I hate viral marketing. 2007-04-09 14:58:00 I do. I've grown to really loathe viral marketing. Not familiar with viral marketing? Here's a snippet from Wikipedia's page on the subject:Viral marketing and viral advertising refer to marketing techniques that use pre-existing social networks to produce increases in brand awareness, through self-replicating viral processes, analogous to the spread of pathological and computer viruses. It can often be word-of-mouth delivered and enhanced online; it can harness the network effect of the Internet and can be very useful in reaching a large number of people rapidly. Some of the first recorded offline/online viral campaigns were developed by Tim Nolan of Spent2000.com fame circa 1996. By placing abstract pairings of catch-phrases, quotes, song lyrics and image mashups, Mr. Nolan developed a method of creating "buzz" around a URL based installation. Phrases like "This city isn't safe" placed alongside a URL created enough curiosity in people's minds to remember a URL and visit again on
Photo... WHAT? 2007-04-08 01:37:00 Wow, I was watching cnn just now and saw dubya refer to Nanci Paloci's visit to Syria as a "photo oppertunity" ..... WHAT? Really? And what the fuck has Condi' Rice done? I agree with Donald Trump when he said this...In an interview airing tonight on Fox News Channel's Hannity's America, the Donald says Condoleezza seems like a nice person, but in terms of her political role, Americans "want someone that knows how to negotiate, that knows the art of the deal."I see Condoleezza Rice - she goes on a plane, she gets off a plane, she waves, she goes there to meet some dictator. ... They talk, she leaves, she waves, the plane takes off. Nothing happens, it's a joke, nothing ever happens. I think she's a very nice woman, but I don't want a nice woman."And that's NOT a bunch of photo ops? I'm really sick of seeing Bush bitch about Nanci Paloci trying to negotiate and spread good will, perhaps he's jealous because she's better at it than him? Who knows?Personally, I think that anyon Read more:Photo
The need for Net Neutrality 2007-04-06 10:13:00 I was browsing around digg and found a story about comcast cutting off service for customers using too much bandwidth. Never mind the fact that comcast advertises "unlimited" service in some of their commercials.Supposedly the limit is around 200GB usage per month and that it's a "moving target" so they could change it at any time.. and my guess is, they do. So the 200GB number is useless.Quite a few people were blasting comcast in the quotes section. Claiming crappy service, outages, limits, etc. Not just against comcast but other ISPs. Here's one that caught my eye..Speak for yourself. Cox has limited my bit torrent speed to 1-3KB/s. And people are beginning to notice that video downloads from certain legal video sites are getting slowed down too. I'm thinking Cox doesn't like their own internet service competing with their cable service. It's for this reason (among many others) that we NEED real, enforceable Net Neutrality
. When you have so little broadband competition you see t
John Edwards: ‘We Need Net Neutrality’ 2007-04-12 16:25:00 Here's something I found on www.savetheinternet.comJohn Edwards
has joined the growing list of presidential candidates to voice their support for Net Neutrality
. “We need Net Neutrality,” Edwards told Howard University students in a recent audience Q&A.“Information vehicles like YouTube, the Internet at large, blogging, video blogging, all these things are ways for democracy to flourish. They’re ways for ordinary Americans to participate in the process,” he said.Read the rest of the article. It's good to see presidential candidates come out in favor of net neutrality. Whatever can be done to spread the word about this important issue, should be. What I'd really like to see is more republicans come out in favor of net neutrality, that would be a big help. Please visit http://www.savetheinternet.com/ for more information on making Net Neutrality the law! Al Sharpton is a douchebag 2007-04-13 18:09:00 I'm sure you've seen the coverage over the "nappy headed hos" incident. Don Imus, host of "Imus in the morning" which is a popular radio show.Yes, I know, you see the topic, I'm talking about Imus, I mentioned his show was popular, but don't get me wrong here. I'm not defending his "nappy headed hos" comment. I think it was a stupid, racist, sexist thing to say. Should he have been fired? I don't know, I kind of think that an apology was what was warranted, after that let the audience decide. If enough people stop listening to his show.. it's kaput. Now about the title of this post... I'm sure you were wondering about that.Well, I've always thought that Al Sharpton
was a good person who fought for the right things. Apparently I haven't been paying enough attention. I found this on digg earlier. It describes a lot of stuff that Al Sharpton has done himself.I never knew he was such a douchebag
. He seems to have a lot more to answer for than Don Imus did. He's nothing but a black
Bombing Iran: Not Funny 2007-04-20 20:20:00 Just got this email and really thought I should share it. Have a read.Dear MoveOn member,Have you seen the video? At a campaign stop on Wednesday, Sen. John McCain was asked what to do about Iran. His response? He sang "bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" to the tune of the Beach Boys' "Barbara Ann."Seriously.He says it was a joke, but the bottom line is that it is reckless saber-rattling against Iran at a time when tensions are high. Will you help us counter his message on TV?War with Iran would be a disaster. The best way to stop this idea in its tracks is to make sure politicians who talk loosely about war pay a political price. We've made an emergency TV ad to call out McCain on his reckless remarks. Click here to watch the ad, and then please donate $10 to get it up on the air:http://pol.moveon.org/donate/dontbombiran.html?id=10227-6850024-jitQm2&t=3If we can raise $100,000 today, we'll be able to run the ad starting next week. We want to put it on the air in early primary states like Read more:Bombing

Jack Thompson Blames Bill Gates for VT Shooting 2007-04-20 04:00:00 It seems that everyone's least favorite lawyer, Jack Thompson
is using tragedy to further his insane religious crusade against video games yet again.Last time we published a letter from Jack Thompson
, we had to clarify it wasn't joke. His messianic words and biblical quotes indeed came from the attorney and Christian conservative activist obsessed with video game violence. Once again, we need to clarify that what you are about to read is a real letter coming from Thompson.Game Almighty has received an email from Thompson that includes an open letter sent to Microsoft CEO Bill Gates
. The letter reads as follows:Click here to read his letter. If you don't know who Jack Thompson is, he's a religious nut that pretends to be a legitimate lawyer so he can take down the gaming industry using his "video games cause people to kill" garbage. I won't bother linking to his hijinks because they are MANY and I'm already half asleep. Just plug his name into google and you'll find some funny rea
