Then There Were Three
2005-11-14 20:59:00
It seems I am now homeschooling three children instead of two. I never planned on homeschooling my oldest since he liked public school so much but thanks to the stupid rules here I haven't been left with much choice. If the school system here had it their way my son would be out of school for over a month and then once I actually COULD register him they would most likely hold him back next year for missing too many days. He is so smart that I just can't stand the thought of him being snuffed out educationally like that.So I have been scrambling for a few weeks now trying to figure out HOW to homeschool a high schooler. I've been so afraid of messing up and holding him back that I swear I have another ulcer. LOL. Things are settling down now though and I'm starting to relax some thanks to the help of the local homeschool groups here. They have been wonderful and very helpful with information. BB is even trying out their Teen Group which has about 5 other teenagers in it.At this poin

We're Off To See The Wizard.
2005-10-24 17:13:00
Okay so we're not REALLY off to see the wizard but we are off as in ready to move. The house is almost completely packed up and we get the truck tomorrow so we can start packing it. Everyone is getting excited and I think we're all ready for this.As of today we are eating the gourmet meals (aka microwaveable) off the fine china (aka paper plates, cups, and plasticware) and using our best napkins (yep, that would be the papertowels). We figured that once the kitchen is clean we want it to stay that way so no using the stove or oven. Besides, I packed all the pots and pans last night. :DMoving with this family scares me. The last time we moved from one state to another was pure hell. Vin was a bear, I had a 6 month old that screamed bloody murder half the way, and two other kids that complained constantly about how bored they were. I was ready to leave them all in Alabama at one point but of course I couldn't.This time it will be an almost 3 year old, a teenager, and a preteen. Oh yea

We Like To Move It Move It!
2005-10-06 09:58:00
Sorry, that's one of A-man's fave songs and it was what entered my mind. lolWell we are on the move yet again. Vin got a transfer and we are moving to another state on October 27th. Things are obviously a whirlwind around here and we're trying to figure out how to make this move fairly easy on us for once. I don't see that happening but it's always nice to hope. ;) Vin's company isn't paying for relocation, travel, and they also aren't paying him at all for the entire week of work he will miss. This part royally sucks because that is a week's pay we will be out. The new place wants him to start on a Monday. We won't get to the new place until Sunday (we are NOT going to rush ourselves this time) night and there is just no way Vin can start first thing Monday morning so that means he will have to wait an entire week before he can start the new job. This job here says he will be off their books as of October 27th. New place says he won't be ON their books until November 7th. S

Mean People Suck!
2005-10-03 01:41:00
The last few weeks have been nothing short of a roller coaster but I would like to dedicate this post to.....Our landlords who officially make me sick!! We FINALLY got our deposit the other day and they kept almost half of it for complete BS reasons. In other words, they had to figure out a way to pay for all the screwed up crap in that house before they could sell it so they screwed us.They kept part of it because according to them, the plumber had to come out twice in six months because of us. Now the REAL story is that the plumber came out once because there was never proper maintenance done on the septic system of the house. In fact, the guy from Roto-Rooter informed us that there was no way it could have filled up just in the year and a half at the time that we were there. The landlords circled "Full of Grease" on the copy of the receipt though. Ummmmm newsflash, we never dumped grease down the damn drains!! EVER! So it wasn't from us and again the plumber said as much too. The s

My Girlie Is Eleven Today
2005-09-16 16:01:00
I can't believe how quickly these kids are growing up. Today Sis is 11 and I just can't believe that. Thankfully she is an immature 11 which means I don't have to worry about her asking for makeup, wanting a boyfriend, or trying to dress sexy. I get to enjoy her being a kid just a little bit longer.Last night I sat and thought about every birthday of her's for the last 11 years and couldn't help but smile at the memories. Her doing the Macarena when she was 2. Getting her ears pierced at 8. Her slumber party at 9 and this year the memoral thing will be buying her a bra on her 11th birthday. LOL. Poor kid. She has honestly been the hardest child for me because we knock heads together so much but she is my only little girl and has taught me so much just like the boys. She's an irreplaceable part of this trio that completes my heart. She's celebrating her birthday tomorrow when her friend is here so I'll wait until after the weekend to post (or complain) about it. ;)Happy Birthday

