Batteries That Run Off Your Sugar
2007-04-03 00:25:00
Scientist from the United States have unveiled a new type of battery that runs off nearly any sugar source, so don’t throw out your Coca-Cola because you can put it to use, such as powering the battery! Not only does the battery run off nearly any sugar source, it also does it more efficiently than a normal battery runs off its chemicals. The scientist have shown great promise with the new “sugar battery”, a battery that runs off sugar, and that lasts three times longer than a lithium-ion battery on a single charge, the new battery might evenutally replace lithium-ion batteries. The battery is able to be used in a range of electronics, ranging from basic electronics all the way to advanced computers, and whats best is whenever you get tired of the electronics and throw them out for the dumpster, the battery is bio-degradable so it does not hurt the environment. ‘This study shows that renewable fuels can be directly employed in batteries at room temperature to lead to more ener

Xbox Elite
2007-04-03 00:04:00
Microsoft has recently released their plans to bring a new Xbox 360 model to the market. This new Xbox, previously code named Zephyr is will now be called the Xbox Elite , and will finally addresses some of the HD problems with the previous 360’s with the instillation of an HDMI port. The HDMI port unlike the Component or VGA cables will allow for true HD TV gaming with everything being digitally rendered from the start. VGA and component convert analog signals to digital, and tend to lose a bit of clarity during the transfer. Other then a new HDMI port this new Xbox also comes with a 120 gigabyte hard drive rather then the 20 gig that came with previous Xbox’s. Not wanting to leave the other Xbox 360 owners behind Microsoft will be selling the hard drive separately with a data transfer kit so that all saved games, and created account can be transferred to this new hard drive. The only problem that Microsoft has yet to prepare for is those wanting to upgrade from their current Xbox

17 year old teenager builds homemade fusion reactor
2007-04-02 23:54:00
A 17 year old teenager from Michigan, who wanted to win a science fair, decided to build a fusion reactor in his basement… talk about overkill! The project was no easy task, and required over 1000 hours for research and design (that’s over 2 months and a half of studying and planning if he spent all of his awaken time doing research for it). How did he managed to get the parts he needed for it? Well, from eBay of course! Now I don’t know what’s most surprising, the fact that it was a 17 year old that made a device that can fuse two hydrogen atoms together, or the fact that you can get the pieces for it from eBay.

Wii outsells PS3 in Japan
2007-04-12 00:46:00
The Nintendo Wii is a huge success in Japan . It’s in fact so popular that it’s outselling the PS3 two to one; 1.95 million Wii consoles compared to 0.81 million PS3s during a similar time period. But if we’re talking pure sales value, the race is quite even 47.6 billion yen in sales for Sony and 48.7 billion yen for Nintendo. Wii Outselling PS3 Over Two To One In Japan [Kotaku.com]

Paroos G100 GPS For Jogging
2007-04-12 00:46:00
Usually you see GPS devices that are suppose be used on the car, but the Paroos G-100 is in a different category, call it the GPS for runners. This uncommon unit has more than the main (GPS) feature, it can also work as a mp3 player, FM tuner, and even a thermometer. On the primary GPS features it can: keep track of the runner's positionwarning when the runner hits below a certain speednotification upon covering a set amount of distancestore up to 1,500 runs for comparison If the Paroos G-100 isn't the complete system that real runners need, I don't know what it is. The serious problem is the weight, it can't be too heave or you won't be able to run properly and comfortably, in a worst case scenario you might even feel some pain after a long period of usage.

Kronos USB Flash Drive Watch
2007-04-12 00:44:00
This idea from Kronos is so good, I wish I had thought of it first. After all, USB Flash devices are a useful necessity in today's world, and nearly every wrist has a watch. So why not combine the two?Anyway, the Kronos USB Flash Drive is apparently just a concept now, but it probably won't be long before it becomes reality. I've heard one complaint that the watch could be waterproof, but most USB devices are not. Hopefully they will work out that bug before its release.Personally, I don't really use a watch anymore since I got my cell. I'm certain some cells come with USB download capacity anyway.

Toshiba 16GB Flash Drive
2007-04-12 00:43:00
Speaking of USB Flash Drive related products, CeBIT 2007 has another cool display for a new type of Flash Drive . Toshiba presented its newest USB Flash Drive, which has a 16GB capacity.Does anyone know if this is the record? I know that the 1GB is one of the more popular models, and I've heard them go higher, but not this high. I have no idea how much this will cost, or when it will hit the market, but something tells me that it won't be cheap.By the way, Toshiba is also putting a 32GB SDHC Memory Card on display at CeBIT. Am I displaying a severe lack of tech knowledge by sounding surprised at the high memory potential of these devices? Are we already this high?

