Respect To The Evil One 2007-03-20 15:40:00 I’ve just got to share this amazing news with you so read on…
I’m assuming that you have heard of the blogging guru John Chow or the Evil One as he is sometimes better known in the Blogosphere. If not, take a look at my previous posts about his site in Go Go Johnny Chow and Make Money Online With Mr Evil.
That last post explained how he was running an experiment to target the very lucrative and greatly searched keyword phrase of ‘Make Money Online’. Well less than 4 short days after starting the project he has already made page 1 of Google search results!! Incredible!!
Have a look at his updated report on his site, where he gives an insight into how he achieved this remarkabkle feat and further explains how to make money online by feeling the power of the anchor text.
By the way, this post will be published at 14:30 ish GMT in order to create fresh content for our western world friends, as explained in my What’s The Best Time To Post? article.

What’s The Best Time To Post ? 2007-03-20 02:00:26 In this 24 hour online world I have always wondered what is the best time to publish a new post on a blog? Remember that WordPress has a wonderful Post Timestamp feature that enables you to ’make live’ any pre-written post at any later date or time. So you can be safely tucked up in bed whilst a new post appears on your home page.
Anyway I’ll be out of the office tomorrow until late afternoon tomorrow and so this is an ideal opportunity to use the ‘Post Timestamp’ feature available in WordPress. I am writing this post around 20:00 hours (GMT) here in the UK on 19th March but the post will go live at 01:00 GMT on 20th March. Why that time? Well for starters that gives me a new post in a new day of the year which always looks good to the new visitor but also I can target the countries of some of my readership.
Google Analytics informs me that a lot of my readers are from the far east countries of India, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan etc. and I am aware that
Make Money Online With Mr Evil 2007-03-19 19:00:14 Mr Evil himself John Chow is just started running a very interesting exercise over on his blog. What makes it interesting? Money
, money, money!
You may remember that I pointed out how John was running a review my blog for a linkback offer, well now he’s taken the whole thing a step further and attempting to cash in on obtaining a high SERPs position for the very, very lucrative keywords of make money online. He is still offering to give a free valuable linkback from his PR4 blog in exchange for a simple review of his blog on your site but has changed the rules for the review ever so slightly to help in his new quest.
As you may have already gathered the keywords ‘make money online’ is also my ultimate target, hence my chosen domain tomakemoneyonline.net. So I’ll be keeping a close eye on John’s latest evil plan!
John’s blog goes from strength to strength and he never seems to be short of a new idea or money making plans. He regularly posts around 4
What is a Word Cloud Site? 2007-03-19 14:43:09 Several days ago I splashed out a huge amount of money when I purchased a permanent PR5 link for $1.99! Ok so it’s quite a small amount of money and it was a pure impulse decision, made quite quickly and the relative merits of my purchase will be discovered over time.
Well I must admit I was kind of curious to the service offered by the website who sold me the link. So I decided to do a little digging and discovered that the service is connected to the concept of Word Cloud
s. This post provides an insight into the wonderful world of Word Cloud
sites.
A Word Cloud site enables you to buy a text link on their pages that links back to your own website home page. This text backlink can be a single word or a group of words connected with your site and the links anchor text will also contain your keyword(s). A limited number of words are available on a page and these are sold by the owners for a small sum payable usually via paypal. The links back can be customised with color, size et
Write In A Notebook 2007-03-19 12:02:36 In this technological, fast moving internet world it is often easy to fall into the trap that all your thoughts and actions must be conducted and captured electronically, such as in a PC or a personal organiser.
However some of your best ideas and thoughts will come to you at any time of the day and night, often away from your computer and that’s why you should always carry a small notebook and pencil around with you. It does not have to be a very big notebook, the smaller and more compact the better but you will find getting into the habit of carrying one very beneficial.
Sure you can go for the techy use of a personal digital recorder but I have never felt easy using one of those and much prefer the written approach. It’s also easier to review your written words and make further notes or ideas on a written page.
For bloggers, write down ideas for a new post, that way you have always have a ready supply of subject matter to blog about and ultimately gain the benefits of i Read more:Write

