I’m wearing this orange tunic and white wide belt ensemble today for “Orange
and Maroon Effect Day“. Orange tunic, $3.99 from an Army Surpluss store in NY, Levi’s jeans, $21.99, white wide belt from Ebay, black buckle detail stilletos from PX, $12.99, and black cross beads long necklace, $7.99.
If any of you are bothered for the fact that I enumerated every item in my ensemble considering it’s supposed to be in support for the Virginia Tech victims, I just want to say, this is a Fashion blog specifically for styling on a budget. Therefore the focus is fashion. I have written about this tragedy in different blogs I write for.

Albeit my head is too big to fit in any headbands, I thought I’d let you know of Forever
21’s $4.80 faux snake headband. It’s also available in white and red.
This satin headband is only $2.80. It’s also available in TAUPE. Seriously, these prices are breaking my heart. But I just can’t see myself adjusting a headband in my head every second so I must forego this particular accessory much to my chagrined .

Oh I adore that skirt. I WANT that skirt…LOL. Using an OLD NAVY tank top to pair with this skirt is brilliant. This is exactly how I planned to wear my multi-print skirt, except for the flats coz I’m really not into them, Sorry. Anyhoo, this looks simple yet oh so beautiful. series, here’s a geometric print pink and white double surplice neckline dress. With ruched sleeves and a solid band around the waist that ties in the back. I found this Rampage print dress at Amazon for $50.99. I’m not much for a round toe flats but I think it will go nicely with this dress. Or a 3-inches high pumps, either way, you’d look fabulous in it .

This green swirled-oval surplice wrap dress is on sale at Kohl’s for $29.99. The solid wraparound sash gives it that flirty look in a subtle way and a very accentuated look without looking too overdone as well. A black pair of stilletos or black pumps would go nicely with this dress. Pretty huh?
I told Sasha I’ll never be able to afford the tropical floral dress($258) from Nordstrom but I’m sure I’ll find affordable versions so this is the beginning of a Bold Print

What I Wore : Belted Smocked Top W/ Red Heels

When I finally got my wide belts from EBAY, I thought to myself, “hmmmm, SELF, I’m sure there are are outfits we could come up with other than wearing the belts with dresses“. I’ve already wore the white belt with my off the shoulder orange tunic. And I planned on wearing the red one with one of my LBD’s.
Anyhooo, a light bulb went off and my bold printed smocked spaghetti straps babydoll top jumped at me. I’ve heard women say they don’t like wearing smocked tops because it makes them look pregnant. Well, I just found a solution for you. Wrap a belt around it. Wide ones though. Skinny belts wouldn’t work. I found this smocked top at Wal-Mart 3 years ago for $9.99(yes I still remember it), the red belt from Ebay, 2 for $15, L.E.I low-rise Chelsea jeans, $19.99. So, do you want to know what’s invading the Hollywood fashion these days? The Commando style is still rampant but it seems High-Waisted look is as well. I understand like any fashionista alive that fashion is a cycle. ’60’s inspired dresses are once again the rage. I love it. But high-waisted jeans? Not so much. Scratch that, NOT AT ALL.
I’m not going to tell people what to wear, well I’m going to try anyway but this is another classic example of why we shouldn’t copy celebrities. Don’t swallow everything that Jessica Simpson practically shoves in your throat. Granted Ciara and Mischa Barton actually looked kinda decent, you still wouldn’t catch me dead in those pants.

I love Bath and Body Works
. I particularly love their Plumeria line. They’re having their Buy 3 Get 1 Free deal right now. I wouldn’t mind trying their Peach line. I can alomst smell it’s sweetness. What I love about Bath and Body Works is that it really moisturizes my skin and it give me that silky feeling. I’m sure my husband appreciates it too .
What I Wore : Bold Print Skirt and A Tee

Remember that multi-print skirt that I went gaga over which I only paid $4.98 from it’s original price of $58? What about those ‘beater tees that I bought in different colors for only $4.88 each? Here they are, in full force . Wearing bold print fabrics can be a litlte tricky once you think about accessories. With that in mind, I stucked to a solid color. There is black on the skirt so I focused on that by wearing my black long necklace with cross pendant and black dangling earrings. The cross necklace gave it a “hippy” look actually. I loved it.
To continue with the black accents, I wore a black flip flops that I bought from the PX 3 years ago.

