mother nature
2006-10-21 02:50:47
I don't believe in God, not in the conventional sense anyway. I believe in something, I've yet to really define it though. We all spend our lives searching for that one 'something' that rings true to us on a deep level. There are a few words that come to mind that are apt for my basic beliefs. Energy. Universe. Mother Nature. They would all suffice I suppose. There would be some of you thinking that is God. That this is how God speaks to me. I would disagree, but that is a discussion for another day! I do believe in the amazing power of Mother Nature. I didn't realise how true this was until I was pregnant. To this day I am totally amazed that I created life without instructions, or a manual. I don't mean the mechanics of actually falling pregnant, I mean the rest of it. I didn't consciously sit down and think "Oh it's time to grow a kidn

stonehenge
2006-10-18 09:41:01
According to this news article, Stonehenge may just be considered a wonder of the world before long. Stonehenge has always fascinated me, and I love reading about the many different theories regarding just what it is. Personally I like to think it was erected by a bunch of drunk and/or stoned people who sat around a bonfire at a dull party one Saturday evening, and thought - "wouldn't it be funny to put something totally useless up here and then in thousands of years they'll wonder what the fuck it is!" p.s. Hey thanks to speedy for pointing out that I didn't have my brain plugged in when I read this article.....I must have left it under my pillow or something :)

ok, heres the pics :)
2006-10-18 08:18:53
Ok, here is two pics of the new do...I hate both pics, but I hate nearly all photos of myself so I figured what the heck! IF on the off chance I manage to get a better one taken I may post it, but then again, maybe not..hehehe These pics really don't show the colors very well!! Real post coming later on tonight...just as soon as something inspires me!

New look
2006-10-16 13:53:05
Ok, seeing as how I've got the new look, the new life and soon to be a new theme around here, I also did a new avatar of myself...it's still a southpark version of me, but I've made a few changes to reflect the new circumstances!! Anyway, heres the new version. This is the large version so you get the full impact....see the colors in the hair there? They aren't far off the mark, placement might be a little skewiff but you get the idea. The change in mouth reflects the fact that I'm utilising my numerous lip liners and lipsticks a little more often, and the clothing is more summerlike seeing as how I'm hardly wearing any these days in comparison to a few weeks ago...well as much as you can get with a bloody southpark character generator! Still got the fags, and of course the coffee. No true interpretation of me would be complete without the coffee :)

Top ten things I want to do before I die..
2006-10-15 08:59:19
Ok, mum went to bingo this afternoon and she wanted me to do this before she came home...she did one this morning which you can see here. Anyway, heres a few things I would love to do or achieve before I depart this world: Get a degree in something that is totally useless in the workplace - like philosophy Find my passion, that one thing that would make me think I was living that saying "Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life" I want to find what it is I love. I've got it narrowed down to a couple of things....Photography, Coffee House/Jazz Club/Piano bar all rolled into one, working with children or horseriding...maybe something that could combine several of these things.. Watch Zoe have children of her own so I can see her experience the amazing journey of motherhood Go on a cruise...

this would NEVER happen in Australia
2006-10-14 04:39:25
Go check out this article... I nearly pissed myself laughing when I read this. I could NEVER imagine something like this being allowed in Australia . I mean this is the country that will bet on two cockroaches running across the bar at the local outback pub. We'll bet on ANYTHING. To watch horses running round without being able to 'make it interesting' would start riots that even a nude photo of our esteemed Prime Minister in a compromising position with a colleague wouldn't. I don't understand why you would start the races BEFORE you could bet on them. Isn't that kinda like showing an ice cream shop to someone but not letting them buy? It's just cruel.

a guest posting..
2006-10-23 02:13:33
I have a friend who needed somewhere other than her own blog to vent, so I offered her my place. My thoughts are with you darl, but you already know that don't you? I am in a situation where I am very very in love with a guy and I THINK he loves me too but the thing is we live so far away from each other. He and I used to talk several times a day everyday until just recently. Now he doesn't seem to have the time to talk to me, though when he does he says all the right things. But then we goes days without talking or seeing each other and there is no reason from him why he doesn't answer his phone. I don't even bother calling anymore because I know it's a wasted effort, but then I am left sitting here wondering what exactly is going on. Why can he not just tell me if there is someone else involved? Why can he not tell me what is going on in his life to make him so distant? All

