete White, because when he starts to sing, she immediately stops crying. Really no wonder, because he does indeed have the most amazing voice. It's Thursday; and I still like Thursdays a lot! Al though the suckers at Myspace are doing their utmost trying to ruin it, by constantly changing the filenames of the songs. So don't be surprised if lots of links in the blog are not working properly.Listen to the brilliant Cassettes Won't Listen remix of Asobi Seksu's Strawberries. Interestingly this is shoegaze converted into dance! Where did that piano come from? If you're not familiar with the original version, you can find it here.+ Strawberries (Cassettes Won't Listen remix) Peter is high on Monkey by Low which he has found at Subpop a long with several other fine tracks. No wonder that he likes this one, because it's a fabulous (and quite noisy) alternative rock track.+ MonkeyJosé Antonio
Out Of Office 2006-09-12 09:46:00 I have a rather tight schedule today, so unfortunately there won't be much time for writing about or searching for new music. Hopefully the schedule means that I will have something interesting to post in the near future. If everything gets a little too hectic, I probably should take a short break and chill out, while listening to a couple of these tracks.+ Roger O'Donnell - Not Without You+ Roger O'Donnell - Treasure (Acid Paulli remix)+ Kama Aina - Hotaru

Influences are multiple, but doesn't this sound a bit like Grandaddy? The Boyfriends - Once Upon A TimeWith their own words they sound like "4 men in a room. There is only one place to sit". This and that... 2007-04-19 08:36:00 J.A. is really high on the track Over You by Swedish electronic/synth pop one-man project Killing Game. And it certainly is an incredible and very catchy song that must be among the best I've heard so far this year. Unfortunately it's not available for download, so streaming will have to do for now.In a recent interview Avi of It's A Trap lists Hits In The Car as one of his top 3 music blogs. Thank you Avi and trust me when I say that I'm truly, truly flattered.I did a little search over at Myspace today and somehow stumbled upon Swedish part-time project/duo Sons of Brother Justin. Once you listen to these two great indie/shoegaze/dream pop inspired tracks, I feel pretty certain that you'll agree that it's hard to believe that they were written and recorded in just 24 hours.+ The Jury+ TreadmillsThe video for the great new track The Needle In The Butterfly by Danish Americana/Spaghetti Western/Tarantino inspired duo Salem features sequences from the Lars Von Trier movie Europa.
Entakt - Kunsten At Slippe Taget 2007-02-06 08:34:00 Watch the (weird, but very fascinating) video for the new single by Entakt called Kunsten At Slippe Taget. It's one of my favorite tracks from the album, and that piano sounds like Kent meeting Muse. Listen, watch and enjoy! The video is also recommended by DoCopenhagen and Soundvenue.
Hype / Playlist 2006-03-31 15:40:00 Every music blogger seems to be going crazy over Tapes 'N Tapes these days. I've been a bit puzzled over this, because the music didn't appeal to me at all when I listened to it last year! Yesterday I gave the band another try, but it didn't change that I'm still puzzled.Another band getting a lot of exposure is Band Of Horses and I was more or less expecting that this would be another over-hyped band. But lo and behold. The Funeral [mp3] is a wonderful epic song and definitely among the best ones I've heard so far this year. So I immediately bought into the hype and ordered the album. Numbers & Figures / Malory / Ireland 2006-03-30 13:00:00 Today is my 100th day at Myspace and so far I have 504 "friends". That's more than 5 new additions per day. Maaaan I'd be popular if this was real life!According to my Last.fm account I've listened to nearly 26,000 songs since 9th February last year. That's almost 63 songs per day or 5-6 albums. I've been listening to a LOT of music I guess?According to Sitemeter this blog average 77 visits per day (long term) or 153 (short term). Loveless Music Group 2006-03-29 14:48:00 I had a pretty cool time last night listening to a string of unfamiliar artists and songs.
