2007-03-16 08:42:00
There existed a need for a new radiation logo that inherently tell anyone, whether a child or an uneducated person or an educated person, the dangers of being close to harmful radiating objects. Every year, many people get injured or killed by large source of radiations because they don’t understand what the three cornered trefoil (the international radiation logo) means. Thus, people dissemble and take-off the trefoil from objects that generate hazardous radiations, which then results in fatal accidents when closely encountered with them. In order to reduce the numerous deaths and fatal injuries from accidental exposure to large radioactive sources, the International Atomic and Energy Agency (IAEA) along with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) developed a new radiation logo that clearly educates the masses about the risks of being close to radiations. In 2001, IAEA and ISO employed human factor experts, graphic artists, and radiation protection experts to com

Chicago’s Olympic Logo, quenched!
2007-05-29 01:04:12
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has asked Chicago to re-design its 2016 Olympic logo. Last October, Chicago officials unveiled a logo as the visual element of their 2016 Olympic bid. The logo featured a torch with a flame that resembled the city’s skyline. It was designed to commemorate Chicago’s architectural style, while focusing on the idea of “a city that rose from the ashes” during the 1871. The orange flame looked a lot like the famous Sears Tower, whereas, the colored blue and green torch’s body represented Lake Michigan and the city’s park system including Millennium Park, respectively. Created by Chicago-based VSA Partners Inc., the 2016 Chicago Olympic logo was featured on billboards and various merchandises including T-shirts, before it was finally turned down by the IOC earlier this week. According to the officials of IOC, Chicago’s logo was rejected because the IOC rules stated that the candidate city logos should not “contain the Olympic symbol,

London 2012 Olympic Logo, unveiled and disapproved!
2007-06-05 05:08:24
On July 2005, the International Olympic Committee declared London as the host of 2012 Olympic Games. Since then, London has been a subject of great transformations, renovations and inventions. From newly build venues to improved public transport system, everything is being carefully planned and implemented. However, their creativity backfired on June 4, 2007, with the launch of London 2012 Olympic logo. The new London 2012 Olympic logo is an iconic representation of the date 2012, in a graphical manner, which is designed in a wide range of shades of red, pink, green, orange and blue. Furthermore, the London 2012 Olympic logo is inscribed with the word London onto the digit “2” and the official Olympic five-rings drawn on the digit “0”. The logo was designed by Wolff Ollins and costs £400,000. According to Seb Coe, chairman of the 2012 organizing committee, the new London 2012 Olympic logo “is the vision at the very heart of our brand”. At the launch ceremony, Mr. Coe adde

Mirror, Mirror, on the wall; Which’s the “Ugliest Logo” of them all!
2007-06-04 01:27:38
It seems as if there is a never ending line of competitions about to take place this year. Earlier, we have all witnessed the Oscars (finally! Marty won an Oscar, though he did not deserve it this year), the World Cup, and most recently Miss Universe pageant. But one thing I never expected to see was a competition that recognizes the ugliest logo design. Furthermore, it gives the winning logo a makeover as part of their acknowledgment. Duh! At one point I thought who would enter such a competition? And what is the whole point of it? Then at another, I realized why not. When Razzies can give awards to actors who defy the definition of acting by performing pathetically and immaturely, some logo designers also deserve appreciation on a similar note. Thus, a competition by the name of “The Ugliest Logo Competition” was produced by Glow Marketing, portraying some of the “Ugliest” logo designs of the year. Glow Marketing wanted an opportunity that will enable them to express the comp

Imitating Logos
2007-06-12 02:05:01
Someone had rightly said, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”. But this imitation isn’t limited to just people. Movies, occasions, brands and even logos have been victimized by the art of parody. But rather than offending an entity, parodies are meant to provide absurdity and humor to its character. So when it comes to logos, many famous brands have been a target of logo parodies. Below are some of the famous logos parodies that are not only funny and witty, but also, present viewers with vague criticism about the product. U.S. Political Campaign Logos
2007-06-20 04:28:15
In light of recent events, one cannot help noticing that something very fundamental yet crucial is about to happen in the political scene of the United States. The upcoming U.S. presidential elections in 2008 will set the foundation for the next four or may be eight years of America’s decisions and their influence on the US nation and the rest of the world. As a part of their campaign activities, the Democrats and the Republicans are busy trying to convince the nation about their ideologies and views on various issues ranging from withdrawal of troops from Iraq to homeland security, and from environmental issues to stem cell research and many more. Some of the candidates are opposing their adversaries’ views while others share similar opinions. Yet, what remain contradictory (and for good reasons) among the candidates are their political campaign logos. Let’s have a look at some of the most important political campaign logos. Father’s Day Logos-2007
2007-06-19 04:17:55
On June 17, 2007 many search engines displayed Father ’s Day logos on their webpages as a tribute to fathers all over the world on the special occasion. Google Doodle featured ‘a father figure’ relaxing by spending his day with his kid in its father’s day logo. Dogpile showcased the activities that are closely related with fathers in their father’s day logo, with a greeting. Yahoo, on the other hand used Flash. Their father’s day logo had a Flash animation of a father teaching kite-flying to his son. Interestingly, Ask.com did not feature a father’s day logo or any related element, which is a bit surprising. Maybe, it’s because of their new site layout. Inaugurated in the early twentieth century and observed as a secular holiday, Father’s Day complements Mother’s Day in celebrating fatherhood and parenting by males.