List Of Search Engine Robots 2007-03-17 23:33:26 Like me you probably read your website visitor statistics with great interest, especially those all important visits by the search engines’s indexing robot agents often termed crawlers or spiders.
Recently I have noticed that the number of different robots visiting my site has increased. The major spiders such as Googlebot, Yahoo Slurp and MSNbot have been regular visitors from the start but newer arrivals have now appeared.
These are obviously very welcome visitors but I must admit I have had to google a few of them to find out where these spiders are from. Recent visitors have included Gigabot, Moreoverbot and IRLbot with google quickly informing me of their ownership details.
I did discover a site that displays a comprehensive list of the search engine robots, which shows the robot owner, information, IP addresses etc and no doubt I will find this a very valuable resource in the future.

Join Forums To Promote Your Blog 2007-03-16 18:20:40 In the early days of a new blog not many people out there will be aware of you and your site so good promotion techniques are a must.
One of the best free promotion strategies that you can implement is to use Forums
and Message Boards to spread the word about your site. Most forums allow you to add a signature to the end of your posts which you can then use to state your all important website url (with possibly an additional piece of text to describe your sites niche). In a bid to keep out spamming websites, some forums require you to go through a trial period of say 10 new posts before allowing you to add a signature.
Also the popular large forums have a high google page rank and so a post in that forum, with your url signature in that post, counts as a inward pointing link from a high PR site.
Not only are you gaining exposure for your site but as discussed in a previous post you are engaging in the online community and talking to your fellow bloggers. This can be good for the Read more:Promote
Buying Permanent PR5 link for $1.99 2007-03-16 14:03:20 All the experts agree that getting inward pointing links from high PR sites helps to dramatically boost your own sites rankings in the major search engines.
Well I was browsing around the latest posts in the Digital Point Forums and came across the headline ‘Permanent PR5 Links starting from just 1.99 USD’. Now that caught my eye and I decided to investigate.
The PR5 links can be bought from KiskyNetMedia.com that operates from India. Its home page is a link cloud site that seems to have half of its allocated 250 links already sold and the members on the Digital Point Forum seem well pleased with their purchases.
So being the sceptical so and so that I am, I ran the site through my google toolbar, a couple of SEO PR ranking tools, looked at the sites indexed and backlinked pages etc.
Well everything seems to be confirmed, the PR5 status is confirmed although the site has not many pages indexed in the major search engines but does have some strong inlinks from other sites. Read more:Buying
Applying for a listing in DMOZ 2007-03-15 15:01:20 This blog has been around for about 2 months now and has a good fair number of posts under its belt. So I have decided that now is a good time to submit ToMakeMoneyOnline.net to the DMOZ Directory operated by the Open Directory Project.
The DMOZ directory is the largest human-edited directory of the web and inclusion in its database requires an individual review by that human editor who decides that your website has sufficient quality and value to be included in its pages.
Inclusion in the DMOZ directory is seen as a massive boost to the overall importance of your site especially with the major search engines who consider a DMOZ listing as a quality vote for your site from a trusted independent third party source. DMOZ has a very high google page ranking of PR8 and an inbound link from a PR8 site is very, very desirable thank you very much.
I have seen warnings on a lot of sites suggesting that all forms of advertising and most affiliate linking should be removed from a website
MSN Does Not Like Me 2007-03-22 19:51:51 For some reason I just don’t seem to be able to have most of the pages of this blog indexed in the MSN Search Engine.
Google and Yahoo robots are very frequent visitors and I have hundreds of pages indexed in their search engines (also thanks to my translated language pages). However I only have a handful of pages listed at MSN and it’s beginning to bug me.
You may remember that I attempted to inform MSN to come and look at my blog more frequently by using MyMSN but had problems adding my website rss feed to MyMSN. Well in a nutshell that exercise seems to have not worked with MSN even though I did manage to add my feed to the MSN owned Windows Search Engine Live.com. As a further twist the exercise I conducted with Yahoo, detailed in my post fast indexing in Yahoo, has been very successful with hundreds of pages now indexed in the main Yahoo Search Engine.
Does anyone out there have any ideas, tips or information on pleasing MSN or is a case of wait and be patient while th
Online Blog Directory Submission 2007-03-22 15:39:13 Apologies for not posting yesterday and before you ask, yes I was busy at the PC working on this blog conducting online directory submissions.
I spent most of yesterday submitting this To Make Money Online blog and RSS feed to various Blog Directories and RSS Feed Directories. To raise the search engine ranking and Page Rank (PR) of your own site, mine is currently a low PR0, you must obtain good quality incoming inks from other sites with a high PR. Blog directories usually carry a PR4 to PR6 and are a good way to raise the ranking of your site. Also your blog will benefit from users searching that blog directory directly for terms or topics relating to your site so it’s a win, win situation for you.
After researching for the best blog directories to submit to, I eventually worked through the list on Robin Good’s site, which detailed the Best Blog Directory
And RSS Submission
Sites. An excellent list which gives a summary of each directory, the submission process and mo Read more:Online Blog

