Productive Day
2008-06-04 22:00:04
Yesterday sucked. I was not able to think straight, so I left work relatively early. I ran 6.5 miles around the Reservior. Not too much to speak of, other than I was tired and fatigued all day. I also bought some treatments for my left ear, which has been closed up on me for some time now. I can only hear ~20-40% out of this ear when it's closed. It constantly oozes wax. The fact that I hav

This Weekend
2008-06-01 19:23:35
This weekend has been so-so thus far. Friday I left work early at about 3:30 PM with body aches and diarrhea. I think I got food poisoning from a Reuben sandwich I ate for lunch the day before. Oh well, at least the sandwich was good. I went to bed early Friday night, still feeling sickly. I got up early Saturday morning, feeling much better, and I ran 6.5 miles at the Reservoir. I then worke

Long time no post. I have been so busy at work and I haven't had the time to publish any posts. Lately, in the little spare time I have, I've been scouring Google Maps and playing with all the new and exciting features available. To see the full list of maps, go to the Google maps directory at and click on the map(s) of your choice (there are hundreds of maps, so just click "Next-->" on the bo

A Place to Call My Own
2008-05-08 10:35:20
I started my housing search yesterday, looking for a living space to call my own. I am looking for an apartment in an ok neighborhood that I can afford. My number one goal here is to be independent of room mates altogether. Unfortunately, I signed a new lease on our old house, so I will be responsible for finding a new house mate to take my place if and when I move out. I am looking forward to

May Gray
2008-05-07 14:44:31
Here I sit, looking out my window at work from my cubicle. The sky is thick with clouds, and the weather is not supposed to improve at all over the next week. If you don't believe me, check out this link. The May Gray is here, soon to give way to June Gloom, the two most depressing months of the year for San Diego. Morning and evening drizzle combined with dark, cold, breezy afternoons are a f

Confused As Ever
2008-05-05 09:55:29
The week is again coming to a close, and I have not accomplished a single think at work. I'm having trouble gauging my superiors and getting a feel for what they expect of me. I work really hard when I have a well-defined set of tasks to accomplish, but that's not the case most of the time. Oh well, I'll just go with it and see what happens.I have not been doing any fitness this week so far.

Long Time No Post
2008-04-29 15:20:16
I have been pretty busy these past couple of weeks, and I am now taking the rest of my lunch break at work to post. I was extremely busy last week at work but was still able to keep my fitness up to par. Most of the house mates went camping for the weekend, so I was forced to entertain myself Saturday and Sunday.Saturday, I ran around Miramar Reservoir in 95-degree heat and almost did not make i

"Poor" Dental Hygiene?
2008-04-22 17:54:13
I'm going to take today off from running to concentrate on getting some errands run after work. Today is Joey's birthday, so I hope to be home by 6 or 7 so the house mates and I can take him out for a drink or two. We shall see.Work is going ok, I guess. In this department, there is a lot to know and much more work to be done for each individual project. I am highly dependent on my superiors f

Fun at the Dentist
2008-04-21 10:05:54
I am really looking forward to my dental appointment today at 2 PM. Well, not really. I think I'd rather work during that time. I should be fine; I take good care of my mouth to keep dental hygiene good. This past weekend was a good combination of fitness and chores, but not very relaxing. Saturday I worked my arms in the gym and hit the batting cages at Stadium Golf with Joey. I was able to g

Friday night, the room mates and I went bar hopping in Pacific Beach. Not too much to talk about there. I am becoming thoroughly sick of drinking and the way it makes me feel. Even thought I don't get trashed on a regular basis anymore, I'm just sick of the whole scene and what drinking does to people. I got my first tan of the year on Saturday, when Joey and I went to Del Mar Dog Beach (the on

Padres vs Dodgers @ Petco Park 4/5/08 PHOTOS UPLOADED!
2008-04-08 21:16:13
I finally uploaded the photos I took at the Padres game at Petco Park on Saturday, April 5. We sat right behind the Dodgers ' dugout on the left side of the field. Below is the link. weather was nice and the view was one of the best sight these eyes have ever beheld. The matchup was Peavy vs Penny, and Peavy ended up throwing a complete game 2-hitter. Damn, what a game!

Contemplating the Weekend
2008-04-03 11:40:20
I am getting excited about the upcoming weekend. I am going to pick up my brother from Rancho Cucamonga on Friday night and bring him home with me. We are going to attend the Padres vs. Dodgers at Petco Park Saturday afternoon and bar hop/ see the sights downtown afterwards. This should be fun.I'm in the process of getting back into my old workout groove, alternating days with gym one day and r

Friday night my house mate Ben I went to the Angels vs. Padres at Petco park and got to see my two favorite teams battle it out. The Padres won the game. It was a great experience being able to see them both on the field at the same time.Saturday morning, we all got up an drove to Pismo Oceano Dunes Park in Central California. The place was very windy in the daytime and sand blew everywhere. S

Dramatic Changes
2008-03-27 17:31:00
A few days ago I started taking a multivitamin, and it has dramatically changed my life. Since I started taking it, I wake up feeling refreshed, I can think clearly, I no longer feel chronic fatigue, drowsiness and depression, I feel clean, with no itchy, burning, dry eyes, and my complexion has improved greatly. I am no longer sweaty and pale and I can see better. My life has surely changed.