"gayism"
2006-10-24 12:56:52
This country as a whole is fairly homophobic. Our laws say so, our politicians say so and our censorship says so. Imagine my surprise when I came across this article then. Unfortunately I'm a little cynical about it actually happening, or even that it would happen for the right reasons. I'm a firm believer in equality for all. And that includes the gay community. Especially couples. The one area that I'm surprised wasn't mentioned in the above article is the welfare system. Currently my friend and his partner can claim full benefits from the government as their relationship is not recognised. So the government are doing themselves out of money the way I see it! If they were in a hetrosexual relationship, they would each receive less money each fortnight if they were claiming it. Partners income would be taken into account and one is working. As it stands, they would both be en

Usually when I'm writing a post, I have most of written in my head before I even start. This time I'm going to try something different, just for the heck of it! I'm going to sit here and just write what I'm thinking. About anything, and everything, or maybe nothing at all! We'll see how, and where, it goes shall we? ****** Zoe has been a little, shall we say, testy lately. And it's getting to ridiculous stage. I guess I've been letting her get away with a few things and making excuses because of all the changes. She has slowly been getting worse for awhile now and it's time to put an end to it. Unfortunately the only thing that works at times like this is to totally come down really hard until she's sorted herself out. Shouldn't be more than a day or two from the reaction I got when letting her know what was happening last night. Time will tell on how effective

shopping centers
2006-10-27 13:25:14
Went shopping this afternoon. Whilst I love the variety that big shopping centers offer with their multitudes of shops, there are a couple of things that really bug me about them. Firstly, when you aren't looking for something in particular, you see hundreds of them. Then when you go looking, you think there is one to be found? Not bloody likely. Today, I went looking for some nail polish. Being the cheapskate that I am when it comes to purchasing items that I may use for a total of 5 minutes once every 3 months, I went looking in those shops that have such an abundance that you'd swear they procreate in the middle of the night. Discount cosmetic stores. However being a fussy turd when it comes to my nails, I went looking for the ones that have the ball bearings in them. Easier to keep them from going all gloopy. Yes thats a real word. Anyone who has left the lid of their nail

chocolate fudge
2006-10-30 11:50:55
Can't post, too busy searching for easy choc fudge recipe with ingredients I can actually buy in this country. It's all the libraries fault. In one of the books Zoe got is a basic recipe for choc fudge, but it totally sucked, and I promised her I would make some so now I have to decide which ones are worth making, and which ones won't go all crystallised and bloody hell there are just so many to choose from...for the love of god can someone help me out here!

my brain is melting
2006-11-01 10:25:09
I seem to be having a dry spell when it comes to writing stuff for you to read. I have a few ideas, but nothing of substance at this point. So heres a quick update on whats been happening in our neck of the woods. Zoe's new school held some celebrations today for it's 90th birthday. Nothing too major seeing as how they held a huge 75th apparently. It was really good to see so many past students come along, gives me more confidence in the school. Her teacher had a little chat with me this morning while I was doing the readers. Seems she has had a chat to the appropriate teacher about getting some extension work for Zoe with her literacy. It was good to hear, I was about a week off having a chat with her about Zoe's reluctance to go to school 1 in 3 mornings because it's boring. She is still being a pain in the butt. Zoe I mean, not

Life's good
2006-11-05 12:46:04
It seems as though I've almost reached everything I was striving for just a short time ago. As of next Friday, the very last piece of my new puzzle will be in place and the next chapter of my life will be well underway. You see Wednesday night is the first night of our Yoga Beginner's class, I've even managed to rope mum and Mel to come along with me for that one :) We are confirmed and rearing to go. Next Friday I have an interview/orientation for that Tafe course I enrolled in. Seems my application was accepted and a letter was sent out on Thursday, which I found out upon ringing to find out WTF was happening and why I hadn't heard anything after two and half weeks. Not sure whether the whole 'letter is in the mail' was just a line, or whether it really was and my timing was pure coincidence. Either way I don't care. The lady I spoke to on the phone made the appointment f