Pass The Pillow and Blanket Please...
2005-08-24 23:35:00
The move went fairly decent with only a few down points here and there. Vin pulled a muscle in his back again, I did too much so I'm exhausted, and there are a few things wrong with the apartment but all in all not a bad move. The one person I was worried about the most ended up taking it the best! The old house is the only house Lil Man has ever known. We moved in when he was 6 months old so it's always been his "home". I figured he would be upset and disoriented for a few days with maybe a few temper tantrums thrown in. Totally the opposite. He enjoyed running from room to room and the minute he found out that he gets a "playroom" for a few months (due to the older two being made to share a room as punishment) he was on Cloud Nine! Now you can't get the boy out of that room without playing "Let's Make A Deal".Today we took Sis to her homeschool gymnastics class. My conversation with the Lil Man went something like this..."Mama, we go Sissy's gymnastics now?""Yes sweety, we're go

I'm Not Ready!!
2005-08-03 21:49:00
Just yesterday he was in my belly and the u/s tech was saying "Don't go painting the room blue yet but it looks like a boy".Just yesterday he was eating his first birthday cake and sitting on my lap.Just yesterday he was having his second birthday and clinging on to his Barney doll.Just yesterday he was in Preschool learning new songs and making me a Mommy's Day gift with his own precious hands.Just yesterday he was letting me know he was okay to ride the bus all by himself.Just yesterday he told me he was a big boy because he graduated from Kindergarten.Just yesterday he was starting Junior High and starting to talk about girls. And just today I cried as my oldest baby started his first day as a Freshman in High School. This morning he hugged me and walked out the door a young man. No longer a little boy holding my hand and wanting to show me his newest fingerpainting. Now he's a young man who can't wait to get his driver's license and graduate from High School. Hanging out with f

On The Move
2005-07-26 05:55:00
We will be moving on August 19th and kissing this craphole of a house goodbye. It will be nice not having to constantly worry about mold, or leaking ceilings, or any of the stuff that came along with renting this house plus the kids are happy because the pool is right beside our building so even I can't use the excuse "It's too far to go today". LOL.Other than that we are hoping to go see Vin's mom for Thanksgiving this year. It will be the first time we have spent a holiday with Nancy so it's kind of exciting. Hopefully all the kids will behave themselves while we're there so she doesn't end up wishing she hadn't invited us. :)Big B starts HIGH SCHOOL next Wednesday and actually asked me last week if he could be homeschooled. It floored me to say the least because he has always been against homeschooling. At this point though he is going to try going to regular High School and if it's not working out then we will discuss homeschooling. I'm just worried I can't handle both ki

FINALLY A Nice Day!
2005-06-23 02:20:00
This family has so few nice days that I couldn't help but want to post about it today. :)Early this morning Vin and Sis left to go to his mother's in Texas for a few days. She works for the airlines so flying them out there didn't cost us anything. Sis was so excited for several reasons- she's never been on an airplane, she's never gotten to spend time with/bond with Vin, and she gets to spend time with Nancy. I was so happy for her that Vin asked her to go along. I talked to her several times today and she's having a great time even though they're mostly just fixing things around the house. She DOES have a black eye though. Yep, she's her mother's child alright. Ran right smack into the passenger mirror on Nancy's Bronco while helping out in the garage. LOL. Nancy bought her some sandals though, they are having pizza for dinner, and she gets to see Batman Begins at the IMAX theatre tomorrow so I think she'll get over it okay. ;)Meanwhile here at home- Lil Man, Big B, and my

Happy Father's Day!
2005-06-19 17:39:00
Well today is Father 's Day and I did pretty darn good if I do say so myself. The kids and I got and did things for Vin that I KNEW he would like. We paid for him to get an hour long massage yesterday which was something he'd never had before. I figured he could use the relaxation considering the fact that he has been on this rollercoaster ride with me the last 9 months. He said he really liked it and would love to do it again sometime so that is info I will save for maybe Yule or his birthday next year. :)After his massage I sent him and the oldest two kids to see "Batman Begins" at the movie theatre. To us this was a big deal because we NEVER go to the full price theatre and even only hit the Dollar theatre maybe once or twice a year. We just feel it's too expensive to go and much cheaper to watch stuff at home. Boy were we right!! It cost OVER $30 for the MATINEE for Vin, Big B, and Sis plus two candies, a popcorn, and two drinks!! That is just unreal!! I mean, the cost didn't ma

Growing Too Fast
2005-05-30 17:28:00
Today my little one turns 2 1/2. I honestly can't believe it's been that long. :( It seems like the last two years have just flown past when all I wanted was to savor and enjoy every minute. Lil Man is my last baby so it is even harder with him. All of this has been full of "last times" for me. Of course, everyday with him is like an adventure. He is one of the funniest little kids I've ever known and he keeps me laughing. It seems each of my kids have given me exactly what I've needed at different times in my life. For that I am forever thankful to all three of them.So Lil Man is 2 1/2 and not a baby anymore. Eventually I will quit crying when I say or type that but for now I will let the tears fall and try to steel myself for the months and years to come when he gets even bigger and older. Your last baby is definately the hardest one to watch grow up. Then again, watching the other two get older, start to go through puberty, and become small adults has been no picnic either. LOL.

