Significant Songs, Pt. 2
2008-12-03 21:09:37
11. "Heaven or Hell" - Salt n' Pepa (1993): Very Necessary was the first CD that was my own when I was little. I had to choose between it and an Offspring album (Smash, I presume), and I chose Salt n' Pepa! I don't remember which songs I liked when I was little, but I like "Heaven or Hell" now, so that's what I'm going with. Embedding for this video has been disabled, but you can watch it here.12.

The name of the band is Gong and the album is You. Released in 1974, it is a complete space-age trip-out that is recommended for those who like...utter weirdness. I dunno, I suppose anyone into Can or maybe even King Crimson or Pink Floyd might get this, but it's hard to explain. It has some new age elements, but more like an astral plane-travelling-new age than a granola bar-eating-new age, if th

Glorious Song Titles
2008-08-08 21:45:49
Songs are generally titled based on what is repeated in the chorus, or at least something that is mentioned in the song that is key. But there are plenty of songs that have titles that, while not mentioned explicitly in the song, are essential to understanding the song properly. Take The Velvet Underground's "Venus in Furs". Nowhere in the song is the title said, but is implied everywhere in the m
