2007-04-27 13:37:00
Many fashion-conscious ladies find it hard to accessorize with the latest technological accessory. Now geek meets chic with this Pixel Watch. This watch comes with a polycarbonate strap that displays not only the time and date, but other little animations between 9 pm and 3 am. Don't ask me why those specific times, I'm just quoting what my sources tell me. You can purchase this lovely little Pixel Watch at Red5.co.uk or Ebay for a little under $90 USD.

Pillete Nearly Invisible Bluetooth Headset
2007-04-27 13:28:00
I'm not certain how to pronounce this company name, but I think the "Pillete" rhymes with "Gillette". Maybe they meant to say pill-et, because their concept product reminds me of a little pill.Yes, it is a Bluetooth Headset , one that is nearly invisible when placed in the ear. It has kind of a unique activation system, too. When you turn it into an "L" position it is on, and if it is in a pill form, off.Of course, this is still in the concept stage. However, if it gets into production, you won't know if Pillete customers are really on the phone or off their meds. Via Gearlog

World’s Fastest Ram — OCZ
2007-04-30 17:41:00
The OCZ technology group has recently released its newest set of ram the PC2-9600 DDR2 RAM that runs at 1200 MHZ with no problem! It has been claimed as the fastest ram on the market. Using two methods of cooling it is also one of the coolest (both in style and temperature) pieces of ram on the market right now, whether being passively cooled by the heat sync present on the ram, or by its optional Liquid cooling this ram is for the high performance PC’s we all want! (and still cant afford) The ram currently comes in a 2GB setup ( 2 x 1GB sticks) and runs on retail for around $250, which if you are building a nice computer this is a necessity if you expect it to be running hot!

Keyport Slide
2007-04-30 13:19:00
Keychain technology doesn't seem like anything that can be improved upon. Until we all have digital keys, the Keyport Slide is designed for that.Keyport Slide is designed to arrange your keys into an easy-to-use bunch that requires no clinking together. That means that your keys will not scratch up your other pocketed items as it did before. It will make your keys a heavier weight, probably. It may be worth it for a quick slide-out, and your key is ready to go. So far, no price or availability is ready as yet.

Finally a real mouse
2007-04-30 13:18:00
There are some mouses that have the shape of an animal, and there are others that contain a real mouse as the material - which happens to be the case with the Mouse Mouse! It can be a bit gross to use it, but with time people get used to it, or not... In case you are still wondering... yes, that is a real dead mouse that serves as the cover for a travel-size mouse, the 2 buttons and scroll wheel still work! Warning: this project involves taxidermy, dremels, and sometimes graphic pictures of dead animals. While there are no guts in this tutorial, viewer discretion is still advised. Visit Instructables for more photos and a video of the Mouse Mouse in action.

A Remote Control with Pages
2007-04-29 20:33:00
For those of us who have a TV, DVD, and stereo may discover that they possess too many remotes. A designer named Chen Hung Ming has developed a remote that is sectioned off into pages. That's right, thin pages serve as the platform for separate TV, DVD, and stereo controls. All of them have a tab so you can easily flip to it, even though the book is only three pages long. So far, this remains a concept only, and I don't even know if the little wafer-thin pages work.

iArtifact Earrings
2007-05-03 23:06:00
At first reading from my source, I simply assumed these were wireless earphones designed to look like earrings. They are not, but that is a good idea. Too bad someone isn't inventing that. It's also too bad that the lobe isn't closer to the eardrum, then such an invention might actually work.Unfortunately, they are just earrings that happen to be shaped like iPod earphones. I wouldn't be surprised if the iArtifact becomes a fashion artifact of the past.

