Being Without Power
2008-09-21 17:46:00
I have a story to tell you of something that happened in the Griffie household a couple of weeks ago. I was going to blog about it before, but then Ike hit Texas and caused so much devastation, that I didn't want to post my small little complaints - or you might think I'm a whiner. The bottom line is that I feel sorry for all of the people and pups who have been without power for an extended p

The Poop Review
2008-09-21 14:38:00
My next foray into the world of reviewing dog websites took me to The Poop - "the site where a dog can have its day."First of all, you have to like a website that calls itself The Poop. I happen to love double entendres. This site has a lot to recommend it, store, blog, pet adoption, recipes and more. While not being a specifically dog-oriented site, dogs are definitely featured. There are nice gr

Another fun weekend
2008-09-08 13:10:00
Sorry for being away so long. We had a full weekend and I was just too tired to get to posting anything. I am working on my next website review, so watch this space for news of the next site to catch my attention. On Saturday, we went over to GrandMuttMaw and GrandPupPaw's house and spent time with crazy Daisy again. Elsa is getting close to playing with her, but Daisy is still so excitable when we

Gourmet Sleuth Dog Treats Review
2008-09-01 19:16:00
Here is my very first review of the sites that I run across when searching for dog treats. First of all, I should give my method for searching. It is actually quite simple. I open up a browser window (ok - all of you in the peanut gallery, I said BROWSER, not BOWSER) and in the Google search widget, type dog treats and then enter. The results come up and I selected one randomly. The GourmetSleuth.c

Another Holiday to Celebrate
2008-09-01 01:25:00
Labor Day is upon us and I just thought I'd let you know how we celebrated today. We went to visit GrandMuttMa and GrandPupPaw and that crazy Daisy. We had a pretty good time. Daisy was even crazier this time for some reason than she was last time. But, after Mama helped GrandMuttMa to learn how to access her library account online and extend a book and put some others on hold, Daisy came in a

It's My Turn
2008-08-31 02:46:00
Finally! I can hardly get a paw in edge-wise these days. Mama has been working diligently on her book trailer and doing other things related to promoting Misfit McCabe, that getting time on the internet has been scarce for me. When am I supposed to look up new treat sites for crying out loud.Yes ~ it's true, I do surf the net searching for new treat sites. I am very picky about the treats I eat (o

Still the Petite One
2008-08-27 23:14:00
All right, this post is going to expose my vanity. Elsa is now bigger than I am, so I am still the most petite pup in the house. You don't know how much that makes me smile. I like being the littlest, especially since I am no longer the youngest. Elsa is longer than I am and also has longer legs. She's still smaller than Gryphon though because Gryphon is broader (and maybe a little taller). I enjo

YouTube Overload
2008-08-24 20:04:00
We are running on YouTube overload here today. My Mama is doing research on book trailers so that she can create a book trailer for her juvenile fiction book Misfit McCabe and my Papa seems to be searching YouTube for the videos of what stupid people will do and want to show everyone. It is amazing to me the things that people want to video tape and then broadcast to the world. With what my Papa

Ode to Pineapple
2008-08-23 19:26:00
Ok, as you know, I was skeptical about how this whole pineapple thing would be. I actually enjoyed it, against my better judgement. When Mama offered it to me, I sniffed it and it didn't smell half bad, so I stuck my tongue out and licked it. Sweet! It was sweet and a little tangy and so juicy it was practically dripping. That first taste was all it took, I grabbed the chunk and scarfed it down. T

Pineapple & Poop
2008-08-22 23:00:00
Today's topic is a little disgusting. It is about coprophagia (thanks to Gryphon for helping me look that one up) which means to eat feces. This is apparently a common thing among puppies, although I simply can't believe that I even thought about doing something so disgusting. Well, it is a topic in our household, because Elsa occasionally partakes. Now mind you, she usually doesn't eat her own, b

The Great Sucking Monster
2008-08-20 21:51:00
All you dogs out there - this is directed to you. How many of you hate that great sucking monster that roars through the house on a periodic basis. I know the Gryphon, Elsa and I do. There we are sitting comfortably on a lap or pillow and this thing comes out of the closet and wreaks havoc in our world.First of all, the NOISE!!! It is incredibly loud to our sensitive ears. You'd think the two

Pillow Talk
2008-08-19 14:48:00
Today's topic is pillows. Now you might think that a pillow is designed to rest your head on. Wrong! Pillows are for dogs to lie on. Now I don't know about big dogs, but I can tell you from the perspective of the petite pup, that the quality of the pillow matters. I myself like a nice, soft pillow that I can nestle my body down into, with a soft covering (yes - I prefer a pillow case).Gryphon like

The Food Game
2008-08-18 14:23:00
All you two-legged creatures out there, listen up! When it comes to food, dogs like to eat and they may or may not like to share. Now, Gryphon and I have always shared our food. We either eat from the same bowl, although sometimes at different times, or take turns getting treats from our Papa (and extra scraps of food that we're not supposed to tell Mama about.) Some dogs want separate dishes and

My New Puppy
2008-08-17 19:44:00
Gryphon points out that the title of this post is incorrect ~ it is Our new puppy and not just mine. Actually, no one asked me if I wanted a new puppy and if they had, I would have answered very quickly, "NO!" Gryphon and I had things very well and didn't really need a new puppy. After all, all I had to do was look at my Papa and he was starting to know what it was that I wanted. It's taken quite

