Adsense Isn’t Enough To Make Money Online 2007-08-26 04:51:22 When I first started my blog, I envisioned using Google Adsense
, and only that, to make a very decent profit. But early on I learned that Adsense isn’t enough to make money online - in fact, it will probably be one of your lowest earners.
Adsense was big in its day, but now it is slowly fading out of the picture as paid reviews and selling banners and text links come in and take its place. The majority of people avoid ads like the flu and don’t want anything to do with them, and most Adsense blocks stand out like a sore thumb. Only the very famous bloggers made a good income with Adsense, and even then, it’s not as much as you might hope for.
With Adsense, you don’t earn that much per click and the ad block is taking up a huge amount of valuable space that you could be using for something else and making more money with. For example, if you have an Adsense banner in your sidebar, you could remove it and replace it with text link sales, which will benefit others Read more:Enough

Share Your Blogging Tips and Get a Free Link 2007-08-25 05:16:48 It’s a Saturday, and I’ve recently decided to make Saturdays days in which I can experiment, ask or provide open knowledge, and give back to readers. Today I have sort of combined all three. I am going to ask you to share one of your favorite blogging tips. It can be one of your own tips, or one you learned somewhere else and highly believe in. Before you comment and leave your one tip, I highly suggest you read all the tips others have left. This way you can learn plenty of new knowledge and also make sure you’re not posting a tip someone else has already mentioned.
So what do you get back?
First off, you’re teaching and helping others with what you know. Second, you automatically get a link to your own site attached to your name in your comment because this blog is DoFollow. THIRD, I will select some of my favorite tips from the bunch and collect them all together in a new post, and I will link once more to the people who submitted those tips.
So what are you Read more:Blogging

3 Blogging Tips Written By YOU! 2007-08-31 01:34:51 Recently I did a post asking you to share your blogging tips. I decided that I would link to some of my favorites in a new post, and this is that post. Please do keep reading so you can gain mounds of knowledge! And after you’re finished with this post, I suggest to go back to the original one and read all the comments, including the ones that were still great but didn’t get added to this post.
1. Steven Snell’s tip is to focus on making your blog more valuable for your readers, instead of focusing on how much money they will make you. Put the readers first, and in turn they will be loyal and give back to you. I highly suggest reading Steven’s awesome post about putting your readers before yourself.
2. Link to other good articles in your niche. When you do speedlink posts or round-ups once a week and link out to fellow bloggers, it helps you and those you link to! The site Gather Little By Little shared this advice. It’s a Christian personal finance blog, Read more:Blogging
5 Reasons Why You Should Use Google Reader 2007-08-30 04:56:12 I’m stupid. Very stupid. Do you know that I’ve never used a feed reader until a few days ago? It’s not that I didn’t know how to use one or didn’t even know what they were - I do. It’s just because I didn’t think it would be that helpful to me. I liked visiting sites, one by one, and checking out if they’ve got content for the day. Like I said, I’m stupid. But not anymore, because now I use GoogleReader
. And here’s why you should too:
It’s organized. Google Reader is fantastic when it comes to organization. It’s simple, not flashy. All the blogs you’re subscribed to are in alphabetical order, of course. Basically, it’s just plain old organized. It’s anyone’s dream.
You can “star” items. If you come across a post in your reader that you really like, you can click a little star beside the post. All posts that you star are saved in a section called ’starred posts’. Thi Read more:Reasons
Best of the Blogosphere Round-up #3 2007-08-29 05:48:28 I haven’t done one of these link posts in a while and lately I’ve been seeing a lot of great posts in my feed subscriptions. All these posts are pretty awesome, so check ‘em out!
The Google Sandbox - Over at BloggingTips.com, Kelby Carr discusses the Google Sandbox. It’s something that has quite a few bloggers worried but it’s actually not that bad. If you haven’t heard of it or aren’t sure what it is, and especially if you’re a new blogger, this post is extremely helpful.
WP Plugins you don’t want to miss - I always love posts that list Wordpress plugins because I usually find a new one that’ll help me out with my blog. All these plugins that Sandra listed are great ones, so I’d recommend you give this a look.
How To Find Hidden Links In Your site - Court always has some new knowledge to share, and this post was a huge help, not only to me but many others as well. If you’re using a theme someone else has ma Read more:Blogosphere
Miscellaneous Happenings for September 22, 2007 2007-09-22 01:31:18 Happy Saturday; I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! First I would like to say that I’m sorry there isn’t a lot of new content lately and that when there is, it isn’t the best quality. My computer is still in the shop and the guy hasn’t even began to fix it yet, so I’m holding out and doing my best here with just a few minutes a day, if even. Now would be the perfect time for some guest writers to step in! You get free exposure and backlinks with your content published on another site, so you can reach new potential readers. Why not write for this blog? It’s a win-win situation!
Next I’d like to speak about the month of free advertising contest. Today is supposed to be the deadline for that, but apparently I’m in no position to sit for hours and count up credits, trackbacks, and come up with a winner. So for now, you’re still allowed to enter (even for perhaps another week or longer, depending). I’m sorry if this Read more:Happenings