More Blog Directory And RSS Lists 2007-03-23 13:13:18 Since I conducted my recent online blog directory submissions exercise, I have now discovered a couple of more excellent blog directory and rss list resources. Remember you can obtain valuable one way page links from being listed in blog directories as well as gaining new readers who visit these directories.
Some entires in the list are not directories but RSS Feeder services and these usually have a very simple submission process of providing feed url and email only. So again submit your blog feed to as many RSS feeders as possible to spread the word on your blog.
These extra resources are:-

EBay Offers Blogging Tool 2007-03-26 17:12:53 I must admit that it has been a while since I listed items for sale on eBay recently but a need to de-clutter a room in the house led to some recent frantic listing.
So I was interested to discover that eBay now has a newish tool for it’s sellers, a Blogging
Service where sellers can create and post to their own blog on eBays own site. The blog service can be found at http://blogs.ebay.com or the uk version at http://blogs.ebay.co.uk.
Seems a great idea as it provides serious sellers another vehicle to shout about their products and to offer advice and information in finer detail and best of all its free. EBay has this to say about their blogs:
‘An eBay Blog (web log) gives you an online publishing tool to share your opinions with the rest of the eBay Community. Blogs can be used for a variety of purposes: to enhance an eBay Shop, share personal experiences or talk about collectables you like to buy on eBay. Are You In Google’s Supplemental Index 2007-03-27 16:15:20 Did you know that Google
has two indexes in which your website pages could be listed? One is good but the other is bad so read on to see which is which.
A quick query in Google of the command site:yourdomain.com will return the number of pages that Google has indexed from that domain. However on closer inspection you will probably see that some of these pages will be labelled with the extra wording ’supplemental result’. Having pages in the Supplemental Index
is not good as Google sees these pages as second rate, not sure about, possibly duplicate etc. Basically Google will only return these pages to a searcher AFTER returning all other non-supplemental results.
My research for this article led me to the respected SEO guru Aaron Wall. He has posted a great article on this subject on his blog titled View all your Google Supplemental Results.
To quote Aaron:
Pages that are in the supplemental index are placed there because they are trusted less. Since they are crawled
MSN Does Like Me 2007-03-27 03:30:30 If there is one thing that I have leant already in my battles with the major search engines, then that is to have patience, patience and more patience.
As far as having the pages of this blog indexed in the major search engines, Google and Yahoo have been family friends, MSN has been distant relatives. I have highlighted my MSN woes in two previous posts MSN does not like me and problems adding website rss feed to My MSN and I was beginning to give up on the giant.
Well the good news is that I just managed to add my RSS feed to MyMSN. Unlike in many, many previous attempts, the search facility in MyMSN was now actually able to find this blogs feed in it’s database i.e. http://tomakemoneyonline.net/feed/. Once found in the search results, a simple click and my feed is now part of my own personal page. So this site’s feed is now subscribed to in both of Microsoft’s engines i.e MSN and Live.
So why has this problem resolved itself after 4 weeks of frustration? I can o
Internet Explorer vs FireFox Issues 2007-03-29 11:50:16 I am still trying to discover the best medium in which to write and edit the posts of this blog. I have used Notepad, Texpad and MS Word but after a few problems, I have plumped for the plain old in-built editor that comes within WordPress. I’ll explain the incident that resulted in me choosing this editor.
I must admit to using both of the popular browsers, Microsoft’s InternetExplorer
and Mozilla’s Firefox, to write, edit and view my posts for this blog. I have various plug-ins and tools in each browser, some of which are not transferable and as a result, my currently open browser will depend on my PC activities at that time.
However I once used Microsoft Word to write a post, opened Firefox and used WordPress’s upload facility to import the newly crafted post into the blog. After previewing the new post in Firefox, everything looked OK and I hit the publish button and thought that was that.
However the next day I went to check my blog for comments, opened up Read more:Issues

