Make Or Break 2007-04-24 02:49:33 Accessories can make or break an outfit. Too many can complicate an outfit and not enough can leave you looking a little bare.
“They can completely change the look of an outfit, and women like the idea of having a wardrobe that’s versatile. For instance, a strong piece of jewelry can make a simple outfit look elegant.” - Giorgio Armani
I subscribe to the less is more theory. If you find just the right belt or necklace to complement an outfit then the hard work is already done for you. You just have to sit back and wait for the compliments to start rolling in.
One such piece which is bound to get you compliments is the Flower Cut Out Pendant by Fabienne. It is available in gold or silver and is one of my favourite pieces at the moment. Taking its inspiration from the Greek goddesses, this versatile necklace is perfect for today’s modern goddesses. Read more:Break

The Creation of Wealth 2007-04-30 15:01:46 Whether you are looking for increased wealth for your business or for your personal life, many people believe that Feng Shui holds the key. Feng Shui has been in existence for over 4000 years and focusses on making the most out of your environment in order to benefit you directly.
Attracting wealth is certainly not a new concept and with the popularity of The Secret, many people are now looking to the unseen forces to help boost their income.
The The Feng Shui Shop provides a number of ornaments which are believed to have a direct influence on the money in your pocket. The money frog, one of the most recognisable symbols from my travels in China, is available in store as well as traditional lucky coins and one of my favourites, a pair of bronze pigs. The pig, one of the 12 symbols of the Chinese zodiac, encompasses the characteristics of accumulating wealth and is generous to a fault. The good thing about the pigs is that if you find you are having trouble with your relationships, Read more:Creation

Kate Moss Fashion 2007-05-01 15:01:57 You may have seen the headlines in the Sydney Morning Herald about Kate Moss
and her newly released clothing line for the UK High Street fashion store Topshop. And you might be thinking well what does that have to do with me seeing as I live in Australia! But did you know that Topshop actually delivers to Australian addresses as well?
Yes admittedly the exchange rate does not work exactly in our favour. It does enable you to stay up with the latest trends in England even though they are a season ahead of us or behind us - depending on which way you look at it.
Due to the popularity of Topshop as an affordable but fashionable place to shop, customers were only allowed to try on eight garments from the Kate Moss range which included 50 designs. Shoppers were only allowed to purchase 5 items from the total collection and no more than one size in each design. Topshop were hoping that by doing this it would minimise the risk of the items being sold on Ebay at inflated prices. The sam Read more:Fashion

Simple Statements 2007-05-09 15:10:55 I am a big fan of red carpet events whether they are attached to the Brownlow Medal, the Logies or the Oscars. I may not watch the whole award ceremony but I love to see what people are wearing and how sometimes they just can’t help but get it wrong, despite the number of advisors they might have.
I did manage to catch the beginning of the Logies and whilst some outshone others in the fashion department (Lisa McCune), others seem to still get it very wrong (Jeanne Little).
Admittedly this year, I found my eyes drawn to those with the simpler style dresses as I find that I am often reminded of High School formals and debutante balls with the fancier frilly frocks that just don’t seem to cut it in the fashion stakes.
The black dresses seemed to outshine a lot of their coloured counterparts including those worn by Rachel Griffiths, Kate Ceberano, Livinia Nixon and Natalie Bassingthwaite (as pictured).

Shizen - Made in Australia 2007-05-08 15:01:46 Shizen is an Australia
n company who produce beauty products based on the healing benefits of powerful botanicals. Not one to use sulphates, parabens, mineral oils, propylene glycol, artificial fragrances or colours, they choose instead to promote their products with Nothing To Hide Ingredients. And they do not test any of their products on animals.
Shizen have been in operation since 2003 when the founder of the company, Simone Wyndham, released her first product. Since then the company has been featured in numerous magazines and the Shizen Lip was awarded the Best New Spa/Aromatherapy Product category, by the New Woman Beauty Awards in 2004. In 2006, Shizen were also highly commended for the Moisturising Body Cleanser and shortlisted for the Never Oily Bath Oil and Lip Tint. This is not bad for a company who has only been selling products for 4 years.
Shizen (pronounced SHHI-ZEN), just in case you were wondering, means natural in Japanese. Their products range from lip tints and

Just For Mums 2007-05-16 15:59:58 I must admit I have a passion for gorgeous lingerie and I found it very disappointing with the lack of pretty but practical bras that were available when I was pregnant.
HOTmilk have created a very feminine range to appeal to the fashion conscious mum and they really will help you feel that little bit more attractive.
Prices start from an affordable $54.95 for a bra and $24.95 for briefs and are available from Zodee .
Starring Me! 2007-05-15 15:57:42 I don’t know about you but I loved reading books which starred me!
I had a selection of personalised books which I read over and over again which featured my friends and I and they were read from cover to cover until they fell apart (and even then I continued reading them)!
One of my favourites in particular was My Special Monster Mystery and I almost believed I was the detective in the book. This of course led me down the path to read every Trixie Beldon and Nancy Drew book that was ever published - but that my friends is another story.
Of course these days the range has grown and your child can star in books alongside such popular characters as Nemo and Winnie. But for me I love the classics and I have a soft spot for Alice in Wonderland and The Vintage Rabbit.
I think I know what my daughter is getting for Christmas!
Not Just Another Bunny Rug! 2007-05-15 00:23:09 Trying to think of a gift to buy a newborn baby can be problematic. Girls can be inundated with pink clothes and mums may just get sick of looking at the colour blue!
With this gorgeous Oobi Bunny
Rug - the pink is downplayed with the contrasting chocolate stripes and you can’t help but fall in love with it.
Chocolate is a popular colour featuring on many popular children’s brands at present and this limited edition bunny rug strikes the balance between the pink and chocolate tones perfectly.
It is is available from Kids Gift List for $34.95 and is machine washable.
Boden 2007-05-14 00:28:58 Living in the UK for a number of years gave me the opportunity to stock up on some great fashions but now with the benefit of online shopping and international shipping, sometimes we can have the best of both worlds.
Boden offers international shipping at a relatively cheap rate and although again with the pounds versus dollar, it doesn’t exactly work in our favour, these are definitely clothes worth spending your money on.
If you are not familiar with Boden, they offer quality clothing for men, women and children and have been in operation since 1991.
They are well known for their hotch potch cotton tops for both women and children and offer a stunning array of quality silk dresses and skirts.
If you are looking for something stylish to help you stand out from the crowd or are looking for a gift which is just a little bit different, then you might just find something here.