A Huge Thank You to My Sponsors! 2007-09-21 10:19:26 Exactly a month ago, August 21, I ran my first batch of link sales where each link cost $5. The low price was for multiple reasons - it was the first time I’d ever sold text link ads, I wanted to help some other deserving bloggers out there without requiring them to spend a fortune, and besides all of that this blog still doesn’t have PageRank thanks to our domain switch and the very belated update. But now the month has ended and it’s time for me to give a HUGE thank to you and a permanent link to my sponsors, who were the first advertisers here on Super Blogging. Drumroll please…

Don’t Be Your Own Worst Blogging Critic 2007-09-20 00:17:39 I think it’s important to recognize your blogging mistakes and not be too slack with yourself. If you mess up you should try to correct your wrongs or at least realize what you did. I know that you should set goals for yourself and follow through with them. I know you shouldn’t be too lenient, but what about being too tough? Is it possible to be your own worst blogging critic?
Don’t Beat Yourself Up Over Blogging
Let’s face it. All of us have the good days, and all of us have the bad days. But it’s the bad days most of us are more concerned with. What exactly could a bad day entail? It might involve writer’s block, making a lot of mistakes, or not producing as good quality of posts. It could even be a decent decrease in traffic or RSS readership. You might think it’s just you, but don’t worry, all bloggers go through it.
There are times when I’m having one of those bad days, and I feel like everything is all my fault. Instantly I ju Read more:Critic
The More You Write, the Better Your Writing Gets 2007-09-17 03:03:12 This one should be obvious, but I’m not letting it go without discussing it.
When I first started blogging, I would go back on my posts and find dozens of mistakes. Spelling and grammatical errors, all sorts of things. And apart from that, my writing wasn’t organized and put together very well. Sometimes I would word sentences in ways that they wouldn’t make sense, and I couldn’t get out what I wanted to say clearly enough. In my early times of blogging, it was easy to be ashamed of some of my posts.
But now, I notice that my writing is a lot better than it was an approximate six months ago. When I reread my posts to double check for typos and mistakes, I don’t find nearly as many things as I used to. Now, instead of dozens of errors, there are just a couple, if even that. Besides from not making so many typos, my sentences and writing in general are much stronger than before.
The more you write, the better your writing gets.

Troubles (Please Bear with Me)! 2007-09-16 02:18:08 Well, it’s been a busy few days (longer than that, to be honest). Over a week ago Firefox deleted all of my bookmarks, which contained a lot of important saved information, sites, tools, articles, and more. I discovered that not soon enough, and it was too late to recover all of my bookmarks. Firefox does five backups a day, and they’re quickly replaced by new backups. I didn’t realize soon enough to recover one of the five, so I lost it all. That was the first downfall.
The following day, my laptop broke. Again. There’s something wrong with it, and I can assure you it’s not my fault. Heh. When it’s plugged in the light is supposed to come on, the screen is supposed to be brighter, and it’s supposed to charge. Most of you should know how a laptop is supposed to act when it’s plugged into an outlet. Anyway, it acts like it’s NOT plugged in. It won’t charge and lives off its battery life. And since it won’t charge, when it Read more:Troubles

A Step By Step Tutorial to Email Marketing 2007-09-13 17:09:40 Have you ever wondered about or been interested in email marketing? Did you know you can read the easy step-by-step system of EmailMarketing
Authority.com to get started, and then sign up for a free 30 day trial of their email marketing program, ViperMailer?
EmailMarketingAuthority walks you through email address collecting, coming up with the email subject line, how often to send an email offer, how to greet your email recipients, knowing what is a successful offering or newsletter, and tracking potential clients.
If any of that sounds interesting to you or you would like to learn more, visit their website. My thoughts are:
Their site layout is decent, the color scheme is nice, and it’s easy to find what you’re looking for. The fact that a free 30 day trial is offered is great too - without a trial, I probably wouldn’t invest my money into something I’d just happened upon.
However, email marketing isn’t for everyone. Most think of it as just another word f Read more:Tutorial

