THE FACE ::: Chapter & Verse ::: September 1997 2007-05-09 19:28:00 As someone who studied the history of art I'm always happy to recognize familiar "faces"... One of my most favourite fashion editorials ever is one that has been published 1997 in THE FACE (rip). At that time I was a real sucker for THE FACE Magazine and used a lot of their fashion spreads to wrap my (school) books in (shame on me!). Today most of the pictures are gone ;-( but fortunately I somehow saved most of the pictures of my favourite spread although they look kind of "used". I scanned all of them earlier today and posted them to my livejournal. Does anyone of you know this editorial and probably has the missing pictures and would scan them for me!? I would really appreciate it ♥The second picture shows Gabrielle d'Estrées and one of her sisters. It was painted by an unknown master of the Fontainebleau School around 1595. Oil on Canvas, 96 x 125 cm located at the Musée du Louvre, Paris. And do you know which work my favourite picture adapts (it looks like that because I use Read more:Chapter

Björk ::: Earth Intruders 2007-05-08 20:54:00 I really don't like posting that many videos, but this one has to be posted: Björk is back...great video but the music is something I still have to get used to but will definitely love in the nearer future. And that's how the cover looks like.

New hair 2007-05-14 00:44:00 went to the hairdresser on friday to refresh my relaxer... I'm really trying to grow my hair out for some years now but I always end up cutting it above the shoulders. Normally my hair is quite curly and I like to wear it tied back in a knot. But freshly relaxed and flatironed hair has to be worn loose... I'm really not one of those girls who constantly run to the hairdresser. For that my stylist is somehow too far away. I drive an hour by car to get my hair done... It's so hard to find someone you can really trust ♥
What to wear to a wedding ::: part 02 2007-05-14 00:20:00 some time ago i wrote about a wedding
which I'll have to attend in two weeks. A friend of mine makes me a dress (we bought the fabric on thursday, I'll post the pictures as soon as it's been finished...) and i bought the shoes on friday. since the dress is going to be a cocktail dress i wanted to go for dancing-like-shoes and found these quite cheap black partly suede leather buffalo shoes in my size. wow what a bargain!!! Well, I hate buying shoes...When I arrived at home and walked around in them for about 10 minutes I had to realize that one strapp was ripped off. So I had to return them on saturday. unfortunaltely the buffalo shop in frankufurt didn't have a size 41 or 42 pair size left. So i had to buy them online and hope they'll arrive in time... what an excitement!!!
Isabella Blow RIP 2007-05-10 01:10:00 Isabella Blow (née Isabella Delves Broughton, 19 November 1958 — May 7, 2007) was a British magazine editor and international style icon. The muse of hat designer Philip Treacy, she is credited with discovering the models Stella Tennant and Sophie Dahl as well as the fashion designer Alexander McQueen [...]That's really sad but we all have to go, sooner or later don't we? I just did a post on Philip Treacy a couple of weeks ago...Credit: dailymail.co.uk

Julia deVille's dead animals 2007-05-09 22:12:00 Would you run around with a dead bird attached to your chest? I definitely won't although I kind of love the jewellery the New Zealander Julia
deVille creates. In 2001 she started to study footwear design but decided quick that that wasn't the thing she really wanted to do. Her knowledge of leather led her to the production of leather gloves and accessories under her label Abattoir. Handling dead animal seems to be the logical continuation (?) to handling dead animal's skins...Her Jewelry would have fitted perfectly to Alexander McQueens Fall 2006 collection. Well maybe next time!?Credit: juliadeville.com

Among these are some pictures of Kate Moss taken by Corrine Day in the 1990s (an early never-seen-before portrait at a Quarry in Croydon, near London) and others taken by Chuck Close and Irving Penn. So be sure to check your bank account and prepare yourself for some great bargains or maybe just take a look at all lots...Credit: christies.com

