N.E.E.D. more Calgon
2007-05-01 16:15:00
Luckily, it's not for my house! We are all much better today. The Calgon driver will be busy with all of the addresses I'm gonna send him. My phone rang this morning and my friend Julie who hosted this past weekend's birthday party was asking is anyone was sick here. After a few phone calls, she had determined that about 70% of the attendees were sick. This sounds like something that's going around. Lots of kids and teachers have it and one little boy at Austin's preschool displayed his "sickness" at the Family Day last Wednesday. All of the moms whose kids had it prior to him said that is only lasts a few hours. Thank goodness! If you'd like to send someone a Calgon e-card, click on one of the graphics in this post. And to the Calgon people...if you're looking for a new commercial idea....I think you need a multiple moms campaign.

A Calgon Day
2007-05-01 04:28:00
I think the Calgon truck missed my house today. That's a shame, because I needed a "Calgon Take Me Away" moment tonight. Most days having 4 kids ages 3 and under is great fun. When you throw in an illness or two or three, fun is not a good descriptor of our household. To add to the "enjoyment" this evening, Daddy didn't get home until bed time. Between supper time and bed time, we could have filmed a Calgon commercial. We can't seem to get rid of runny noses around here and now we may have some little stomach bug....again. I hope this is what I've been hearing about from other preschool moms. They describe it as very short. Short is good when you multiply it by six (as opposed to long and everyone starting at different times).Tonight's excitement was provided by Tyler and John. Tyler was first. He covered me in his supper that didn't stay down. We all headed upstairs for an early bath. You would have thought nothing was wrong with the splish-splash party going on in there. We all g

Weekend Warriors
2007-04-30 03:14:00
Ok, so we didn't hike or camp or anything rugged, but I think taking 4 toddlers ages 3 and under out both weekend days qualifies for some type of scout badge or something! We're are own little weekend warriors. This is the second weekend in a row that we were out most of the day both days! Our lives are slowly returning to normal. Not really, but a girl can pretend, huh?Saturday was the parade and today we went to William and Lily's 3rd birthday party in the late afternoon after church in the morning. Tired yet? We are. William and Lily (and big brother Sam) are some of Austin's best buddies. The clown was a huge hit with the kids and pretty funny for the adults.John was just as scared of the clown as he was the big fire engine on Saturday. Lauren and Tyler took everything in stride as usual. Austin was very slow to warm up to the clown, but that's all he talked about on the way home.

National Day of Prayer
2007-05-03 07:01:00
If you've been reading many Mom blogs for any length of time, you are aware of Heather's situation. Reading her story, you'll realize that it's no coincidence that her surgery to remove a large brain tumor is today, The National Day of Prayer . Kelli at Living In Grace has organized a prayer vigil for her.

John's Braces
2007-05-06 23:45:00
When John starting walking a while back, his physical therapist noticed him walking on the insides of his ankles. Without correction it could lead to knee and back injuries. A couple of weeks ago he was casted and last Thursday he was fitted with braces that fit into his shoes. He may be in these for up to a year while he gets stronger.Luckily, they don't seem bother him. His brothers want to wear them and Lauren wants to help put them on. So, for now, they're 'tool' (as Tyler says).

Shrek the Third has Trips
2007-05-05 01:11:00
The triplet group I belong to sent out a fun email today about the third Shrek movie. Shrek and Fiona are having triplets!I'm not sure what the fascination is about triplets after you have them, but you just can't get enough. A few years ago, this wouldn't have meant the same. I'm pleading temporary insanity for bidding on these on Ebay: 2 Boys and 1 Girl-coincidence?

