What More Can I Say? 2008-08-17 01:00:00 SueS posted this on The Swap this past week:
With all the strangeness currently going on in the greater Christian community, this quote by CH Spurgeon is very appropriate:
"We shall not adjust our Bible to the age; but before we have done with it, by God's grace, we shall adjust the age to the Bible."Amy replied with this:
Amen and amen!! He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. I am going
Here a Meme, There a Meme,... 2008-08-16 00:07:00 As I make my way through Blogland, I'm always amazed at the memes available. There is something for everyone out there! I've seen a few blogs in which their posting is based upon memes every day. Neat idea, but it's not for me. That's why blogging is so great; every blogger can personalize their space.
I did find a meme that caught my attention and I plan to participate beginning next

The Skies Proclaim 2008-08-15 10:55:00 The guys had run to the city and so The Farmer Guy had me checking the irrigation wells. It's been very dry here, although that's a mixed blessing. We've had several storms, full of hail, pass to the north and south of us. We'd rather keep irrigating the cucumbers than lose the crop to hail damage.
Around 7PM I did a final check and TFG asked me to go shut down the wells and pivot on the

Things in My House: The Little Rocking Chair 2008-08-14 10:22:00 I chose this near-50 year old rocking chair to show you today. My parents purchased it when I was around a year and half. Dad worked for Red Spot Paint Store in Evansville, Indiana and they sold unfinished furniture. That was rather smart marketing for the store. Mom varnished the rocker and I loved it. Many years later, it had really darkened, so I stripped it and refinished it. The boys

Linkwise For You 2008-08-12 01:04:00 I thought that I'd list some of my favorite computer programs for making life on the internet better. These are five of the programs that get uploaded to every new computer in our home.
FireFox I can hardly use other browsers since downloading this one years ago. It's faster, safer, and well, it's better!AVG Anti-Virus I've used the free version of this program for years and have no

Special Awards 2008-08-12 00:19:00 I received a special award from two blogging friends. I want to thank Amy from On a Joyful Journey and Mommy Sweet Mommy for thinking of me! Your sweet words meant so much.
I am suppose to list seven (7) other blogs to receive this award. Well, that's just to difficult for me as I enjoy so many blogs. I don't want anyone to be left out in the blogging world. So, I hope that it's okay for

Save Your Back 2008-08-11 10:58:00 I've often said that I don't believe in the "left-leaning" antics of AARP and a large majority of their cover shots are of the same variety. I will admit that their magazine normally has informative articles. Many are applicable to life before turning 50, also.
The Farmer Guy receives the magazine since I wanted to take advantage of some discounts last year. As his spouse, I'm listed; however
Cardboard Testimonies 2008-08-10 08:00:00 What would your piece of cardboard say?
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23-24

Hollywood...I'm at a Loss for Words! 2008-08-09 08:00:00 I'm often on my soapbox for those with special needs. Many do not have advocates in their everyday life, but all available advocates are needed. Those with special needs are often a target which seems acceptable to many people. Why? Choosing to belittle and exploit other members of our population would never go this far.
So now Hollywood
is once again going to be a leader in creating new

Life at the Pickle Shed 2008-08-08 08:40:00 I wrote about growing the cucumbers and harvesting them, so now I'll show you what happens after they leave in the trucks. The cucumbers are taken to the Pickle
Shed and the trucks are weighed.
Yep, that's what everyone calls the place and it's only open during the cucumber growing and harvesting months.
During the remainder time, the workers are at the Pepper Shed or elsewhere. Potatoes

Things in My House Thursday: Dainty Pitcher 2008-08-07 11:12:00 One of the reasons that I blog is providing memories for family. It's also the reason that I decided to participate in this Thursday
meme. I realized that the memories behind many of my items were unknown to others in my family. I just haven't shared because I thought it would be boring, I guess. However, this way, when I'm gone, they can decide if an item could be a memory for them, too.

