Defining who you are... the multiple roles we all have
2008-07-28 14:30:20
Hey everyone! So my thoughts today while I eat my lunch at the office (seemingly the only time I can BLOG is on my lunch... go figure!) is defining who I am. We all carry these titles. I've written about them before too in a past blog. Well, here I am pondering this yet again. Why? Because I am one of those people that take on too much. Yes, I am. I guess I am happy to claim this... maybe. Extrem

Pregnancy Brain ... or just another Blonde day?
2008-08-21 16:10:15
Is it just me, or is being pregnant the most confusing and frustrating time of your life...  or what? So all in a matter of minutes, I walked up to my co-worker's desk asking a question and in mid sentence, I lost what I was talking about.  I think of something and go to look something up on google and once google comes up...  the thought is gone.  I get up with my water bottl

What a blessing...Baby #2 is on the way!
2008-08-18 16:18:02
So the higher power at be has a strange sense of humor!  My father always said if you want to make God laugh, make plans.  So here we are...  making "plans" and we found out Saturday we're expecting number 2.  Not to say we haven't thought about another child and even thought we might try thinking it might take a while to get pregnant.  Yeah...  1 month later, we're e

Lessons Learned from Buying Life Insurance
2008-08-13 14:05:21
1) Don't sky dive (sorry Michelle).. Don't scuba dive... don't do anything (or admit to it) that will throw your life into an early death!2) Don't shop for life insurance while pregnant or just after having kids. They are ruthless about the fact you have a few extra pounds on you. Ok, so I gained a few with Caden but I've lost half of it and it's still coming off. Either way though, I have

Poison Control, Ant Trap, and a Bunch of Neighbors
2008-09-17 16:53:43
Poison Control 's Web Site and Number: and 1-800-222-1222 So I'll try to make this brief but we almost killed our kid the other day. 2 nights ago while making my son a bottle, I saw him come around the corner with an ant trap in his mouth that my dear husband placed on the kitchen floor (and forgot to pick up) from the prior night when a million ants decided to invade our kitchen. Yep, I p

Last Will vs. Living Trust vs. Living Will
2008-09-13 17:42:35
WHAT THE HELL IS THE DIFFERENCE?  I've been trying to figure that out for a year now.  We made a Will with the birth of our first son and now that we have baby #2, we have to add them onto it.  Well, come to find out that our will would have had to have gone through probate court in the event of our deaths.  Now, I understand this is all very morbid of a topic, but it came up b

Family Pets DO Get Sick... and answering "Where did Mr. Wags Go?"
2008-09-13 17:13:35
So I'll keep this one short and sweet because it breaks my heart.  I remember when I was a kid and I came home one fateful day in Kindergarten and Benny was gone.  I asked that question...  Where did Benny Go and my mother just broke down and balled.  Ok, I guess that happened to a friend of mine the other day.  Their dog, we'll call him Mr. Wags, got cancer and was in pai

Professional Maternity Clothes versus WHAT??
2008-09-09 14:33:12
What are my options again?  Typically ugly clothes that don't fit this time around (thanks to the 60 lbs I put on because of my first pregnancy) or the fact I'm going to be preggers through winter this time rather than summer. Someone told me the other day while she was wearing a baggy looking bohemian style shirt...  you are so lucky that this is the style now!  Ok...  no off

Funny Mommy: This is what marriage is really about...
2008-09-05 10:27:26
This is what marriage is really all about…He ordered one hamburger, one order of French fries and one drink. The old man unwrapped the plain hamburger and carefully cut it in half. He placed one half in front of his wife. He then carefully counted out the French fries, dividing them into two piles and neatly placed one pile in front of his wife. He took a sip of the drink, his wife took a sip an

"The Cell Phone Ate My Homework", said the child!
2008-09-02 12:00:07
Yes, I know people have told me I live in the "yuppie" part of our city...  big deal right?  Well, I feel the urge to explain that every child on my way to drop my son off at day care...  had a cell phone.  Some were talking on it and others were texting ...  all while waiting for the bus.  Very few were talking to one another.  Now, explain to me how this makes

Springfield Mommy: Dana-Thomas House Closing?!
2008-08-29 11:35:26
Thank you Governor Blagojevich...  We are so grateful you have taken this state to the next level!  Closing our local attractions will surely be the best thing for everyone!  NOT! So Channel 20 news reported this morning that the State of Illinois is closing the Dana-Thomas House in Springfield after the Gov cut the budget 1.8 billion this year!  Well, I also heard they are

Doggy Mommy: Saving $ on that Dog!

Political Mommy: Watching Hillary, Chelsea is next!
2008-08-26 22:18:06
I don't care if you like, love or hate Hillary , but I am watching her speak as we speak and wow... she's a great speaker. She ran an amazing race and she really did put 18 million cracks in that glass ceiling. Good for you Hillary... good for you. In watching it, it moved me to tears (maybe it was just pregnancy hormones) watching Bill Clinton tear up as she spoke and it touched me watching Chel

The High Price of Fashion... for as long as the clothes fit the kid!
2008-08-26 17:06:35
So I drove my 10 month old son to daycare today and I saw more kids in American Eagle, Abercrombie, etc type clothes...  why does this bother me...  well, one shirt that fits a child today won't fit next week.  They grow like bad weeds!  So, is there a point in buying these items?  What about buying them second hand?  I guess you could get these items at a second ha

2008-10-04 09:12:35
So we have spent the last week in New England traveling for vacation with my one year old son, pregnant, my husband and in-laws. They have been very wonderful and generous through out the whole trip. We went to many little towns, sailing, hiking, canoeing, and just enjoying the experience. But I learned in Maine this week... 1. Most of Maine doesn't use Cingular/ AT&T. They all have us cellul

National Stay at Home Week??? Says Who? ABC!
2008-09-24 06:50:00
I guess I'm neither for this or against it, but I find it funny that ABC...  the TV station...  proclaimed it "National Stay at Home Week!"  Who are they to claim this?  I guess so they get great ratings for their TV shows as they launch into the fall seasons.  I'll admit, I watched TV last night...  a good 2 hours worth (I love dancing with the stars and since my g

Teacher in life and the classroom... remember when...