Flat Cables
2007-05-03 23:01:00
If you want to hide your cables ‘inside’ the wall the easy way, you might want to check out these extremely thin cables from Flatwire Solutions. For 25 feet of speaker wire you have to pay $45, so the cables aint cheap - but they can easily be hidden under a couple of paint layers. HDMI / DVi cables will be available later this year. I like the idea and I prices will go down as soon as some competitor starts selling a similar product. Flatwire solutions - products

Bubble head web cameras

I’m pretty sure that these web cameras would sell really good if they ever would reach the stage of mass production. Today they only exist as images on computer screens around the world. The prototypes are made by the designer Eric Zhang and it would be nice to see them in a store sometime. They are pretty cool don’t you think? Bubble head Web Camera

Shape changing USB drives relative to data in it .
2007-05-10 17:32:00
These Concept USB drives can change their shape according to data in it .The Spongebob is a empty USB drive which will transform into ugly Blowfish when it is full of data so that you can have the idea of empty or full USB drive just by looking at the drive . Another concept USB drive is the Flashbag USB drive which has micropump in it. The size of the device changes depending on the amount of data it holds. When the device is about to blow up you will see the familiar error message on your screen: «There is not enough free space».When swithched off the flashbag remains pumped up, so you can estimate with the naked eye how much more pics, books and music albums can be transferred into it.

Machine Makes 2 Hours Sleep into 8
2007-05-10 17:21:00
On Sky News there is an article that says scientists are working on a machine that will allow us to power nap, making a two or three hour sleep have the same benefits as a full nights eight our snooze. I for one think this will just make the world more competitive, as we all work longer hours or a second job. A device worn on the head could in squeeze the benefit of eight hours’ sleep into just two or three hours. Scientists in the US used a technique called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to induce slow waves - indicative of the deepest phase of sleep and essential for learning ability and mood, in a group of sleeping volunteers. A TMS device sends harmless magnetic signals through the scalp and skull and into the brain, where it activates electrical impulses. The researchers found that positioning the TMS machine the right way triggered slow waves that travelled throughout the brain. I wouldn’t mind having more time to research, write and play some video games though. A

Electronic Cigarettes: All the Nicotine You Can Handle, None of the Cancer
2007-05-13 00:26:00
I'm no smoker because my parents raised me right, but there are millions of you out there who love your Lucky Strikes. Too bad that, you know, they cause cancer and everything. Realizing this, a Chinese company has developed "electronic" cigarettes, which fully replicate the act of smoking, complete with a physical cigarette, vapor and the satisfying, um, smoking part. Users of the eCig still get their daily dose of nicotine but without anyone of the carcinogen-containing tar and other bundles of fun. One puff and in seven to 10 seconds sweet, sweet nicotine begins its magical journey inside your body. Whoever said the Chinese don't innovate? This is clearly an invention for the Ages, especially at only around $200 per cigarette

2007-05-13 00:26:00
Paranoid types are going to have to start burning their documents if this thing catches on. Researchers in Germany have developed a software program to undo paper shredding. The project was undertaken to reassemble about 45 million shredded pages of police documents torn to some 600 million scraps 18 years ago. As Bertram Nickolay of the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology put it to Nature mag: The pieces of torn documents are scanned on both sides, and the digital images are then analysed by a cluster of 16 computers for 25 features, including colour, shape, texture, handwriting and typeface, It's only a matter of time before the IRS gets their hands on this and the whole CrunchGear house of cards comes tumbling down.

An Asian Power Suit
2007-05-13 00:23:00
Maybe it's not quite as uber-strong as the HAL-5 exoskeleton, the Tokyo University of Science's Muscle Suit is still nothing to be laughed at. Exchanging actual muscle usage for gadgetry, the powered suit lets you lift things your normally couldn't on your own, like Rush Limbaugh. The suit's not portable, though; an external compressor and air regulation system are required to activate the pneumatics. This means it'll likely find insdustrial uses, like in factories or in the garage of Lohan's coke dealer. It's not commercial yet, so no price, but we see this little sub-market blowing up in the next few years as industrialists try to come up with new ways to make their poor workers more productive. CoCo: Clip Your Way to a Thinner Nose
2007-05-13 00:20:00
Hey, big-nose. Yah, you with the beak. I noticed you in the crowd there. It wasn't your clothes or your mullet, it was your huge honkin' honker. That thing's out of control, man. You should do something about that. No, no. Don't get all weird about plastic surgery. That costs a fortune. You need a CoCo. Yah, a CoCo. It's a nose clip made to sculpt your schnoz into a respectable shape. It's high-tech, man. Look, I know it looks like a pair of bicycle brakes, but it's not. There's real science behind this, honest. You can have Cleopatra's nose. I think it's what this means, anyway. And it's only $7.50. That's one tenth of one percent of what a real nose job would cost. I'm saving you money here, pal. Now, do you want the pink or the blue? CoCo insane Korean Nose Gadget