BEASTING by Nick Knight 2007-05-15 13:21:00 wow. please don't ever tell me again I've been offensive posting a nude femal breast on foto_decadent this is pure sex and it's even gay sex. I want to see you trying to explain that to your kids. I bet/hope they have seen more naked female breast in their lifes. There's a huge difference between nudity and porn (I wouldn't refer to this pictures as porn...) and those pictures (also posted on foto-decadent are a tiny little bit more pornlike than mine, don't you think? But it's really intense!!! I f***ing love it! Well and there also is a tiny little VIDEO Beasting, Nick Knight
and Simon Foxton's intense photoshoot of last February is brought to film at last, edited by Ruth Hogben. Stills from the shoot will also be displayed in the Project Gallery. As an accompaniment to the April issue of Arena Homme+, the cover of which can now be seen peering out from magazine racks across the land (and allegedly from the top shelf in certain outlets too) the image depicts the beast of six
robin rhode 2007-05-14 23:16:00 Robin Rhode's show at Perry Rubenstein gallery (I've written about it earlier), new york was reviewed in the New York Times yesterday. I'm really happy for him and his family who had all been in Ney York last week to support him. The articel written by Carol Kino is really funny to read especially when you know robin (which I do ;-).For the artist, this show is something of a departure. Now 31, he has been known primarily for performances, photographs and video animations in which he interacts in a remarkably realistic fashion with a two-dimensional drawing of some everyday object, like a bicycle or a car. This time, along with the photographic work, he is offering something quite different: his first 16-millimeter film; a long video made in collaboration with a dancer and a cellist; and several editioned sculptures, including a dozen abalone shells cast in chalk and charcoal [...]Jerry Saltz has been spotted hanging around at the galleries several times. Let's see what he's goin
hunter wellies 2007-05-14 22:20:00 Since it's raining here for about three weeks now without a break worth mentioning my ideas on nice and creative weather-proof outfits nearly come to an end. So I had to search my harddisk for pictures of fashionable ladies wearing rubber boots or wellies - how they are called in the uk (preferably HUNTERs)...The woman wearing red pants - shot by the sartorialist in New York ealier this year - sports her (originally) green wellies with hip coloured jeans. Maybe she already knew that Dries van Noten would pose like that in this months US Vogue (in his gardening clothes with Aigle rubber boots)!? Very classy and totally chique! Last but not least the black HUNTER wellie (I call a pair of those my own aswell!) combined with black tights, black dress and black coat - something I would wear ;-) - also shot by the sartorialist in New York.Credit: thesartorialist and Vogue US May 2007 scanned by me
H&M autumn 2007 2007-05-20 03:02:00 Via ladybirds nest I had the chance to take a short glimpse at the upcoming H&M autumn collection. I'm so excited!!!! As already stated by ladybird it really looks like a mixture of the autumn 2006 and autumn 2007 Marc by Marc Jacobs collections. And I love(d) both!!! Summer even hasn't really started and I'm already looking forward to fall. Fashion (I) can be crazy sometimes!? The cut of the coat is tremendous...MORECredit: ladybirdbest
Ann Demeulemeester SS 07 2007-05-18 16:35:00 Ann Demeulemeester definitely is one of my favourite Designers. I've never worn a single item designed by her, but I'm convinced that they wouldn't suit me ;-( To wear her stuff one has to have an androgynous figure I guess, which I haven't. My shoulders are to broad and my bust aswell. I haven't got the money neither... Finally it isn't that bad at all. I'll just continue looking at her wonderful creations ♥If you want to see more be sure to check out my LIVEJOURNAL or kararoku's website.Credit: kararoku.com
documenta 12 anyone??? 2007-05-17 16:21:00 I received my press accrediation for documenta 12 today. That means I'll probably attend the press conference June 13th and the opening June 15th. That also means I would have to stay in Kassel for three days (and this year's documenta isn't meant to be as huge as the last one...) and besides the documenta Kassel isn't really THE place to be.Is anyone of you going to be there??? Please send me an email and we'll probably arrange something!? My documenta attendance would mean full documenta coverage for you...If I'm not going to make it to all the press fuss I'll definitely going to be there during the summer. So there'll definitely be a full documenta coverage for you...
Ich CANNES die ganzen red carpet... 2007-05-17 15:59:00 ...Bilder irgendwie nicht mehr sehen (= I can't stand all those red carpet pictures anymore). That's why I post only one picture (well o.k. one huge and a smaller one) of the Cannes 2007 opening showing probably the most happy couple (at least they look like that...). Michael Moore and his wife Kathleen Glynn who wears the most stylish sun glasses ever...Andi McDowell and Gong Li also looked kind of cute from above! You should check style.com later for the "real" red carpet looks!!!Credit: spiegel.de
032c 2007-05-22 08:52:00 There do excist so many fashion and art (= culture?) related magazines that it's really hard to have a general survey. I've linked many in my sidebar on the right, but linking all the magazines I come across would go beyond the scope of this blog - so not linking one doesn't mean that I don't like the magazine, it's somehow simply that either I don't know the magazine or simply had to compromise in terms of space. But from time to time I get hold of a new (to me at least) interessting magazine.Last week I received an email from 032c promoting their 13th issue. Well 13th? I haven't heard of the 12 previous issues... What a shame, since 032c is a really cool magazine and somehow my blog in a print version, since they deal with my subjects but in a much more professional way of course! The most anticipated release for the summer has also proved to be the most surprising one: 032c magazine, already an established leader in design and known for its elegant minimalism, has brought in
IO 2007-05-20 10:32:00 I don't write about men's fashion often (do I ever?). Via modabot I've stumbled upon io-berlin. Although I don't like the website that much I even more love the collection designed by Carola Plöchinger. I really like stylish people who know what suits their types and I would be very impressed by someone wearing this Cummerbund-like belt and the leather glove, oh and the boots and the trousers put inside them. I just LOVE it!!!MORE.Credit: io-berlinVia: modabot.de
more of the h&m babydoll dress 2007-03-02 13:25:00 Like posted before I've bought this H&M babydoll dress
some weeks ago. Now it has been featured in March's InStyle Germany and I got inspired to try out some stylings for my new dress. Have you ever thought about wearing it as a skirt?Credit: instyle
H&M shopping list 2007-03-02 13:00:00 Mia Florentine Weiss is tall and slim and shows what looks good on tall and slim women. Since I'm tall and slim - and believe me it isn't easy to get well fitting clothes - I'm always happy to get good advice, like in this case. I love the whole styling, especially the black high waisted trousers (by H&M (trend?) Guess where I'll be heading first on my Frankfurt trip next week!). The bag is by Missoni (again!) and the blouse by HUGO.Crtedit: instyle

