Survey Says... Dentist over Cleaning!
2008-07-25 09:37:44
iVillage just announced the results of a new poll comparing household cleaning to other chores. Turns out more than a quarter of the respondents said they would rather have a tooth drilled than clean their homes. And when it comes cooking, the majority (71%) said that they much prefer preparing food to cleaning up after the meal is done. I don't know about you guys, but I hate the dentist enoug

Eebee!!!
2008-07-21 11:12:00
So, I have recently discovered Eebee...  well, my son has!  I bought a bunch of gift cards at a silent auction this past week while I was out of town at a professional conference in Los Angeles.  One of the gift cards was for Barnes and Noble.  And yes, I had to go to Barnes as soon as I got back into town.  My husband and I started looking around for ourselves but as alwa

9 month stats!!
2008-07-09 10:36:09
My son just had his 9 month check up. He is 30.5 in and 26 lb! I guess for a 10 lb 7 oz birth size, this is normal but god he's a big kid! I spoke to the doctor about the spacing out of shots and she said not to worry and the worst of the shots were done at 2, 4, and 6 months so it's now he'll just get one here or one there. Still though, the fear the media has put into my head about shots and a

Any other mommy bloggers out there blogging remotely? I ask because iGoogle.com (google's answer to yahoo!'s personalized home pages) has got something new where you can post blogs on your iGoogle homepage. Then, you can also text message a blog post to your blog. Anyone try these? Are they worth it?

Kids and Dentist
2008-07-07 19:24:45
So my son turned 9 months old on Sunday and here we are starting to think about what's next. He has his 9 month check up on Wednesday (with shots of which I'm freaking out about because of all the talk about autism being caused by shots... but that's another blog for anotherd day). We have his first dentist appointment in 3 months too! My son can't stand having me brush his teeth twice a day let a

Pots and pans... that MIGHT work....
2008-07-01 11:26:18
Ok... anyone else fed up with pots and pans that don't work? I mean they cook the food but you are just so fed up with scrubbing, it's not funny?I am. I admit it. I hate cooking and part of it is cleaning up after myself. Have you ever burnt something or left the pasta on too long and BOOM... The pasta is stuck to the bottom of the pan? My pan's from college are still at the house and we us

CONTROL YOUR CHILDREN!
2008-06-27 21:22:29
Ok, I know I feel like I've been preaching about this for years and now that I have a kid, I feel like I'm entitled to having more of an opinion. Maybe I just have a really good kid but come on... parents need to control their children!First of all, we just got back from a Mexican Restaurant. We don't eat out a lot because of it being so darn expensive now just to fill up the gas tank so when we g

Mommy Issue: Online Bullies
2008-06-27 13:54:28
I was so happy to hear that the woman near St. Louis was going to be tried for the young girl's suicide 2 years ago after making a myspace.com page to degrade her. It makes me sick.I have myspace. My husband does too. And yes... my 9 month old has one as well. Why does my son have a myspace account? I don't know. Most of my friend's little ones have one and I think it's nice because people can see

In just 1 week... amazing what you miss if you blink!
2008-06-23 11:47:58
My son has just started to crawl. He also has just started to wave bye-bye! And then he's pulling himself up to send!! It happened over night... litterally. The crawling happened like you wouldn't believe. He has been trying to scoot but not the hand to leg motion, and then, all of the sudden, it happened. Then he started to wave bye bye at Matt's family picnic to everyone! We had never se

A smell to remember and innocence of elementary school
2008-06-13 14:52:31
As insightful as my last BLOG was, I had to write about it because I have been pondering that issue for a while! haha! The other thing that I've noticed that has stopped me in my tracks is smells. I've written about how beautiful the tree in front of SCI/BU was this spring and the smell overwhelmed me, but here recently, the smell of freshly cut grass made me stop in my tracks. I closed my eyes and

The POO factor!!
2008-06-13 14:40:25
So my husband and I were getting ready this morning and our son... who is now crawling!!... made some grunting sounds. Yes, you know where this is going! Next thing I knew, my husband wanted to check he was dirty before leaving for the day care provider and he jumped back and his eyes began to water! I know I'm lucky that my husband changes diapers... in fact, he changes more diapers than I!

Mommy LOVE: Foss Art and Noah Print
2008-06-05 15:42:33
So, Springfield had an art fair downtown a few weeks ago. We ordered from this artist a 3 piece spread of Noah's animals getting onto the ship, the animals on the boat and a scene of them getting off the boat. The photo here is one of the 3 scenes of the picture we ordered and she put together for us with a white mat. I LOVE IT!!! Her art is so artistic and sooooo colorful. She mailed it the

"If not your son, if not my son, than whose"
2008-06-05 14:55:59
For the record, my BLOG post that I posted yesterday was not meant to be a unique thought of why do we have war, but rather my thought of the moment. I don't believe too many people have earth shattering unique ideas in the blogosphere but those of you who believe you do... more power to you. My little BLOG is meant to highlight the world as I see it as a mother and serve as a forum. I appreci

Political Mommy: My Son, war, gun violence and society...
2008-06-04 10:13:53
I guess I'm sitting here with my radio on listening to a country station (yes, I like country, Top 40 and the wiggles! haha!). A song just came on about a soldier who "laid his gun down, watching over you now, war was just a game he played as a child, and he's already home (aka, heaven)." Wow, what a powerful message. I guess as we've past the 5 year mark in this war, it's even more powerful.

Mommy Web Site: Replace the missing crystal!!!!
2008-06-03 12:51:28
Did your child break your crystal vase? Did your floral designer from your wedding loose one of your Waterford Crystal unity candle holders after using them for someone elses wedding? Did you drop one of those plates from your mother's china collection? My story is from my past floral designer loosing one of my pieces and now I'm stuck trying to replace a crystal piece from a waterford set that

Mommy Topic: Sittercity??
2008-05-28 15:24:00
Has anyone out there used sittercity.com? Why am I hesitant to use it? I feel like I'm online dating! You know... you look at a photo, a short paragraph about themselves and some statistics but rather than if they are 5'10, blonde/blue... you are looking at what age they will sit and what times they are available. Is this a little too far out there or is it a good idea? In theory, I guess i

Springfield is on the map.... litterally....
2008-08-06 09:31:01
So I heard rumbles of this yesterday and then my dear hubby e-mails me to look up our address in the Springfield area on google. There it is on the street view! Ok, so not that I am overly entertained by it... oh but wait, I am! Very interesting. I have to laugh too that our lawn looks good but our neighbors downt he street have that giant boat in their front yard. At least the next door nei

First Birthday Party... Are they really worth it?
2008-08-05 12:51:18
So here I am...  thinking about my son's 1st birthday in 2 months.  I don't want to host a big party...  that's really not our style.  We are actually going to Maine for a week in my in-laws the week before my son's birthday so we'll celebrate it there...  nice and quietly.  But some have been talking about his first birthday party.  Do I really need to host one?
