Arcticulates: Environmental Safeguard? 2008-07-18 19:04:54 It never made sense to me to ban private vehicles from entering the park; for fear that it would mess with the serene undisturbed environmental (Ecology. the air, water, minerals, organisms, and all other external factors) atmosphere that is there. Yet send in obnoxiously loud diesel buses with loads of tourists, all day, all summer! Read more:Safeguard

Arcticulates: Mountainous Eruptivity! 2008-08-07 20:53:59 Just recently we have had another volcano called Okmok Caldera erupt in Alaska sending a cloud of ash 35,000 feet into the air. This one was on the Aleutian chain - the last time it erupted was in 1997. A geophysicist has reported ash bursts up to 50,000 feet.
Arcticulates: Grizzly Situation! 2008-07-28 23:45:12 Bears, Bears, and More Bears! Seems to be many more Bear sightings this year then I have heard of in a while. My daughter and her family traveled to Valdez for the weekend and they spotted seven Grizzly
Bear near the roadsides. This is highly unusual, we usually hear tourists complain about not seeing Bears near the roads as they travel.
Arcticulates: High One or Not? 2008-08-22 20:04:00 One of my most favorite things in Alaska is the majestic mountains. They dominate most of the interior of Alaska, and are breathtakingly beautiful. I have been to different places that have no mountains, which has made me realize that that I feel happier with mountains within my daily view.
Arcticulates: Whiff of Fall? 2008-08-19 01:43:57 It is starting to feel and smell like fall. Fall here in the Interior of Alaska seems to be quick, it is Summer one day, Fall the next and a couple days later it is Winter. Very fast! Very beautiful! So I will be devoting the next few posts on some of the interesting things about the Fall Season or what some call the Hunting Season.
Arcticulates: Glimpse of Autumn! 2008-09-12 18:01:18 While driving to Eagle River, Alaska I took a few pictures to share some of the sights to see in the 300 some odd miles to my destination. This long drive actually seems short, because there is so many things to see on along the way. Vistas of beauty everywhere you look. Read more:Autumn
Arcticulates: Chilly Reception! 2008-09-03 19:12:09 I have been feeling a definite chill in the air, a sure sign that it’s the beginning of hunting/rainy season, and downright cold nights. Good ole’ Fall in Alaska It always seems like we are “smack-dab” in the middle of the fall season, it never seems to gradually happen, it’s just “all a sudden” here!
I am sure anyone who lives here, can tell you the signs Read more:Chilly

~ SNOWFLAKE SEASON ~
We have
had our first snow of the winter season today. I got up early
around 5:30 am and there seemed to be a heavy frost on the ground,
couldn't really tell because it was still dark outside, but as the
morning grew brighter it started snowing.

Arcticulates: When Darkness Prevails! 2008-09-23 05:23:13 Wow! the nights sure seem to have gotten dark fast now that fall is in full force, no leaves left on the trees, everything looking brown and ready for the first snow cover. I was made very aware of exactly how dark it is getting. The other night while I was driving on a two lane highway, on what could be considered a main drag where I live.. I was driving around what some have labeled "dead man's Read more:Darkness
