Yoga anyone?
2008-10-19 11:25:00
I have contemplated on the idea of trying out yoga recently. When racticed conscientiously, I read that it really helps the mind to focus and keep a clear mind on many areas. Among others, I read that yoga helps to increase flexibility, massage all organs of the body, tones the muscles and detoxify the body. The last two reasons appealed me more than the earlier two.;pBut I wonder what is the best

Pictionary Fun ;)
2008-10-19 11:09:00
Have you tried playing pictionary with your little one? It's really fun..!!You see my little boy got his belated birthday present from his auntie yesterday and begged us to play with him. Initially we reluctantly agreed but to our delight, we actually enjoyed playing it as the game progressed. In the game play, we are supposed to sketch words on the deck of cards we have chosen. What is interestin

Saved by the Mayo..
2008-10-18 11:46:00
I had taken the liberty to colour my own hair - at home a few days ago. I could not help but feel that though the new colour is definitely evident on my head, the other thing that is obvious is the condition of my hair - It has become drier!! Buying good conditioner was out of the question as I have definitely overpsent my budget this month on festive goodies and other new items. Glad that I read

In Good Company ;)
2008-10-18 11:32:00
I had the privilege of being in the good company of relatives and friends that I have been rather out of touch with today..I feel good..It is amazing how a little chat with people that have moved you, raised you, grew up with you and those you were there when you needed someone just to listen would lift your spirits up..really. In fact, studies have shown that being in the companies of friends do

Fact from Fiction
2008-10-16 10:36:00
My 12 year old is using the net more than ever especially to do project work. In the age where finding information is as easy as typing a word and then pressing search, I have to induct and perhaps instruct her with a new literacy - that of the internet media literacy - which involves discerning the information read.I thought I start small by teaching her about reliability of sources and the impo

Sometimes Love Just Aint Enough
2008-10-15 04:05:00
I got a little nostalgic thinking of the song 'Sometimes Love Just Aint Enough by Patty Smyth'. It goes something like:I don't wanna lose you,But I don't wanna use youJust to have sombody by my side. And I don't wanna hate youI don't wanna take youBut I don't wanna be the one to cry.And I don't really matter To anyone, anymore. But like a fool I keep losing my placeAnd I keep seeing you walk through

Health and Personal Well Being
2008-10-15 01:47:00
Its the flu season again - a few people in the office have been on medical leave over the past week. I was not spared either. I staggered to work today after taking a day off ....virtually impossible to take more days off than one as work would pile up. I wonder if anyone has any health secrets that it worth for readers of this blog to take note of. I know some friends of mine who swear by the rou

2008-10-15 01:16:00
Hm..I dun know why but as I was planning for my exit here in my work place, I thought about how people have perceived me...so it brought me to this question of how I would like to be remembered. I will leading a team in my next appointment with effect from next year so I thought also that I want to be memorable..but how? I wonder also how my children would remember me...My late daddy was a discipl

Does Meditation Really Help?
2008-10-14 04:20:00
The image I have of meditation is one of sitting under the trees with your eyes closed and clearing your mind off all worry. But I read a site and realised that meditation could be as simple as resting. This site on meditation explains that at the simplest level, meditation is like resting. Meditation at this level, "is not trying to solve the problems but to relax around them, to change the attitu

'Child like' moments...
2008-10-14 03:28:00
I was at 'Toys R Us' the other day with my precious(s) and hubby. One of the rare few occasions when the kids get a chance to go to a toy store. We went in and I started signing "I dun want to grow up, I just want to be a 'ToysRUs' kids" much to the embarrassment of my 11 year old who later rolled her eyes...We are all excited looking at the new toys but some are set at ridiculously high price. I

Lesson Learnt from struggling

Of puzzles and wuzzles?!!
2008-10-12 05:02:00
I was looking for a site to entertain my children one weekend when I came across a site by a home school mom - I've always admired these moms for their tenacity in teaching their own kids and finding the resources to develop their own curriculum which best fit the little ones. I feel that given a choice, I would have wanted to be a home school mom. It has always been my ambition but now that it ma

