What to watch in tonight’s NBA games? 2007-03-30 16:58:32 Twelve games in the NBA
. Which are the worth watch
ing for?
Surely if you are a fan of a team, you are incline to watch them. What if you are just a person like me who watches only those better teams. I mean those playoff bound teams which are fighting for positions and gearing up for the showdown in May. Also, games that matches each other well with superstars at their disposal.
Indiana vs. Orlando will be fun, both of these teams are fighting for a slot. The Magic is currently at number eight, 33-39 record, while the Pacers is tied with the Knicks at 31-40 in ninth in the Eastern Conference standing.
How about the Spurs and the Jazz? The currently hot San Antonio matches against Utah’s methodical offense. I expect this to be a slow-paced game with defense the emphasis. This is a battle of patience in both ends of the floor.
Probably a preview of the first round Western Conference Playoff is the game between the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets. In contrast with the Spurs
The greatest pool shot ever? 2007-03-29 08:24:14 There is a video which entitled “The Greatest Pool Shot Ever”. It was a match of Efren Reyes and Earl Strickland, two of the prominent pool players in the globe.
Reyes in this video is playing safe but unintentionally pocketed the 8-ball. He had to take the shot that should be for Strickland. The great Mike Sigel, one of the commentators and half of the world considered him the greatest pool player of all time, even said that Reyes is in a big trouble.
Strickland’s heart was jumping as he raises his hands right after Reyes committed that mistake. But Reyes took a deep breath and used his creative imagination. He pulled off the greatest stroke of all time using two cushions as it hit the object ball and went in.
Mike Sigel and the crowds were surprised and shocked in awe of the magnificent shot Efren Reyes had just made. Earl couldn’t believe it. Even Efren!
Though half of the world believe that Efren Reyes is the greatest pool player, it is just fair
Barry Bonds at 755 2007-03-29 02:15:31 Spring training is almost over and all our eyes will be glued to BarryBonds
’ pursuit of Hank Aaron’s homerun record. This is probably the most sacred record in all of sports. Bonds, with with 734 homeruns, needs 21 to tie the all-time home run king Aaron that stands at 755.
Barry Bonds
holds a number of Major League Baseball records, including the most home runs in a single season set in 2001 with 73. He homered 26 last year with 367 at bats in 130 games.
Will he be successful in chasing the record or will his age at 41 catches and denies him the goal? He has been slowed down in the couple of years because of injury. He is a DH against the American Leage and sometimes a pinch-hitter to utilize his energy and to avoid him of injury. With his power and precision, nothing would hinder Bonds in attaining 756. Everybody wants to see him break the record despite of all the clouds that covering Bonds in his career.
With this much anticipation, every at bats of Bonds should be sho
Kobe’s off night 2007-03-28 07:42:37 An odd night in Staples Center as the Los Angeles Lakers suffered one of the most embarassing loss from the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies, whose record is worst in the NBA, 18-54 and 6-30 on the road.
Kobe Bryant had a poor shooting night 7-for-26 and scored only 23. He started it well by scoring the first seven points of the Lakers. The signed of Kobe’s off night was when he missed two consecutive free-throws which rarely occur.
The Grizzlies won despite playing without, Damon Stoudamire, Chucky Atkins and Mike Miller. It’s hard to believe, even the Lakers fan were some sort of shocked of their teams performance.
Lamar Odom didn’t even made a field goal until the last six minutes of the fourth quarter and was in foul trouble the whole game. They had plenty of turnovers which the Grizzlies capitalized.
It’s a forgettable night for all the Lakers fans.
Replay in NFL, does it make the difference? 2007-03-28 01:19:26 League owners Tuesday voted 30-2 to make the video replay a permanent officiating tool.
Instant replay is accepted as a part of the game. It makes some plays be reviewed to get the right call. In the current system, instant replay is used when a coach’s challenges a play which would be in their advantage if it overturn by the referee. Also it is being used in the last two minutes of each half.
To make the right call of the play. This is the objective but sometimes it is clear in one of the plays that the football is fumbled before one of the knees touches the ground yet the official says that the knee hit the ground first. It happens so many times in a season that the referee always makes the wrong judgement.