Lil Man, You're Obsessing...
2005-05-24 23:27:00
"I ossessing Mommy?""Yes, you're obsessing again""I ossessing yike I was er-e-er wif da train table?"*laughing hard* "Yeah kind of like you were obsessing over the train table today""Okay I no ossessing e-more"Two and a half years old and he never fails to crack me up! The things this child says sometimes just amaze me. How can someone so little be so smart and funny? One of his favorite words right now is "crack". Everything is crack. "You cwack me up Daddy", "You on cwack Thissy", "I see your cwack", and so on. The person that started this will pay as soon as we find out their identity! I guess it's better than "dammit" which we heard a few times and went into panic mode over fearing it was going to be the next word de jour for Lil Man.Anyway- time to go play with my baby boy while he is "ossessing" over his dinosaurs laying an egg. LMAO

My oldest "baby" is 14 years old today.
2005-04-26 16:58:00
:( I have no clue why but this is just killing me. I sat in bed last night remembering when I was pregnant with him and when he was born. I remember when we had the u/s that told us what we were having. I still remember the tech saying "Don't go painting the room blue but it looks like it's a boy!". :) I remember the day he was born laying him on my chest while we listened to The Little Mermaid playing on the TV in the hospital room. I remember the shear terror I felt the first year of his life because of my fear of SIDS. I don't think I slept one whole single night that year.I kept a journal for him the whole pregnancy and reading back through it just brings so many memories. I'm glad I thought to do that.My little boy is now 5'7" tall, wears bigger clothing than I do, has a mustache, and is already a cancer survivor. I'm too young to be a mommy of a teenager. No... really... I'm too young! LOL. I had the kid at 16 for crying out loud!He didn't want presents this year just wan

Shoot Me. Please?
2005-03-18 21:09:00
Oh yay, another Teacher In Service day meaning not only do I have Sis and Lil Man home as usual but Big B too. I really do love my kids but when you get the oldest two in a room it's like having THREE toddlers and you just want to rip your hair out! They fight over EVERYTHING and I do mean everything.Tonight I think I'll let Vinny be in charge and just lay low. He'll enjoy the power trip and the oldest two will be miserable but you know, if they can't be nice to me then maybe they need someone to ride their asses a little. Hate to say it but unfortunately it is true.

Me? Stressed? What Stress?
2005-03-17 17:17:00
Well as of the 7th I am now a homeschooling mama. OY VAY!! I was getting ready to do this NEXT year for 5th grade with Sis but it looks like I get a crash course this year instead. We just decided that she is miserable in that school. All her teachers have a really shitty attitude towards her which I know she's frustrating but I'm sorry, our taxes pay you to at least be decent to my child and NOT let her know you hate her! Besides that, she's getting good grades but doesn't seem to be really learning much. I mean, she still struggles with remembering her multiplication tables unless she counts them on her fingers and just has a hard time with math all around yet no one at school will help her. So we're doing it on our own. I've started her back at learning the multiplication tables again and we'll go from there. I want her to be educationally equivalent with children in GOOD states with GOOD school systems by September. Just because this place is hick stupid doesn't mean my chi

Recall- Listerine Cool Agent Blue
2007-05-06 02:25:00
Well isn't this just lovely? According to MSNBC and Listerine they are recalling every single bottle of Agent Cool Blue that was sold (in both flavors) which big suprise comes to 4 million bottles of the stuff. Sadly, this stuff has been dentist recommended the whole time it's been out so you can imagine what some dental professionals must be thinking about this. The recall says though that Agent Cool Blue hasn't made anyone sick...yet... well gee, thanks for that. As if the idea of turning our kids' teeth blue in order to supposedly help them brush better wasn't enough. UGH!Thanks to a new dentist we were trying out, our household would be one of the 4 million who had this crap in their bathroom. Luckily MonkeyBoy hated the stuff so we only used it twice but still! Of course, as you can obviously see on the MSNBC site this news is almost a month old so I'm sure most of you already know about the recall. This post is mostly just for the others like me who are still in Cluelessv

