That Live at the Old Blue Last TV show with Jammer performing some songs (which I talked about last year) is now online. Watch it here.To accompany the above show, I had to write some blurb and find some links, and came across the above clash from Lord of the Mic, which I haven't seen in years. I seriously need to dig out my copy of the DVD.Thanks to the wonders of YouTube (and the people who have enough time on their hands to upload all the old footage), you can now also watch the Top 30 reloads at Eskimo Dance. See part 2 here. It's pretty sad seeing how good grime raves used to be. There's a five part series about Houston rap on VBS.TV. It's really good. You should watch it. Also check this quick interview with Devin The Dude. Quite funny if you like that kind of thing.

I got the new Wiley album today. It's great. Album of the year. Full review when I get time to listen to it properly. One question, though: Why is Jookie Mundo on there? Have a look at the tracklist. You'll notice a few previously released tracks on there, but whatever. All hits.JME & Skepta played at Peaches Geldof's 18th birthday party last night. My friend was DJing so I managed to blag my way in with him. It was pretty weird. No free booze. A fiver a drink. There was a circus theme, so people had to dress up. Cameras weren't allowed inside, but JME smuggled his in and I took a few pics with it. I should have taken some random ones of Bob (who was dressed in a clown outfit) and sold them to the tabloids. Oh well. New Dizzee Rascal video.DJ Khaled ft. T.I, Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Baby & Lil Wayne - "We Takin' Over"What's up with Weezy's voice on here? What's up with Akon full stop?

I got the new Wiley double A-side single from Playtime Is Over today. It's grimey, nice and grimey. Will be interesting to see how it does commercially. Listen to "50/50" here. Lethal Bizzle live at SXSW.---The post I did on Sunday April 1st (AKA April Fools' Day AKA yesterday) was a joke. The phenomenon of telling jokes on this day is nothing new. It happens every year. Some people may have heard of these joke things. They're quite popular. Especially on April Fools' Day.

Faggatronix at 7 Year GlitchOnly got time for a quick post - have to run to the studio to finish off my mixtape. 7 Year Glitch last night was incredible. God's Gift came down to MC on my set and also brought Younger Mucky Wolfpack, who did a PA of the classic "Bow For The Wolves". It was easily the best night I've played at this year. I forgot to bring my camera but I saw loads of people taking pics, so if you've got any please email them to me. Gift is actually really friendly in person. He told me all about the Wiley incident (full report tomorrow). On my way home I broke Crazy Titch out of prison, before stumbling across the girl Mercston raped (ALLEDGEDLY), who confessed that she made it all up.---I'm playing at the Dot To Dot festival with loads of MCs in May. Should be good. I've also been booked to do a week of dates in Ayia Napa in the summer with Jammer, Tempa T and Ears. Look out for me over there. I'll be the pasty-skinned, confused-looking guy with the Homer Simpson s

Grime DVDs are the second best thing to have come out of the grime scene. I'm not sure what the first best thing is right now, though. I'll have a think and get back to you. The above video is a clip of Wiley clashing Ghetto taken from The Movement's DVD. It came out a while ago. I didn't bother to buy it because DVDs are pretty expensive and the best bits are always uploaded to the internet. Btw, how good do all the MCs come across on here? The Movement are so much better on grime, so I don't know why they are persisting with the hip hop. I'd say they are losing fans with their Dipset tribute tracks.I've been listening to Tinchy Stryder's album. It's OK. It doesn't really feel like an album, though. There's a track with GoldieLocks on there. What's with grime MCs getting mockney girl rapper-singers on their albums? Did I miss the memo? Lily Allen on Dizzee's, Kate Nash on Kano's, and now GoldieLocks ruining a perfectly good Tinchy track. What's going on? There's no poi

I did an interview with Kid Sister last month when she was in the UK. You can read it here.Lethal B is back with even more Cribs. It is, as usual, incredible. He's very keen on his bins, is the Bizzle. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that. Bins are important I guess. Everyone needs a bin. MIA & Afrikan BoyWe didn't win the gayPod battle yesterday. We got to the semi-final and lost to some French guys. We beat Radioclit & Sinden's team and everyone said they were going to win beforehand. MIA's team won. She's pretty small, she is. Tiny, in fact. I was shocked. Well, not shocked, but slightly surprised. Oh yeah, I nearly forgot, Trim showed up because he's friends with Radioclit. OMG, Afrikan Boy was there too. He did a PA at the end of "One Day I Went to Lidl". That song is like every hipster kid's favourite grime song ever. People are always talking to me about it. They love him. So weird.

