Have you ever been to St.Georgen? I have! 2007-02-14 08:36:00 Yesterday. My documentation is now online. I've also worked on the documentation of some other exhibitions I've seen this year . Please have a look at my exhibition archive, now linked to f&art. My "real" website will also be online soon. There you'll find information about what I do when I'm not online - besides, eating, sleeping and shopping ;-)St. Georgen is a little town somewhere in the middle of nowhere (Blackforest in the south of Germany). I got there by train and it took hours but the countryside was quite impressive! The Graesslin family got wealthy by manufacturing clockdevices. In the 80s the four children Bärbel, Thomas, Sabine and Carola started to continue the art collection their parents had started, but with a much more contemporary approach. They're all somehow connected to the artworld. Bärbel Grässlin runs a gallery in Frankfurt. Sabine Grässlin is the owner of the restaurant Kippys, named after Martin Kippenberger who used to live in St. Georgen for quit
Have you ever been to St.Georgen? 2007-02-13 00:40:00 I'm going there in half an hour! It's somewhere in the Blackforest and it's the place where the graesslin familiy has their art collection. I'll tell you more about it this evening!Credit: sammlung-graesslin.eu
Why I hate H&M sometimes 2007-02-07 18:14:00 Some months ago I bought the perfect pair of tights. After wearing them twice my toe's coming out! What the f***!? Those where the most perfect tights, grey, slightly shimmering, perfect for black dresses and skirts. Why does H&M stuff pass away so fast?
what does fart mean? 2007-02-07 16:11:00 Today an anonymous reader pointed out that "fart" has a certain meaning to americans, which I apparantly didn't know...Quite the contrary! When I started this blog:Boyfriend: I don't know if I like that title...Maret: Why?Boyfriend: It's too stupid to be funny. "F&art" just sounds indecent, primitive, childish.Maret: So what? At least it's much more handy than fashion&art. Don't you think?Boyfriend: Hhm.Maret: It also expresses my opinion about the topic!Boyfriend: Hhm?Maret: It's all just a fart!Boyfriend: You don't do anything else than f&art!Maret: So what? I love to fart!Boyfriend: This conversation is getting stupid!Maret: You shouldn't be so serious!Credit: artkrush.com
H&M shopping list 2007-02-03 08:11:00 Although I'm totally broke (that's no news!) I'm planning a little shopping trip to my local H&M (well I drive there by bike in 10 minutes!). Unfortunately they haven't got a "TREND" dep. that's why I'll maybe wait until tuesday when I'm going to be in Stuttgart. I'm undec., as usual. Anyway... But I'm not undecided at all when it comes to my spring wardrobe. Dresses, dresses, dresses, dresses, maybe some skirts but definitely no trousers (well, maybe some (highwaisted) short...). Flats, Boots, Platforms, tights, jazzshoes. I get a lot of inspiration from these two swedish girls lately.Credit: hm.com
How to wear... 2007-02-01 09:45:00 ...rubber boots (or wellies, that's how they're called in britain (only?)). Sam from style diary asked me how I'm planning to wear my new hunters. I wear them a lot and I even wear them when it's not raining. They are just too comfy. I feel "british", uncomplicated but somehow well dressed at once. Since I'm a skirt girl I wear them with skirts most of the time. I felt very inspired by this Japanese girl in the yellow coat. I found her picture on Street Fashion photo | Tokio via picky picky pics (which is a very nice blog by the way!).Items in my pictures: 1. black Hunter wellies | mostly brown striped skirt (Zara) | brown fur vest (vintage) | blue slim woolen longsleve (Mango) | white scarf (H&M) - 2. black Hunter wellies | Tartan coloured skirt (H&M) | same blue longsleve as before | black short jacket (H&M) | same scarf as before. Also very nice are the Hunter styling suggestions of uniqlo.com.More pictures coming soon...Credit: Tokio
Beck's Fashion Experience Januar 2007 2007-01-31 12:15:00 Although Karl doesn't like Berlin Fashion
week there're some quite interessting things going on in that fashion scene. Today the organisers of Berlin Fashion week held a symposium on the topic "Why Berlin? - Why is Berlin one of the fashion capitals today?" Hhm. Personally I'm absolutely not interessted in economical facts, I want to see good fashion and this fashion week has to offer some young independent kreative designers. Here're my favourites of theBeck's fashion Exprience Januar 2007a show where upcoming designers present their stuff (A.F. Vandevorst in the jury!), some of them for the first time in professional public! The firs picture shows a work by Elena Schneider red leggins and pumps, asymetric tops and tunics, short coats, blue beige and white coloures dominate. The 24 years old is still on school, studying fashion design at the HfG Pforzheim which is open for public viewing on 9th and 10th of January.Peter Bertsch, 27 years old, has studied in Antwerp (and we all kn
