Keith Richards Snorted His Father's Ashes with Cocaine
2007-04-04 01:58:00
One of the world's most famous rock guitarists, Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, has never tried to hide the fact that he did lots of cocaine and other drugs, like heroin, for many years. He almost single-handedly put the drugs behind the rock motto "sex, drugs and rock and roll."Claiming now to be drug-free, Richards said he once mixed some of his father's ashes with cocaine and snorted it. "The strangest thing I've tried to snort? My father. I snorted my father," Richards, 63, told the British music magazine NME on April 2nd. His father, Bert Richards, died in 2002 at the age of 84."He was cremated and I couldn't resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow. My dad wouldn't have cared. ... It went down pretty well, and I'm still alive."The photograph of Mr. Richard's senior (courtesy of Rock Junket) shows Keith's Dad backstage a year before his death and subsequent cremation. Something tells me this is a late April Fool's joke, or maybe Richards doesn't know what h

Google Goes Down the Toilet with Wireless Broadband; Users Report Visits from Cartman, Disappearing Mooninites and mini-Shreks
2007-04-02 01:28:00
Google is the world's most visited website, but today they put themselves in the toilet. But Google is already reporting approximately 24,000 new subscribers have ordered their new and revolutionary (some would say disgusting) wireless routers for free broadband service. Offering a free broadband service called TiSP, Google says that by lowering a wireless Google-made router into a toilet, users can link their computers' to fiber-optic nodes through existing sewer pipes. While most pre-odor customers have experienced problems with configuring the device, others are reporting some strange incidents. There are at least 13 reports of the devices themselves coming back up through their toilets transformed as mooninites and various characters from the popular hit TV show South Park, most particularly the intrepid and vulgar Cartman. "Respect my authoritaaahhhh, you piece of S*IT!, screw you!" Cartman was quoted as telling a Los Angeles Google TiSP subscriber Willy Nilly. Nilly received hi

Source of Hillary Big Brother Apple Spoof Ad Revealed
2007-03-22 00:16:00
Breaking News.A company called Blue State Digital working for the Barack Obama campaign has fired an employee responsible for the famous Hillary Clinton Apple ad "Big Brother " spoof video that has made headlines this week and has been viewed online more than one million times. The company, FOX News said, was founded by members of Howard Dean's Internet campaign team that made history with raising millions of dollars in grassroots online campaigns, changing forever the way political campaigns are run in America. The actual creator of the video, Philip de Vellis, said he created the video outside of work and resigned as a result. That conflicts with Blue State's claim that de Vellis was fired. De Vellis also said he is proud of his work and does not regret it. (If I was this guy's lawyer or PR person, I'd tell him to shut his mouth. He's looking at a good chance Apple Inc. is going to go after him for copyright infringement. Guarantee he'll regret it then.)Obama's campaign told the

Corpse On a Plane Upgraded to First Class
2007-03-20 02:27:00
What is the policy of an airline if someone dies aboard the plane while in flight? Apparently on British Airlines an in-flight corpse gets an upgrade from economy class to first class. What's so bad about that, right? It's the least they can do (health officials please debate this) for the elderly Indian woman who expired shortly after take-off on a flight from New Delhi to London. Passengers in the first class cabin woke to a commotion that was not just air turbulence. Businessman Paul Trinder, 54, told London's Daily Mail that he woke up in the darkened cabin to what he later learned was a body being moved around "like a sack of potatoes."Trinder said that air turbulence was causing the body to "rock and roll" all the place even though the body was strapped in with a seat belt for the five hour flight. A British Airways spokesperson, responding to Trinder's criticism at handling the event said: "...all actions are governed primarily by issues of safety, for example, the deceased m