Massive new Bear Man freestyle. It's big, yeah. It's big.I've been sent loads of new CDs this week. I have literally no idea what to do with them though. I decided to do a fashion shoot because I wasn't sure what else to do. The shoot has a tool theme. Each picture features some tools. That's why the theme is "tools". The picture above features Tinchy's new album. Remember Oxide & Neutrino? Those guys who kind of invented grime? That was clever of them, no? They have a new album.Wretch 32's new mixtape. I haven't listened to any of these CDs, I should point out. I like Wretch though, so we'll assume his CD is good. This is the new Dubstep Allstars mix. Lots of people who used to like drum and bass but got tired listen to this stuff. Nerds who like electronica also like this kind of thing. I might like it too. I don't know. Maybe I should give it a listen.

Some footage from the new Dizzee video shoot. So, Dizzee has gone and completely ripped off my idea, eh? It's a par.Btw, I've finally digested the new Dizzee album. It's not good. The Lily Allen track is probably one of the best tracks on there (although it rips off my idea of remaking a Bugsy Malone track - I've got one featuring Slew Dem on my mixtape). That and the one with UGK. The Shy FX track is probably the worst thing he's ever done.I'm not sure if this is adorable or annoying. CELEBRATE THAT
2007-02-20 23:15:00
I was at the Roll Deep video shoot today for their single "Celebrate That". It was being filmed at the Old Blue Last and everyone was there (except Wiley, obviously). The song is all about celebrating the fact that their album went silver, so they play a bit of pass the parcel with their silver disc in the vid. Pictured above is Brazen with said disc. I took the picture. My friend Alex Sturrock said I'm the Terry Richardson of grime. Just saying. Here is some of the video being filmed, if anyone cares...I'm not so sure about all the wickedy wickedy body popping break dancy flex movements, but hey, Roll Deep videos usually turn out OK. When I turned up everyone was upstairs in the pub smoking loads of weed and drinking cheap wine. They'd been there since 8.30 AM so everyone was kind of fucked. Breeze and Scratchy seemed coherent enough to speak, so I got them to do some stuff on camera. I spoke to Scratchy about Wiley retiring and he said he's positive Richard will be back MCing very

A sincere thanks to all four people who showed up to my night on Saturday. As these ladies perfectly demonstrate, that's more than enough people necessary to have a great time. Okay, so a few more than that showed up, but whatever. I've got a lot of international people lined up for their first UK appearance, so look out for that. This is a Russian guy walking it out. Southern hip hop is a lot bigger in the rest of Europe. Unk's got a German radio tour coming up. If I booked him for a show over here, I doubt I'd get more than a handful of people who'd want want to see him.(If you like the Russian guy's moves, you can also watch him dancing to Chingy here. The guy is INSANE - he makes Britney Spears look (almost) mentally stable.---I've heard Mr Wong is working as a bus driver in Streatham, if anyone gives a shit.

Hello. Sorry I haven't posted recently. I've been busy sorting out my club night (it's next Saturday at Scala - I'll post the flyer on Monday) and listening to the new Dizzee album. The first single is called "I Can Hear The Sirens". I was just going through some old copies of Vice and have got a few ideas for the video. They're pretty great, so I'm not sure I should share them here in case someone steals them, but I'm sure no one would do that, right? Okay, what I was thinking was the video could maybe have a fox hunting theme - like an inner city version of fox hunting. I'm picturing Dizzee dressed up as a fox, running around Bow with some country gents on horses chasing after him. Seeing those guys riding around through some tower blocks would be pretty funny, I think. Anyway, it's just a thought. The video for "Come 2 Da Roadside" by Roadside Gs has been banned from Channel U. It's a shame because it was probably the only thing worth tuning in for on that station. It went

