"I Just Don't Get Twitter"
2008-12-01 11:12:15
I've got several friends who have tried out Twitter after I bugged them enough, but for the most part, they're still just not getting it.  If you're in that camp, I understand. I didn't "get it" at first either...  However, I'm guessing that's because most of your tweets are announcements about whether or not you chose to super-size your value meal, or what time you woke up this morning.

Interesting new iPhone Media Shopping Feature
2008-11-21 16:08:24
I stumbled across a post by Kevin Tofel of JKontherun.com.  It talks about a great new technology that allows you to take a picture of a book, CD, or DVD, and it will instantly search the major online providers and give you available prices that are found. It seems like a really handy feature for when you want to price-shop, or if you run across a friend's book and you want to

A Sneak Peek on How Some Top Twitterers Tweet
2008-11-21 11:33:23
I was about to post a reply to someone who had commented on an earlier post about Twitter, and decided it should be a blog post instead.  In a nutshell, someone commented with: "Thanks for the tips.  I'll check into Twitter after I learn more about Active Rain." Although I admire your discipline to not bite off more than you can chew -- in this case -- I think Twitter & AR go hand i

The Power of Twitter: A Denver Meetup Case Study
2008-11-19 17:23:14
OK, here's another post for all of you who are still on the fence about "that silly little chat-thingy called Twitter ".  I had been going through the motions, and when I went to a conference a couple weeks ago, I saw the potential.  Now, after last night after an event called #Denver Tweetup... I'm sold.  I'm officially taking the position of "You are absolutely crazy if you don't ju

Organic Traffic vs. Paid Advertising. Which is Better?
2008-11-18 14:32:51
I keep running across posts talking about paid traffic or advertising as bad things, and I just can't help but throw my hat in the ring. Let me start by saying that if you're a single agent, and don't ever plan on building a team or having an assistant - there is no need to read further.  As long as you're doing an excellent job, referrals will take care of themselves.  If that is the ca

The Real Estate Tweet Plan That Won't Cramp Your Style
2008-11-18 10:19:51
Here is a great post from @Nik_Nik I thought was worth sharing for those of you still on the fence about twitter, but haven't made the jump quite yet.Via Nicole Nicolay:  Now more than ever real estate twits are working twice as hard. Do you really have time to tweet all day while you’re showing 18 houses, writing multiple contracts, and consulting with your clients? If you do, great&

Internet Leads are WORTHLESS!!!
2008-11-17 08:02:36
As the owner of a Colorado real estate company, I end up "talking shop" quite often with other Realtors®, and conversation inevitably ends up around our online business model and how our agents depend almost entirely on internet leads for getting new business.  No cold calls. No farming. No open houses.  Just internet leads.  In response, the Realtors® I'm talking with usual

I learned everything I need to know about Social Media on Twitter
2008-11-14 13:12:41
I've been on Twitter for several months now, and as my list of followers keeps growing, I occasionally get asked "How do you get so many followers?"  It's a bit hard to explain in 140 characters (the limit on Twitter), so I kept saying I'd write a post about it some day...  Now that I've got an Active Rain account, I figured I'd make my experience with Twitter my inaugural post. I have