The League owners voted for the instant replay for money. Ninety seconds of review in the booth boasts up the revenue in television by putting ads. sometimes the review takes too long as the official looks all the angles.
Instant replay is very important. It corrects human e Read more:difference
Spurs smell playoffs 2007-03-27 07:15:27 The Dallas Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns are enjoying the spotlight as the top two teams in the NBA as they are unsteadying their opponents in spectacular fashions but here comes the San Antotio Spurs
moving quietly to the playoff atmosphere.
With Tim Duncan in the low posts, Manu Ginobli in the wing, and Tony Parker’s speed, the Spurs will be the team to beat. Their chemistry catapults every game as the playoff gets nearer. Their defense is suffocating as ever.
This team knows how to be there and how to win. They are experienced in crunch time with complete pieces on the floor.
We are about to see a gigantic collision of the powers of the West if the Spurs meets the Mavericks in the playoff most probably in the Western Conference Finals.
My Major League pick 2007-03-27 04:47:32 There are seven teams which won the World Series in the same number of years. After the dominance of the New York Yankees which was ended by the Arizona Diamonbacks in that nerve-wracking 7th game in 2001, no team has the staying power to repeat.
Will there be a new World Series champion aside from the Yankees, Diamondbacks, Angels, Marlins, Redsox, White Sox, and the defending champion Cardinals? Which of these teams will emerge as formidable contender?
I had picked this team every year and I was dead wrong. This time I am going to select them again to win the World Series– The New York Yankees!
The New York Yankees will win this time because they are hungrier than ever. Their starvation is about to burst and the players can’t bear it anymore.
We will expect Alex Rodriguez to come out of the “sandbox” in the playoff this time. We will never negate the Jeter factor which will deliver when the game is on the line. Furthermore, Andy Pettitte, who won four Word S Read more:League

Kobe Bryant’s 50-plus in four 2007-03-27 02:59:58 He is in his prime. He is considered the best player in the NBA. He is in scoring spree in the last five games scoring 50-plus points in four consecutive games but failed to do so Sunday night against the Golden State Warriors getting only 43 points.
Kobe’s is in a different level of the game scoring in every areas of the floor, inside and outside, and even jumping spectacular shots with two opposing players in front of him, sometimes three.
Kobe Bryant
had accomplished what Michael Jordan didn’t do. His lethal weapons of high percentage shooting in the field and in the free throw lines combined with his creativity in the air enabled him to scored such points unimaginable.
There are more games to be played this season and expect for more 50-plus games from Kobe. Read more:Kobe Bryant
The greatest stage in Tour de France 2007-03-31 18:57:26 I have been thinking of something to write about Tour de France
lately but I don’t know where to start. It would be great if I will begin with the greatest stage ever in the 21st century which etched in the minds of millions.
Stage 15, Bagneres-de-Bigorre - Luz-Ardiden. A gruelling stage where Lance Armstrong was only ahead with less than 30 seconds over Yan Ulrich and Alexander Vinykorov.
There were some tense moments when Ullrich distanced Armstrong on the penultimate climb, the Col du Tourmalet, which Armstrong tactically recover.
In the ascent to Luz Ardiden a spectator with the yellow purse knocked Armstrong down and took down Iban Mayo who was behind him. Ulrich had to swerve to avoid the crash.
Fuelled by adrenalin and with fire in his eyes, Lance Armstrong attacked again and distanced himself agains Ulrich.
Eventually Armstrong won the stage that gave him 1 minute and 15 seconds going to the individual time trial which Ulrich dominates Armstrong in the first individual ti
NBA’s MVP race 2007-03-31 02:49:24 Will Steve Nash get his third trophy? Or will Dirk Nowitzky snatch away from Nash?
As the NBA
comes to the end of the regular season, Nash and Nowitzki are the top contenders in one of the most coveted awards, the Most Valuable Player, in which there is no tie. Behind their tails is the lingering Kobe Bryant whose amazing performances this year is the four consecutive 50-plus games that only Wilt Chamberlain had accomplished in the history of the league.
Why Steve Nash? Nash always makes his team better by spreading the floor and finding the open man. His instinct of the game gives him the edge as he distributes to his teammates. Numbers: points per-game, 18.9; rebounds per-game, 3.4; assists per-game, 11.5.