Getting the Fitness Back on Track
2008-03-26 10:41:00
Yesterday I was able to exploit our increasingly longer days here in the Northern Hemisphere. After work, I went home, stretched and went to Miramar Reservoir for a 5-mile run. I ran the 5 mile faster than I have since my routine got messed up last May (when my knees went bad). But with better stretching techniques and longer delays between runs, I hope to be better able to control knee pain du

Better Sleep = Better Life
2008-03-25 11:19:17
I slept like a baby last night, and for the first time in a long time, I feel really good. Instead of surfing the net last night looking at stocks before bed, I read my latest book by Howard Zinn, A People's History of the United States: 1492- Present, a left-winged socialist view of American history. An interesting book from a different perspective, it's a good before-bed reader. I can get my

Last Weekend
2008-03-24 15:21:27
This past weekend sucked big time. Two of my room mates left for the weekend so I was left with the one room mate with whom I do the least. We went to get tacos on Saturday at Tacos el Gordo in National City, home of the bast tacos I have ever eaten. The rest of the day was spent relaxing. Sunday (Easter) I woke up, got groceries, and got really drunk out of boredom. I got so drunk I could ha

Early Bird
2008-03-21 08:53:15
I went into work early this morning because our street will be closed for resurfacing from 7 AM to 5 PM. My house mates were up early this morning as well. I'm usually alone before going to work.Due to work constraints, I was unable to get to the gym last night. I hope I can get to it tonight.I also need to do something about my drowsiness. I get really drowsy around 2 or 3 PM and it doesn't e

New Boss
2008-03-17 10:24:54
Today I start with a new manager in a new department. It should be a nice step up. I came in an hour later after sleeping in until 7 AM. I'm going to make a habit out of this routine from now on.I went home early Friday as a going away present from my old manager. I then attended a going away lunch for a coworkerThe weekend was good. I spent Saturday evening at a coworker's house in Chula Vis

Back to Normal
2008-02-27 09:30:08
My routine is finally back to normal. After work, I went to the gym, and afterwards ran (4 miles). I spent about 3 hours researching stocks, but since my account is still on hold (first deposit), I can't buy anything. I'm excited about being able to finally start buying sometime this week. If my expectations are correct, my "part time job" will be a pretty good supplement to my primary income

First Day of Work After A Long Vacation
2008-08-12 22:18:15
I had the "first day back" blues today, going back to work after a long vacation. It was definitely not easy. I spent the first half of the day doing little more than HPLC cleanup and updating my training files. I am in charge of ~1/4 of my facility's HPLC systems, which includes assigning, cleaning, corresponding with metrology when internal parts go foul, and all HPLC maintenance pertaining t

Long Time No Blog (Again)
2008-08-11 16:55:18
I just returned from a very long vacation in Bend, Oregon, visiting the parents for two weeks. I drove there and back, totaling over 2100 miles (San Diego-Rancho Cucamonga-Bend-Rancho Cucamonga-San Diego). My niece came with me to keep me company. I learned how to fly-fish with my dad, and we hiked all over the area. I had my birthday while on my visit, and we ate at a nice fish restaurant on

New Apple iPhone!
2008-09-04 12:08:29
My AT&T wireless contract expired yesterday, so I took time after work to go renew the contract and get a brand new 3G 8 Gigabyte iPhone at my AT&T dealer. The expiration of my old contract coincided with the arrival of the new iPhone 3G's at AT&T stores. They were formerly available only from Apple .This thing is faster than my laptop, has a crystal-clear screen with weird special ef

Five Miler
2008-09-02 22:32:42
Today was a pretty lousy day at work. I ended up leaving early again (only 8 hours of work) after finding out from a customer that our results from yet another project were unacceptable. We will have to perform the assay on a different piece of equipment (fifth time's a charm!). Usually, when I first hear news like that, I get extremely upset. But then it all sinks in that we are scientists, p

Weekends Made for Fun?
2008-09-01 15:26:42
Saturday was spent at work, since we were unable to complete our end of the month projects. I worked about 7 hours, and called it a day. Saturday evening was spent watching "Psycho," a 1960 horror/thriller. This is the first time I have ever seen this particular movie, and it was a good one. The acting is superb, and the setting is chilling. I also turned to a six-pack of beer, instantly maki