Geritol, Massive Sun Shade and Volcanoes Might Save Earth, Scientists Claim
2007-03-16 20:22:00
Scientists around the world are coming up with ways to help combat global warming, including a 'Geritol solution', a massive sun-shade over the earth and man-made volcanoes.Yes, those are just some of the ideas from scientists around the world to help fight global warming, according to the Associated Press. One professor at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California said the proposed "remedies" show just how desperate we are: "Of course it's desperation,” professor Stephen Schneider said.“It's planetary methadone for our planetary heroin addiction. It does come out of the pessimism of any realist that says this planet can’t be trusted to do the right thing,” Schneider said.Don't be surprised to see all kinds of interesting, strange and plain old stupid ideas in coming months. The ideas are spewing like an erupting volcano (scientists want to build man-made volcanoes to emit more sulphur into the atmosphere) after billionaire Richard Branson offered a $25 million prize last

2007-03-16 01:24:00
The Bush administration is in the midst of yet another political, potentially legal, scandal as details surface about the firings of dozens of federal attorneys that apparently were not favored by the Bush White House.MTB is currently working on obtaining the original emails, but a preliminary leak of the documents show the following: (UPDATE: VIEW PDF of "Karl Rove Email")Attorney General Alberto Gonzales considered eliminating low-performing federal prosecuters but was told by a top aide that such a house-cleaning "would certainly send ripples through the U.S. attorney community if we told folks they got one term only."The emails between Gonzales and his former chief aide, Kyle Sampson, indicate that at least 15 percent to 20 percent of federal prosecutors were slated to be eliminated. An email between two White House staffers dated Jan. 6, 2005 is causing particular concern for the Bush administration. The email, titled "Question from Karl Rove," "Karl Rove stopped by to ask you (ro

Basketball Coach Gives Birth Then Goes to Championship Game
2007-03-15 00:07:00
Talk about team loyalty. University of Nebraska at Kearney women's basketball coach Carol Russell is "never" late for practice or a game. In fact, she is notoriously on time and expects that from her players and her own children. But Russell was about three minutes late for the beginning of her team's championship game last night. The coach had give birth only hours before the game, so she had a most acceptable reason for being late (especially her first time).Just about five hours before the start of the North Central Region basketball tournament in Grand Forks, North Dakota, the coach gave birth to a 6 pound baby boy. But she didn't let that stop her from being there for her team."I could have watched the Webcast, but I wanted to be there for the girls because they've been working so hard for this all year," Russell told the Associated Press.By half-time Russell and her players were tiring out."I usually stand up the whole game, but I didn't have the energy," she said Russell.Un

FLASH: "Getting Hot In Here" - Astronaut Love Emails Revealed
2007-03-07 22:51:00
Emails from the worldwide publicized love triangle among three NASA astronauts - and ended in an arrest for attempted kidnapping - have been revealed. The emails were leaked from the state attorney's office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, which has jurisdiction over the bizarre events little over a month ago when former NASA astronaut Lisa Nowak somehow saw the emails and drove nearly 1,000 miles in diapers to and attacked Colleen Shipman with pepper spray in Orlando, Florida. In building a case against Lisa Nowak for attempted kidnapping, the state attorney's office subpoenaed emails sent among the three astronauts. The content of the fascinating emails are saucy and provocative. In one email exchange between the target of Nowak's maniac plan, Colleen Shipman writes to Officer William Oefelein on January 8 of this year: "Lots of love coming your way...and kisses and a great big giant hug with my legs around you." Oefelein replies sportively but does not acknowledge her racy comment: "So

Franck and Ludivine Larmande of Michigan got quite the surprise yesterday when a DHL express driver delivered what he thought were bubble wrapped pieces for a table. But the Larmande's were shocked when they discovered a human liver. As they unwrapped the second package, they stopped when they saw the ear of a human head. "My husband started to unwrap one and said, 'This is strange, it looks like a liver,'" Ludivine Larmande told The Grand Rapids Press. "He started the second one, but stopped as soon as we saw the ear. "Something wasn't right. It was scary, and I'm glad I didn't open them."The body parts were sent from China and meant for medical research labs, but were somehow delivered to the couple's home. Officials warn that two dozen similar packages could be delivered across the United States.According to The Grand Rapid Press, two packages actually broke up, scattering the body parts. Officials said there was no threat to public health (oh really?).Check back for updates o