Screen shot of Kano in Def Jam Icon.Kano is in this new Def Jam computer game (as I've mentioned about five times previoulsy for no particular reason), which is apparently kind of a big deal because he's the first guy from the UK to get into the game. I was invited along to an empty club in central London where I was supposed to ask him all about the game and stuff, but the interview only lasted six minutes before I was politely asked to leave. Me: So are you signed to Def Jam or some shit?Kano: No, it's just the game I'm associated with really. It's completely two different things: the game and the record label. With the game, they got in contact somehow and it came through to me and...Alright. Do you still see Jammer or anyone else from the old Nasty Crew days? I see Jammer not too long ago. I see him at a Vice magazine party - that Baby Cham thing. I see D Double E at a birthday party, like one of my aunts' niece's birthday party and D was there DJing and stuff. I see Ghett

Hey did anyone else hear that Wiley's retired? No one's mentioned anything about that yet have they? It's Logan I feel sorry for. That's like 25 per cent of his playlist gone. What the hell is he gonna play now? Anyway, I called up Wiley to get the worldwide exclusive, never seen before reasons why he's putting down the mic.Me: Hey Wiley, how are you?Wiley: Did I mention I've retired?I heard about that. How do Big Dada feel about it?I've got a kid - a yoot, a young'n, a little one.Erm...Did I mention I've retired? Is it true Footsie tried to rush you? Was that the final straw?I'm retiring, you know. Let the world know: Wiley has retired. Yeah... Scorcher, Wretch 32 and Logan Sama showed up on day two of Vice Kills Barcelona. I didn't really see them during the day because they arrived quite late. They were funny to hang out with though. Wretch tried to say I'd given his mixtape a bad review (which he was totally cool about) but I was sure I hadn't even reviewed it, and I checked when I got back and I was right. Hold tight me.Logan, Scorcher and Wretch got kicked out of their hotel the morning of their flight (which was at 9 PM that night) so spent most of the day sat in McDonald's with their suitcases. They then went and did a bit of shopping before we all headed to the airport. We were at the airport for ages 'cos the flight was delayed, and every time one of the MCs got lost, they'd shout "sho'" really loudly and wait for someone to reply. It worked really well - I'm gonna try it out next time I lose my parents in the supermarket. So yeah, when we got on the plane, Wretch started pretending he was really terrified of

Faction G, Jammer & MikaI'm just back from Barcelona. It went way too quickly, but it was still a good little trip. Jammer was hilarious from the second I met him at the airport. He was so excited and hyperactive - it was like he'd never been abroad before. On the plane, you would have thought he had Tourettes - he didn't stop speaking the whole way. About an hour into the journey, he started MCing and wouldn't stop. Everyone on the plane was looking round at him, like: What's up with this guy? He was sat next to Sinden listening to tunes on his laptop, and freestyled along to everything. Oh yeah, he also brought this weird marketing strategy book with him that had a cover reminiscent of a shitty Jackie Collins novel, but was all about how not to throw away your money or something like that. He only read about two pages of it on the plane, though. Faction was a lot more sensible on the plane. Mika bought some Haribo sweets at the airport, so we ate them on the way to Barcelona. Wh

Dirty Canvas Vs. 7 Year Glitch was really good on Saturday. Tempa T was the highlight - I can't believe how much energy he always has. Ruff Sqwad were good too. Tinchy was standing around for ages for the Ruff Sqwad set. I think Fuda Guy actually did a PA of one of Tinchy's songs for him. I initially thought that Tinchy was now so big headed he refused to MC for less than a few bills. But then he was on the mic later on, so all is forgiven. I've got a few pics of the night here that I took on Lektrogirl's camera. She's got some more here if anyone cares about that kind of thing. Here is a clip of Tempz's PA. He told me later that night that the rumours of Chronik being on lockdown are true. Apparently Chronik caught someone trying to burgle his house and beat him half to death, so now he's in prison. Mental image: here.