Zoo Monkeys Followed Us Home
2007-05-09 01:50:00
We took the kids to the Atlanta Zoo today. You haven't seen the zoo until the people at the zoo have treated you like an attraction. Just like every adventure, we got more looks than the animals at some exhibits. The kids really loved it though, and everyone but John zonked out on the ride home. From supper time to bed time I would swear that we brought the monkeys home with us. It was a zoo in my house. After supper we had to go directly to the bath. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200. And no get out of bath free card. It was work getting ravioli, banana, and peas out of their hair and off of their faces. Clif wasn't going to be home until after their bed time, so this was a solo event for mommy. The triplets were so messy I didn't even want to carry them. I stripped them down to their diapers and walked them into my bathroom. While I was busy trying to get the three little ones into the tub, Austin, decided that he needed to poo and chose not to go the potty. He hasn't had many

Dear God. . .
2007-05-08 02:55:00
Austin's night time prayer this evening: "God is great...no. Dear God . {long pause} Dear God. Thank you for bringing Austin back home. Amen."The best I can figure is he was thanking God for returning him home safely in his spaceship which he had just taken to Grammy Poe's house. He had to stop halfway through the 15 second spin around his room because, "I need gas Mommy. I need GAAAAAS!!!!!" And, by the way, if you ever borrow Austin's spaceship you'll need some pennies because that's what it takes to crank it. I know this because he pulled a pretend penny out of his swim trunks pocket to get it started. ~The mind of a 3 year old.

Early Mother's Day Gifts
2007-05-12 04:01:00
This weekend I get to celebrate my 4th Mother's Day. They keep getting better and better. Four kids in 4 mother's days. Life has been busy. Austin is 3 and the triplets are 19 1/2 months old this year.I never dreamed motherhood would be like this. I had an idea of what things would be like, but not many people ever dream about what happens when your family increases by 3 in one day. Life after triplets is nothing you can imagine until it happens. Every day is a blessing. This year instead of my hubby calling 1-800-flowers or some such place to order overpriced flowers that cost an arm and a leg to ship, he decided to plant some things that would last. He visited the local garden center of Lowe's and purchased something from him and each of the kids. Austin followed Daddy out this afternoon and they shoveled out some Georgia clay , very dry clay I might add, to plant my flowers . They were both very proud. This is also the year that Austin made me my first homemade Mother's Day presen

Coffee Fool
2007-05-11 07:10:00
We drink lots of java in our house. I used to go in spurts with my coffee drinking, but the last two years my coffee intake has gone up and competes with my husband Clif some days. The only disagreement about our coffee consuption is the strength of the brew. He would prefer that his coffee be strong enough to slap him in the face to wake him up and I prefer something much less abrasive. Here's my new compromise: Coffee Fool.com. Their coffee is just as they said. It's is extremely fresh and not bitter. I see more fresh coffee beans in my future. I think I can handle a stronger brew of these beans.Their secret is the speed of which they roast and get the coffee to you. It is roasted and then packed and shipped within 24 hours from one of 5 locations across the US.For the life of me, I can't remember how I found them. The sad part is I know that I found them in the last couple of weeks. Another confession of what happens when you have Mommy Brain.

Kitchen Help
2007-05-10 07:01:00
All four kids enjoy being in the kitchen these days. This is especially true when I'm loading or unloading the dishwasher. This particular day they gathered in front of the refrigerator. Austin and Lauren were in a big discussion (talking about world peace or something), John was phoning in his dinner order on the play phone and Tyler looks like he was still trying to wake up. Austin has become fascinated with cooking and "helpin' Mommy!" He drags a chair over to the counter and wants to help with everything! At every new stage I keep saying how I can't imagine what it will be like to watch 3 go through a particular stage at once. It is actually working out ok so far. [However, I'm going to start a 'pray for my sanity' campaign when we start potty training the triplets.] They don't all go through the exact thing at the same time, but they do try to imitate their brother on almost everything. The 'orange shoe' picture depicts a recent episode of this. Austin peeled an orange and d

Road Trip
2007-05-16 02:57:00
We're about to embark on our third official road trip since "babies make six". They've all been to Kentucky to see my side of the family. All of Clif's family lives close to us. This time our trip is for a party. My nephew is turning 1 this weekend. The trip is about 6 hours without kids and can vary from 6.5 - 8 hours with kids. Do you have any idea what it's like to pack and travel with 4 kids ages 3 and under?Yep. It's some kind of feat. I feel like an airline hostess for the entire trip.I have the rest of tonight and a few hours tomorrow night to pull this off. I would have had most of today, but we have 3 sick babies. Two of them went to the doctor today and got their little throats swabbed. They have an unnamed virus that is going around. Thank goodness it's not strep. However, last night was not fun. Tyler had been clingy and cranky all afternoon and evening, so he went to bed really early and ahead of his siblings. That never happens! Lauren woke up crying at 9pm and with