4 Posts I Wrote in the Past That I’d Never Write Today 2007-09-11 03:13:11 When I first started blogging, I didn’t know very much. Not very much at all. And to this day, there’s still a lot I don’t know and yes, I will openly admit that. But months ago, when this blog was new and still on Blogspot, I wrote some things that I completely disagree with in today’s time. Opinions change. Here are some of those posts I wrote in the past that I’d never write again today if I could:
Earn Money using SlashMySeach - I’d never write this again because SlashMySearch is just such a horrid waste of time. It’s time NOT well spent. You could earn more cash doing other things, and their search engine sucks anyway. Go Google!
Feed my Feed - A link train. Yuck. Fake, unreal, cheating links. If you participate in things like this too often, Google will notice, and WILL penalize you. Besides, why mess around with the system? It’s not worth it.

Win Free Advertising: Updated! 2007-09-11 00:43:01 Hi to everyone,
For some reason I’ve been having absolutely zero success with my contest, where you can win a free month of advertising on this blog. In the past, the only way you could enter the contest was by writing a post linking to this blog with our anchor text. I suppose most people didn’t want to do that, so I’ve updated the contest and it made it easier on all of you!
There are now five separate ways you can enter to win a month of free advertising, and each one is assigned a certain credit amount. Commenting gives you one credit. Subscribing gets you five. Writing a post linking to us with our anchor text gets you TEN! The more things you do, the more credits you earn. And the more credits you have, the more likely you are to win that free month of advertising in the top of the sidebar!
So now there are five easy ways to win, so I’d recommended you give the contest a look. After all, this blog has almost broken the Alexa 100k, is under the Technorati 1 Read more:Advertising
Write for the Beginners in Your Niche 2007-09-26 03:43:56 When I was new at this whole blogging thing, I didn’t know very much. Actually, I didn’t know ANYTHING. I actually thought that Feedburner was something bad, and that it could cause damage to your blog’s feed, whatever that was (please don’t laugh at me TOO much). But blogging is a learning process and I’m continuously discovering new things. Often I forget there are people back at the start of the blogging road, wondering which directions to take and how to go about it.
Remember The Newbies
As a blogger, you’re most likely an expert or at least decently good at what you’re doing or talking about. But you need to remember not to get carried away. There are some people probably reading your blog that are at square one and don’t even have a clue what’s going on. This is what I forget a lot of the time.
When I first began blogging, I was in search of all kinds of information that would help me just to learn the basics. But instead of Read more:Write

Do You Think PageRank Could Be Kaput? 2007-09-25 02:07:52 It’s now become widespead speculation of many bloggers that PageRank
is no more. Other bloggers think that Google could possibly be just updating their algorithm and that is why this update is so belated. Who knows? But now that PageRank is five months overdue, the longest period inbetween updates ever, people are getting worried. CashQuests has a great post titled Google Abandons PageRank that you should check out. Some valid points the author makes includes:
It has almost been five months since the last update, and usually PageRank updates come every two to three months.
Updates on the internet usually get faster with time, not slower, especially from big companies like Google.
Google is completely against paid links and getting rid of PageRank would help to stop the problem, since one of the biggest factors in determining link pricing is PageRank.
These are only some of the great points that CashQuests makes. So considering that Google did do out with PageRank… What
Progress Report From a New Blogger 2007-09-24 03:18:44 As I approach the two month anniversary of my blog, The Junk Drawer, I thought I’d take stock and do a self-assessment. With any new venture, it’s worth taking a step back to review what’s working and what’s not, make corrections and produce a better product.
What I do right:
1. I write for the thrill of it. Writing has always been a passion for me, but because I’m not confident enough to try writing for a living, I decided to write for a blog. It offers me a much-needed creative outlet and gives me a venue to build confidence and see whether my dream of being a full-time writer has any legs.
2. I make connections with other bloggers. It seems to me the best way to build a readership is to read other blogs that interest me and communicate with their authors. Whether it’s through email or comments I leave, I make connections with those I can learn the most from. My blog gains new visitors as a result, and I benefit from the expertise of seasoned blogg Read more:Blogger