What I Wore : Bold Print Aqua Blue Skirt and Graphic Tee

Aqua blue bold flower print skirt with ribbon detail on the hem. Paired with the Aqua blue graphic tee. I wore my Mossimo brown/black wedge to finish the look. Sorry for the grainy picture. I took it in our bedroom with bad lighting and all. My in-laws were in the living room watching TV..lol. I didn’t want them to think I was crazy for posing and all that entails to take a nice picture of my outfit to show you my beautiful and stylish visitors. That’s how much I love you guys .
Anyhooo, I didn’t wear any accessories except for my usual wedding rings. The blue was bold enough to stand alone, don’t you think? The skirt is from the No Boundaries line from Wal-Mart. I can’t remember how much it was but I’m pretty sure it was under $10. I bought the L.E.I graphic tee from AAFES for $1.50. Read more about it here.

Friday’s Bargains: Brown Tankini W/ Beads & Embroidery Detail

I planned on wearing light colored swimwear this Summer but I saw these brown tankini with beaded and embroidery details on them and I was sold. Originally priced at $11.88 each but were on sale for $9.98. Yes. they’re sold separately. Why? As I told my husband, so the buyer could pick and match as she likes. They all have coordinates but it’s fun to mismatch sometimes. I picked a boy shorts for it instead of the bikini because I was also looking at an aqua blue pair in bikini. I didn’t wanna get 2 bikinis, yah know. But yeah, I bought this tankini and boy shorts first. I’ll go back for the aqua blue with beads bikini some other time. BTW, the halter top is backless. Ahh I can’t wait to wear ‘em this Summer. You can bet your bottom I’m doubling my work-out sessions…LOL.
I decided not to buy this and this since the brown tankini and boy shorts pair were cheaper. I’m always down for the bargains

Oh so sexy boy shorts. I LOVE THEM. Boy shorts are perfect for either lounging around the house, in bed at night or even for work-out bottoms. It’s actually great for doing PILATES. I reckon it’s good for doing YOGA as well. They’re just sexy period . I only bought 2 from Wal-Mart for $4.88 each. I’m planning on grabbing the orange, white and gray color next time.

What I Wore : Butterfly Blouse & Jeans

Last Saturday was our 10th Year Anniversary. For my dinner date outfit I decided to just go casual: blouse and jeans with heels. I actually planned on wearing a dress days before but the weather didn’t cooperate so jeans it was. My husband matched my casual look by wearing his own Levi’s jeans and a long-sleeves button up shirt. If he wore his khakis, the rain spats would’ve been all over it so the jeans was a more practical wear.
Moving on to my outfit , it’s a burgundy butterfly-sleeves V-neck blouse that I bought from RAVE for $9.99 with my Levi’s low-rise jeans and my oh so sexy red heels from PAYLESS.
For the accessories, I went with my 14″ long black/brown beads necklace and gold cylinder earrings from Claire’s. The earrings were actually in a free bag that Claire’s gave my Mother-in-law when we had my daughter’s ear pierced done. Yup, she paid for her grandaughter getting her first bling on .

It seems dear ‘ol Tar-Jay went to the next level and turned OLD NAVY’s shortalls/dungarees into a………….. oh let me hold onto my excitement a little bit longer………………SKIRTALL.
OK, one last opine from me about these blasted things. I mean it’s probably OK for gardening or painting. Albeit it’ll never grace my wardrobe, I can understand other women wearing it for such purposes. For me, I’d rather not see it on grown up women wearing it while out grocery shopping or whatever errands you need to be doing. Or when you’re out of your house. But that’s just me.
Another note, if you cut the bottom part from the back, you could use it as an apron. Hardy Har Har!

Get Your Hairapy!!

Have any of you tried any of Sunsilk’s products? There’s a shampoo for each hair problems. Their commercials are so witty that I couldn’t help but try them myself. The power of good merchandising, huh?
So far I’ve tried their Hydra TLC to help me fix my split ends problem. My hair gets too dry which is why it’s prone to split ends during the warmer weather. The Hydra TLC collection has Nutri-Keritan which makes your hair stronger and gives that softer look. I Love It.
Besides being prone to split ends, I also have anti-flat problem. Sunsilk has the solution for it too. I’ve tried their Anti-Flat collection and I love it as well. I don’t spend as much time blow drying after shower. This line adds life to my hair. Va-Va-Boom.
I have also tried their ThermaShine line. I love the results. It really does give you hair a shiny look. It also protects your hair from the heat-damage it probably gets from blow-drying.
