Ah Boy @ STOMP.
2006-10-22 16:24:00
I meant for this to appear on the Sunday Times, didn't know it came out on STOMP instead.Direct LinkTo Quote:"Ah Boy's coming to 6 by the end of this year, and is toilet-trained, although he still intentionally does his business around, probably as a sign of male dominance. He adores being cradled in my arms like this, and the neighbours have mistaken him for a dog or cat because of his size. He has had a litter of 7 rabbits, but sadly, he has already outlived them." Sent in by Cheah Chu Wen And I dug up the closet, to find the neo-print sized polariod shot I took of them, scanned it, and placed it here:The picture has discoloured but I'll miss them alot.

Yay! I got 'hate-mail'!To Quote:8. And Hades did reply, 'Show me a sign Lord. Let me know what to write about'.9. And God did shew him Xiaxue's blog, and the blog of Metrosexual Me The website of a hundred different fat emo kids did the Lord shew Hades.10. Hades did remark, 'Holy jumping jackshit!' and felt a great sadness and remarked, 'I shalt do what I must to rid these fevered egos that taint our collective unconscious (tm. Bill Hicks). Let me at 'em Lord!"I'm awfully flattered!Direct Link.

Run. Study. Rabbit.
2006-10-22 10:44:00
With the semester's heavy load, all I can manage is runs on saturday and sunday, with the weekdays just for gym. I'm still running pretty well I guess - no one has overtaken me on the tracks so far.Gosh I love the way the veins pop out!On another side of things, I'm annoyed by the tonnes of people who actually think I enjoy studying. How can? Its the most taxing and most non-rewarding period of my life. I don't enjoy having my free time consumed by tutorials, projects, labs, and preparing for tests. I don't like having Ah Boy neglected. I've known him since 2000, seen him grow from a tiny runt smaller than my palm to a full-sized (middle age) adult whose body is now longer than my whole forearm. Yet, everyday, he sees me, and lunges forward towards me when he senses that I'm going to give him his backrub. He grunts, he squeaks, he snorts - he's terribly happy when I do so. I don't wish to neglect him - rabbits don't live as long as humans do. I'm studying hard because, well,

Internship.
2006-10-15 17:05:00
Internship, in my opinion, involves work at say, an engineering firm, or as a marketing firm if you're in the study of businesses. Was over at InternSG when I saw this:The listings were good, and plenty - there were interns needed at oil companies, engineering firms, and research wings. I found 2 that were out of place, imo:These two doesn't seem too intern-like to me.

Old School Methodology.
2006-10-15 05:48:00
I'm currently a Year 2 Electrical Engineering student at NUS - which means I'm fresh out of the base-knowledge modules like Math and Physics and into the real, hard stuff. However, for certain modules, a new ruling has come upon us from the upper management that solutions would not be uploaded onto the virtual workbin for the students, even after all of us have gone through the tutorials in class. Their reasoning was that students would end up not doing the tutorials before class, and it would defeat the purpose. I agree with them on this: we should all go to tutorials. But a tutorial is only 45 minutes long, and by the time the class is over, we have to jostle for the attention of the tutors to answer our questions. Our classes are often packed so tight that we might not have the chance to stay after class. Some of us turn to skipping proper meals or turn up at the next lesson later, or perhaps not even going for it at all. On the flip side, some heck care and just photocopy answers

There hasn't been much opportunities for me to blog recently - 1 test soon, 4 tutorials behind time, a lab that will take 1.5 days, and lots of catching up.I'm still receiving a steady flow of traffic - its very heartwarming, many thanks to you all!Being generous, I shall bestow upon you, a gift, scoured from the depths of the life sciences lab:Wrinkled wing fruitfly mutant, seen through the dissecting microscope - cool!

