What happened to spring?
2007-04-05 03:58:00
Last night Jay and I walked the dogs in shorts and a tee shirt. We had all the windows open in the house, the ceiling fans on and were still warm. We had the windows open in the cars, and I was enjoying the moonroof being open. We noticed flowers blooming, leaves budding on the trees and we were laughing that the lawn needs to be mowed. Now, it's snowing out there. WTF? I want the warmth!

Good News and Bad News
2007-04-04 04:22:00
Don't you hate it when a doctor tells you that he has good news and bad news? He then asked what I wanted first. The good news of course, which is that I don't have an infection. YAY! I was worried that I had strep or a sinus infection or any other numerous things wrong. So, now it's time for the bad news. "It's not an infection!" he cheerily replied. That's the bad news? You said that

April Fool's Day!!
2007-04-01 14:42:00
Last year I tried to play an April Fool's joke on my oldest son. He was invited to a birthday party that day, and I told him the party was canceled because the birthday boy was really sick. Zach got all disappointed, and then laughed when he realized I was only fooling with him. Two hours later, the birthday boy's mother called. Her son had come down with chicken pox and they had to cancel

She's back - the good old tooth fairy
2007-03-31 04:13:00
Devon has a loose tooth. He said that he broke it on a piece of candy, but I figure it just wants to come out. He'll have it forever, though. He won't wiggle it and move it around to help it along. Big difference from Zachary, who would practically rip the tooth out of his head, spurting blood everywhere. Anyway, I hate the tooth fairy . She always forgets to come. Our tooth fairy needs

Ramblings...
2007-03-30 03:41:00
I had Nicky's Parent/Teacher conference today. I asked him this morning what his teacher will say about him. He said, "She'll say I'm good, I do all my work and I am very smart!" as he put the most angelic look on his face. He was right. That's exactly what she told me. And that everyone wants to squeeze him and take him home. I bet their attitude would change if they did take him home!

Marsha is Growing!
2007-03-28 05:18:00
I took her to the vet today for her rabies shot and other boosters and she now weighs 4.7 pounds! Three short weeks ago she weighed only 3 pounds. She's certainly grown into our family. Even Tyson has taken a liking to her, and the two of them play and run around the house like old friends.

Pack away that snow blower and take out the lawn mower
2007-03-26 02:37:00
Spring has sprung and I hope it is for good! We hit 65 today, the kids were outside in short sleeves playing most of the day (except for "I'm too hot breaks" - imagine what summers are like for us!) Even the grass is looking green and parts of the lawn are growing already. If we have the forecast that the weather channel is predicting, we may just be mowing soon. I am more than ready for

48 Hours Continuously Refreshing a Web Page
2007-03-24 04:22:00
That's how I spent my time the last two days. Refresh, refresh, did the item sell out yet? Some things dragged on forever, and some things sold instantly. What? What am I talking about? You must be a newbie to woot.com then, and more importantly, the W00t-off. Woot is known for 1 day, 1 deal. Each day they post a product and when that product sells out, there is nothing until the next day.

"I'm not Six Anymore - I'm all Growed Up!"
2007-03-22 19:36:00
Yesterday was Devon's seventh birthday. How time flies! It seems as if we just took him home from the hospital, and now he's seven. And what a funny kid - each birthday he has to show us how grown he is now. "I'm not six anymore! I'm a big boy, not a little one! I know better than that!" His wish list this birthday was to get an MP3 player, so that is what we bought him. Jay added some of

You're Invited!
2007-03-20 05:09:00
You're Invited. To a party. Tomorrow. That's wht Devon's birthday party invitations are going to read like. He decided after much fuss to invite all the boys from his class. I was super sick last week (and still have leftover effects this week), and finally got the invitations written out so he could take them to school Friday - one week before the party. He forgot to hand them out! UGH!

A Crapload of Fun!
2007-03-18 03:27:00
Every once in awhile Woot.com offers their much desired and desperately sought after Bag of Crap, usually during a woot off. Geeks everywhere, myself included, sit at the computer endlessly hoping to score a BoC or two or three. You have to move quickly - sellout is extremely fast. After the last woot off and only a few on EA were fortunate enough to snag some crap, one of the girls came up

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
2007-03-17 19:36:00
In celebration today, we made green milkshakes. The boys gobbled them down. We've been searching for leprechauns, but other than the one on the Lucky Charms box, we haven't seen any. Perhaps our freshly fallen snow scared them off? Have a great day today!

That thing is so cool! What is it?
2007-03-17 04:12:00
I had to peel the boys out of bed this morning. They were not ready to wake up. Finally their sleepy little eyes opened, and they dutifully (and in a painfully slow manner) got dressed and dragged their little feet into the kitchen for breakfast. That is when they saw it. Their eyes bugged out. They woke up in a hurry. They rushed over in amazement and excitement as they yelled "Can we have

A little music in your conversation
2007-03-16 13:50:00
I finally got a new cell phone now that my plan with Cingular is up. And Jay liked my phone so much that he got one for himself for personal use so he doesn't have to take his business phone everywhere he goes. It's a cool little multimedia phone that holds about 10 mp3's with the memory card included (but you can upgrade that if you choose), FM transmitter, a 1.3 megapixel digital camera with

I've got the flu
2007-03-15 19:14:00
I'll be out of commission for a few days while I recover. The flu is a major ass kicker - I'm miserable! I really hope that no one else catches it. Jay is staying far away from me for fear of getting it.