Start Making More Money and Sell Your Own Ads 2007-10-15 03:21:17 No matter how popular your site is (or isn’t), you can always make money online with it. If you get less than 50 unique visitors a day or more than 500, there is always going to be someone out there who is willing to promote their product or site on your blog. As long as you price your advertising fairly for what you’re offering, you can make money with your blog.
First, create an advertising page. At the top of the page tell what your site is about and the kind of people it attracts in a paragraph or less. After that, display all of your important stats such as your PageRank, Alexa and Technorati rankings, RSS subscriber count, and the amount of traffic you get on a monthly basis.
Then you’re just going to list what advertising you’re offering to future potential sponsors. My recommendations are selling text link ads, 125×125 banner ads, a prime position 480×60 banner ad on your front page, ads in your feed (as long as you update daily and have a de Read more:Start

Do You Love Your Blog? 2007-10-14 03:59:06
If your answer is no, then maybe you shouldn’t even be blogging at all.
There’s one statement I can tell you right now that is one hundred percent true. Your blog won’t be successful and reach its full potential if you are missing one key factor - passion. So ask yourself right now, Do I love my blog? Is it usually pretty easy for you to come up with post ideas on a regular basis? Do you love tweaking your design and theme and getting that perfect look? Are you excited whenever a more popular blog links to you, or you get noticed by the social media websites? If one or more of those answers are no, you might not love your blog like you should.
Ask yourself another question: Why am I blogging? For most people, it’s solely the money. However, if there is no passion behind your blog then you’ll never earn any decent money anyway. Many people find blogging to be a very enjoyable and rewarding hobby (or even for some, a full time job), but if you don’t t

10 Great Bloggers Tell What Mistakes They Made As Beginners 2007-10-12 04:24:51 I’ve recently contacted ten great bloggers through email and asked them about the biggest mistakes they made with their blogs as beginners and for any advice they had to offer. By reading this article and viewing the results of the survey, you will a) learn a lot more about your favorite bloggers, b) discover mistakes to avoid in your own blogging journey, c) find tons of great advice, and more. There’s one fact that’s 100% true no matter how you look at it: everyone makes mistakes. But a big part of mistakes is to take them and transform them into a lesson learned.
Now let’s take a look at what our ten pros have to say…
Cash Quests from CashQuests.com says:
“The biggest mistake that I made was starting on Blogger - I’m sure you agree. The only other mistake that I made was not having a tight focus on the type of content that I would write from the beginning. A New Look: Pop Blue Tweaked 2007-10-11 05:15:12 That’s right, Super Blogging has a new look (in case you didn’t notice)! For hours today I’ve been trying different free themes and tweaking them, so if you’ve been seeing things moving around over here you’re not going crazy. The theme I settled with on this blog is called Pop Blue and it’s a free one that anyone can use. I edited some of the coding to suit this blog and my own interests, however. I also made the sidebar bigger to optimize it for advertising, but more on that later.
I’ve never been too good with all the technical stuff or coding. I probably could be, but I’ve never tried. All I’ve ever known is easy HTML and CSS, and seeing so much coding in so many files just intimidates me. I decided, however, that if I was going to be a decent blogger I needed to stop using plain old free themes and start adding some of my own customization. It was slow going but I’m proud to say I understand a lot more about the coding o
Phenomenal Tips on Making a Great Post Title 2007-10-10 03:11:04 Previously I published the article 10 Tips to Writing a Successful Blog Post. Tip number one was to come up with an eye-catching title. Today we’re going to go into detail on how to do just that. When you’re done reading this article, your posts will never be ignored again because of a bland headline.
First we’re going to state the obvious. Tell me, would you be more inclined to read a post with a title that is easy to read, enthusiastic, and contains numbers, or one that is dull and doesn’t use an exciting vocabulary? Which title do you think is most appealing: “10 Foolproof Ways to Gain More Readers” or “How to Get More People to Visit Your Site”? The first one, of course! A title should excite the reader and pull them in, making them want to read every single word you have to say.
A good title should be the appropriate length, not too long but not too short either. Around four to ten words is decent; the title of this article contains Read more:Great

Take A Break And Unite For A Good Cause 2007-10-08 22:09:34 I haven’t done any of these meme type things in such a long time, and usually I wouldn’t. A lot of the time they’re just more creative ways to get backlinks and such, which I disagree with. But I was just tagged by Steven over at Vandelay Website Design, and this meme is actually a good one for a great cause, so I’m taking part.
The Internet Marketers of New York will be holding a charity event, sponsored by Best of the Web, to raise awareness and money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on October 15. The party will have food, drinks, prizes, the ability to socialize with other people interested in the cause, and more. All that is required is a small $40 donation. For more details, see the bottom of this post.
Not everyone lives close enough to New York to make it to this event (myself included), and not everyone would be able to go anyway. But if you still want to help out with the cause you can donate online if possible.