Nerd Fest.
2006-10-07 16:28:00
There's something going on with the recent batches of students in Engineering, NUS. I've constantly made checks with my seniors, and often, they get pretty perturbed at how the junior batches mug. For instance, my batch is probably the first batch to have seen so many students studying during the semesters. Then there's always a good 30min wait to queue up to ask the tutor/lecturer questions after the lecture/tutorial. I can hardly ever get to them to clarify any doubts. Perhaps I shall just annoy everyone and ask every single thing I need to ask in class, without hesitation. The last I heard, some students don't even charge their handphones till every 5 days. That's definitely a sign of no-life. I don't have one too, besides running ang gym, but mine lasts to a max of 3 days. 5 days seems like they don't ever sms at all. Scary. And I've heard some complaining how 'a great waste of time' it is to sit in the computer lab for just under an hour whilst waiting for the next lesson.

Long Haired Girls.
2006-10-23 15:47:00
Alot of my male friends have a undeniable preference for ladies for long hair than those with short hair - I think this stems from the common 'preference' that ladies should be demure, sweet, and somewhat feminine.I like ladies for the overall package - hair is just an adornment, imo. But there's no denying that a long hair makes a lady more feminine, because it 'softens' her features. But I don't like these kind of 'long hair-ed' ladies. You leh?

Somehow, I think by wearing it, I'm ruining my chances with the ladies.Apart from the men stuff, every other thing is catered for the ladies. So both genders have a reason to pop by.

Rude University Student.
2006-11-11 12:07:00
Was at Engineering E2's computer lab when I saw a student getting too comfortable with himself in front of me:I think he has conveniently chosen not to realize that his feet will foul the seat he's in. As well as not realizing that his bag effectively taken up a computer space. As well as his slippers. And his G2000 bag.Hope he doesn't come box me in school.

Work Life V.s. Academia
2006-11-24 10:43:00
About every working adult friend I know has repeatedly told me that school life is carefree, fun, and working life is alot much worse. Some describe it as horrid, tiring, busy, and hectic. And as always I have repeatedly refuse to believe them, because I've a fair share of engineering graduates having alot more free time and generally more happy than they were back as undergrads. Lets see, this sem, I averaged 5 hours a sleep a day, of which, from I'm up at 630am, to get to school at 8am, which then ends at 4pm on average. That puts me home at around 5pm, and a short gym session/run and dinner, that starts me at around 630pm. Then there's an average of 6+2+2 labs in 14 weeks, with 7 tests, and several projects. That puts me to my study desk from say, 630pm till a good 12.30-1.45am. And its 630am rousing again the next day. On the other hand, I may have very little work experience (close to none, by most standards), but so far, I've enjoyed the freedom that work has provided. Work (

Holiday Update.
2006-12-16 17:40:00
A few days ago me and TRN headed to Vivocity for dinner - and we had Spizza:The salad (Superbo) didn't fare well at all - the calamari was unfresh, almost to the point of being stale. But the pizza (Victoria) was very, very good. For $16 a pizza, I won't be heading to Pizza Hut any more. I can now list pizza appreciation as a hobby in resumes and Friendster!Victoria's got a remarkably (and noticeably) thin crust, a stark contrast to Pizza Hut's lao hong crust that tastes like bread edges. Apart from that, I've managed to upgrade the RAM in my old, aging laptop, making it 1GB from its previous 256MB.And I no longer have to tolerate hangs when I open a PDF file whilst Firefox is running! That means I can study harder and faster. And we were at Marina Centre when we saw Janice Fang! And she looks so lovely in person:We shook some hands, and parted. It felt a tad weird running into people you read about in blogs, but it sure was fun though.

Rainy Post
2006-12-19 08:38:00
I finally gathered the courage to get my ears pierced. It wasn't the pain or needle that scared me, it was the notion of something embedded in your flesh that did. But what they say is true - it doesn't hurt a bit. No blood, no pain, no irritation. That's one girly stud. For a whole month.Apart from that, the rain's been getting in the way of late. Didn't have much of a chance to get out the week after the exams, and now that I'm slightly more freed up, the rain's in the way of things. I haven't been to Chinatown and Sentosa yet. It may be rainy, but the ladies are still looking as fine as ever. There isn't much of an appeal to hang around Orchard anymore - its getting stale. Unless I'm out hunting for apparel, I don't see much of a reason to head there. Vivocity's just another Marina South, in my opinion. I haven't heard any of my friends said anything nice about it yet. But if you're willing to pay for bags, you might want to try Project Blood Brothers. Go in, and look a