Bid4prizes.com
2007-05-05 05:15:00
I’ve been hearing about the Bid4prizes site lately so I decided to take my amazon blonde self over and find out what it was about. Now I'm glad I did because it was a lot of fun looking at all the cool prizes they have. From what I gathered on their FAQ's page, all you do is register and then go wild sending texts from your cell phones to place your bids for whatever prizes you are wanting. There is a guy my husband works with that is going to LOVE this idea! That boy is always texting somebody for some reason or other. We all know with Ebay you bid on something you want, highest bid wins, the winner pays shipping and whatever other fees the person demands, and then you're left to hope that what you get is in the condition the seller said it is. Just the opposite with Bid4prizes. Here you bid as low and as uniquely as you can in order to win the prize you want. For example, if you are the only person to bid $0.01 then at the end of the bidding you win the prize! Could you imagine pa

Okay, The Click Ads Stuff I Get
2007-05-08 06:04:00
I just want to say thank you to everyone who commented on the Technorati Fave Train post. I always enjoy hearing what others think about this stuff (just in case they see it in a way I haven't yet). While blogsurfing the other day I realized something. I know, you smell smoke. Ha Ha! Bite Me! Anywho- I started thinking more about the click ads that alot of people have on their sites here lately and I decided to be a little more pro-active this time (instead of semi-negative like with the train). As you can see, there are click ads in the sidebars on this blog and sometimes I do paid posts as well. It's not really my idea of fun but the truth is that when you've got $150.00 a month in prescription co-pays and hubby is the only one able to work, well ya gotta bring in a little cash somehow to help. I still try to make sure I have more fun posts and stuff in the sidebars than paid stuff though because first and foremost this blog is for fun.So yesterday I checked the earning stats for so

Shhhhhhhh It's A Secret

Secret Agent Josephine that is!! She's used some of her intriguing spy techniques to give LWH a completely new and personalized banner. Isn't it great? Dontcha wish you had one? Aren't you just soooooooooooo jealous? HA, I knew it!This lady's talent is amazing and I am honored to be one of her chosen winners for a free web graphic (see her site for details and enter to win your very own). The first time I saw Jenn at Mommy Needs Coffee's banner I fell in love with SAJ's awesome talent and ability to transform people into drawings/art. Jenn's banner looks just like Jenn does (check out those eyes!) and wouldn't you know it, ours looks just like us! SAJ knew that I look good in red and I think I even have BOOBS up there! Can ya see them?? ME. With BOOBS!!! Amazing!By the looks of it the picture she chose for inspiration was one I have on flickr of the kids dressed up for Halloween. It's even titled "See, Heathens". Oddly enough, I think all but the oldest were costumed (in the p

We're Breast Obsessed...
2007-05-17 04:43:00
It's funny how sometimes we bloggers end up choosing the same topics to write about. Last week I saved these two pictures- Tori Spelling breastfeeding pic and Maggie Gyllenhaal doing same so I could blog about them at a later date and give them a big thumbs up! I was so happy to see these celebrity moms being so real and not worrying about what people might think.Well, it seems that as I was saving and planning, other bloggers were actually DOING. As usual I'm a day late and about ten bucks short but now I can not only talk about Tori and Maggie but now these other bloggers too! :)Erin at Queen of Spain (her and the Kaiser actually have sex so I make sure never to read her blog when Hubby Guy is around. He might start getting it in his head that he's suppose to be getting some too ya know!) is so sick of remarks by stupid people about breastfeeding/showing that she's decided to free the puppies in support of bare breastfeeding boobies.I'd say she's doing several things here...*-