Today is the day!
2006-11-09 23:17:15
I have an appointment with the TAFE today about that course I want to do. I can't wait....this is the last thing I really wanted to do and now I'll be doing it!!! Seems that all the motivation, passion and inspiration that used to help me blog nearly everyday is being channeled into other areas right now as you've probably noticed. I used to use this space as an escape from reality and now the need to do that is far less than it used to be. Not that I lived a pretend life on here, but it's easier to hide from the world, yourself and issues you may just want to not have to think about. I think once I have my whole routine figured out then once again I'll have a set time each day to be here. But until then, I'm thinking that Spilling the Beans will be a little dull. Sorry folks! I do have a couple of posts on the go...one of which I hope to post later on tonight. Of course bei

Ok, I know I promised to do a thought provoking post last night, but to be honest I just couldn't get motivated. It's still on the way, but thought I would update you all on what's been happening around here.....it's all very exciting! I had that interview with TAFE on Friday and learned all about that course I was accepted for in a one on one with one of the teachers. Not only will I be able to do the course full time next year with it being flexible enough that I can still pick up/drop off Zoe to school, and not be penalised if I can't make it because she's sick or something like that, BUT it will automatically qualify me for the subsidised fees. How stupid is this. In order to get the subsidised fees, one must be working within the industry. Now the reason people like myself enrol in these courses is to help gain employment in a field we

Did I ever tell you about...when I found out I was pregnant?
2006-11-13 14:14:19
I'd been feeling a little off for some time, even been to the doctors and had a few tests done, one of those being a pregnancy test. Nothing was found so I continued to just feel like crap. I was tired, grumpy, my digestive system wasn't what it used to be resulting in issues of a kind that I'd never had to deal with before. At one point the doctor was going to check for irritable bowel syndrome! Anyway, I'd just kind of accepted that something wasn't right, but seeing as how we could find nothing I just went on living life. Working, playing and putting on the little pot belly that always arrives just before winter. That was until the bad gas started. There seemed to be no rhyme nor reason to it. I watched what I was eating to see if that was the problem, but nothing seemed to be related. So off I trundle to the doctor. It was getting ridiculous. Lotsa gas inside, but nothing coming

men are sooks!
2006-11-15 05:02:36
According to this report, men mistake the common cold for the flu and take more time to 'recover' than women. But then us ladies have known that for eons haven't we, and now we have some statistical backup. Who needs stats and online surveys to tell us that men are just big sooky lala babies when it comes to being sick. First there is 'having a man's look' - when you can't see something right in front of you, or take a casual glance into a room and claim to have searched high and low for it, now there is 'man flu' where you get to take twice as much time off work, feel sorry for yourself and claim to be the sickest person there ever was, has been, or will be all because their nose is a little runny and they occasionally cough! That right there is why men don't give birth ladies and gentlemen. They'd have one stab at it, never go back or tell their mates how blo

I took some photos today, with my new digital camera (man I'm still smiling over being able to say that!) while waiting for the home delivery ice-cream man to come along our street. I deliberately took one with the intention of turning an ordinary photo into a better one, just to prove to myself that I can indeed take an interesting shot, and that not all the decent ones are the result of pure arse or luck. Raw Photo: After I'd played around with it, but only a little bit:. Now I'm not even close to being able to call myself even an amateur at this point, "interested party" when it comes to photography would probably be more appropriate, but I must say I'm mighty pleased with myself for these! I took the photo with the modified version in mind. I liked the lines, and thought they would look great in black and white,

mchappy day
2006-11-18 06:46:56
Last week, Zoe saw some ads on the telly for McHappy Day and asked what it was, so I told her all about it. So she made an envelope, and wrote a poster asking people to help the sick kids...and put some money in it as a donation. It was her own money that nanny had given to her to do what she wanted with it. It was just gorgeous. She made me promise to take her so that she could give them the envelope and donation and buy a big mac to donate another dollar to the Ronald McDonald House charity. So we did. They loved her present and put the donation in their cans and then stuck her poster up on the wall with the coloring competition entrants. Then she had her face painted. I love that she not only wants to know about charities, and giving, but that she understands that its a good thing to do, AND she wants to do it. She quite often asks for coins to put in the guide dog money boxes

You are invited to dinner...

