I’m Back From Vacation
2007-06-19 16:33:38
Yup, I’m back from vacation! I left on the 13th and I just got back today, the 19th. I’m sorry I didn’t put up a notice that I was going to be gone. I really meant to but things got busy and I didn’t have the time. Luckily, thanks to Wordpress timestamp, I had a post for everyday I was gone except for yesterday. Now I’ve just got to work on updating all outdated things, responding to comments and emails, etc. So if you’ve asked me a question or requested something from me - please be patient, I am working on it! Something very exciting I noticed while I was gone: My Technorati rank is about 20,000! This is a huge shock to me, and now I’m aiming to get under 5,000. How exciting. Thanks to everyone who has linked to me so far! Anyway, the vacation was very fun. I sang karaoke with my friend in front of over 100 people, and I’m the worst singer in the world (and so is she) - are we stupid or what? But it was one of the coolest things I

I love PayPerPost!
2007-06-23 06:04:06
I’ve been waiting to sign up for PayPerPost and be able to jump on money-making opportunities for a long time now, and just a few days ago my blog finally turned three months old, which is the PayPerPost requirement age. So today I logged onto my email and saw that my blog was accepted into the marketplace, and I’m so happy! I love PayPerPost. There are so many opportunities and chances to earn money on PayPerPost, and this may easily become one of my biggest money earners. I’m even getting paid to write THIS! But this post is not only sponsored, it’s very very true. I’m extremely happy to be a part of PayPerPost now. Why? Like I said, there are literally dozens of sponsored post opportunities out there to suit everyone. And with all these opportunities, that means a great chance to make some more money! If you’re not a member of PayPerPost yet and your blog is 90+ days old and suits their requirements, you should definitely sign up or else you&rsquo

Did I Mention Super Blogging is 3 Months Old?
2007-06-22 23:29:43
Get a spot in my blogroll! Read on… You heard right, Super Blogging is three months old! Our birthday was June 16. I’ve been through a lot of ups and downs, but thankfully I’m still here, and I’m here to stay. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ve done my total best over these three months. I’ve been lazy a lot of the time. I should have been writing more content, commenting other blogs, working on SEO more, etc.  These next three months I will strive to do so much better! I’m very happy that this blog is three months old now, because that opens up a lot more money-making opportunities for me and makes Super Blogging look a lot more serious. It only goes up from here! I’d like to thank everyone who has helped me since the first day this blog began. There are too many names to list, but you all know who you are. And since Super Blogging is now three months old (oh, what a milestone!), I’m doing a special little offer. Nothing b

Have Your Own Domain From the Start
2007-06-22 06:02:51
The biggest mistake I’ve made so far is when I first started blogging. I didn’t plan ahead or do a lot of research, I just expected to learn everything I needed to know on the way. So I went to Blogger and made my own free blog there. My URL was www.super-blogging.blogspot.com. But then just very recently, I realized that having a free domain was a bad thing. I also realized how much I hated Blogger. So that was when I made up my mind, that I would need my own domain and host, and I would be using Wordpress. If I had done that from the start, things would have been so much easier!  If you’re going to start blogging and you’re serious about it, and you plan to blog for longer than a couple of weeks, then DO invest in your own domain and host! In the long run it won’t cost much at all, and then what you earn through your blog will probably pay for your domain and hosting costs. If you start out with a free host like Blogger, it’ll be a huge pain

10 Wordpress Plugins You Can’t Miss Out On
2007-06-17 06:35:56
I’m so happy I switched to Wordpress , and I love all the plugins that are offered. Because my domain with Wordpress is still new, I’m installing new plugins and tweaking things all the time. The 10 plugins I am about to introduce to you are ones I use and love - and ones I know other bloggers use and love! Not all of these are installed on my blog, but some here you might be very interested in. NoWWW - I have this installed on my blog and I found out about it on CourtneyTuttle.Com. This makes it so your URL never has the WWW included, and even if people type in WWW, they are redirected. This is so Google doesn’t double index your site and its pages; and have both the WWW and the non-WWW version. I really recommend this one! Adsense - Another plugin currently installed on this blog. This is not one of those fancy Adsense plugins, this one is very simple. Whenever you want to place an Adsense ad in a post, all you do is click the Adsense button on the Write Post