A Winter Wonderland 2007-05-22 08:01:10 Winter is all well and good if you manage to avoid the coughs, sore throats and runny noses that essentially go with it. I love the smell of eucalyptus and the Badger Winter Wonder Balm from W.S. Badger Company features this scent as one of its key ingredients.
The balm is a sinus-clearing chest rub with the fragrance of eucalyptus and mint. It also includes essential oils such as tea tree and rosemary which have been used to treat upper respiratory conditions for generations.
Although it is a chest rub, the balm can also double as a soothing herbal steam inhalation. It is available from Adore Beauty and retails for $19.95. Read more:Wonderland

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea 2007-05-21 08:02:46 C.S. Lewis was quoted as saying “You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me” but I am sure he would have approved of The Cancer Council’s approach to raise money for its fight against cancer. Australia
’s Biggest Morning
Tea has been running for 13 years and this year will be no different.
The official day is Thursday 24 May and over 1,000,000 will be drinking tea and coffee in their bid to raise money for this very worthy cause.
And if you are in need of a new mug for the occasion, check out Jamie Oliver’s new range of Royal Worcester Mugs from Home Couture. Whether you are a Party Animal, a Big Spender, a Bossy Boots or a Top Dad, there is bound to be one to suit you.
The People You Meet 2007-05-20 08:01:53 While I enjoy working for myself and shopping for a living, one of the most enjoyable aspects of the job is the people I come in contact with every day.
Kylie from Aussie WAHM works hard in bringing together like minded people, working toward a common goal and learning from one another. She is very supportive and for that reason, she created Blog Whammy - a way to support and promote each other in a unique way.
Through her efforts I have been able to meet and get to know some very hard working and dedicated people who happen to be the faces behind some of my favourite online stores.
If you aren’t familiar with Rainbow Designs, Quilt Fabric Delights or Beauty Banquet then check them out. They have an array of gorgeous products and gifts to suit everyone.
Lapis Lazuli 2007-05-19 23:09:15 I was browsing the Modern Goddess and stumbled upon an article about the Lapis Lazuli. The colour of the stone is a rich and vibrant blue and interestingly enough, it was the first gemstone to be worn as jewellery.
The Lapis Lazuli was first mined over 6,000 years ago in Afghanistan and, as Nicole points out, is regarded by many as the stone of friendship and truth.
It is not a stone we see featured in many jewellery pieces but after a quick look at some of the online stores I managed to discover these little gems.

Searching internationally 2007-05-28 08:01:19 Sometimes I may read about a product which I just can’t find in Australia and I have to resort to purchasing it from abroad. As an internet shopper I do not limit myself just to stores within Australia and major international sites like Amazon sometimes can be very helpful in finding a book or a cd that I just can’t locate in Australia.
Some products you may find are unable to be sent internationally due to licensing restrictions but on the whole, the only limitations you may stumble across is the lack of money in your wallet!
Internet shopping really does make the world a smaller place and having spent many years abroad, I am content doing my shopping from Australia, England and the US/Canada as it really comes down to what is most convenient to me at the time.
Plus it also enables me to purchase a unique gift that someone may not be quite expecting.
Fabric Delights 2007-05-28 01:19:19 Are you on the lookout for some gorgeous fabrics for your quilts, children’s clothing or craftwork? Well look no further. Quilt Fabric
Delights is a one stop shop for your material needs including such gorgeous ranges from Free Spirit, Amy Butler and Roger Kaufman.
They also stock a growing range of books and patterns for you to choose from to complement their selection of fabrics.
Sarah Leak, the owner is based in South Australia, and somehow in between running her family and her business, she also manages to make gorgeous creations such as this backpack for her daughter.
I particularly love the Sakura range by Robert Kaufman which is an Asian-inspired oriental themed print which includes a mix of beautiful florals, butterflies, fans and cranes.

The New Face of Hugo Boss 2007-05-29 08:01:22 He may not have entirely won us over in Match Point where he played a liar and a cheat but to P&G owned Hugo Boss, Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyer is the new face of Hugo. Signed on late last year, as a bid to try and attract a younger demographic to the brand, P&G are aiming to up the awareness of Hugo in the States.
Celebrity branding has been used for years by manufacturers but this is the first time a celebrity has been used in the marketing for Hugo. He is certainly an interesting choice when you look at other faces which have been used to relaunch fragrances in the past.
The ad can be viewed here. What do you think? Would he inspire you to purchase it?