I've been tagged... 2007-01-30 11:48:00 ...by S. So here're six unusual things about me:1. When I was 17 (that's nearly 10 years ago!) I was really into skateboarding. I was on of those girls wearing over-over-sized baggy pants és-shoes hook-ups sweaters and a skateboard under my arm. I loved skater boys, went to visit the münster monster mastership and was to afraid to skateboard. So one day I wrote a letter to a major german skateboard magazine monster skateboard magazine for motivation. They printed my letter in one of their issues and within a month nearly 50 compassionate Skateboarders called or wrote letters. On of those boys then became my first really boyfriend and my first really long distance relationship. I never learned how to really skateboard and I still avoid anything directly moving under my feet (even skis and snowboards, but please read no. 5).2. Two days before my A-levels I got my hair braided. It hurt like hell and so I had to write my tests under the influence of pain reliever because of my bad hea
Beanies 2007-01-29 15:57:00 Kristen Bell's wearing a beanie so do many others and so do I. I love Beanies in any kind of way. They keep your head warm and look sporty, cool, sexy...Credit: vogue.de
Carine Roitfeld on Vogue.fr 2007-01-28 17:22:00 This is one of these moments I love learning french. I'm motivated and I will pass my language test on wednesday. Just one question: Is there anybody who doesn't love Carine Roitfeld? If you haven't already watched this please do so now!Credit: The Sartorialist
hamburg 2007-05-24 17:00:00 I'm on the road again. On our way to hamburg we'll make a quick stop at Hannover to see the Made in Germany exhibition. At the same evening we'll visit the heliumcowboy artspace for the Finissage of the Boris Hoppek show.On saturday there's my ex-boyfriend's wedding, what Hang sew me a gorgeous dress for (Kate, Hang and I made a photo session yesteday - I'll post the photos as soon as I'm back). We'll simply hang around on Saturday and Monday, meet some friends (probably I'm going to visit my grandmother...) and I'll be back on Tuesday. Look forward to many pictures and storys to tell.I hope I'll find the time to go to H&M on Saturday to get that dress I'm dreaming of since I saw it the first time in Frankfurt - cross your fingers...Don't get bored while I'm away and shop at the wrongstore meanwhile (more info at style bubble or next week on f&art) .Credit: zwacklmann
american apparel news 2007-05-24 04:05:00 aa is really hitting the shiny thing (lately). I haven't bought my golden leggins yet (lack of money, lack of selfconfidence...) but I'm already looking at the silver mini dress thing (would wear it on skinny jeans). The cross front jumper looks also great and the two coloured mini dress. Hhm. I definitely need a well paid job soon! And who is actually going to wear this where (it looks really cool, but...)? And what about this, this and that? You should definitely take a look at aa's coming soon styles. They're definitely expanding their target audience or are they just following the fashion trends? Well, that's the question! I love it anyway (their 80s tabledancer styles)...Credit: store.americanapparel.de
agyness 2007-05-23 11:27:00 Kate's back and that's (besides some other magazines and lots of photos from the rca sculpture show - I'll post them later.) what she's brought for me...June's Vogue UK cover is totally hot! Agyness Deyn simply rocks. I know that there're so many of you not liking her, but I somehow love that girl - her style, her attitude ♥Credit: manuva on tfs
what do i wear at basel art fair ::: part 01 2007-05-31 17:19:00 Well. Since learning and thinking about what to wear at basel art fair is all i do for the last couple of days, i thought it would be nice of me to share at least my thoughts on the clothing issue. Some time ago i stumbled upon sans the new york based eco friendly design duo - growing up in germany all this eco fuss seems really weired to me!!! Anyway, I love their styles and when it's also eco friendly, it's even better!!! Today I talked to Kate about it and maybe we'll try to redesign some of the styles since I can't afford the original right now...The title of this post is a quote. French artist Matthieu Laurette did a project at Frieze Art Fair two years ago called what do they wear at frieze art fair?Credit: s-a-n-s.com
french architecture 2007-05-31 04:29:00 Dear readers, I won't be able to post regularily the next couple of weeks. I have my final oral exams in 5 weeks and so much stuff to do besides that, that I really don't know how to even manage my exams...All the major events will be covered (Art Basel, p.e.), I promise. I've barricaded myself at home (or in the library) only go out to eat and shop for Basel stuff (very systematicly). The themes of my oral exams are (very art historical and one can't really choose them...): Gothic architecture of the Île-de-France, Manet and Theory of Minimal Art. What I'm going to do until sunday is comparing floor plans, facades and stuff like that. Does it sound weired when I say I really love it? I'm a huge gothic fan...Credit: G. Binding, "Was ist Gotik?", scanned by me.