NOTTTTTTTTTTT Well at least now I know that if I'm offline for more than a day or two you guys will miss me. :) Heck, Meg will even call me to make sure I'm alright and everyone else in the house is still alive! How's that for love?! Sorry to go AWOL on ya for the past week. It wasn't because you smell bad or dress funny. Honest. Okay so maybe there is a little bit of a b.o. problem you've got there but not enough to drive me off. Yet. Oh and lose the red pumps would ya? They just don't work with your man boobs. Sorry.Anywho- last week this computer decided to throw a pissy fit and quit working on me. I'm guessing someone ended up getting spyware or a virus on it because it also attacked Hubby's computer upstairs which is on the same network. Hubby Guy is the computer guru in this family so if it's techie and it screws up then he's the one who fixes it while I just sit back and try to look all helpless and shit. Absolute GENIUS!!!
2007-05-20 08:26:00
I was going to post about what a big suckfest the neighborhood yard sale was today but mehhh it's not that interesting. Just one community with lots of people trying to pawn their worthless shit off on some other moron who will later pawn it off on another and thus the cycle continues. I spent a total of $2 on four books and a little stuffed Pikachu (which I covered in Lysol as soon as I got it home. Anal much? Why yes I am!) for MonkeyBoy. The yard sales sucking meant I had some free time this morning to actually blog surf. I found some kickass posts and sites that I wanted to share so here goes...Karrie at One Weird Mother is Bringing Messy Back. What could be better than a vacation in Hawaii? How about an environmentally friendly Hawaiian vacation? Seeing the beautiful sights on the islands while helping preserve that same beauty sounds like the perfect trip in my opinion. It looks like ecotourism is the way Hawaii plans on doing business from here on out. According to the Hawaii Ecotourism Association (HEA), ecotourism is defined as “nature and culture based tourism that is ecologically sustainable and supports the well being of local communities”. Obviously Hawaii is smarter than most other places because they realize that their natural beauty is a huge part of why people visit there in the first place. Lose the beauty and you'll lose the tourists but work with the beauty and things can only get better. Thanks to websites like HawaiianBeachRentals.com you can now plan your environmentally friendly vacation online quickly and easily. "In The Spotlight" Meme From Christy

I'm not sure but I'd really like to know what whoever keeps Googling "jo selfish heathens" is truly looking for. Besides, how many former teenage moms with a rare disorder, cancer, fibromyalgia, a Polish/Italian husband, and two stupid cats do YOU know that blog? Hmmmm? Yep, thought so... How Do Ya Like Me Now?!
2006-07-24 02:42:00
I am very happy to show off this wonderful new look compliments of Ro from Ciaobella Designs. She was an absolute pleasure to work with and I highly recommend her if you are wanting a new look for your site!I know this kind of look is not what those of you who know me expected. I'm sure you were thinking something a little more "dark" or sarcastic but I truly needed something bright and fun this time. As Ro said- it will give me a smile everytime I look at it and it truly does. So just get use to it people! LOL.Wanna know the best part? Orange is Lil Man's favorite color so I got to have an even bigger smile when he saw this page and exclaimed "Oh Mommy, it's got orange my most favorite color ever"!!. Thank you Ro, not only did you make my day but apparently Lil Man's as well. ;)Enjoy folks and please feel free to leave comments on what you think of it.

Any day now Life With Heathens is going to get a wonderful new facelift thanks to my cyber-friend, Ro, over at Ciao! My Bella! . Also, I see that she's giving away FREE CUSTOM DESIGNS to ten or more people. Her requirements are pretty easy so if you've been looking to beautify your blog...now is your chance!!So back to ME, between Ro and I we found a cute graphic to use and I'm honestly very happy with even just the THOUGHT of having this place look crisp and new! :) We must be patient though because from what I've read and seen, Ro's town was hit by a tornado (it looks like no one was hurt) causing alot of grief with DSL and electricity. Ummmm, I think I can wait because it's definately more important that her and her family is safe. Thanks to your comments I've also decided to keep the name as Life With Heathens. I was pretty convinced as it was but when my devoutly Christian (and the closest thing to perfect I've ever seen) friend, Kate, told me that even she would miss the

Please Keep Her In Your Thoughts
2007-05-20 18:56:00
*Update- She's gone. Patsy passed away around 9:30 eastern time this evening, Sunday. Her breathing slowed and she was gone within a few minutes. She was wrapped in love, to be sure.A very special mama from a few of the parenting boards I use to frequent might be losing her fight with lung cancer tonight- Patsy. She has always been a bright light on the mama boards and despite being dealt such a crappy hand (the cancer) she has been such an upbeat person through her struggles.Patsy has seven children and they just really need their mama for awhile longer so please pray, keep her in your thoughts, light a candle, or whatever it is you may do in times of need for her. I'm not very good at this since as an atheist I don't pray but I'm not beneath asking those who do pray to for one of their own. She is deeply in my thoughts though and my heart breaks with each tear I shed and believe me, this woman is so special that if you even knew of her you would be crying as well.I hate to sully t
