FLUR ::: Carolin Jörg ::: opening soon 2007-04-01 01:10:00 I'm hopelessly busy at the moment and very sorry that I'm not able to post in f&art more often these days. I'll launch a new website tomorrow conceirning my new independent exhibition place where on april 13th my first exhibition will open. Well it's not THAT special, but very new and very exciting for me, because I do EVERYTHING on my own. Writing Pressreleases, searching for graficdesigners, organize the flyerprinting, designing a new website etc.The artist is the Stuttgart based Carolin Jörg who does mostly drawings and a lot of them on the fashion topic - another reason I got really interessted in her. This night I'm going to finish the press release and after my boyfriend translated it ino english (his english is much better than mine ;-) I'll post it on the new webpage and post the link here... FLUR ::: now online 2007-04-03 02:29:00 Finally it is online
- flur's website. Although I haven't translated the press release yet. This I'm going to do during the next couple of days. But you'll get an idea of how my exhibition space will work like. "Flur" by the way means "hall" in english. And because my flat isn't that huge, although the hall is disproportionally grand scaled "flur" is a very small and private art space you can visit by appointment. The pictures show how "flur" looks today. Next week it will be turned into a white "cube"... Stay tuned and watch "flur" grow on www.mahret.de/flur.

polyvore.com 2007-04-04 03:03:00 Besides my exhibition preparations I always find time to do some imaginary shopping (since all my money is spend on art at the moment...). Via iqons.com I discovered polyvore.com today which is a lot of fun. There you can put styles together using images from major online shops and you can even upload new images!!!"The shoe" is the first set I created. A style I would definitely go for if I (1) had the money (2) wouldn't live where I live and (3).. guess that's it! "The shoe" (Balenciaga aw 2007) isn't really easy to combine. I couldn't find a larger bag (would have preferred the medium Chanel Paris-Biarritz posted here) and have no idea on how to wear the hair. Maybe in a knot or loose as seen on runway? It feels good having fans ♥ 2007-04-06 00:11:00 and Like Ra is one of them. For some of you it might be strange to dwell on the "dark side" sometimes. For me it isn't. I'm not really into "this" kind of stuff, but I absolutely accept the fact that some people do some things I wouldn't (assumed it is legal and doesn't harm someone!). I'm curious and love to test new things so riding a bike in latex pants - for example - is something I had to check out ;-) or simply walk around in 4inch heels on cobblestone (beeing 5.11'' gave it some extra drama!). Fashion has always to do with trying out new things and that's what makes it special and never boring. I've never been to a sex shop but I went into one to by latex powder and spray - totally new experience and all for the sake of fashion!Like Ra - by the way - has a very nice blog concerning topics like fashion, latex and lycra. Highheels for men? 2007-04-05 23:46:00 Marjan Pejoski has the answer! YES YES YES!? Hhm. Actually I like the idea, but I guess I would never consider a man wearing heels!? But what I love most about this idea is the fact that men's feet are larger and so maybe I at last would be able to buy a great pair of heels!? The whole men's collection (pdf!) actually is very feminine. I would wear some of his pieces. KATE AND IRINA FOR TOPSHOP 2007-04-06 15:15:00 There hasn't opened a topshop in germany yet and I think there isn't a necessity for now, although Kate Moss' topshop collection will be in shops 1st may. There aren't many pieces I'd purchase if I could (online shopping isn't possible for Germans neither!). He says that he couldn't reach more then 15 readers by now. But why? Golden Leggins 2007-04-09 12:53:00 Easter is nearly over and yesterday I ate as much as I regulary eat a whole month - but it was very good and I'm in training for my first running competition anyway so no reason to get worried ;-)I was really thinking of buying these leggins lately. Making of THE FLUR part 02 2007-04-13 11:40:00 There's my first opening tonight and I'm totally stressed out. There still are so many things to do and it's always weired to see that in situations one needs at least emotional support (not to mention "real" support) all your "friends" call and tell you that they couldn't come, because of this and that (all kinds of f****** stuff I'm totally not interessted in - at least for tonight - some good reaons and some not so good ones!) The world's coming in to look at what I've done and I'm standing there alone, as tiny as I can be and nobody is there to give support. And there would habe been some people I really counted on.Well... That was a little bit personal and I guess that's just the way it is - and I hope not only in my case!? There's no time to droop, as mentioned before, there're still so many things to do and this opening is going to be great also without some of my "friends".
Making of THE FLUR part 01 2007-04-12 12:30:00 Amber from painfullyhip just gave me the hint that susie bubble wrote a review about my FLUR exhibition. Whoa - I really feel honored. Things seem to work very well. Carolin and I worked nearly the whole night arranging her drawings and the video animation after my boyfriend and I built FLUR during the easter holidays. Today the local newspaper and radio visited FLUR - I'll post their review here tomorrow and maybe I'll find some time to post some FLUR pictures today ;-)