How to Get Ranked Highly for Your Keywords
2007-06-16 08:06:32
All bloggers want their blog to be ranked with some great keywords on the first page of Google search. If you don’t want this and don’t have an extremely good reason, I don’t feel bad when I say that you’re crazy. If you ARE that insane blogger and don’t care about your search rankings at all (which bring you a lot more visitors, thus, more money), then you should check out some fun addictive games instead. But if you are curious about what is the best way to get ranked highly for your keywords, then you’re at the right place. So how do you get on the first page of results for ‘make money online’? There are a lot of different factors that make up your ranking. Some people think it’s keyword density. While keyword density can be helpful to your search engine positions, it’s nothing to obsess over and a lot of the time makes no difference. If you’re stuffing your posts with keywords then your readers will realize it,

5 Ways to Keep Your Readers Coming Back for More
2007-06-15 07:04:50
Every blogger strives to have readers that think, “This blog is fantastic! I need to add it to my blogroll so I can come back everyday and encourage my visitors to do the same.” I have quite a few blogs that I am loyal to and I have to go visit each day. I’ve spent some time thinking about this and have composed FIVE REASONS why I go back to their blogs for more, so you can take this list and use it to better your own blog. 1. Offer something UNIQUE. All of the blogs I read daily have a unique feel to them! There are millions of blogs out there and you’ve got to make yours stand apart. You need to offer something different that no one else does. I think Kumiko has a very unique blog, to name an example. Not only has she branded her blog to her name but she’s also made it known as the “blog that is pink”. Other bloggers hold weekly or monthly events that set them apart. I’m still working on perfecting this one. 2. Post new content DA

If You Want to Blog You Should Know…
2007-06-14 06:55:31
That it’s not a get rich quick scheme. 99% of bloggers don’t ever get what I would call ‘rich’ by blogging! Some exceptions might be John Chow, Darren Rowse, Shoemoney (Jeremy Schoemaker), and Steve Pavlina. If your ONLY reason for starting a blog is to earn some money, you’d better rethink your plans or hope for some serious luck to be on your side. That it’s not just all fun and games. Blogging is actually quite a bit more work than beginning bloggers realize! When I first started, I didn’t even understand all the work that blogging entails. You constantly have to work on writing great content, keeping up relationships with other bloggers and meeting NEW bloggers, trying to get your links and traffic to increase, tweaking your layout and design, and so much more. If you don’t have time to devote or patience for this, then blogging might not be for you. That you need to pick a topic you enjoy. If you don’t choose the right

Use Blog Carnivals to get Maximum Exposure and Linkage
2007-06-13 08:12:59
What is a blog carnival? That’s a great question, for many people don’t know the answer! To tell you the truth, I’ve known about blog carnivals for a couple of months, but I didn’t fully understand them until just a few days ago. I definitely don’t consider myself an expert in this field, but blogging is a learning process, and I intend to do a lot of learning and helping others learn too. Anyway, to answer the question, a blog carnival is not an actual carnival with lions, elephants, acrobats, and clowns. It is actually a type of blogging event. Blog carnivals are published on a regular basis, and a lot of the time each edition is hosted on a different blog (but not always). The publishings can be weekly, monthly, the first Saturday each month, or just anytime the creator wants to. Why should I enter a blog carnival? When you submit one of your posts/articles to a carnival, it will most likely be featured in the carnival’s next edition. This w

Think Before You Publish
2007-06-28 10:51:59
First and foremost, get a free spot in my blogroll by commenting on THIS POST *click* I just came across an article on Shankar Ganesh’s tech blog. It lists 11 things to do before you hit the publish button. That post really set me to thinking, because sometimes I’ll just write up a post, edit the timestamp, and then publish it to be posted up on the blog later. I don’t usually give a second thought (when I really should give a third, fourth, or fifth!) But after reading Shankar’s article, I’ve realized that not doing certain things before I publish can fatally cost me. And if you’re making the same mistakes as I am, it will cost you too! For example, sometimes I don’t even read over my post a second time, and I don’t exactly spell check as I should. If a post is full of grammatical and spelling errors, or is just awkward and doesn’t make sense, it’s a big loss. Even if the idea of the post is genius, it will suffer if it&r

