Kayaking Town Lake….
2008-03-26 01:45:33
Nicole and have had the opportunity twice now to get out and paddle Town Lake. The launch is across the street from Stephen F. Austin High School and it’s pretty crowded, but there is tons of parking on the road. You can either go North West (aka right) or South East (aka left). Going NW [...]

My Precious…
2008-03-26 01:41:42
Wow I really am a slacker. I didn’t even post about acquiring my first fire arm: A Glock 19 (9mm) with 6 - 15 round magazines (and 2 plastic cases with 100 rounds each) Buying a gun in Texas is pretty painless for us non felons. It took about 30-45 mins from the time we walked in [...]

Bad Yankee, No Post…
2008-03-26 01:23:05
I apologize for the lack of posting lately. It seems like most of what I have been doing lately has been working and going to the shooting range. There is only so much that can be said on either of those topics. I will try to get caught up on anything I have left out. – Jeremy

Dinner on the balcony….
2008-04-01 22:37:51
Lately Nicole and I have been, when weather allows, eating on the balcony. We have a decent sized balcony, but we haven’t invested in any outdoor furniture. So we’ve been taking one of our folding tables and a couple of chairs out when we want to eat outside. Tonight it was a little cool but [...]

Wassup Home Slice…
2008-04-06 17:16:42
I am a pizza junkie and in my opinion NY pizza is the best. So when I read about Home Slice on Eryn, a co-worker’s,  blog I knew I had to check it out. Nicole and I headed down for a late lunch. The place was pretty packed but we quickly found a seat. I [...]

I am a HAM…
2008-04-06 13:57:43
I am not talking about my need to be the center of attention. In an act of uber nerdiness I spent most of my free time last week studying for the Amateur (HAM) Radio Technician License Exam. The Tech. License is a basic license with very limited privileges, but it’s a first step in to [...]

BNL: Talk to the Hand…
2008-04-08 00:33:57
The Bare Naked Ladies recorded a live album and DVD in my home state of Michigan called Talk to the Hand: Live in Michigan. When I saw it I knew I had to see it. I have been an avid BNL fan since college and if you are from Michigan you can’t help feel [...]

Walking the Figure 8…
2008-04-14 00:24:50
Nicole and I have been trying to get out and do some walking. There really isn’t a neighborhood in the traditional sense in our immediate area (read: with out driving) so we started walking around our apartment complex. It’s a fairly decent walk and we have been doing laps. The other night we decided to [...]

The Neverending Story at the Alamo…
2008-04-13 17:09:05
On Saturday Nicole and I went to the Alamo Drafthouse to see The Neverending Story. One of the coolest things about the Drafthouse is that from time to time they play older movies. Granted you can watch these classics at home on DVD, but there is something to be said for seeing them on the [...]

A better Egg in a Basket…
2008-04-13 16:23:39
If you’ve ever seen the movies V for Vendetta or Moonstruck you might be familiar with Egg in a Basket . The basic idea is a piece of bread with a hole made in the middle that you put in to a skillet with butter, then you crack an egg in the hole and cook [...]

A two income household…
2008-04-17 01:04:04
After 3 weeks of sending out resumes Nicole found a job and we are now a two income household again. After our move Nicole took some time off to get us all settled in and just take some time to relax, but we reached a point where we needed more than one income. We figured [...]

Grill = Man’s Best Friend…
2008-04-18 23:37:50
So after Nicole and I started eating out on the balcony every once and a while. We decided we should buy a grill. We aren’t allowed to have a conventional grill of course, but electric grills are allowed. I did some research and narrowed it down to a George Foreman unit that looks a bit [...]

Patio Furniture…
2008-04-20 23:52:06
We had no real place on our balcony to eat. To eat outside we would have to move our folding table and chairs out on the balcony, but to keep them clean and insect free we’d move them back in when we are done. On Saturday we went to HEB to grab what we needed for [...]