Thieves Return Stolen Goods From Church Robbery
2007-03-04 12:51:00
Thieves stole nearly $5,000 in sound and office equipment from the Guyandotte United Methodist Church in Huntington, West Virginia Monday night only to return the following night to break in again, but this time to return what they had taken, according the Associated Press.Apparently, the guilt of stealing from a church weighed on their conscious so heavily they felt a need to correct their criminal mischief for breaking the commandment of "Thou shalt not steal.""They taketh and the Lord giveth back," church treasurer Rocky Frazier said. "It's like there's a higher power at work."Perhaps it was simply a 'change of hear'. "It was either that, or our prayer for grace for them," Rev. Julia Bolling said.Despite the return of all of the items, less $22 dollars in cash, Huntington Police Lt. Rocky Johnson told the Associated Press the investigation remains open.Johnson noted he had never seen anything quite like this. "It's odd that they brought it back... I'm glad they did."

Anna Nicole Will Be Buried in The Bahamas
2007-02-28 01:18:00
A Florida judge has ruled that Anna Nicole Smith's body will be returned to The Bahamas for burial. The Appeals Court ruling upholds Judge Seidlin's original ruling last week that Anna Nicole's body be returned to the Bahamas for burial. The ruling supports what Anna Nicole had told many people before she died - that she wanted to be buried next to her son Daniel in the Bahamas. In other news, The National Enquirer is reporting that preliminary toxicology results show that Anna Nicole may have died from pneumonia, not drugs. She had been hospitalized in the Bahamas for pneumonia after her son Daniel's mysterious death, and people reported that Anna had a high fever the day she died. Other unconfirmed reports from a friend of Anna Nicole claim she had lupus. While the cause of death of Anna Nicole Smith is still officially under investigation, the former Playmate's body continues to decompose in a Florida morgue, but with the judge's ruling she is expected to be buried on Friday.Rel

The Untold Story: Pollution from Livestock Contribute Significantly To Global Warming
2007-02-25 02:36:00
Whether you agree that human activity on earth is polluting the atmosphere and triggering a warming of the globe, the facts are in - cattle rearing contributes more to global atmospheric, water and land pollution than automobiles. After first publishing this news last week, thousands of people have read this article on the Internet and dozens have written to me asking that I offer more evidence of the claim.I appreciate the feedback, and so I have collected some more facts about cattle pollution from a number of sources on the web.- Global meat production is projected to more than double from 229 million tons in 1999/2001 to 465 million tons in 2050, while milk output is set to climb from 580 to 1043 million tons. [source: United Nations report, Dec., 2006]- When emissions from land use (such as production of feedcrops and grazing land) and land use change are included, the livestock sector accounts for 9% of CO2 deriving from human-related activities, but produces a much larger share o

Giant Squid Caught By New Zealand Fishermen
2007-02-25 00:24:00
A giant squid was caught by fishermen in New Zealand , measuring nearly 40 feet long (about the size of a school bus), just a few feet short of a Colossal Squid. It is believed to be the first time a squid of this size has ever been captured. Here is the video from MSNBC. In September, a team of Japanese oceanographers filmed a live 42.6 foot (13 m) giant squid for the first time ever. The researchers lured the squid with a long line fitted with squid bait and dangling hooks that were designed to snag the creature when it went for the bait. The device had worked once before with the giant Architeuthisa and researchers had taken many still photographs. This is the first time the enormous squid has been filmed on video in its natural habitat. Once the squid was hooked, it took the creature more than four hours to detach itself, losing a 15-foot portion of one of its tentacle in the process. (The PETA folks are going to love that!)"It was exciting to get a live Architeuthis tentacle. It was

