Graduation
2008-12-05 02:11:00
After being taught to chain up for the past couple of weeks, Brynn has 'graduated' to the dog pens with all the big girls. She was so well behaved during her training on the chain, I did not think it necessary for her to be tied up any longer. She was far easier to train for the chain than the koolies I have taught, she's been nice and calm and quiet (most of the time anyways ^-^).Did I hear right

A Dilemma
2008-11-30 13:58:00
All my life i have lived on farms, Dairy farms and dryland farms.. I have never known any different.Ever since i was little all i wanted t do when i grew up was something in agriculture, something with animals and outdoors where i can enjoy the true beauty of this wide land. My mum grew up on the land as did my Dad, he was a dairy farmer, so thats probably where my love of the land comes from. And

Sunset..
2008-11-22 03:02:00
I love taking photos of sunsets. When we lived in gippsland, we got some absolutely spectacular sunsets. Haven't had any really good ones down here in Tassie yet. Hoping we'll get some worth photographing in summer.. In the meantime I have discovered how awesome it is to take photos of dogs into the setting sun, so they are nothing more than canine shaped silhouettes, even though i sometimes have

Evies Training Woes
2008-11-21 03:10:00
Evie got sick of waiting for me to post an update on her, but i promised i would do it today. Just for her. :)Bout Time!Well Evie has had a very big break from the sheep.. We thought it might calm her down a bit because she was so fast when working them, she wore the sheep out too quick and herself as well. It is very hard to get her to steady up. I mean, I can tell her to 'steady' and she respond

New Look
2008-11-20 03:28:00
I was sick of the colour of the template i was using so i gave it a bit of customization :) I also changed the top banner. Thought it needed an update. I've featured Brynn, Evie and Dixie as they're the ones I am concentrating on the most with sheepdog training..Hope youse like it! :D

Dixie Dramas
2008-11-17 03:56:00
Last time i posted about Dixie 's training was late september and she was doing very well working on the wiltshire horns.. Well since then we have had a few of issues....Shortly after my last update on her, we decided to give the wiltshires we were using her on a break and we sent them up to my grandparents place to fatten them up some more. That only left me with the weaned lambs for training the

Miss Brynn
2008-11-16 03:16:00
Got some new pics of Miss Brynn uploaded at last! She is now a big 4 MONTHS and is still growing dramatically, she is loosing her baby toothes and has now passed Evie in height and isn't far behind Nancy and Dixie! I think she is going to be between the size of Skeeter (the biggest of our girls) and Darcy (2nd biggest). The man who bred Brynn, James Ryan was out at our place a couple of weeks ago

2008-11-10 03:36:00

We took Brynn and Darcy for the ride, except for a little spew accident Brynn had in the car, they were both great and I think t

Brynn Update
2008-10-20 03:13:00
Brynn is now 13 weeks. She is growing sooo quick! I had her at the Vet in Sheffield last Thursday for her vaccinations and she weighed in at 9.5kg! Almost as heavy as miss Evie who is nearly 18 months older! HahaBrynn has a beautiful personality, can be a real sonk of a dog but at times. She just loves getting a pat, climbing all over me, licking and just sitting quietly with me. She is just so de

Brynn In ActionOriginally uploaded by Madeleine BianconHere she is! :DI have other photos but am too busy at the moment to post em..Brynn is absolutely amazing, after a week she has settled in really well, her temperament is so much calmer to that of a Koolie (well any of the koolies i have had anything to do with). She is very attentive and already very loyal, will just sit quietly with me, when

I know its only short but if make the clips any longer, they don't seem to upload properly..She turns of the sheep once during this clip but she did it increasingly more later in the lesson..I have advised to try her in a larger paddock, so i'll do that tomorrow and see how she goes..

Dixie's Update
2008-09-03 04:46:00
Gave the 2 girls a rest today from their lessons. .Dixie is still coming along great EXCEPT that she has started turning away from the sheep when she goes to change direction, instead of keeping her eyes on them all the time.. It is weird, it's like she loses concentration or something. I have tried calling her back as soon as i see her starting to turn but it hasn't really helped. I have been adv

Dixie, Evie and I have been quite busy lately. Evie has had 6 lessons on the sheep since saturday, Dixie's had 4.Evie is steadied herself quite dramatically and now paces with the sheep (still has to be told at times though), she is getting better at the stop. We still need to work on her stop at the top of the cast. I took her out in the top paddocks on the weekend and just let her continually br

'Brynn'
2008-08-31 03:47:00
That is the name I have decided for my little pup.. 'Ryan's Brynn' I was sent some new shots of her today from her breeder, and thats when the name just stuck.. The name 'Brynn' is welsh, it means "hill".. Just thought you'd like to know that ^-^She is the most gorgeous puppy, lovely markings and strong colouring..Her breeder said that she is a very social and outgoing puppy, he also said that she

Friday At Last
2008-08-29 04:19:00
Oh My doG! Friday ... Yay!!!! Mum wants me to give Miss Dixie 3 lessons on the sheep this weekend, she making major progress.. I think I'm gonna start giving her lessons during the week like I do with Evie. Had Evie out in the top paddocks during the week, working on her square flanking by making her cast out round the dam, she is doing so well. But I still have a bit of trouble with her trying to

This is one awesome camera! I took it out this morning after brekkie when I took the dogs for a walk around the paddocks. I was a little worried with it earlier, after I took a few shots and reviewed them in the playback and they all seemed to be slightly blurred. I didn't know whether it was the lens or whether I needed to adjust the settings on it.. But this afternoon after I had given Evie and