Compaq’s New Logo
2007-07-16 03:59:43
In 2002, Hewlett-Packard (HP) acquired its rival Compaq Computers generating much controversy inside and outside the company. The US$ 25 billion deal cost the HP’s then CEO, Carly Fiorina, her job. However, buyers found the merger a welcoming change and have since recognized Compaq as a part of HP. But soon after the merger, a new problem was in sight for HP as consumers failed to understand the difference between HP and Compaq PCs. After five years of unsuccessful tagging of the HP brand on Compaq products, HP recently unveiled a new Compaq logo at the “Making Connections” event in Shanghai. The new Compaq logo was introduced by HP’s Senior Vice President for Global Marketing, Satjiv Chahil, although, the new Compaq logo had already been on many Compaq laptops and PCs. The new Compaq logo is more modernistic in its approach, with a futuristic union of the letters ‘C’ and ‘Q’. In the new Compaq logo, a letter ‘C’ is added in the place of the lettering COMPAQ, with

Recycling Logo, defined!
2007-07-18 05:26:43
Recycling is a process in which useful materials are remanufactured into new products. It is estimated that 50% of an average household waste can be recycled. However, only 9% of that waste is actually recycled. If the remaining percentage of that waste is recycled and if recycled products are bought and used, there will be a drastic increase in energy savings and a cut down in the quantity of useful materials being wasted. It is, thus, necessary to ensure that the products we use and buy can be recycled. In order to do that, a good way to identify recycled products is to look for the recycling logo known as the “mobius loop”. The mobius loop is the international symbol of recycling that consists of three chasing arrows, twisted to form a triangle. It can widely be seen on bins, drink cans, bottles, newspapers, etc. to signify that the products can be recycled. The mobius loop or the recycling logo is available in different types, which are often intermixed and misunderstood. If

2016 Tokyo Olympic Logo
2007-07-20 01:26:08
The 2016 Summer Olympic Games are speculated to be the most exciting and culturally rich, major future sports event in the world. The organizers have promised the worldwide spectators a brilliant show, while offering the host city attractive financial incentives and a chance to promote the country’s cultural and social values. So far, the decision of the host city is yet to be announced by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on October 2, 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark. However, few cities have managed to emerge as strong contenders to host the 2016 Olympics and the Paralympics on their home ground. This has led to a demanding bidding process, administered by the IOC, in which the Committee observes the candidate cities’ gaming facilities, availability of stadiums, infrastructure and other features which can prove a smooth arrangement of the Olympic Games in that city. Earlier this year, Japan expressed its intentions of hosting the 2016 Olympics in Tokyo . Since then, there has

2007-07-24 03:42:45
It’s that time of the week again when we announce our winner for the LogoBlog Poll. Last week’s poll was about the upcoming 2008 Presidential Campaign logos. We asked our viewers and readers to vote for their favorite logo, out of the 5 nominations from the 2008’s US Presidential Campaign. We narrowed our selection of 2008 Presidential Campaign logos to those of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Jim Gilmore, Rudy Giuliani and John Edwards. Among them, Barack Obama’s campaigning logo got the highest percentage of votes, thereby winning the week’s LogoBlog Poll. His logo got 42% of votes whereas, Clinton’s, Giuliani’s and Edward’s got 13%, 21% and 17% respectively. Jim Gilmore’s campaign logo received a disappointing 8% of the total votes. Without a doubt, Obama’s presidential campaigning logo was the best in the bunch and probably one of the best so far. Thus, it isn’t a big surprise to see Barack Obama logo win this poll. On the other hand, the response to the
