Good Thyroid!
2008-07-12 07:47:38
We got the test results back on JR late yesterday afternoon and they came back NORMAL. Thank goodness! So, all is well with his thyroid. In other JR news, he has started spitting up a lot. A LOT. I am thinking that he is somehow eating too much when he nurses. For one, he eats so fast that I am thinking perhaps he doesn't realize he is full until he is way past full...but I dunno. I will have to a

A Month of Thyroid Fun
2008-07-11 06:53:46
Well, actually not so fun, especially for JR. We had a bit of chaos (go figure) with JR's blood tests at the hospital. This is what happened:*We changed pediatricians because our old one quit taking the kind of insurance we have*Switched to new pediatrician, not so sure I like them yet...*Had JR, gave the hospital the new pediatrician info*MET the new pediatrician, they checked out JR and cleared

I was quite lucky to get a CD of all the pictures Monika took, and I am super excited to see what kind of newborn pictures she will take. Now to just set up a time for her to come when BOTH kids will be happy....Subscribe to The Zerens

Inside My Parenting
2008-07-08 07:33:45
Today has again started out great. I am dressed, the kids are still sleeping, Eddie (the dog) is outside playing with bugs, and it looks like we will make it to the park before 10am, when it gets hot. I have, so far today, been successful in getting my goals done. Wonderful!! My friend, Andrea, told me recently that she admired me for being such a great parent, and that she hoped she would be a pa

They don't quite fit..
2008-07-07 12:54:17
New Born diapers that don't quite fit...is there anything cuter? The diapers were so bit we had to fold down the tops and pull the sides in extra. But, judging by how much and how often JR eats, I have a feeling the newborn outfits and diapers will be fitting very soon! His umbilical cord finally fell off a few days ago, so now we can give him a real bath! So far, the sponge bath was not too bad a

Happy 4th of July!!
2008-07-04 09:18:43
Yay! It is the 4th of July! Last night was great, and Little Dude had a fabulous time dancing to the symphony and watching the fireworks! Also, breastfeeding in my sling went FANTASTIC! Super yay! I have to say, my big problem was trying to have JR in the cradle hold while nursing....it went MUCH better having him in a semi-upright position. Thanks, Steph, for the tip! I also have to say, that a b

Last night was ROUGH, to say the least. I think the problem was NOT swaddling JR. He had napped just find throughout the day unswaddled, and because I worry about him over heating with the thick swaddle blanket on, I thought putting him in his sleep sack would be awesome. No. About 4 am I decided to go back to the swaddle (kiddopotomous brand). That kinda did the trick, but I think by 4 am JR had

So Tired...
2008-06-30 07:17:10
Well, today has started off well, Eddie is outside rolling in the mud (he is a dog and we had a huge thunderstorm last night; thus he is in heaven),Little Dude is still contently playing in his crib, and JR is actually still asleep. By far, the hardest part of the day with multiple kids/babies, is the morning. At least for me. Every so often I get a good morning like this, but most of the time, Ed

My Boys
2008-06-28 08:54:33
Looking at my boys today, I am just so grateful to be blessed with them. They are safe, healthy, and I am able to stay home and enjoy every moment that God gives me with them. For those moments I am forever thankful. It is funny, but even though JR has only been home for 2 weeks, it seems like he has been part of our family forever, and we just weren't all together until he got here. Seeing my boy

Give Kids The World
2008-06-27 19:41:18
Sadly, one of my husband's co-workers has a daughter that is battling cancer. Up to a few weeks ago she was in remission; however, a recent check up showed her cancer was back even more aggressively, all over her body, and at the point where nothing can be done. Bill said she is not expected to make it even to Thanksgiving. I can't imagine the pain they are going through, and all of us that know t

My Day in 6 Words
2008-06-26 07:08:42
My blogger friend, Kelsey, has started a cool little thing called "My Life in 6 Words ". What is it? How do you do it? You have to come up with a 6 word phrase that describes your life for that day. Sounds easy, but I have been sitting here for a bit trying to think of something with ONLY 6 words, so it is kinda hard! I am finally putting that English degree to work now...My Day in 6 Words:Laughing

Toddler Discipline
2008-06-25 08:21:29
Toddler Discipline is always tricky, particularly because each child is different and each DIFFERENT child goes through the "terrible twos" differently. So, what is a parent to do when they have a toddler that doesn't respond to hand smacks or blatantly ignores spoken requests? Who doesn't care if toys are taken away? Who doesn't even mind having "time out" in his crib? This: Yes, that is Little

Adventures with Two...
2008-06-24 06:44:21
Well, yesterday started off well, and ended well, but there were some moments in between that had me pulling my hair out-mostly because I didn't have enough arms. Come to think of it, maybe that was good, otherwise my hair might be all pulled out by the extra arms I was wishing for! Little Dude is being very sweet to JR; however, he is not being as sweet to me. Yesterday he discovered the great fu

I'm Up
2008-06-23 07:38:08
Honestly, I can't believe I am up AND blogging right now...but it is amazing what a hot shower and a cup of coffee can do for a tired Mama! My mother in law went home yesterday, and Bill and John are both at work all day, so today is my first official day alone with the boys. So far today is going great, Little Dude is eating breakfast right now, and JR is due to get up soon to nurse. I got Eddie

My awesome double stroller I got from ebay for 80 dollars. Awesome. This is at the park-I had to get a picture of the boys before I let Little Dude out. You can't tell it, but Little Dude was SO EXCITED to be at the park that I am amazed he is not blurry in this picture. JR is, of course, sleeping sweetly. My handsome husband doing what he does best: being Super Daddy. I just love this picture of B

Twice the Fun
2008-06-19 22:34:04
Well, a quick update: JR is doing well, and we are hoping his jaundice is better by Sat. so he can come off the lights we have set up at the house for him. So far he is eating well, pooping well (didn't you want to know?), and sleeping well! He actually went 4 hours for me last night and the night before, so maybe tonight too...we will see! Little Dude is doing FANTASTIC with him, and even insists

2008-06-18 15:05:39
Wow guys, it was a whirlwind weekend!! I went to the Dr. Friday for a normal checkup and we found out that I had a leak in JR's amnio sack-so, instead of going out to lunch with Melissa and having play date with Jess and Kip-we headed over to the hospital to get induced!! Everything was so crazy scary for me at the time that I couldn't eat and since Little Dude was with me I had to call my brother

My Job
2008-06-13 08:11:23
So, there are many things us parents can call ourselves: ambassador of communication, world renowned mac and cheese chef, super cleaner, compassionate doctor of all ills, mediator of fights, the list can go on and on. I was thinking the other day though, that many of us parents find ourselves in an odd position that our parents and grandparents didn't have (or at least most didn't have): Most of u

Precious Momments Giveaway

My baby will be having a birthday soon. How these precious baby years seem to be passing way too quickly! As Little Dude will be 2, we are thinking he will be old enough for a party with a few little friends, some games, and kiddie fun! With that said, I also realize that we need to make the party fun for the parents as well! But with all there is to do in a day, chasing toddlers, feeding babies, w

He ate more than he stirred, but that is half the fun of it!So today I got to see my neighbor's little boy use the potty and I was very excited for him AND his mama!!When I told my brother in law about it, and how exciting it was, he laughed and shook his head at me.I suppose only a parent on the journey or about to join the journey of potty training can share