What do you think of the main course on offer??!! We spent yesterday afternoon at the Museum, and this was one of the illusions they had....isn't it cool! We had a ball. Lots of interactive things to do, and of course with the kids having the attention spans of dead gnats they just ran round to all of them before really taking much notice of what it was trying to teach them! My sister's boyfriend and his 6 year old daughter (of whom I will post a similar pic to the one above as soon as I ask him if it's ok!) took us along as my sister was outta town for a wedding. It was good to see the girls have some fun. In totally unrelated news, Zoe has her first birthday party invitation since being here! Yay! I'm excited for her. Again on a completely different note, I went to the library today and borrowed a book which I feel will contain some blog

choices..
2006-11-21 13:26:58
I'm lucky enough to live in a country where we have the freedom of choice. Combined with the variety of careers, the options that both women, and men, now have in society and the knowledge we possess as a whole, there are now more choices than ever to be made. But is this a good thing? Are we happier people for it? Sometimes I seriously wonder if we are indeed better off. As a women, I now have more choice than ever before. I can choose a career, and in any field in which I'm competent. I have the choice of being a single mother, live in a defacto relationship, or even be the one to ask for a divorce. Heck I can even vote these days! But is the choice complicating things? Can I truly ever be content with what I've got knowing that there is so many other options open to me? What if I do this childcare course, and get a job. Am I going to wake up in 5 or so years and think "Gee,

Ok, I got a book out from the library called "101 Ethical Dilemmas" by Martin Cohen- just for fun. I know, I know, how sick am I right?! Anyway, thought I'd share one with you all...let me know what you would do! And be honest, this is just a blog, not some worldwide forum where what we say adversely affects the rest of humankind. Have fun.... "Sam's live-in partner has a taste in expensive nik-naks - things like toasters which burn an icon of the day's weather on the toast, or solar-powered fountains for the garden pond. The toaster is in the cupboard as it always burnt the middle of the tast and under-did the rest, whilst the garden fountain clogged up after a day and sank to the bottom of the pond. Unsolicited, a catalogue drops through the letterbox from a very fancy - and expensive - postal store, computer-addressed to the partner. Should Sam quietly get

comebacks..
2006-11-24 13:09:18
I very rarely post funny emails that I get, but here is an excerpt of one that I received earlier this week: SMART ASS ANSWER #3 The cop got out of his car and the kid who was stopped for speeding rolled down his window. "I've been waiting for you all day," the cop said. The kid replied, "Yeah, well I got here as fast as I could." When the cop finally stopped laughing, he sent the kid on his way without a ticket. SMART ASS ANSWER #2 A truck driver was driving along on the freeway. A sign comes up that reads, "Low Bridge Ahead." Before he knows it, the bridge is right ahead of him and he gets stuck under the bridge. Cars are backed up for miles. Finally, a police car comes up. The cop gets out of his car and walks to the truck driver, puts his hands on his hips and says, "Got stuck, huh?" The truck driver says, "No, I was delivering this bridge and ran out of gas."

After a few requests regards my poems -and I use the term loosely :) -, here is a little something I wrote back in September. I write to express myself, so at the time of writing emotions are usually fairly raw and I can't share until those emotions are dealt with...enjoy. kissing a memory, too old to remember, pain still so fresh, butI will not surrenderwho built the walls, was it me, was it you?too great to bring down,if only you knewmy silence betrays, just how lost I feel, need to find me again, need to be realthe taste of tomorrow,so inviting and sweet, with yesterday gone, the worlds at my feetwhat will I do with it?can't let myself downmaybe the numbnesswill finally drownbut hope springs eternalI can still see the sunif only it shonethen i'd be done ©2006
