French Music 2006-03-26 22:14:00 Lots of thanks to Steph for recommending French
band Celluloide to me. The music is cool, catchy, danceable and very 80's inspired electro pop. 3 of the songs available as free download are from the 2004 album Words Once Said, while the final track Wounds Of Love is from the 2002 album Naive Heart. All of the songs are really great and highly recommendable!A 6 track EP called Bodypop was released earlier this month, which probably is something to check out! Elika... 2006-03-22 21:14:00 Autumn Thieves no longer exist, but nonetheless the band posted a bulletin at Myspace today recommending NY duo Elika. Since I enjoyed the shoegaze inspired sounds of Autumn Thieves, I thought it might be a good idea giving Elika a chance. This really fine boy/girl constellation record what they describe as "dreamy music with killer beats", which should give you some idea of what this is all about! Check the picture next to the player at the profile :-) And the song will be added to my Current Favorites again, because it is really great! After finishing my post yesterday I listened a lot to Swedish indie (?) alternative rock band Convoj. So I thought it was a good idea to recommend the two great songs My Timekeeping Heart [mp3] and RAMJAC [mp3] one more time! A 5 track EP was released in April last year on Chalksounds.Peter reminded me that I should check out melancholic London 4 piece Ray. Anotherstory 2006-03-17 22:42:00 What feels like ages ago I mentioned UK rock band Anotherstory. Back then I especially enjoyed the very haunting and catchy Plans, but today I realized that the band has made several other songs available for download (more or less the entire back catalogue). The new (at least to me) songs I've heard have a more quiet and acoustic sound than the previous stuff, but the songs still leave a very good first impression.WebpageMyspacePlans [mp3]Beyond Resolve [mp3]My Mixed Memory Slideshow [mp3]So Average [mp3]Ghetto Child [mp3]

Spleen United/Green Concorde 2006-03-12 10:53:00 The Spleen United
concert Friday evening was fabulous. That's really all there is to say. The concert was rather short, but that aside everything (the music, the sound, the atmosphere, the light show, the new song etc.) was simply perfect. If Spleen United ever plays anywhere near you be sure that you go to see them. The next release (probably a few years away) could be really interesting, because these guys are aiming for the stars! The supporting band GreenConcorde
was a huge and pleasant surprise with their music, which I'll describe as a mix of alternative and noise-rock. A while back I downloaded a few songs by them and I wasn't overly impressed, but that certainly changed Friday evening! Maybe because this kind of music works very well live? I talked briefly to the lead singer (seems to be a very nice and humble guy) after the concert and he informed me that the band has been recording more songs and an album should/will be released later this year!WebpageTen Cities of Green C
The Danish album chart is pretty much a joke once ... 2006-03-10 13:35:00 The Danish
album chart is pretty much a joke once again this week (Danser Med Drenge is probably the worst band ever in the history of Danish music), though two entries are worth mentioning. First of all VETO rises from 57 to 21 which indeed is very positive. Apparently there are a few people in Denmark listening to decent music after all. DMDK the Depeche Mode tribute enters at no. 36. This is worth mentioning because the cover versions are by some of the better Danish bands (e.g. Moi Caprice, Figurines, EPO-555 and Diefenbach). Stream the songs here.Anamia keyboardist Mogens Møller has a small side project called tWAMi, where he composes and plays electronic music inspired by Moby, Jean-Michel Jarre etc. At first I was a bit hesitant towards listening to it, because this kind of music doesn't really fit with the alternative/indie wave I'm currently riding. However the music turned to be a real surprise, because it's playful, entertaining and very catchy. Might even be perfect for

