"inappropriate weapon handling" This is apparently the reason that Private Jake Kovco died in April this year while stationed in Iraq. My response to that? WELL DUH! Ok, for those of you who don't know what the heck I'm talking about, take a peek here. It kinda gives a summary of whats been happening. Basically Pte Kovco [...]

When you're a child, Christmas is a wonderful time. The magic. The decorations. The anticipation. The presents! And even though we don't realise it at the time, the memories that are being created. Not just for us, but for our family. It's always interesting to note when comparing these recollections years down the track just [...]

2006-12-08 15:57:24
Zoe went to stay over at her dad's tonight…which meant that I had the evening to do whatever I chose to do. The possibilities were endless. You know what I did? I went with mum to BINGO. O-M-G When did this quaint little pastime, usually reserved for those little purple haired ladies who had enough time [...]

send your thoughts, and rain
2006-12-12 22:27:43
There is an enormous fire happening in Victoria at the moment, and also Tasmania. It's been raging for days now and weather conditions are not helping. Whilst at this point friends and family aren't in danger, that could change at any moment but there are families who have lost their homes or close to doing so. [...]

zoe: THE STAR
2006-12-13 12:41:21
Remember how I totally uprooted Zoe from everything she knew, her friends, her comfortable school and dragged her half way cross the country to a new town, new school, new life? Well you wouldn't know it from her school report. It came today and I'm prouder than punch! She not only settled into her new environment [...]

I've got mail!
2006-12-14 04:54:05
About January of this year, I was surfing some blogs on Blogexplosion when a banner caught my eye. It said simply, "Smoke and Mirrors" It was nothing startling, but it got my attention because it was almost identical to the one I'd made for myself on some banner generator site just a few days earlier. [...]

oh how I've missed you..
2006-12-14 11:42:10
I've grown to love you over time. At first I was scared. I mean I'd never done anything like this before. But you made it easy, forcing me to take one step at a time…and only when I was comfortable. I was nervous. I had no experience. That didn't matter to you though did it? This last little while [...]

my christmas wishlist
2006-12-19 00:16:26
I’ve seen a lot of Christmas wishlists while surfing blogs of late, and sat down to think about writing one of my own. But as I thought about it, I don’t really have one! At least not for myself. I have everything I want and need right now, and to add to it would trivialise the dramatic changes to myself, and my life of late. So instead, here are my wishes for just some of those people in my life who have helped it become what it is today….. For you I wish a stocking filled with dreams come true and a tree surrounded by the love of those around you. May the memories of this time in your life keep you warm in later years. I wish for you the strength to continue on the journey you’ve recently begun. I know it’s been hard, and a VERY long time coming, may you sleep easier with the memories that make you smile, and forgive those that make you cry. For you a winning lotto ticket so you can get the boat that was very nearly in your grasp. You have no idea just

a christmas poem
2006-12-20 11:47:39
I received this in email today and thought I would share it. Something I rarely do! T'WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, HE LIVED ALL ALONE, IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE, MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE. I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY, WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE, AND TO SEE JUST WHO,IN THIS HOME, DID LIVE. I LOOKED ALL ABOUT, A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE, NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS, NOT EVEN A TREE. NO STOCKING BY MANTLE, JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND, ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES, OF FAR DISTANT LANDS. WITH MEDALS AND BADGES, AWARDS OF ALL KINDS, A SOBER THOUGHT, CAME THROUGH MY MIND. FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT, IT WAS DARK AND DREARY, I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER, ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY. THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING, SILENT, ALONE, CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR, IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME. THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE, THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER, NOT HOW I PICTURED, AN AUSTRALIAN SOLDIER. WAS THIS THE HERO, OF WHOM I'D JUST READ? CURLED UP ON A PONCHO, THE FLOOR FOR A BED? I REALIZED THE FAMILIES, THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT, O