2007-04-12 00:39:00
Do you want to capture the beautiful moments of your life in Underwater. Its possible now, Verizon G'zOne introducing first under water phone. You can take pics anywhere you want.... Verizon claims that particular model has been passed the tests like, drop test, vibration, water resistance, humidity, dust resustance, solar radiation, salt fog and immersion. The phone's 2-megapixel camera, with a bright LED flash, works both underwater and on dry land. You save photos and 176-by-144, 15-second videos into the 15MB of onboard photo memory (there's also an extra 20MB for downloadable games and applications), but you cant directly download the photos your PC. Instead, you must picture-message them to your e-mail address. The camera also seemed oddly nearsighted out of the water; photos taken at a distance of 10 feet or less are sharp enough, if a little soft, and photos taken at a greater distance were genuinely blurry. One main lack is. no Bluetooth, a music player, and removable memory

Thanko MP3 Watch
2007-04-12 00:25:00
At first I wasn't excited about Thanko's new MP3 watch. When I heard that it could broadcast to your car radio via FM transmitter, I wondered if that will just create another distraction for drivers. Then again, this is an age where many drive with cell phones plugged into their ears. The watch has other cool and not so dangerously practical features such as a voice recorder and headphone output. The watch works via USB connection, which allows for 2GB of memory, which could be used for other things besides audio files.

2007-04-11 23:42:00
ForeverGeek writes about it :Japanese sure love their mechs. Heck, even I love “their” mechs, but still, I wouldn’t bring out $250000 for one. The figure is 125mm tall and weighs 1.4kg. Did I mention the price was a quarter of a million? Yeah, I think I did, and as crazy as this might sound on this particular day, I assure you that it’s true.

Sky shows off a new concept phone
2007-04-11 23:37:00
Sky have just revealed a new mobile phone ..Forevergeek writes about it :"Every now and then, cellphone companies reveals new conceptsof what they think that the future cellphones will look like. This isn’t the first time Sky shows off one of these phones, nor will it be the last. Their idea with this particular model was to make something that was thin and stylish, something that should please many businessmen when, or if, it is eventually released. I don’t particularly like the curve the phone has at the bottom, nor do I see how that can make it more practical, but the general design isn’t too far away from what we currently have with phones like LG’s chocolate phone."

This Printer is one of two ZINK-enabled devices that the company expects to make available by the end of the year.eequalsmcsquare writes about it :Last week, a number of new technologies were announced at DEMO, a conference in Palm Desert, CA, where startups are unveiled. One company, called Zink Imaging, impressed the media by offering a new way to print pictures without ink. By rethinking printing, ZINK, a spinoff of Polaroid, claims it can make ultraportable printers that can fit in a human hand or be integrated into digital cameras and cell phones. The company’s trick is to use a novel type of photo paper that changes color when heat is applied, says Steve Herchen, chief technology officer at ZINK. “It’s the first new Printing technology for digital printing that’s come along in more than a decade,” he says. Yahoo’s New Media Device
2007-04-11 23:10:00
Yahoo has just announced a cool new wifi device, called the SanDisk Sansa Connect, that comes ready to listen to Yahoo Music and it also syncs up with your Flickr account. This is much like that Apple's I pod and Microsoft's Zune The Sansa Connect is $250 and comes with 4 GB of memory and a (small) 2.2 inch screen. It requires $15 or so per month for access to a large library of songs, this may be a device for music fans. Yahoo’s music collection have a total of 1 million+ songs which if available on a portable device is going to be attractive. But as the DRM walls fall, owning songs outright will be more attractive to many users than the indefinite subscription approach.Yahoo’s Ian Rogers said :"For those of you about to complain about the $12/month to get unlimited tracks (like, um, Steve Jobs), check yourself before you riggity wreck yourself. Labels and artists get paid for every radio play and every Yahoo! Music download to the Sansa Connect, whereas we all know iPods are mo

Apple has announced that the 100 million th iPod has been sold. Love it or hate it, there is no mistaking that this is the best selling music gadget since the days of the Walkman. Like John Mayer said, and I concur, if it weren’t for the iPod, I probably wouldn’t have hardly as many albums as I have:“Without the iPod, the digital music age would have been defined by files and folders instead of songs and albums,” said John Mayer, GRAMMY Award-winning singer-songwriter and guitarist."Other interesting statistics: 4,000 iPod accessories have been created, and more than 70 percent of 2007-model US automobiles offer iPod connectivity.

An art collective called dialog05 put together a set of pieces celebrating the universal nature of the Universal Serial Bus and its impact on low-tech society. It's a pretty interesting concept, with some cool photos of the works. I think I want to add that USB tie to my collection...