R.I.P. S.K.I.T.Z. Beatz's cat (pictured above), which died on Thursday night. S.K.I.T.Z. buried it just an hour before he came to DO IT! Me and the cat were catching joke the night before it passed away, so it's a lot for me right now. I only met it that one time, but I felt like I really got to know it - it was that kind of cat. DO IT! on Thursday was OK. Knuckles and Faith SFX and Black The Ripper and those kinda guys came down. These girls came up to me asking when Statik (who didn't show) would be playing so I told them he had been on really early and they'd missed him. I thought that was the best thing to do. That way I made it seem like it was their fault for not showing up earlier. I'm mad, me. What am I talking about? So, yeah quite a few girls showed up, which doesn't really happen at a night that regularly books grime artists. I didn't really get any good pictures, so if anyone took any please send them to me. I'm going to be doing two nights per month starting Februar

Guess what? Roll Deep have just gone and released the best grime mixtape ever made. Seriously, Rules & Regulations really is that good. We're taking pretty much flawless from start to finish. No cheese (thank God), all grime. I just got the CD on Tuesday night so give me a couple of days and I'll put up a full review. I was gonna play an hour of Aidonia tracks at DO IT! on Thursday, but now I think I'm just gonna play the whole CD from start to finish. Btw, did anyone hear The Movement on Westwood? Seriously, what the fuck were they up to that night? They sounded really shit for some reason. Maybe it was the hip hop beats or the lack of mixing, but it was embarrassing. They were amazing on Logan's show a few weeks before so I don't know what was happening.I've just come back from S.K.I.T.Z. Beatz's house. He's playing at DO IT! tomorrow (well, later on today considering it's now after midnight). He will be playing with Brazen and Tempa T (who has just been added to the lineup)

Be clear, baby.Basically, are you worried about running out of white things to compare drugs to?Jeezy: No man, I don’t think we’ll run out of anything. You don’t ever run out of being yourself. I've added some old pics taken by myself and friends to my photo blog, you may have noticed. I found them on my old computer. I've probably used most of them on here at some point in the past, but go and have a look anyway, maybe. You also may have noticed a little section in the sidebar over there entitled "Prancehall Lite". That's a new place where I will be adding links daily. These will be links to videos and mp3s and interesting stories and stuff. These links will not warrant a whole post, but will still be worth checking out, which means you get to see something that is potentially new to you, without having to read my smarmy little comments about it. If that wasn't enough excitement for one post, I've also added some randomly selected interviews to the sidebar, such as an interview I did with Skream in 2005 when he was still a kid and so was I.A quote from Skepta on the mic at FWD on Friday: "This one is ugly. Ears, Flamin and Faction G were on Logan Sama's show this Monday just gone. I really am a massive fan of Ears. Like, the number one Ears fan (NO HOMO). He definitely fell off for a bit, gave up it seemed, but it looks like he's busy again. He can sound good on any beat, which pretty much no one else can do. Some notes on the rest of Wogan's show: Love that new Scorcher. Also loving the "Way Down The Road" remix. Why the fuck doesn't Esco do more tracks? Top three in grime when he's on form. I went and did an interview with Trim the other day in the Isle of Dogs. Good vibes. He played me most of Soulfood Vol. 2, which is sounding about three and a half times better than the first mixtape, which is a good mixtape because it's Trim and I like Trim, but isn't actually as good as I first thought, but I thought very highly of it at first, which means it is still good, but not as good as Volume 2, which is really, really great. If you know what I mean. Anyway, yeah, here is a little video of Trim and friends. The little kid is Crunch, who is 15. We had to wait for him to come out of school so he could get on the freestyle vid. Trim says he's better than Tinchy was when he was young. I think he's alright - pretty hard to tell when he's going back to back with someone as good as Trim. Oh yeah, I went to Mr Wong's mum's shop in Peckham today. It's kind of a newsagent, but they also sell dodgy video players, LOADS of porn videos and DVDs, loads of really old CD singles, and