Using MyBlogLog Effectively
2007-06-27 05:16:01
I’ve always known that MyBlogLog is a good way to draw attention to your blog and bring in new traffic, but I never realized it was this good! I used to just visit other blogs who had the ‘recent visitors’ MBL widget and hoped someone was interested in my icon (which used to be, mind you, a face) and clicked on it. Well, now I know how to use MBL properly, and you should too! First of all, if you want to be noticed on people’s blogs under the ‘recent readers’ widget, you’ve got to make your icon stand out! So many people use a picture of their face or even someone else’s face. But no matter how pretty the face is, it’s not going to draw as many eyes as a bright avatar that just pops out at you. My avatar is brightly colored with polka dots! And I’ve noticed other effective icons that are just brightly colored and say the name of the blog on them. Whatever you do, make it stand out more than the others and it’ll be cl

Get Traffic and Make Money Using Squidoo
2007-06-25 06:13:49
While some of you may already be in on Squidoo and using it to your advantage, I didn’t pay any attention at all to Squidoo until just a few days ago, when I read this post. I thought Squidoo was just another dumb website that would be absolutely useless to me, so I ignored it completely. Another mistake! I wish I’d gotten in on Squidoo a while back, but at least I’m signed up now. Using Squidoo, you can drive some real traffic to your site. Squidoo lets you create a page on their site, which they call a lens. Your page can be on practically any topic you want it to be. But you can not only get traffic for your blog by making a lens on Squidoo, you can earn some money! And you can even set your minimum payout to just one dollar, so it’s not hard at all. On Squidoo I’ve already created five lenses, including Dozens of Great Quotes and All About Blog Carnivals. Lenses are easy to create and arrange. There are great modules you can add to your lens, inclu

Feed Reader Amounts Dropping
2007-07-01 14:27:51
I know the amounts of readers in a feed is supposed to fluctuate, sometimes more than normal. But is it supposed to… constantly decrease? On June 27 I had 50 readers of the Super Blogging feed. The next day, that dropped to 45. On June 29, I was at 42. Now I’m at 34 subscribers. I wanted to know if it’s natural for reader amounts of a feed to go down like this, without also going back up. Is it because my content isn’t as good as usual (I know I’ve been slacking a little), or is this normal? The weird thing is, I just added the “subscribe to the feed” section in the top of the sidebar when my reader amounts started going down. That’s the opposite of what should have happened. So I don’t know what else I can do. Perhaps I can tack a little “subscribe” message to the bottom of each post, and hope that will do me some good. Has this ever happened to you, and if so, what did you do about it? By the way, happy July!

First and foremost, get a free spot in my blogroll by commenting on THIS POST *click* I’ve just installed and activated a new plugin for this blog; it’s called Subscribe to Comments . This is a plugin that lets commentators on Super Blogging check a box before commenting. By checking this box, you will receive future comments on that post by subscription to your email. This helps to you to keep up with discussion on any certain post, or see replies to your comment. It’s very helpful! For example, if you make a comment on a post asking a question, you may want to subscribe to that post so you’ll have the answers come directly to your email inbox. Or if there is an informative post and you want to receive all the discussion, there’s another reason to check the box. OR, if you have a blog of your own, you may want this very popular plugin. Google Ads with Rounded Corners
2007-06-28 14:00:39
I was over at ProBlogger and came across a post that informed me of a new option Google has given its publishers: your Adsense ads can now have square edges, slightly rounded, or very rounded. Click here to see previews of the three different ad border styles. I think it’s great that Google is giving Adsense publishers more choices in the look and feel of the ads they run. A selection of different border types is not huge a difference, but it never hurts. However, when I use Adsense, I blend the ads into my site and you cannot see the borders at all, so these differently shaped edges would not matter for me. But I can see how this will be very nice for some people whose ads are not completely blended. More options never hurt anybody, and it’s not something to complain about, even if I won’t be using it! What do YOU think about the new slightly rounded and very rounded edge options? Will you be using them, or do you not have borders visible on your Adsense ads you run?