25 artists to look out for in 2007 2007-02-22 08:59:00 The current issue (as digital version online avaible for free!!!) of ArtReview has David Lynch on its cover (ha ha I somehow didn't know how he looked like...) who - as a painter, photographer, filmmaker - talks about his upcoming show at Fondation Cartier.Besides that they feature 25 young artist to look out for in 2007. Among those is Thomas Zipp whichs current exhibition at the galerie Krinzinger in Vienna I've seen and already wrote about .Marcel Dzama is featured in "teddy bear or bear baiter?".AND funny videos about how the artworld might turn (p.162).Actually I tried to post more pictures, but somehow I didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. Liane Lang 2007-02-16 14:47:00 I bet you can't spot what's wrong! British artist Liane Lang who'll have a show at the Heidelberger Kunstverein in april works at the interface of photography and sculpture. Nothing in her pictures is real. The sculptures which are quite famous ( I guess you've already noticed...) are moulds and the women in the pictures are wax figures. Quite scary!? I remember my fist visit to Londons Madam Tussauds' as a child. Since then to me wax figures always are scary.Liane Lang april 28th - june 17th 2007, Heidelberger KunstvereinMORECredit: Liane Lang

aftershock magazine 2007-02-14 09:42:00 Via Diane Pernet I discoverd aftershock magazine today. Very simple website - which I love - and profound content. Very well done. I'm looking forward to number two! Esp. the second article called Revolt into Style: Images of West German "Terrorism" from 1968 to 1977 is very up-to-date, since the discussion about releasing the "terrorists" from prison after more than 20 years is going on in Germany these days.Credit: afterschockmagazine