Some Weirdness
2007-03-13 13:58:00
Before I get into my weirdness, I need to give a shout out to Tricky at Bully for helping me use dual background images on my blog. I'm trying to change the look a bit, and will play around with different photos until I find a few I'm happy with. Thanks, Tricky! Now, I'll share a few weird things I've seen lately (most are courtesy of various people on EA.) The Beer Launching Fridge -

A Parade Like I've Never Seen Before
2007-03-12 00:05:00
This morning the boys were playing with the dogs, tearing around the house in a single file. First Tyson, then Zachary, with Devon close behind and Nicholas trailing back with the puppy firmly holding onto his pants with his teeth. As Nicholas ran, his pants began falling down slowly but surely and every once in awhile he'd have to stop to pull them up, almost taking the puppy off the floor

Best Friends, Worst Enemies
2007-03-11 02:05:00
The boys, for the most part, get along great. They play nice together and have a lot of fun. But there are just some days that I want to lock myself in the bathroom and hide out and let the blood flow. Today is one of those days. Devon is still pissed about yesterday. He invited one of his classmates over to play, but his friend spent more time playing with Nicholas than Devon. Of course,

Mutant Rodent Kids
2007-03-09 22:45:00
Well, the play is over and the boys didn't look too bad. From far away, the costumes almost looked normal. They did pretty good, too, considering that Nicholas was trying hard to stay away and Devon didn't sing 99% of the songs and spent the good part of one seeing how far his lip can pull out like taffy. One song was about the Three Musketeers and I'll have to download a clip of the video

Mother of the Year, I'm Not
2007-03-09 04:10:00
I knew I should have just ordered the costumes for the boys' play. Little Miss Crafty I am not, and even though the directions to make mouse and pig ears looked easy, I should have known that it was a ploy to sucker women in and then make them feel like less of a mother because it's impossible to actually put together. Or something. The play is tomorrow. My kids are going to look like mutant

Excuse me, I Just Wooted
2007-03-08 14:49:00
Well, I wooted last week if I am going to be correct. Anyone not familiar with the website woot.com should really check it out. One day, One deal is their motto and they hold true. Every day they have one product for sale, and when that product sells out, they offer nothing until the next day. I love to go to woot.com to read their product descriptions - always hilarious. Somebody there has

Another day, Another Delay
2007-03-07 18:19:00
I woke up this morning to no more than an inch and a half of snow on the ground. Around here, that's a tragedy and I opened the school closings page with dread. As I clicked the link and scrolled down to the letter that coincides with our district, I held my breath. Sure enough, there we were listed with a two hour delay. Once again I wondered why I couldn't go to a school that closed

A Note From the Drop-out
2007-03-07 02:45:00
The boys and I were sitting around the kitchen table having milk and cookies and discussing school work. As Zachary and I began talking about different shapes in geometry, Nicholas looked on with interest. Of course the kids can't believe that I might actually know things that don't have to do with the house or raising children. We got to rhombus and Jay and I both drew a blank on what it was.

Things I've Learned from my Children
2007-03-06 00:45:00
We've all learned things from our kids - some nice and some that we are probably better off not knowing. Here are just a few of mine: I've learned that depending on how hard you slam a plastic cup into the sink directly determines the distance of the splash of contents inside the cup. Yes, it is possible to hit the counter. And the walls. And the ceiling. I've learned that no matter how

Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!
2007-03-05 20:11:00
This was taken today. Marsha is doing great with crate training, and she doesn't make a fuss when we put her in her crate. She just sits there quietly and waits for us to let her our again. She's playful, and fun and everyone loves her. Tyson has been more tolerant, so he'll come around fully in time.

Easter and other things
2007-04-10 18:28:00
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter . I certainly did! My brother and his wife and their boys came to visit, and so did my parents, so we had a full house. We made some beautiful baskets for the boys, and they were quite pleased with them! And then we had an egg hunt (indoors, unfortunately, because the weather out there sucks!) and the boys had a great time with that, also. We cooked

Horray! Tee-ball!!
2007-04-14 06:26:00
Tomorrow the two little ones have tee-ball tryouts. I can't believe that they actually do try-outs and drafting for the little ones, but they do. I can't wait - I'll have to have the cameras all ready. Jay is coaching again, so he'll get to pick his team. He is excited to get names and start the season. And the season starts quickly - Devon will have his first game next weekend! At this

Nicholasisms
2007-04-13 03:34:00
Nicholas is the child that has us rolling on the floor the most often. The things he comes out with are just hysterical. Tonight was no exception. In school, Devon is learning about fractions. He is quite proud of all that he learns and he tries to implement it all in daily life. So, as he was eating his dinner tonight, he happily exclaimed, "Look, Mom! I ate one quarter of my food!"

Scarlet is back again!
2007-04-19 04:06:00
Scarlet as in Scarlet fever. Zachary broke out in a rash and that's what it was diagnosed as. Great - just what we need in the house. A round of strep. Ick! Jay held his first teeball practice tonight and I had to be there because I am officially the "team mom" now. Yes, I worked hard to earn that title. Jay went to the coach's meeting, heard he needed a team mom, and well, I was the

TGIF
2007-04-20 19:29:00
What a week we've had! Between little league and Zachary being sick, we've been busy, busy, busy. Devon got his uniform yesterday and his game schedule, and Nicholas is getting his tonight. I can't wait to see how often we'll be at the ball park, between games and practices I am going to bet quite a lot. I got a letter from school yesterday about my son's "irregular attendance." WTF - he