Long Hiatus
2008-08-17 16:04:00
Well friends, it's been a long time. I'm sorry for the long delay, but it's been difficult getting some quality computer time. Why the long delay? Well, my Papa retired from the Coast Guard and was occasionally freelancing, but otherwise out of work, and I had the job of sitting on his lap and comforting him during the job search. Then, once he was once again gainfully employed, my Mama has been g

Paws Up!
2006-04-21 21:22:00
Several have asked about my sign off of "Paws Up!" and what it means. For me this is a phrase that has several meanings (as all good catch phrases should have). The first and foremost, and probably the one most will think of, is the dog-version of "thumb's up". Okay, it can be the cat version too, so all you cats out there can stop swishing your tail and settle down. So the meaning is great job, f

Holiday Howls
2006-04-19 22:16:00
I'm sorry that I haven't had a chance to get to the computer and let you know what has been going on with Gryphon and me, but my Mama has been hogging the keyboard. She's been tied up with getting a new aspect of the business up and running. Something about selling 24/7 computer support through Juvio ~ Solutions for Life. She seems to think it makes a lot of sense for the average home user and som

A Dog's Life
2006-04-04 23:41:00
Okay. Everyone has heard the phrase “A dog’s life” and it is used like it is supposed to be a bad thing. I’m here to tell you that a dog’s life can be pretty sweet. Take this morning for instance, everyone was sleeping nicely and all of a sudden this great whopping buzzer starts ringing. Both Mama and Papa start groaning and slooowwly moving to get the day started. Gryphon and I pok

Stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage. ~ AnonymousCage. Pen. Crate. Whatever you want to call it, they are made for animals. There seems to be a division among people as to whether these things are good or bad from the dog’s point of view. I won’t speak for other species such as birds because I’m not one and I don’t talk bird, so I can’t tell you how they feel about the

Who’s the Boss
2006-03-27 23:27:00
Believe it or not, I am starting my own blog. Mainly because I have a lot of opinions that I think everyone should know. Topic of the day? The fallacy of the relationship between man and dog. Historically speaking, man has always considered himself the master of his pets. When referring to a pet’s owner, we often hear something like “Phoenix’s master, Denny” (my Papa by the way).I’d like

Treat People Review
2008-10-01 22:34:00
When I first looked at Treat People, I thought the look a trifle plain. They do have some cute puppies in the header. They should have a picture of Elsa as a puppy, with her little nose-hawk. While the site design may lack bling, the treats they offer do not.Treat People offers the canine consumer, just that - their selection of treats. The brands that they provide are Pet 'n Shape, Greenies, BilJ

What Can be Cuter than Your Dog's Face?
2008-09-27 23:47:00
The other night, I was amazed as I watched my Mama bring up a site which she was led to by visiting one of the message boards that she frequents. This site was a contest for the cutest dog's face and my picture was not enetered. The criteria for entry was that the dog in question (moi) live in the OC. If living in Mickey Mouse's backyard doesn't qualify as living in the OC, then I don't know what d

Sharing Chews - 3 Makes a Difference
2008-09-24 00:24:00
This will be short one as it is late and my Mama is wanting to shut down and make herself a cup of tea. Doesn't she think I can shut down a computer by myself? I mean after all, I can certainly push these buttons. Tonight's topic is sharing chews. I don't chew often, because if chew is fresh, it is hard and can hurt my delicate gums. I do like to get the beef basted ones

The Puppy in the Mirror
2008-11-14 23:45:00
We are having a bit of an issue with Elsa because she keeps wanting to bark at the puppy in the mirror. While we are playing on Mama and Papa's bed, she'll catch sight of the puppy out of the corner of her eye and then she becomes obsessed. She runs to the edge of the bed and stares into the mirror and barks at the puppy. Mama and Papa have both tried to show her that she is the puppy in the mi

Elsa the Shar Pei puppy
2008-11-12 22:51:00
As I promised in my previous post, there are some Elsa stories just waiting to be told. This story starts with Elsa getting her operation so that Mama and Papa could register her and get her license. Well, apparently Mama thought Elsa already had her rabies, but she didn't, so she had to go back to the vet to get the rabies shot. Gryphon and I went with because Mama also decided that we all need

Finally!!
2008-11-06 22:46:00
I don't believe it! It has been over a month since I could even put a paw on the laptop, let alone have a couple minutes to post a blog. Right now, the only reason I have a few minutes is that my Mama is out in the kitchen fixing some tea. It has been terrible. I haven't been able to surf the net, look for new treats to beg for, or even catch up on all of the dog shows. My Mama has been working

A Moment of Thanks
2008-11-25 19:17:00
With Thanks giving coming closer it's a good time to look at your life and all of the good things that we have been blessed with. I, for one, feel that I have been a very fortunate pup. I have a Papa and Mama who love me and treat me like the princess that I am. I have Gryphon who has always been there for me, taking care of things so that I don't have to worry about anything. I have good food,

Elsa - the St. Bernard
2008-11-22 15:59:00
Ok, I thought I was done with Elsa stories, but she obviously likes my writing little stories about her. Last weekend Gryphon and I noticed that Elsa was drooling a little bit. Mama noticed too, but she thought it was that Elsa was sleeping so hard she drooled a little bit on the pillow she was laying on. Well, that was only the beginning. The drooling got worse, but Papa didn't notice it beca