? I love mine but somehow never wear it, since so many people asked me if I was pregnant (sometimes I hate Heidelberg!). I searched my hard disk (I have a folder there called "Trendspotting" where I simply save everything I see and like and hope to get some inspiration from later!) and found some stylings of this exact dress and would love to share those with you. First there's Olivia of Moderniteter wearing it with black leggins and flats. Second there's Amanda of Moderniteter sporting the dress with overknee stockings, heels and a cropped denim jacket. The third picture shows Mettchen (you probably know here from the fashion spot?) wearing the dress with skinny jeans and flats.I really love the last styling shown on The Sartorialist a couple opf weeks ago. Making of THE FLUR part 03 ::: THE OPENING 2007-04-16 13:26:00 The opening of the flur has been a huge success!!! I thank all my passionate readers for their support. I really needed it, but at last it all turned out to be really great! Carolin’s exhibition at my hall ("FLUR" in German) has a history which I will tell in another post...On Thursday I had a little press conference for the local newspaper and radio. Two very kind women – whom I already knew from my work at the Heidelberger Kunstverein - came and wrote some nice articels which have been published on Friday – the day of my opening which finally attracted around 50 people (and my flat is realy small!) and many people I didn’t know (besides some of my friends, my family, my boyfriend’s parents and the artist’s boyfriend and parents!).I served beer (Eiszäpfle), Bionade (do you know that non alcoholic drink abroads?) and later some sparkling wine and Bolte from Bourgeois Pig (a really nice gallery, design shop, concept store thing just around the corner) spun records (some ja Read more:OPENING
boris hoppek at heliumcowboy artspace 2007-04-17 17:29:00 Sometimes I'm a little bit slow - and sometimes it has to do with the fact that I haven't got a TV.The new Opel Corsa has a campaign supported by the c.m.o.n.s (a "knitted" rockband ;-) running for quite some time now and everytime I saw it I thought 'well, I somehow know this dolls'...Actually they are made by the German artist Boris Hoppek who is now living in Barcelona, Spain and who's work is now shown at the heliumcowboy artspace in Hamburg, Germany until May 25th.Do you also want to see a little movie? Kate from Bourgeoise Pig just introduced me to the work of Diana Dart who has been making dolls since she was five years old. At the age of eight, she sent portrait dolls to Boy George and Adam Ant, but never received a reply - which is really sad though ;-( According to some critics, Miss darts pieces are "dark and disturbing". This view, however, is not shared by the artist herself: "My dolls are little creatures that take drugs, have sex and suffer from depressing. Despite all this, they always look absolutely adorable." THE FLUR 2007-04-17 12:57:00 I haven't posted pictures of the Carolin Jörg exhibition yet. FLUR actually isn't really big maybe 10m² (I had to build a wall so it's a "closed" room. Now you have to enter the flat trough the kitchen, which is alright). There I show Carlin's drawings and a DVD with animated drawings. In the living room I show some works in addition. These aren't a part of the exhibition, but I wanted to show some more stuff in case the visitor is interessted and wants to see more. The last pictures shows so called stitching sets which remind very much of Carolin's actual wall stiching works - I'll post about them later. Now I have to do some "real" work to earn some money. The holidays are over now and school starts this week ;-(

Couriously there don't seem to exist so many. modabot posted a provisionale list of all fashion blogs located in Germany and/or written by Germans or in German. Among those was F&ART "der Kunstwissenschaftlerin und Galeristin Mahret Kupka ist derzeit eines der interessantesten deutschen Modeblogs, dem eine Mischung aus halb ironischem, halb ernstgemeintem Modekonsumismus und künstlerischem Anspruch gelingt." Berlin part 02 ::: Shopping 2007-04-27 23:45:00 After having breakfast (with my friend Sabinah and her son) at café/bar Blaues Band (we actually went there every morning - Berlin
is so f****** cheap!) at the Alte Schön hauser Allee we went shopping or at least looking at interessting stuff!!! First stop was the becks fashion experience store located at the other side of the street. Between March 29th and May 31st they show (in the former rooms of pro-qm bookstore which has moved!) many upcoming fashion designers like Marie-Louise Vogt (I've written about her earlier), q_e.d. und Tobias Bodio. Around the Alte Schönhauser Allee are many interessting shops. Next stop was FilippaK (they are very friendly et the Berlin store!) where I fell in love with a long brownish sleek somehow greek style dress which I planned to wear in my ex-boyfriends wedding next month, but then it somehow didn't look appropriate enough since he's an economist and all his friends and his future wife too and I don't want to look displaced in any way - jus Read more:Shopping