Make Money Blogging with Smorty
2007-07-04 06:07:27
I recently joined Smorty, a fantastic service for bloggers where you can make money by writing your opinions on certain topics. Smorty connects advertisers with bloggers, and advertisers can pay bloggers to write about their site or service, including a linkback to them. When you sign up with Smorty, you will have your own dashboard interface which shows you your new opportunities and pending tasks. It also shows you your Smorty score, your post information, and earnings information. It’s easy to get paid to blog with Smorty. Each opportunity pays you at least six dollars, and some can pay up to one hundred! The money is delivered to your Paypal on a weekly basis. Smorty is so simple and easy to use. If you have your own domain, a subdomain, or a Blogspot domain, you can join in on Smorty and start raking in the dough. Need Free Images for Your Blog Posts?
2007-07-03 06:05:07
Well-placed images in your blog posts draw the attention of your readers and make you look professional. Placing too many images is just as bad as placing too few (I’m worse with the latter). If your post is short, you’ll probably need no more than one picture, and sometimes none is fine. If you have a very long post, you can break it up and make it more interesting and less boring for your readers by inserting a couple of images. But where do you get those images? Sure, you can find something off Google Images . But you don’t really own those pictures. To avoid all trouble, it’s best if you get free pictures from stock photography indexes. The images are usually professional looking and top quality. Some of them you can pay for, but many are free. And using the free images from stock photography is completely fine. You will never run into trouble because you don’t own the picture and have the rights to it. They’re yours to use! The two I recomme

Success with StumbleUpon
2007-07-09 06:08:57
I was simply amazed with all the traffic I got from StumbleUpon yesterday with my post, 5 Helpful Sites You Should Be Aware Of. And I’m still receiving so many hits from that article! I got on and I went to my Live plugin and saw all the views that were coming referred by StumbleUpon, and it was for an article I didn’t stumble. Well, someone else had stumbled it, and 40 other people had rated it a thumbs up! Then later on I noticed hits coming from Popurls. My article had been featured under the StumbleUpon section, which just amazed me (I still consider myself quite the amateur blogger). I just started using StumbleUpon again after I’d given up on it a long time ago, but now I see how much it can help getting traffic. I’ve gotten more hits today than I’ve ever gotten before. I’ve also had more people online at one time than ever before - 139!!! After I discovered how well that article was doing with StumbleUpon, I added a Google Adsense block to

In Blogging, Sometimes You Have to Handle Rude People
2007-07-08 05:59:26
In every job, in everything you do, there will always be someone who is rude. That is the same for blogging. I’ve recently had an unpleasant experience with a person - I will not name any names. But when you come across a situation like this, you need to try your best to handle it properly. I hope I handled it properly. Pretty much I discovered someone who had copied one of my articles and pasted it on their blog. This person wasn’t completely wrong though - at the end of their post, they had written “Original post by Tay” with a link to me. However, my problem was that they had reposted my whole article in its entirety. It’s not like they had stolen it completely. I posted a comment on their post (my comment never would have gotten posted, because it had to be approved first). I said something along the lines of, “I know you linked to me and gave me credit at the very end of the post, but I would appreciate if you did not have the article up in

I’ve Broken Technorati’s Top 10K
2007-07-08 01:30:06
I’m very happy to announce I’ve broken Technorati ’s top 10K. At the time of writing my authority is 378, my rank is 9,780. There are 562 links to Super Blogging. But while it is great, it is a bittersweet victory. Why? I did not earn this myself, from hard work and determination. Most of my links are from viral linking trains (ViraLink and ViralTags). While many are genuine links to my blog and my posts, a lot are not. While I love being under 10,000 in my ranking, sometimes I just wish I could see how long it would have taken me to achieve that on my own. Another downside, besides it not being completely honest, is punishment from Google. Hundreds, maybe even thousands of bloggers participated in the viral trains, ViralTags especially. Google cannot punish them all (can they?) but it still leaves me worried. If your links are not genuine it can end up damaging you in the long run, something I didn’t think of before. But I hope everything turns out okay for

Join Communities on MyBlogLog
2007-07-07 06:13:15
If you’ve been reading lately you might know that I’ve written an article on MyBlogLog before, found here. It’s about using MBL effectively, and talks about visiting sites with the recent reader widget installed, having a very noticeable icon, and joining communities. Now I’d like to talk more about joining communities. I have been joining 15 communities a day (or I try), and this creates so much exposure for me. When you join a community on MyBlogLog, it lists you as a member of that community as your icon and it links to your profile. If people see your icon in the community and click on it, they’ll be taken to your profile, and all they have to do then is click through to your site! I’m very happy to announce that MyBlogLog is now in my top referrers for traffic. Many of the people who visit this blog get here from seeing me on MBL!! If you want that kind of traffic and exposure, you’ve got to join 15 communities a day (I would join more bu