A Tiger - Woke Up Early The Day I DiedI found a promo copy of the debut album by US band Track A Tiger in my mailbox the other day. So far I've listened to it a few times and I'm really impressed. The songs are a pleasant and (at times) playful mix of indie, pop, folk rock, country etc. and though the more up-tempo songs like Glad To Be Scattered and Happy are standouts, none of the 9 tracks will leave you disappointed. The only complaint I can think of right now is that the album runs less than 33 minutes.WebpageGlad To Be Scattered [MP3]Sound As Ever [MP3]Seashaken Heart [MP3]Phonodrive - MusicA copy of Music by Germans Phonodrive arrived a while back, so I thought it was about time to give it a few spins. Montt Mardie... 2007-04-20 20:21:00 I just took a close look at Falk's Last.fm page and saw that he's been listening a lot to 1969 by Swedish singer Montt Mardie today. Curious as I am, I had to give it a listen and I'm glad that I did, as it turned out to be one of those very catchy and charming pop songs. According to his webpage he "enjoys movies from the fifties, music from the sixties and comicbooks from the seventies" and you certainly find lots of 60's inspiration in this track (and in his other stuff as well). And trumpets are always welcome and highly enjoyable in up-tempo and happy pop songs. The track is taken from the double album Clocks/Pretender (which seems to be some kind of compilation) that was released on Hybris earlier this week.+ 1969+ New York (another album track)
Dorsia...On Certain Illusions 2007-04-20 12:58:00 Dorsia is a new and quite ambitious Danish one-man project playing catchy and somewhat 80's inspired pop music, which (if the band's Myspace profile is to be trusted) is influenced by The Wall Street Journal! I'm not really certain what is meant by that, unless of course NASDAQ and the oil prices serve as major sources of inspiration? Another explanation could be (after reading this) that people in general shy away from admitting what they really think and feel, so he (T. R. Jorgensen) is simply trying to provoke all of us by saying that he's a snob and wants to live life on 1. class? Or perhaps it's a reference to the vanity and superficial lifestyle described in American Psycho (thank you anonymous)? Oh well - you can try figuring it out yourself if you like, while listening to the 3 tracks from the promotion EP On Certain Illusions
(which I definitely think you should). As mentioned above this is pure pop music with lots of keyboards and stuff, and especially the first track Un
The name is.....Wendy 2006-10-31 09:28:00 Once again J.A. pulls an ace from up his sleeve and sends me a mail recommending a band that (almost) leaves me with my jaw dropped on the floor. This time he introduces me (and the rest of you) to Swedish band Wendy
; a 6 piece that for some odd reasons still seems to be living in obscurity (22 "friends" at Myspace). This is pure pop music, or with the words of J.A.; "big pop music", so ridiculous catchy and energetic that you really should prepare yourself for it to crawl into the back of your head and stay there for quite some time. The two tracks below are from the 3 track Angst EP released in 2005 and according to the band's webpage a new EP called Angst Zwei Drei will be out soon.+ First Against The Wall+ Killer Whale
Airplanes made of paper or feathers?? 2006-10-27 08:58:00 My daughter is doing just fine again, so here I am, back a work today. Unfortunately I don't have that much time on my hands today (work didn't do itself yesterday), so I'm taking the easy way out and posting a couple of tracks found in the mailbox this morning. They come from a Seattle one-man project called Riding Paper Airplanes
and the music is described as a combination of: "the subtle electronic nuances of The Postal Service and The Notwist with the bombastic anthem-pop of U2 and Ride." Not exactly a modest/humble description, though Homecoming Weekend In A Small Town is a pretty good one. But you can always judge that yourself!!+ Feathers+ Homecoming Weekend In A Small Town Read more:paper
Evening Cleaning... 2006-10-24 11:44:00 I've removed links to a few blogs that are no longer being updated. Seems like a lot of MP3 bloggers are throwing in the towel these days. Wonder why?My Current Favorites list has been updated!Spanish band Metropol is sweeping through bloggerland! There are songs everywhere.... 2006-10-17 08:57:00 I have a truckload of songs
I really should spend a little time listening to today, because the stream of new music never seems to dry out and my mailbox is breathing for air. So I've downloaded files and deleted mails in bunches this morning as well as checking out a few recommendations in other blogs. Once I've listened to the songs, I'll post a few comments on the stuff I think is worth your time!Peter sent me a mail last night stating that I'd be eternally sorry if I didn't check out N.Y. band Dirty On Purpose. Now that's a strong statement, but I'm sure glad he "forced" me to listen to this great band! Peter has 4 songs here.Several people (including Peter) have recommended the new track by Vega 4 called Bullets. This one is pretty much a no-brainer, because it's a terrific and very catchy pop/rock track.+ Bullets (zip file)Swedish duo Vision System sounds like a mix of early Depeche Mode, Cause & Effect, De/Vision and Danes Portland, so you know what to expect. Friday Round-Up.... 2006-10-13 08:45:00 Have you downloaded the new songs by Moi Caprice? I seriously doubt that you'll hear a better and more gorgeous song than Drama Queen this year, so I definitely think you should do it!J.A. compares Danish quartet Harmony Boys to Moi Caprice. Vocally there are some parallels, but musically the "boys" have lots of work left.+ Sunshine LoverPromising Swedish band Du Pacque has uploaded a new track to Myspace. by [Ingenting] called Punkdrömmar. Once again Labrador proves what marketing is all about and gives away a new single for free! I'm sure this will only help boosting the sales of the band's second album Mycket väsen för ingenting, which will be out on October 18!!The first single of the album Släpp In Solen was a wonderful pop song, but despite its energy and 70's (pop/punk) inspiration, the new one is quite a disappointment.+ Punkdrömmar+ Släpp In Solen
Comments, mails, thoughts etc...... 2006-10-02 10:55:00 Rodolfo has once again mailed a long list of recommendations and hopefully I'll be able to work my way through it during the week. As always it's much appreciated. For the fans of Rodolfo I've posted a couple of tracks by one of his recent recommendations below. White Light Parade is from Leeds, UK and the music is indie rock (with a bit of punk influence).+ Wait For The Weekend+ Here It ComesI think Peter won our little Hybrasil "discussion". The Legends - Facts and Figures 2006-08-24 09:00:00 The new album called Facts and Figures
by Swedes The Legends
will be released September 6 on (what probably is the best label in the world) Labrador. The two first singles from the album are available as free downloads and both of them are short (less than 3 minutes), catchy and will make you feel like dancing. So this will be the last post for 5 days!Danish quartet Skywriter released the album Where Both Worlds Never Meet a couple of months ago, which I have to admit went completely unnoticed by me. However, yesterday the band sent me a "friend" request at Myspace and when I realized that four songs of the album are available for download; I decided to give the boys a listen. tWAMi meets Green Concorde... 2006-05-23 21:07:00 tWAMi has remixed the track This Time by Danish alternative rock band GreenConcorde
and the new version is available for free from his re-designed webpage. I'm not at all familiar with the original version of the song, but I suspect that lots of synths and drums/beats (?) have been added to make it a bit more danceable. Anyway this is a fantastic and utterly catchy track, which hopefully will give both acts involved the attention they both fully deserve!!+ This Time (Remix)

What's on the jukebox tonight? 2006-05-06 19:58:00 I've received several "friend" requests at Myspace the past few days and my old "compadres" Chris and Peter have posted a bunch of MP3's, so there is plenty of stuff for me to dig into tonight! The self-titled debut album by Danish band Late Night Venture received a rather mixed review in our local newspaper today.
