Introducing Sam From MarketMatador.com
2007-05-10 14:17:34
Hello everyone, I’d like to introduce a friend of mine, Sam from MarketMatador.com. We both started our blogs around the same time, and somehow one of us came across the others (I don’t remember exactly). Sam and I have been giving each other feedback on each other’s blogs and sending emails back and forth, and we’ve decided to pool resources and form a partnership of sorts. Since we’re both Matadors, after all. =) We’ll probably be guest blogging for each other once in awhile in the future. He’s got a great blog, and I definitely suggest you go check it out. But don’t take my word for it! (butterfly in the sky…) Hey everyone, my name is Sam and I’m from the financial resource site, MarketMatador.com. Mark, from the Wall Street Matador, and I have been busy working on our websites and we recently came to the conclusion that we should collaborate and share the stock picks that we constantly talk about. Over the next few weeks

DNDN Hammered
2007-05-09 16:09:02
Well, I guess Christmas came a little early this year… for the shorts. I mentioned before that it was quite likely that Dendreon (DNDN) would fall as May 15 came closer, but I certainly didn’t expect today’s premarket ravaging. DNDN opened at $7.20 today, down almost 60% from yesterday’s close of $17.74. While this isn’t necessarily the end of the line for Dendreon, this certainly strikes a harsh blow to Provenge’s short term prospects. Despite the positive recommendation from an advisory panel that caused DNDN’s skyrocket a few weeks ago, it appears that the FDA is not ready to approve the release of Provenge. It isn’t clear at the moment what the FDA is requiring but the issuance of an approval letter implies that additional trials will be required. Dendreon is in the process of running more trials, but results aren’t expected until 2010 at the earliest. This is definitely the worst case scenario for Short interest in DNDN rose f

Google’s Annual Shareholder Meeting
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Google (GOOG) held their annual shareholder meeting a few days ago at the Googleplex. While the stock has been hit fairly hard pretty recently, I’m still bullish on Google for the long term. Here’s a great abbreviated series of summaries written I came across that touches upon the key points: (Thanks to Andy Beal over [...]

A Rising Tide Floats All Boats
0000-00-00 00:00:00
In the past two months, you could’ve thrown a dart at the ocean of stock tickers out there and it most likely rose. In the coming week or two, however, the saying “a rising tide floats all boats” may well turn around. If the market indices start breaking down, it won’t matter if you’re picking [...]

AAPL and the Blogsphere
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Investors in Apple (AAPL) have seen a pretty decent return lately, with the stock driven upwards in anticipation of new products and more of Apple’s now famous design. However, Apple’s stock took a quick dip yesterday morning after popular tech blog Engadget posted information from what they believed was a authentic internal memo: This one doesn’t [...]

Online Advertising Acquisition Frenzy
0000-00-00 00:00:00
With all the recent mergers and acquisitions in the online advertising arena, there is no denying that this area is red hot. Here are some of the recent acquisitions by the big players: (thanks to Zac over at ZacJohnson.com for the graphic) The party was started by Google (GOOG) when they announced the DoubleClick in April for [...]

Real Estate Correction?
0000-00-00 00:00:00
After a pretty rewarding 3 year run for real estate investors, it appears that the party is finally coming to an end. While it’s too early to say for certain, two real estate ETF’s I’ve been following—ICF and IYR—showed significant weakness last week, gapping down through trendlines as well as respective 200 DMAs. I’d keep [...]

Hedge Fund Myths Debunked
0000-00-00 00:00:00
I came across a interesting article over at Crestmont Research on common hedge fund myths. I’ll admit that I’ve believed a few of these myself, but the author seems to do a decent job of busting the myths. Take a look: MYTH #1: POOR PERFORMANCE One of the most prevalent myths relates to the performance of hedge [...]

DNDN Coverage - Return of the Bull
0000-00-00 00:00:00
When I saw DNDN’s stock price at +60% this morning I nearly did a double take. “It must be an error,” I thought. But it wasn’t, and our Dendreon (DNDN) rollercoaster ride continues with this mornings announcement regarding the controversial FDA decision regarding Provenge. Earlier this month the FDA stated that it would require “additional information” [...]

DNDN Doldrums
0000-00-00 00:00:00
After soaring to highs of $22-23 almost 2 months ago on heavy speculation regarding it’s cancer drug Provenge, Dendreon’s (DNDN) future doesn’t look too bright. At the time, an FDA advisory panel endorsed the drug, causing investors to believe that the FDA would approve the drug, creating a gold mine for Dendreon. Unfortunately for the [...]

LifeInsure.com
0000-00-00 00:00:00
Life insurance is always a sensitive topic. On one hand, no one ever expects or wishes to collect it. (Usually!) DNDN to Raise $75 Million
0000-00-00 00:00:00
In our latest episode of the Dendreon (DNDN) saga, it appears that the company is looking for additional financing, possibly for additional clinical trials for it’s cancer drug, Provenge. I had speculated previously that DNDN may be looking for additional sources of funding after it’s stock price took a heavy beating following it’s failure to obtain [...]

Google + Apple ?
0000-00-00 00:00:00
The 2007 Apple World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) will launch tomorrow. While there has always been a whirlwind of rumors every year preceding the annual conference, I believe there is one rumor that stands a very good chance of coming true - a Google /Apple partnership. Of course, we already know that Apple is collaborating with [...]

TASR’s Comeback
2007-06-20 10:25:28
Taser International’s (TASR) shares have slipped over 75% since early 2005 due to missed expectations and numerous lawsuits over it’s Taser nonlethal weapons technology. However, things are starting to look up in 2007 as Taser recently successfully defended yet another lawsuit, giving it a track record of 45-0 in wins. In addition, the company has added a new feature to the gun called a “Taser Cam” to record the situation, helping provide solid evidence against future lawsuits. After the string of successful lawsuit defenses, orders have started to pick up again, with new orders coming in from Arizona, Washington, Florida, Hawaii, and Pennsylvania. In addition, international sales have started to pick up, now accounting for approximately 14% of total revenues. An increasing number of European countries are showing substantial interest in Taser’s stun gun. In upcoming news, TASR is set to show off it’s new XREP projectile sometime next month. In addit

NVTL Stock Chart

Novatel Wireless (NVTL) has seen a fantastic runup over the past 6 months, and the stock chart looks absolutely beautiful. I was able picked up some shares at around $20 earlier this month. Watch out for possible breaks in the trend; MACD indicates a potential downturn in the bullish trend. ---Related Articles at The Wall Street Matador:ROCM Chart - Catching a Falling Knife?TRE - Double BottomCOG Chart - Breakout

GOOG Breakout
2007-06-25 11:05:51
Google’s stock chart looks pretty solid:   Looks like GOOG is breaking out; it’s not going to jump 5% in a day but I believe Google’s stock price should see a significant run up, until the next earnings report that is. If the earnings report is positive, I see GOOG stock at 600 by the year’s end. ---Related Articles at The Wall Street Matador:COG Chart - Breakout Google’s Annual Shareholder MeetingInvestor’s Blog Network Festival #5