To consume or not to consume?
2008-10-12 04:45:00
I must confess that I have taken quite a large number of Panadol in my lifetime. I'm rather anemamic and often gets fever - at times mild and at other times, rather high. On top of that, I have seevre migrane attacks and due to all these panadol is one of the must haves in my first aid box.Recently, however, I was dismayed to receive an email that states that panadol could be toxic and prologed or

Outnumbered Days of a study Mama
2008-10-12 04:28:00
In my little island state, we call mothers from other countries who come here to accompany their children to receive an education here "study mama".But I've given the name a new twist - ever since I took a week break from work to coach my little darling on her primary school leaving exams. It was like being a coach to some extent with the huk..huk..huk..what are we going to be? The best that I can

Of ethics and morality
2008-09-18 21:24:00
I read with much anger about the China baby milk scandal. My first thought is: What is it with these people? Have they no ethics that all ends to profit would justify the putting of melanin in milk powder?!!The latest is that the food scandal would affect not just milk powder but harmful substance could also be found in ice creams and other China products! That is the last straw that any foodstuff

Where has modesty gone?
2008-09-18 21:24:00
With th excitement of F1 just around the corner, I am just thinking, why glamourising the "Singtel Grid girls" has become an obsession. Besides feeling embarrassed for these girls who seemed much too naive to even be aware that they are doing themselves much disservice by flaunting their supposed assets, I lament the lack of morality that has besieged the society. With tongues wagging, most (men)

Cool Beauty tips
2008-09-13 11:43:00
My ex-student got in touch with me recently. She was one of my better students in class back some 5 years agao. She is now taking her diploma and freelancing as an agent for one of the MLMs. She and her boyfriend (also my ex student) swore by the products. I decided to arrange for a meet although I did it more to see them than to find out about the products. She looked good - but then again so did

Baking Soda
2008-09-13 11:03:00
I had a really bad case of bloatedness just the day before. It disrupted my sleep and needless to say, made me really grumphy. You see, I have always looked forward to the weekends to catch up on my sleep so when I could not sleep last night I was a little cranky. Desperate, hubby turned to technology for help. He googled "natural antacids" and found that baking soda actually could be sued to reli

Smiley Charts
2008-09-01 09:43:00
I've started my two little ones on the chart system where good behaviour is rewarded with a smiley. I read that this way, certain modification of behaviour is possible. I tried and the results so far has been pretty positive. Why I did it? It was spurred by my desire to push my daugther who is sitting for the primary school leaving exams in Oct. And the prelims results that she recently received d

How would you react?
2008-11-01 10:13:00
A friend in the office got news just less than a month ago that the tiny hard lump on her breast could be cancerous. But she took it in her stride...she was a head of the pack and she did not relegate her role as leader even after hearing the news. When it became more apparent she needed to remove the lump, she continued carrying out her work as usual still till the very day before the surgery.I c

Finding Inner Calmness
2008-11-01 09:38:00
According to NLP practitioner and experienced healer,Kathy Welter-Nichols, relinquishing control is one of the ways to find inner calm. She explained that "when you let your thoughts move freely while you are in a deeply relaxed state, you release all of the tension you feel in your body. You also release your inner struggle.Self-hypnosis helps you enter your subconscious mind when it is in a recep

What makes you happy?
2008-11-01 09:32:00
I was reading the local women magazine where an article was written on what makes a person happy. There were a few responses. One of which was a woman who marvelled at the simplicity of a child's innocence. Another described how she was happy when she looked at her pet hamsters after each day. What makes me happy? I'm not too sure but I guess it does put a smile on my face when I know I am going ho

Of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
2008-10-27 00:25:00
Watching the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe today transported me back in time…I watched the same show some more than 20 years ago..as a little girl of 13 years or so. I remembered being mesmerized by the show – it’s just so magical!! Today, the same magic brought me into the world of fantasy again as I imagined myself escaping to the world of talking lions, unicorns and wise old beavers. I

Tales of High (heels)
2008-10-26 22:43:00
I have always envied women who could endure wearing heals the whole day while at work.In fact some of my closest colleague look so good swaying gracefully in their Prada. I read somewhere that heels have the effect of making you look slimmer and creates a certain posture that is alluring...sigh..all these and I cannot last an hour even on the heels...I wonder then if has something to do with the b