Why We Should Worry About Bird Flu and Be Prepared
2007-02-24 01:25:00
While the world is obsessed with Britney Spears and Anna Nicole Smith, the clock is ticking on a mutation of the avaian bird flu from human to human. The global threat that made so much news a year ago seems to have been lost completely in other news of celebrity antics, and to be fair, the Iraq war. This is all despite the fact that the bird flu is spreading. This week Russian health officials claim they had one of the worst outbreaks of bird flu in that country, with the virus nearly reaching the capital city of Moscow.Today, officials in Afghanistan and Pakistan ordered the slaughter of hundreds of birds after a number of birds were found to be infected with the deadly H5N1 virus. While a porky Al Gore jaunts around the world in his private, carbon gas polluting jet (oh yeah, he 'buys' carbon credits which make the pollution magically disappear) to give paid speeches that the world is going to end in 50 years due to global warming, a much more immediate threat quietly festers, spread

That's Right Johnny, We're Banking On Your Umbilical Cord
2007-02-17 14:52:00
When semen banks first opened in the United States during the 1980's, business was good. Many clients wanted to simply freeze their sperm for future fertilization. Many people thought it was very weird, even Orwellian. As bioscience has made extraordinary advances in the past two decades, a new set of banks are opening to store blood from newborns' umbilical cords in case of a future illness. The theory is that because umbilical cord blood is rich with viable stem cells, it may someday have significant healing properties for the intended donor, especially as more progress is made in thwarting and treating disease with the help of rich stem cells.Dr. Elizabeth Shpall of the public M.D. Anderson Cord Blood Bank said she is confident there is plenty of cord blood available for both private and public banks because the majority of cord blood from four million annual births in the U.S. is simply discarded. The following is excerpted from the Associated Press story: What's the controversy?

This story has since been confirmed after Ben & Jerry 's appeared on the Colbert Nation show on March 5, 2007 with the Americone Dream ice cream. Here is the original story with what where only rumors a month ago:According to a Colbert fan site, they got a scoop on the Ben and Jerry's carton design claiming it was leaked by a Whole Foods employee.Ben and Jerry's company spokesman Rob Michalak said: "I can neither confirm nor deny it. But I can say there's been a lot of experimentation with red, white and blue." The alleged design (shown here) cannot be confirmed. Any Photoshop pro could have put this together as a prank (and if it is a prank, great designer, huh?) because rumors have swirled on the Internet for months about a Colbert ice cream. Colbert has amassed a large fan base in the less than two years he has been on the air, and has even won a number of prestigious awards and recognitions. The Shopping Network Host Describes a Moth as a Horse
2006-12-29 02:06:00
If you have not seen this video from The Home Shopping network, you must. It is probably one of the funniest and stupidest things I've ever seen.Sadly for the guy, this idiotic video of him, seen all over the world via the Internet and television, is going to be what he'll be remembered for no matter what he does from now on out, unless he does something stupider than this, which is nearly impossible to imagine. The salesman is selling some photo equipment and he holds up a large printed colored image of what is clearly a moth.Did somebody slip some LSD in his coffee? Really though, how do you explain this? This guy should definitely start a blog to describe his whole experience, promote it, make some money and go on a safari where he can watch pink elephants chase giant ants. My goodness! Now if it were the case where the salesman for the Shopping Network accidentally identified a moth as a butterfly, we would have never heard of it. But that didn't happen, and whatever universe this

Digging The Archives: XFiles Spin-Off Writers Saw 911 Before The Rest of Us?

If Rosie O'Donnell would zip it and instead use her ill-gotten soap box to ask questions that are not based on idiotic, paranoid delusions and stupid rants about a conspiracy for everything under the sun, she might want to watch this clip, if she hasn't seen it already. This might be old news to some, but fellow bloggers have been buzzing again about this clip that is six years old. Probably like many of you, I was unaware of this particular precursor to 9/11 that appears to predict the 9-11 attacks on the World Trade Centers on Sept. 11, 2001.The Lone Gunman, a X-Files spin-off TV series, aired a pilot show on FOX on March 4, 2001. The theme of the pilot was based on a story of 747's being hijacked to be used as flying bombs to attack the World Trade Center, eerily similar to the attacks that took place six months later. This video is a clip from the pilot itself.WARNING: Anyone affected by what happened on that day may not want to watch this not because it contains inappropriate ma