Why Dirk Nowitzki? His leadership in the floor is dramatically improved. He has become aggressive in driving to the basket and his rebounding is near to 10. His flexibility on the floor keeps his team winning. Numbers: points per-game, 24.9; rebounds per-game, 9.3; assists per-gam
The Lakers drown the Kings 2007-04-02 10:50:21 The old days were gone. The rivalry of the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings will be missed by many. Three years ago these were the top two teams in the NBA but now they are even struggling to get in the playoff.
Though the Lakers and the Kings are different teams now, the atmosphere of excitement and anticipation is still alive.
Sunday night, Kobe Bryant scored only 19 points. Yet the LA Lakers beat the Sacramento Kings in a balance scoring game.
Bryant was content as a facilitator dishing off 13 assists to his teammates. Maurice Evans scored 21 points to lead six Lakers in double figures. Walton had 18, Andrew Bynum 14, Smush Parker 13, and Brown 10.
It was a nip-and-tuck battle in the first half as the Kings tried to defend blue paint where they got pounded the whole game. The Lakers tightened up their defense and went on to 12-0 run to extricate themselves from the Kings.
Ron Artest led the Kings with 26 points and Kevin Martin had 23. Mike Bibby had an off night making onl Read more:drown
The Year of the Phoenix Suns? 2007-04-02 03:39:37 If the NBA is similar to the college basketball in which a team has to play in a knock-out system, the Phoenix
Suns most likely will grab the NBA championship.
The best-of-seven series in the playoff will enable their opponent to adjust and exploit their weaknesses. There’s never been a team in the last 15 years to win a title with a high-powered offense. Defense always wins.
But everything under the sun has it’s own time. Is this Phoenix’s year?
There’s a way to look ahead if the Suns will definitely celebrate come June. To have a glimpse of their future journey, we need to measure their enemies.
In the Western Conference, the Suns has to beat at least one or two of these powerhouse teams, Dallas and San Antonio.
Sunday night, with Leandro Barbosa leading the big scorers with 29 points, the Suns overshadowed the the Mavericks for the second time in 18 days, 126-104. Steve Nash had 23 points and 11 assists and Amare Stoudemire contributed 24 points. Shaw Marion
Buckeyes face Gators 2007-04-01 05:31:19 The Ohio Stated defeated Georgetown through the leadership of Mike Conley who finished with 15 points, six assists and five rebounds.
The matchup between Oden and Hibbert wasn’t even a factor because of foul trouble. Oden was benched three minutes into the game but eventually scored 13 points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes of playing time.
Hibbert was great also. He scored 19 points, had six rebounds and one blocked shot in 24 minutes for the Hoyas.
While the Gators
and their coach has one win away from a second straight championship, trouncing the Bruins 76-66. The heroics of Corey Brewer with 19 points, 16 from Chris Richard and 14 from Lee Humprey.
The National Championship game will be played on Monday. Florida will become the first team to go back-to-back since Duke in 1992 with the same starting five.
Few months ago we witnessed the same schools in the NCAA football championship, will the Buckeyes get a revenge?

Why the Mavericks will not go all the way? 2007-04-03 07:48:47 The Mavericks
are dominating the NBA’s regular season, 61-12 record with nine more games left. With their great defense and well-balanced starters, depth bench players, and the emergence of Dirk Nowitzki as their leader, I believe they will not win it all.
Here are my three big reasons:
1. The quality of teams in the Western Conference. Utah Jazz or Houston Rockets in the second round? The Mavericks will be having a difficult series whichever is going to come out from these potent four and five teams. The Jazz and the Rockets are known for their defense. Dallas will win but it will take a lot from them going to the next round.
2. The San Antonio Spurs. If it weren’t for the flawed rankings which they altered lately, the Spurs would have beaten the Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals last year instead of losing in the semi-finals. The Tim Duncan era still exists with the collaboration of Ginobli and Parker.
3. Lack of crunch all-around player. By watching the Dallas a

the favorite to win.
Tiger Woods who won three of the last six Masters will again display his poise and creativity against the rest of the field including the defending champion Phil Mickelson.
Almost every given tournament that Tiger participates, most of us always ask the question, “Tiger or the rest of the field”. In Majors, absolutely high percetage will pick Tiger because these are the tournaments that he loves.