The Backyard Pool 2008-08-06 12:19:00 My internet is flaky today, so uploading the cucumber processing photos isn't going to happen right now. I'll get it done later this week.
We bought our first above ground pool when the girls were young. We were 30 miles from the nearest pool and in the middle of the country. We saved that for swimming lessons. That pool and the enclosure wasn't a cheap option, but it was the best for us.
Hey, You Found Me! Great! 2008-08-05 11:10:00 For those finding me through another source, I've moved from a different blog, but brought everything with me.
Hey, even you shy people should comment today. Please? :D
Oh, I've been unable to restore any of my comments. I have them backed up in a file, though, and that's good. Until they can be restored, well, I just look friendless, don't I?

Psalms 86:11 2008-08-03 10:35:00 Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name. Psalms
86:11May we all slow down and listen to Him. Quiet time with the Lord is very important in our walk. It's when we can hear His voice the clearest. We are able to concentrate on what He want for us. Be still.

Bloggy Giveaways! I Won! 2008-08-02 10:46:00 I've mentioned Bloggy Giveaways to you in the past. The quarterly events are just full of fun! I even participated and gave away one of my bracelets earlier this year. This time I won a $25 Barnes & Noble gift certificate from Because I Said So! and I received it! I realize that sounds tacky, but this is my 3rd win via the blog community and only the first prize that I've actually received.

Cucumber Harvesting 2008-08-01 13:52:00 The Farmer Guy told me that the harvesters were heading from the neighbor's field to our place that morning, so I headed out to get some cucumbers and take some pics. I picked the following cukes from the turn row; which is just the road through the field. I was surprised that those few plants had endured the heat of the wheat burn-off and pick up traffic. The harvesting, like the planting, is

The Cucumbers Are Nearing Harvest 2008-07-31 08:30:00 Actually, these particular cucumbers (60 acres) have been harvested and the land is being prepared for fall wheat planting. I'm just running behind in my posting of the events. We've been raising cucumbers for 14 years and it was quite a change from cotton, wheat, grain sorghum, sunflowers, corn, and alfalfa.Remember planting post from June 3rd? Things in My House Thursday: Lord's Supper Plaque 2008-07-31 08:19:00 Mommy Sweet Mommy is starting a new meme, "Things in My HouseThursday

My choice isn't my favorite item, but it does have meaning. I painted this 6" plaque in January 1986 for Grandma G's birthday. It was returned to me several years ago when she passed away. I realize that it's art and not scriptural, but the meaning of Jesus'

Big Changes Ahead For Us 2008-07-28 07:00:00 It's Sunday evening as I write this and I'm almost wondering if this is too personal to post. Thoughts of tomorrow are swirling through my head. I don't really understand why Monday seems to be such a milestone or perhaps lack thereof. Why is there sadness and relief at the same time; especially regarding something The Farmer Guy and I have discussed for a couple of years? After 16 1/2 years,
Who Holds Their Story? 2008-09-08 18:42:00 I'm getting a late start today since my internet has been down. Evidently there was an electrical fire at the main equipment building. Yikes! Well, they have me up and going now. This is another reason that I like to have my posts ready in advance.
The following post is in regards to our special needs children/youth/teens, however, it most definitely applies to all of us. When I'm gone, I hope
Devotional: Plentiful Harvest 2008-09-07 08:00:00 Plentiful Harvest
by Randy Chambers, 2008-08-31Matthew 9:37-38, NIV: Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
The people of Jesus' day were looking for answers. They had tried their religion and many had tried other religions as well. They were a nation believing
Analogies and Metaphors to Make You Laugh 2008-09-06 01:00:00 I'm not sure if these are actual student writings; however, they are still hilarious! I found nothing on snopes.com; my favorite site for checking urban legends.

Teaching Typing 2008-09-05 08:00:00 RD was taught typing by using Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing
. We loved it and I increased my speed using it. I especially enjoyed using the grocery checkout to practice typing numbers.
We no longer have a typing program that tests my speed, so I did a search for one. Type Racer was chosen and boy, is it fun! You can race against other people and a graph shows the real-time action of everyone's
Things in My House: Jenni's Cross Stitch 2008-09-04 13:20:00 Jenni gave a cross stitch to me for Christmas in 1992. Pictures were difficult as I had to avoid the glare of the flash. The gift is special because she made it for me, of course, and it was a thoughtful blessings theme, also. Greater meaning is that she made it during her junior year at college. You can imagine how busy she was during that time. She also made smaller stitchings for each of
