All My Bases Are Covered For Fat Loss!
2008-09-02 23:27:00
I am opposed to going to GNC and spending hundreds of dollars on supplements that promise you the moon, but there are a couple that I do use. Supplement means to make up for a deficiency and that is why I take 2 in particular. Whey Protein. I understand you are supposed to eat protein with every meal if you want to achieve that lean body, but sometimes that is difficult for me. I love eating le

Preparation Equals Fat Loss!
2008-09-01 21:09:00
Starting tomorrow I am going to have to focus on my preparation in order to achieve my weight loss goals. Tomorrow the new semester begins for law school. I work M-F from 8:30 to 5, go to school M-Th from 6 to 9, and then study from the time I get home until about 11:30. I will have to have all my meals planned out if I'm going to be successful. Last semester I probably gained 20lbs from eating l

My First Week in Review
2008-08-31 22:41:00
Well I'm 7 days into my diet and exercise plan and although I don't think I look any better I definitely feel better. My body feels cleaner if that makes any sense. When I used to eat it felt like it lingered for hours, but now when I eat about an hour later I feel empty and clean. Eating 6 small healthy meal has really cranked up my metabolism. I'm confident that this will equal fat loss. The

1st Week Photos
2008-08-30 19:16:00
I've looked at myself a hundred times in the mirror and I knew I looked bad but looking at pictures of myself are even worse. I decided to take some pictures to chart my progress and for motivation. I took these today so my plan is to take another set one month from now which will be September 30th. Hopefully in the next set there will be a little less sagging going on. I have a lot of work ahead

Holiday Weekends are My Pitfall!!
2008-08-29 23:01:00
Weekends are where in the past my previous diet attempts have all died. I can go to work and school all week and stay as straight as an arrow when it comes to my diet and exercise plan. My previous fitness attempts have all died between Friday-Sunday. So to be successful this go around I have to ask myself why and I can come up with 2 reasons.I'm Bored. The first reason I think I blow my diet on t

Why Weight Watchers Sucks!
2008-08-28 21:42:00
Why on earth would I go to Weight Watchers and pay them money for them to tell me what I already know. I have bad eating habits and I don't exercise nearly enough. They will tell me what foods I need to eat and how much exercise I should be doing. Does anyone really need an expert to tell them they should put down the Big Mac and pick up the chicken breast? Does anyone really need to be told the

Check My Ego at the Door of the Gym
2008-08-27 22:14:00
Today was my 2nd day working out and so far its been a pride swallowing experience. You see 6 weeks ago I previously tried to get my weight loss plan under way and I failed. I failed because I went too hard too fast and inflamed every joint in my body. I had to quit because I couldn't walk or bend over without looking like a person twice my age. My wife actually had to cut the grass for entire mon

My Grocery List for Fat Loss
2008-08-27 16:40:00
For my first week on my weight loss plan I tried to keep my Food Plan simple. Down the road when I'm sick of eating BBQ chicken breast I'll look for additional recipes and food sources. For my protein sources I bought chicken breast, flank steak, Jennie-O turkey burger and brats, and Protein Shakes. For Carbs I bought wheat pasta, wheat bread and wheat buns. I bought a variety of frozen vegetables

This is the Begining
2008-08-26 18:42:00
I am fat and I need to change. That's the bottom line. I am 31 and I weigh 293.5 lbs and feel like a train wreck. My back hurts, my knees ache, and every time I move faster than a snail I can't stop sweating and breathing heavy. So this week I made a decision to change but I'm not going to do it like everyone else. I'm not going to buy a book on the latest and greatest way to loose weight, or bu

Want to Lose Weight? Cut the Grass!
2008-09-21 21:08:00
Today, I wasn't scheduled to workout at the gym but after I got done mowing the grass I felt like it was! I have a standard push mower and usually I leisurely push it at a slow pace. Today I tried something a little different. I put a little getty up in the lawn mowing ritual we all probably hate. I pushed that damn thing about as fast as I possibly could. My neighbors probably thought I was on s