Swinging At Nana's
2007-05-19 04:05:00
After a long trip, the kids were a bit cranky, but they got a good nap today and had a blast in Nana and Granddad's back yard. We're hoping that their early bed time this evening will make for a good birthday party tomorrow for cousin Micah.Austin is so worn out, he crashed on the way home from the Dairy Queen at about 6pm and hasn't moved since Clif put him in bed. Ahh...to be 3 again.

I Smell Pepperoni Pizza
2007-05-23 18:26:00
If I could somehow skip the whole potty training thing, I would be one happy camper. Just when you think they are doing so well.....As I am cleaning up the kitchen after supper Austin says he needs to potty. He returns completely naked and says, "Mommy. Clean my leg. Don't go into the bafroom. I cleaned it up." When your 3 year old says he cleaned it up, it only means one thing; a huge mess. He had poo all the way down his leg, so change huge mess to ENORMOUS MESS.After I cleaned his legs, he followed me all the way to the bathroom saying, "I help clean Mommy!" I walked into the bathroom to find poo all over the floor and both hand towels. I started spraying Clorox disinfecting kitchen cleaner and wiping down everything in site.He hopped on the potty to go again and said, "I smell something". I said, "I smell something too! It's poop. What do you smell?""I smell pepperoni pizza!"

Swimming Lessons - Day 3
2007-05-23 14:28:00
Day 3 of swimming lessons was pretty much a repeat of day 2. Everyone is still crying, but skills are improving. They didn't swallow much water today. The babies are "very buoyant" according to Tanya, so they should be great floaters, but this means they need to get a strong kick before she teaches them to float. Otherwise, they won't want to kick, they'll rely on floating only (if that makes any sense).I was able to get pictures and some low-res video of the boys. Austin didn't want to go and didn't want to swim, but he keeps asking to watch the video of him over and over. I guess I was busy dressing someone while Lauren was in the pool. I'll get her next week. Here is a picasa slide show. It has 3 photos and 4 videos embedded. Click on the slide show to visit my gallery and watch the movies of the boys.More pictures to come in the following weeks.

Swimming Lessons - Day 2
2007-05-22 12:41:00
Austin decided last night and reiterated this morning that he wasn't going swimming today. He was matter of fact about it. No fit. No crying. He told me this morning that he was going to stay home. When it was time to load the car, he happily went along, but "I not swimmin' Mommy."I thought he might show some anxiety when we arrived, but he had a distraction. As we pulled in the parking lot a train was going by and all 4 were fascinated. The train tracks run just behind the swimming facility. We made our own little train as we walked to the facility. Everyone held hands. Carol had two and I had two and they all walked in together. It's really a good place to practice walking together as there's not much traffic in the lot.No one showed any anxiety until they were put into the pool. Here's the rundown for today:Tyler was the quietest. I think he was totally overwhelmed. As the lesson finishes, the instructor hands each one out of the pool to me onto a changing table. Tyler rolled o

Swimming Lessons
2007-05-21 16:00:00
We live in Georgia where a good majority of subdivisions have pools. Ours is a nice, small pool, but we don't have a life guard. Trying to envision taking 4 kids ages 3 and under to the pool seemed daunting and not very safe. Austin talks about going swimming all of the time. We decided to go full force and make sure they all learned a skill set that could save their lives if, heaven forbid, one of them slipped out of site and landed into the pool. You know how quickly that can happen. We chose Infant Swim Resource. Someone on the triplet group I belong to sent a recommendation for these folks. They really know what they are doing. We have a master certified trainer 30 minutes from us and decided that this would be our vacation. It takes a 5-day per week commitment for 4-6 weeks. Lots of people think I'm crazy, but other moms that have put their kids through this say that their little ones are like fish by the end of the lessons. And I can't think of anywhere that I'd wish to go wi