2008-04-26 23:23:18
1/2 cup Lemon Juice 1 Tablespoon Grated Ginger 2 Teaspoons Crushed Garlic 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil 1 Teaspoon Salt 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper 1/2 Teaspoon paprika This is enough for 2-4 chicken breasts. Marinade for 1-2 hours. I marinated for 2 hours and it gave the chicken a very distinct lemon flavor. This marinade met with mixed reviews. I loved it. Nicole thought [...]

Chili Oil…
2008-04-27 20:11:17
I am always trying to think of ways to liven up Brown Rice. I love the stuff, but it’s a bit bland on it’s own. I was watching a cooking show, this afternoon, where they made Chili Oil and the first thing I though of was ‘That would be great on Brown Rice”. I adjusted [...]

Once again I am a slacker blogger…
2008-05-14 01:26:35
I apologize for not posting for 10 days. I guess the blog got a little “out of sight, out of mind”. Work has been a bit crazy and life has been a bit crazy. I promise I will post something of substance in the next day or two. – Jeremy

The Mile High City and the Whirlwind Tour…
2008-05-18 21:21:52
Tomorrow morning (Honestly it’s so early I hesitate to call it tomorrow) I am boarding a plane bound for Denver. I will be meeting up with one of Jaduka’s Business Development (fancy way of saying Sales) guys. We have a meeting in Denver and in the early afternoon we will be flying to Minneapolis where [...]

Home again…
2008-05-21 01:10:59
After a few delays… I am home again. I got home about 45 mins ago. I am not feeling very good so I am finding it difficult to even consider going to bed. I will post more about the trip tomorrow when I am, hopefully, coherent. – Jeremy

Hot, Hot, Hot…
2008-05-24 01:25:20
I think there is no doubt that summer has arrived in Austin… the forecast for the next 10 days has temperature over 90 degrees every day. When I was in Minneapolis on Tuesday I was reminded that it’s not warm every where. The people we had our meeting with were talking about how warm it [...]

HD TV first impressions…

When I got home from work I hooked up the HD Cable Box and all I can say is… WOW! It’s a little overwhelming the detail is so amazing. – Jeremy

21st Century Technicolor…
2008-05-27 19:48:35
I happens in every marriage; sooner or later you end up buying your first TV as a couple. Nicole and I made it through 7 years of dating and 4 years of marriage with out ever purchasing a TV. We were given one TV for Christmas by her parents a 4-5 years ago and since [...]

100,000 miles!!!!
2008-06-04 16:54:10
On the way to work this morning my Hyundai Elantra reached a milestone in it’s life: 100,000 miles… It took a little over 7 years… and about 4,000 gallons of gasoline. – Jeremy

A good day…
2008-06-09 21:13:23
Normally Mondays aren’t the highlight of my week, but today was a good day. Of course maybe it’s because Friday was such a not good day… I am not sure if I was on the verge of being sick or what, but I was just off my game. I confused the times of my dentist appointment, [...]

What are you dreams?
2008-06-11 00:46:49
If someone told you tomorrow you can do whatever you want forever no worries or limitations what would you do? Is your answer what you are currently doing? If not are you working towards those dreams? If not why? Just wondering…. – Jeremy

Holy Helvetica…
2008-06-12 00:35:13
Tonight I watched the documentary Helvetica. Yes there is a feature length documentary on the Helvetica type face. The documentary centers around Helvetica, but is also a glimpse in to the world of typography. The use of Helvetica, apparently,  popular with the rise of Modernism in the 50’s and 60’s. Apparently there was a revolt, of [...]

Hey Pelosi, wake up!
2008-06-12 12:59:36
I rarely talk about politics on this blog because it’s messy business. Along the lines of discussing religion, but this whole “impeachment is off the table” deal House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has going really chaps my ass. All the polls I have seen show that the majority of Americans are in favor of impeachment of [...]

The Tamale Incident…
2008-06-15 00:58:53
Well I made Tamales today. I was hoping to be able to report how great they turned out and share my recipe. Unfortunately they turned out so-so . However I can say I learned a bit about tamale making and I vow to try again in the future. The main thing I learned is that you [...]