Eat At Your Own Risk!
2008-09-21 01:45:00
I read an interesting article today where a law firm is suing Applebee's and Weight Watchers. Anyone who has been to Applebee's has probably seen that part of the menu. Well apparently a lab did some testing on the Weight Watcher's selections and found that some of the items contain up 3 times more fat than the menu showed. This is just another reason not to trust companies and their weight loss p

Weight Loss and Law School
2008-09-19 20:21:00
Monday I will be jumping on the scale again to see how much weight I have lost in the past 2 weeks but there's another reason why Monday will be a big day for me. Three weeks ago I finished my first semester of Law school and Monday is the deadline for our grades to be posted. Let me tell you, waiting for Law School grades are 10 times more nerve racking than jumping on a scale. Its rough because

My Road Map to Weight Loss and Muscle
2008-09-17 21:56:00
After I got my workout in this morning I started to think about where I want my workouts to go from here. I mean if you want to lose weight shouldn't you have a road map so you know where you are going? Currently I am still in a workout plan that I would classify as a beginner program. I get on the treadmill for 20 mins and have been gradually increasing the speed and incline to make things more c

Obesity and Grocery Buggies
2008-09-16 23:40:00
I realize I may sound like a jerk for bringing this topic up, but so be it. Theres a million studies I'm sure you've all read stating that America is get more obese by the year. We all know it's happening and why it's happening. I made a connection last weekend at the grocery store and wonder if anybody else noticed the growing trend. It seems when you go to the grocery store the isles are being o

Fat Loss: A Battle of Good vs Evil!
2008-09-15 22:11:00
Had a little road bump today to start the week off wrong. I shouldn’t call it a road bump because that makes it sound like it was out of my control. This was a road block that I created myself but I did what I had to do to make things right. I had my alarm clock set for 5:30 this morning so I could wake up to work out. I remember it going off, but apparently I turned it off and kept sleeping unt

Week 3 Fat Loss Review
2008-09-14 21:54:00
Week 3 went fairly smooth and mishap free for me. I continued to stay strong with my diet and never fell off the wagon. I had a good weekend which in my opinion is the biggest stumbling block of a diet. The old Joe used to love ordering a pizza on Friday or Saturday night. The one thing I discovered this week is Fat Free/Sugar Free Jello Pudding. It contains 70 calories per serving after you mix

Are Choclate Chip Cookies Healthy?
2008-09-14 00:07:00
Today I was reading the sales ad for the local grocery store I shop at and I seen Chips Ahoy 100 Calorie Packs. It got me thinking so I did a little research on the Nabisco Website. The Package says it is a sensible solution and that it is "better for you, made simple" and I'd like to know a sensible solution to what? I looked at the nutritional values and they are identical to buying the standard

Say No to Fitness Magazines!
2008-09-13 00:10:00
A couple weeks ago I bought a copy of Muscle & Fitness when I was grocery shopping. I was in line at the check out and seen it so I said "what the hell" and bought it. Because I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to read it until tonight. I read through it and I couldn't help but notice it was jammed with supplement advertisements. Some of them even appeared to be articles until you read

My Weight Loss Mindset
2008-09-11 23:29:00
So as usual this morning I was in a hurry. I woke up at 6:00, went to the gym, took a shower, ate breakfast, packed my meals and school books and shot out the door for work at 8:00. What I didn't realize until I was in the parking lot is that I forgot my bag of food! This is a nightmare because now I have to start thinking about how I am still going to eat healthy by eating out today. The old Joe

Is Alli Worth It?
2008-09-10 21:53:00
If aliens were flying around in their flying saucers and were studying human beings they would conclude we are freakin nuts. All they have to do is look at diet pills to come up with that opinion. Look at the weight loss pill Alli and you'll think the same thing. I'm sure you have seen it at the local Wal Mart or Target. It claims to help accelerate fat loss and shows some pretty promising stats w