Creepy Gasmask Showerhead
2007-05-16 19:24:00
Here’s a first: a real gasmask that was transformed into a functional showerhead. Unfortunately, you won’t see this in stores anytime soon, it was a “one-time” project. It strikes fear deep into my soul, which is what I look for in a bathroom appliance. It’s the details that make it special: the eye-holes hold your soap, and it appears to be coming out of the wall rather than being simply attached to it

Geekiest Cigar Case Ever
2007-05-16 19:24:00
When is a cigar case not just a cigar case? When it comes with pieces of circuit board glued on top. Best of all, this geeky accessory is priced at just $25. On the other hand, if you don’t like cigars think of other items you could place inside the circuitboard case, like Nintendo DS cartridges, USB memory drives, or a bunch of mini screwdrivers

The WinePod: Reducing Winemaking to a Home-Sized Science
2007-05-16 18:56:00
The number of people who brew their own beer at home as a hobby has grown over the past few years, so it's no surprise that someone would put together a gadget that would let you do the same with wine - and do it well, from all accounts. The WinePod is a gadget geek's dream when it comes to wine making: a self-contained steel unit that handles pressing, fermentation and aging, controlled by a wireless connection to software on your computer. The software, called Dashboard, organizes information about your wine and asks you questions about the fermenting brew to adjust settings to provide the exact wine you're looking for. Provina, the WinePod's maker, gives you connections to buy premium grapes, so your wine has the best possible base. What I think is really cool about this expensive ($3500 retail) gadget is the excellent balance between simplification (small and cheap enough to fit in your house, does most of the wine management for you) and experimentation (you provide the overal

Apple Being Sued Over Laptop Displays
2007-05-19 09:59:00
If there’s even a minor flaw in a product, there’s money to be made by lawyers and PC fanboys. A San Diego filing for a class-action law suit by Fred Greaves and Dave Gatley is the latest legal trouble for the Cupertino company. The lawsuit claims that Apple was marketing Macbook and Macbook Pro displays as if they were god’s gift to mankind. Claims are made that the Macbook Pro displays are too “grainy” and “sparkly” and that Apple uses dithering techniques to achieve higher color depths than actually possible. Huh? Sounds like a load of rubbish to me. I bought a Macbook a month ago and I’m absolutely in love with it. No problems, screen issues, etc. Greaves and Gatley also claim the Apple Genius Bar associates told them they were “too picky” about the quality of the display, which sounds right on the money. Want insane quality? Go drop $5,000 on a Sony BRAVIA. It’s a laptop for crying out loud.

5 Most Innovative Technologies of 2007
2007-05-19 09:51:00
There are a countless number of new inventions/gadgets being introduced each year, and we’ve hand selected five of the most innovative that our editors have come across in the first half of 2007. WL-16RIII Walkbot We have seen the future and it’s the WL-16RIII Walkbot — developed at Waseda University in Japan. Designed for the disabled, elderly, or just plain lazy, the Walkbot makes descending a flight of stairs much easier — though it doesn’t look very safe. It’s powered by a 850-Mhz Intel Pentium 3 processor and has two joysticks to control movement. [Source] Automated Dishmaker Created by MIT student Leonardo Bonanni, this incredible device “can actually replace cabinets worth of dishes by storing them as flat disks.” Video after the jump. If the Dishmaker ever becomes a reality, you will never have to worry about dishes again. You just make dishes on demand and try to put all the extra free cabinet space to good use [Source 1 - 2] Real-Life “Batman”
