yesterday signed an update to the tax treaty between the two countries from 1982. The ammended treaty is “particularly important at a time of economic uncertainty”, said New Zealand Ambassador Roy Ferguson.

Environment tax on flights to NZ 2008-11-27 07:17:58 British Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s pre-budget report includes a proposed a $240 enviromental tax on flights
to New Zealand, which will come into effect by 2010. The increase aims to penalise travellers using environmentally-damaging fossil fuels.
To help offset carbon emmissions, passenger levies will increase the further you fly so Kiwis travelling home from the UK will be affected.