art basel 2007-05-30 05:49:00 I'll be in Basel for the art fair this year (The Sartorialist aswell!!!). I'm already thinking about what to wear. Since this fair isn't not only about art! In addition I'm going to meet my future "boss" from New York (or well at least the person who is going to pay my salaray in parts...). So a neat pair of skinny jeans and some flats won't be enough to leave a mark. Since I don't have the money to simply buy the things I'd need for some fabulous outfits I'll have to be creative.June's German InStyle (my favourite trash magazine!) already brought a special on the art events with some dressing advice (maybe EVERY magazine is going to bring or has already written something about it!). Since it's going to be hot, I'll go for light summer dresses and some fabulous sandals. I definitely won't be able to walk around Basel in heels (as adviced)!!! Some accessories, a neat bag - done!I'll post pictures on my clothes sorting progress the next couple of days (I'll be in Stuttg

been lately? Why doesn't exist a fantastic magazine like i-D in Germany? Why is i-D so expensive in Germany? Why don't I finish university and get a job and simply buy all the brilliant foreign magazines without caring about what they actually cost?Credit: Royal-Galliano @ tfs
latex, again 2007-05-29 17:15:00 hhm. latex really isn't a new material in fashion. In August 2003 Vogue Italia (innovative as usual) already featured thist exciting material. Wow. I found this Daria Werbowy by Steven Meisel spread via tfs here. There you'll also find the rest of the spread. Thanks to valley of dolls. I guess like ra is gonna like it!?Credit: valley of dolls
Back from Hamburg 2007-05-29 16:01:00 Because of really heavy traffic I wasn't able to do anything I planned to do on friday. Me and my boyfriend arrived in Hamburg
at 7.30 pm without beeing in Hannover for the made in germany exhibition. Everyone living in Germany seemed to be on the Autobahn on friday. It was horrible. In Hamburg I had 15 minutes to spend in H&M where I bought a dress which I have to return because it doesn't fit properly - I hate shopping out of frustration... At least my boyfriend bought a very sexy slim fit Hugo Boss shirt to wear at my ex-boyfriends wedding...On saturday I spent the morning preparing for the wedding, which started at 4 pm. I wore a dress Hang made for me. Long slim, shiny - I was dressed perfectly. I couldn't take a single photo at that wedding since I forgot to bring my battery pack, which really pissed me off since I carried the camera around but couldn't take a single photo. My ex promissed to upload pictures on a website, that means I'll probably be able to upload some pictu
model recycling 2007-05-29 13:52:00 Is it common to use different pictures from the same editorial in two different magazines (same month's edition)? Did globalization already get that far? Are fashion magazines becoming more and more equal these days? This months i-D features a editiorial by photographer Paul Wetherell starring Cintia Dicker (where has she been lately?). And 032c magazine does the same. I mean THE SAME. SAME setting, SAME model
, SAME SAME SAME... And the Cintia Dicker spread isn't the only one! TWO editorials both in TWO different magazines...What does that mean? Did I miss something? Is this how things work? See the whole Cintia Dicker eds here (032c) and here (i-D)Credit: Scanned and photographed by me from 032c and i-D
germany's next topmodel... 2007-05-29 11:09:00 the 20 year old barbara meier from regens- burg is germany's next topmodel. Well, let's see what will happen. Doesn't she remind us a bit of Lily Cole? Hhm. Yes, no!? Maybe it's just the red hair!? Anyway. I love the red hair and loved how she somehow managed to forbear from the bitching in the "model house". Good luck Barbara and maybe we'll see you somewhere again (besides the dodgy C&A campaign) . She at least won a contract with IMG models. Well that's not that bad! Overall Heidi Klum did a good job, I guess...It wasn't me who did that video, by the way...Credit: prosieben.de
trust you local latex dealer... 2007-06-04 10:30:00 ...and never buy cheap stuff in cheap ebay shops. I'm totally dis- appointed, since I loved my latex leggins and today they simply slowly died (on my way to the library...). Only thing I could do ripp the rest of it off and wear them as a kind of legwarmes!Guess doll's realm was totally right pointing out that my leggins are somhow bad quality! Well, let's save some money and buy the "real" stuff, guess I'm kind of ready for it...Items in the pictures: Me, black leather ballet flats, black now broken latex pants, black flowery bubble jersey dress, bench jacket, black huge canvas bag with leather applications.