5 Helpful Sites You Should Be Aware Of
2007-07-06 06:02:28
There are so many sites out there that are helpful tools, and I have plenty of them in my bookmarks! However, today I will introduce you to five of the websites I have favorited for quick access, and I hope at least a couple of them will be useful to you. 1.) JotForm - This site is a tool for an easy form builder. You can make contact forms, satisfaction surveys, job applications, time sheets, and party RSVP’s, just to name a few. You can also use the blank form and mold it into anything you want, and have it include dropdown menus, checkboxes, file uploaders, buttons, text, and more. In your creation you can add a captcha, a password box, birthdate picker, and dozens more. Using JotForm, you can create almost any kind of form or survey imaginable. It’s a pretty handy tool, especially if you need to make something for your website. 2.) Alphabetize - I found this one over at MAMD. You can paste any list into it and it will arrange every item to alphabetical order. It can

I’m getting SICK of it
2007-07-12 12:24:21
I’m getting absolutely sick and tired of people thinking it’s just fine to take my content. This happened just a few days ago, and I wasn’t happen about it. Now I don’t even know what to say. Don’t people know that plagiarism is illegal? Taking other people’s words and claiming them for your own is illegal - even if it is online! Over at Rediffiland, a place to have your own special web space and such (I think it’s for Indian bloggers), on one person’s page they copied and pasted, word for word, my article about blog top lists. And you know what? They didn’t even give me a link back. Their page was full of “their information” about getting traffic and such. But they stole my article without giving any credit. Nothing. I wouldn’t have even found out about it unless I’d received the pingback from the the ViralTags they did on the same page. Hah. Clever. Basically, I’m tired of it. What’s wrong with

Super Blogging is a DoFollow Blog!
2007-07-11 21:12:25
I’ve been meaning to do this for some time now and I finally put off the procrastination. Super Blogging is now a dofollow blog! I have another thing to mark off my list of to-dos after installing this plugin. What is dofollow? Basically it is the opposite of nofollow. If links have “rel=nofollow” in them, the link will not be counted by Technorati or Google. Links that are follow and nofollow both look the same, but they are treated differently. The nofollow one doesn’t count, you might say. It won’t improve your rankings and you won’t get PageRank juice from it. Automatically this blog sets a nofollow command to all the links in the comments. If you’ve left a comment on this blog, and put in your website address, it was automatically set as a nofollow. But not anymore! Read on… What does installing this plugin have to do with anything? Now that I have installed the dofollow plugin, the links to your website on the comments you leav

Wordpress Polls Plugin Reviewed
2007-07-11 05:37:20
Yesterday I installed a plugin on this blog which allows me to create a poll (or polls). It’s very easy to use, offers a lot of options, and looks great! The WP-Polls plugin is great for any type of blogger. No matter what your niche, if you have something quick to ask your readers or need some information to improve your blog, this gets it done. When creating a poll you enter your question and the answers voters can select between. You can also set it so multiple answers can be selected, and up to how many. You can set a start and end date for the poll, or make it so it never expires. You can fully customize how your polls look, between their colors, size, fonts, and how answers and results are sorted. You get to decide who votes and how the voters are logged so they can’t vote over and over and ruin your statistics. If your Wordpress blog allows the use of widgets, then this will be extra easy. You just activate the plugin and then put the widget in your blog where yo

Awarding Thoughtful Bloggers

Today I was over at Mark’s blog, Me And My Drum, and I noticed that I had been awarded the Thoughtful Blogger Award, which is for bloggers that think of others and are generally thoughtful. Thank you! The exact description for the Thoughtful Blogger Award is this: “For those who answer blog comments, emails, and make their visitors feel at home on their blogs. For the people who take others feelings into consideration before speaking out and who are kind and courteous. Also for all of those bloggers who spend so much of their time helping others bloggers design, improve, and fix their sites.