Even More Web Directory Lists 2007-03-28 13:56:05 I have managed to find two more resources that detail large lists of blog directories that will accept your blog or website submission. These lists provide additional and different directories from those already highlighted in my two previous lists Blog Directory
List and Blog Directory and RSS Feeds List.
The first new web directory list can be found at Vilesilencer.com. This is a highly maintained list which shows hundreds of directories with accompanying information such as PR of the directory, free or paid for service, reciprocal link required etc.
The second web directory list can be found at SEOCompany.ca. This excellent site has in effect a list of directory lists, providing a massive resource of directories to submit to. There are paid for web directory lists, free directory lists, non-reciprocal free web directories etc.
However the best feature on this page is a huge list of 257 directories that is sortable by PR, price, number of Google/Yahoo/MSN inbound links, Alexa Ranking Read more:Lists

Do Not Monetize Your Blog Too Soon. 2007-03-30 16:54:42 When should you start to monetize your blog? There are arguments for monetizing your blog right from the word go but in my opinion this is a mistake. There is a chance that you will not only alienate your early readers but there are distinct advantages to leaving your blog relatively ad free at the start of its life.
Blog Directories and General Directories have a huge bias against accepting websites that display a large number of advertising and revenue making text. By resisting the desire to place advertising everywhere, you are vastly increasing your chances of these important directories accepting your site for inclusion in their publication.
In my opinion, the addition of too much initial advertising, affiliate linking and general monetization will adversely affect the chances of your blog being accepted by blog directories and general directories.
In completing online blog directory submissions you are looking to receive those all important inward pointing links from the respecte Read more:Monetize

Belated April Fool To Me 2007-04-03 18:10:06 I must admit that I’ve been really busy on other projects over the last few days. As a consequence I have not been checking out my favourite blogs via bookmarks or feed. Boy was I surprised when I surfed over to John Chows Blog.
John had sold up! A few days ago he had posted My Last Blog Post where he explained that he had accepted a huge amount of money for his company, which included his blog, other editors would now be taking over, and he was off travelling the world.
I was gob smacked. I knew he was good but was awestruck that he had sold up already and done a runner, the traitor. I scrolled down to see how fellow bloggers were reacting to the news and saw a mixture of congratulation messages, others saying come and visit me, all the best John and then …. nice April
Fool John!
John came clean the next day confirming the deception. Ok so I was caught out hook, line and sinker. In my defence today is 3rd April so I was off my guard (yeah I know rubbish excuse).
So John,
The Best Free Web Directory List In The World? 2007-04-05 19:35:23 As you may be aware from previous posts such as Even More Web Directory

Time To Increase Monetization 2007-04-10 23:57:51 This blog has been established for just over 3 months now and right from the start I decided to hold back on swamping this site with wall to wall adverts and money making channels.
The main reason for the low key advertising was my decision to concentrate on providing content, to gradually build traffic and to secure listings in blog directories and general directories. All three of these areas would be better served with little to no advertising or monetization channels.
Presently only google adsense is being used to generate income on this site and even that is being used very sparingly with just a single text adsense unit at the top of each post.
Well, now that several months of content has been posted, now that traffic is steadily increasing and now that many blog and general directory listings have been secured and obtained, the time has now come to gradually increase the money making potential of this site and diversify into some more varied income generating methods.
Tomorrow, I