send a message to our troops
2006-12-22 01:37:06
After seeing Michael’s post on sending a message to American troops who are deployed around the world at the moment, I went on the hunt for something similar for aussie personnel. I was all ready to ring the defence department, Telstra, anyone who I could think of because I was sure I wouldn’t find anything! I had a plan of attack in place should I come up empty handed including calling national media…Well bugger me dead, I FOUND SOMETHING! Please make your way to this page for details…. Please send you appreciation and words of goodwill to those who are not with loved ones this year….It is appreciated as Tony (aka geminiguy) wrote in response the poem I posted yesterday: You're right Kelly, this poem has been around for a long time now and I recall seeing it last Christmas while I was deployed so many thousands of miles from home and loved ones. On reading it again, it stills instills a sense of pride as we know people think of us and the sacrifices tha

it's beginning to look a lot like christmas..
2006-12-22 14:37:21
The tree is done, or rather will be once candy canes and lights have been added. Will post pics once it’s completed. Below you will see a photo of Zoe with the big red man himself which was taken on Tuesday. She was sooooo excited because apparently it was the REAL one, and not someone dressed up as Santa as sometimes happens Who would have thought hey? I’m glad I’ve got Zoe to tell me how it REALLY is… Whilst on the subject of photos..well kind of anyway..take a peek at the newest addition to the ever growing collection of pages I’ve made. It’s called “Photos” funnily enough and has some pics that will take you to my new online web albums with thanks to google, and picasa. You’ll find the link for it up the top there on the right amidst the other crap pages I’ve added..enjoy! christmas tree, google, photos, picasa, santa, Zoechristmas tree, google, photos, picasa, santa, Zoe

Merry Christmas!
2006-12-24 15:45:37
Well folks, it’s just gone midnight here, which means it’s officially Christmas Day! We’ve spent today getting ready for chrissie lunch and watching Zoe get more excited as the day went by. Here is a bit of a glimpse at just some of the things we have been up to, not just today, but over the last few days…click any of the photos to take you to the online album, which you can also get to via the top sidebar item over there. I’ll be adding new photos over the next few days… Mr Empty Head…. My Chocolate Truffles…with a touch of Kellyness - aka Frangelico! Whats the magic of Christmas without a sparkly or two hey?! Zoe’s tree ornament we had done last year. Genuine Aussie Eggnog, straight outta the carton direct from dairy section of supermarket…hehehe To one and all, I sincerely hope you and your loved ones have a very Merry Christmas! Stay safe, stay healthy and above all, enjoy the simple things. A smile on a child’s

i'm so bloody full
2006-12-26 12:20:49
Christmas has come and gone. It left behind many things including, but not limited to, the following: Many teeth cavities. Perhaps it should be compulsory for all christmas stockings to include dental floss. I’m surprised that at least one of us hasn’t ended up in a diabetic coma or the like. Belly laughs, brought about by many things including flyday, furballs, wobbling christmas hats, hats that were way too small… Pressies for Zoe. Bike, helmet, magnifying glass, activity/information books, fairy dress, pj’s, cup with her name on it, cd player, cd’s and of course lollies. And chocolate. With her birthday coming before the end of the week, there will be even more! A few extra kilos…well ok, maybe more than a few extra…hehehehe Rubbish. There is plenty of rubbish. We could start our own landfill I’m sure of it. Most of it is recyclable however so don’t send me emails abusing me for adding the greenhouse effect ok? The longest runni

nice
2006-12-28 05:51:31
Nothing spectacular going on here at the moment. It’s just nice. And you know what? Nice is good! Tony is on the loungeroom floor surrounded by leggo pieces and two kiddies who are trying to help as he puts together a plane that looks more complicated than the real thing…yet the box says 5+..yeah right! We’ve been watching Mr. Holland’s Opus (which he bought me for Christmas, isn’t he a darling?!) and I’ve attempted to teach him how to play 500….man it’s a confusing game for the uninitiated.. We might take the kids for a walk up the park later, we might not. Who knows. We’ve been eating chocolates All in all it’s a just a normal, everyday day. And you know what? It’s nice. Nice is good. It’s not boring, unless you let it be. It’s comfortable. It’s what life is all about. Enjoying the nice moments. The extremes of life aren’t what make it interesting. It’s the in between bits. When you get