My 3 Diet Rules For Weight Loss
2008-09-09 20:38:00
I've said from my first post on this blog I am going to use a common sense approach to loosing weight. When I go on other message boards and websites I see the same questions over and over again. How many calories should I eat? What foods are good for weight loss? How many carbs should I eat? Whats the best diet for fat loss? And on everyone of these websites there are different answers ranging fro

I Lost 9.5 pounds in 2 weeks!!
2008-09-08 06:54:00
I jumped on the scale this morning and it read 284 which means I lost 9.5 pounds in 2 weeks! Not that I don't feel better I just didn't think I would see that much weight loss in 2 weeks. From my experience I have always posted big numbers the first couple weeks I start a weight loss plan and then it tapers off into that 2lbs/week range. This makes everything worth it, all the hard work and disc

How many pounds will I lose?
2008-09-07 22:52:00
Tomorrow is the big day. In the morning I will hop on the scale and see how much weight I have lost since beginning the program. 2 weeks ago I weighed in at 293.5 so I am hoping to see the scale show a weight below 290. My unofficial goal of the program is for me to steadily lose 2lbs per week. I'm a little nervous because I have stayed true to my diet all of this time. I would find it hard to

I'll Give Myself a B- for my Weight Loss Plan Today!
2008-09-06 22:33:00
Today was a challenging day for me as I described in yesterdays post. I wasn't going to be able to follow my usual eating routine. Generally I eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day, but today with my unusual schedule I ate 2 protein bars, 2 protein shakes and a grilled chicken salad for dinner. I like to eat whole food 90 percent of the time but I had to make an exception today. After I ate dinner I to

Fat People Can't Hit Curve Balls!
2008-09-05 23:14:00
Any big league baseball player can hit a fast ball, only an All Star can hit whatever pitch is thrown to him. The same thing can be said for weight loss goals. Anybody can loose weight on a perfect day, but as we all now there are very few perfect days. Tomorrow for me is not going to be one of those perfect days. Tomorrow I volunteered to work at an event my firm is participating in and for 12 ho

Using a Food Diary For Fat Loss
2008-09-04 22:35:00
I read a pretty interesting article in USA Today regarding the impact keeping a food diary can have on your weight loss goals. The study stated that the people that kept a diary on average lost 18 lbs where the ones who didn't lost 9 lbs. I get the logic because I think over the course of a busy day we can sometimes forget just how many calories we consumed. With the Diary you can take a look at a

Early Bird Gets the Worm in Weight Loss
2008-09-04 00:06:00
Last week when I first started going to the gym I was going right after work which was around 6 pm. I felt pretty good but this week I had to change my workout time because I have class in the evening. I now wake up and workout before I go to work and man I noticed a big difference in the way I felt for the rest of the morning and the afternoon. It really felt like I was in a higher gear all day.

Sometimes Life Happens!
2008-10-08 22:06:00
This week I hit my first major stumbling block in my weight loss and fitness plan. All this week I have had to take care of some personal business which has taken up the little free time I have. So I have been working, going to school, studying, taking care of this little problem, and still trying to get a few hours of sleep at night. I got to tell you my stress levels are at an all time high and

5 More Pounds Lost!
2008-10-06 21:17:00
I jumped on the scale today and it read 273lbs which would be 5 lbs from the last time I weighed in. That is 20lbs total weight loss since I started my plan 6 weeks ago. I am very happy because 20lbs seems like a big number in a short amount of time. All the healthy food I have eaten and all the trips to the gym are paying off. I've hit a point that now I can't stop day dreaming about what I'll

Taking My Workouts to the Next Level
2008-10-05 20:41:00
I've officially completed 6 weeks of my weight loss and fitness plan. I'm happy with my results but its time to crank up the intensity. I've been doing a light workout consisting of circuit training with machines and getting on the treadmill for 25 mins. For my circuit training I've been doing sets in the 12-15 rep range. I had to start small like this because I was so out of shape and over weight