I’ll pick Tiger Woods this time against all the players in the field. Though I’ll expect Phil Mickelson and Vijay Sing lurking at his back. Tiger loves The Masters more than any majors. I will be seeing him Sunday wearing the green jacket! Read more:Field
Around the NBA 2007-04-05 04:57:58 Chicago Bulls 106, Detroit Pistons 88
Kirk Hinrich scored 29 points and eight assists enroute to a victory of the Chicago Bulls over the Detroit Pistons. The Bulls managed a win without Ben Wallace with sinus inflammation.
Philadelphia 76ers 92, New York Knicks 90
Andre Iguodala blocked Stephon Marbury’s potential winning 3-point basket, giving the Philadelphia 76ers a 92-90 victory over the New York Knicks. Knicks hope is winding down losing their third straight.

Who Wants To Be No. 6? 2007-04-04 07:51:17 In the Western Conference several teams are jockeying for a playoff spot. Just as they wanted to be in the postseason, these teams are also looking at the first round and I believe they don’t want to land in the sixth spot.
The Denver which just get past the Lakers, 111-105, is now one game ahead of the Clippers that are in the eight place. To make it clearer here is the current standing:
6th- LA Lakers
7th- Denver Nuggets 1.5 GB
8th- LA Clippers 2.5 GB
9th- GS Warriors 4.0 GB
10th- NO Hornets 5.0 GB
If I were one of these teams, I will in any means avoid the sixth place. By glancing at the standings, the Phoenix Suns still holds three games advantage over the San Antonio Spurs with nine games more remaining. It’s just hard to see any switches of spots.
With that in mind, I would rather play the Suns than the Spurs. That’s probably what the Lakers, Nuggets, and Clippers are eyeing for.
Spurs topple Suns 2007-04-06 07:02:39 Tony Parker scored 35 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs
in a 92-85 victory over the high scoring Phoenix Suns.
The Spurs defense clamped down the number one offense in the NBA by stopping Steve Nash’s penetration to the basket and dishing out to his teammates. Tim Duncan had 22 points with five blocked shots and intimidated the supposed to be easy baskets of the Suns.
Suns was shutdown beyond the arc as the Spurs aggressively covered and challenged the three point shots allowing the Suns to make two of their 11 shots.
Michael Finley added 19 points while Manu Ginobli had seven. Ginoblis quickness in defending Barbosa and sometimes Nash was effective.
Amare Stoudamire garnered 15 points and 14 rebouds. He was guarded well by Duncan.
The Spurs inched closer to the Suns for the second spot in the Western Conferencs standing. Homecourt advantage is at stake.
Heat Outplays Cavaliers, 94-90 in OT 2007-04-06 06:37:57 Without Dwayne Wade, the Miami Heat proved once again that they can win. Shaquille O’Neal and Antoine Walker scored 20 points apiece to lead their team get past the Cleveland Cavaliers, 94-90.
Miami’s victory assured them of a spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs while the Cavaliers dropped from second to fifth place.
A 11-0 run by the Cavaliers forced the game into overtime but came short in the extra five minutes.
Lebron Jame scored 35 points with nine rebounds and five assists but not enough as Kapono hit a three-pointer with 1:23 left to give the Heat 88-87.
Miami’ vulnerability to close a game is obvious. They need Dwayne Wade in the crucial possessions of the game.

Tiger is just one stroke behind! 2007-04-08 06:05:54 I was away for just a moment. I looked at the leaderboard and Stuart Appleby is two over par?
I was really shocked! Thought Apppleby will be on the red score the whole day. At least he should have two strokes lead over Tiger Woods. AP says it,
Stuart Appleby emerged as the leader despite a triple bogey on the 17th hole with a tee shot into the bunker guarding the seventh green, a wedge into a bunker on the hole he was playing and three putts. Compared with other train wrecks, that was tame.
That’s excruciating for Appleby. He was the only player that’s under par until the 17th hole.
Now the eyes of the Tiger are looking for a green jacket Sunday. He will glimpse at the scoreboard everytime. The uglier the weather, the more advantageous is Tiger Woods.
I’ll wait to see Phil Mickelson giving the green jacket to Tiger Sunday afternoon. Read more:behind