blog review: doll's realm 2007-06-04 04:43:00 new blog in my blog list: doll's realm
from NYC. at first i have to make clear that i don't only review
this blog because mine was reviewed there yesterday!!! i review it because i stumbled upon it after checking my stats and liked it right away. as already pointed out before f&art gets quite a lot of visitors from the latex scene since i somehow got famous as a latex loving fashion addict, which isn't THAT wrong, actually ;-).So f&art was mentioned on slinky skin (contains some stuff you need to be older than 18/21 to look at) a uk based side by latex fans who also produce high quality latex clothing (I'll probably change my cheap and bad quality pants and stockings into high quality ones soon...) and that's how Asudem Latex, the owner of doll's realm found f&art. Well, that's the internet ;-)Asudem Latex focusses in doll's realm on doll like trends in fashion and make up (but not only...). It's a great blog for fashion lovers who like to follow certain phenomena like the
the artworld is a tough world... 2007-06-03 07:55:00 Sorry, had to delete this post. Everyone who want's to know what happend, can contact me via email or just keep on reading - things remain undecided!!! I had to delete this post since neither the artist nor I know how things will develop... I didn't want this post to influence the situation in any kind of way! Somehow things always turn out great at last! Maybe also this time? I sometimes HATE THE ART WORLD - be prepared...Credit: don't know, anyone? | looks a bit like gerhard richter but probably isn't
Jörg Immendorff rip 2007-06-02 17:58:00 Being burried under a pile of books sometimes makes me loose relation to the outside world. So it even more shocked me to read not until today that famous painter Jörg Immendorf (61) had died last monday. Well, we all knew that he was really sick and that he was going to die more sooner than later. And so it happend nearly a week ago. I'm really sorry..."Germany on Monday lost one of its most famous artists when Jörg Immendorff, 61, died at his home in Düsseldorf. He lost a long battle with the fatal neurodegenerative disorder known as Lou Gehrig's disease. The disease had progressed to such an extent in recent months that Immendorff could no longer move his arms and legs.Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, whose portrait is one of Immendorf's best-known works, described the painter's death as a huge loss for the art world. "With Jörg Immendorff, we have lost one the greatest German painters -- one who attained a great international reputation," Schröder said. "He of
art goes heiligendamm 2007-06-02 07:48:00 Even if I'm not to most politically committed person there do exist some things besides fashion and art I concern myself with. Although I won't be in Heiligendamm for this year's g8 protest marchs I'd like to envince my full support to all the people who will be there fighting against the dark sides of capitalism whereas I personally prefer a peaceful kind of protest (although I see the importance of violence in some cases) like art goes heiligendamm for example."ART GOES HEILIGENDAMM responds to the challenge of going to the places where the social movements are, in order to interact with the different participants. The art interventions are intended to allow a "permeability" of action and perception between forms of presentation and representation in art and social movements. The intention of the project is to bridge the gap between the perception of pros and cons, of black and white. It is a matter of permeability and "growth of the present". Art works conceived during the fo
