Dame Helen is queen of small screen Oscar winner Dame Helen Mirren picked up yet another award on Tuesday night, but for once it was not for her stately portrayal of the Queen.
The actress lined up at the Royal Television Society Programme Awards where she was crowned best actress for her role as Det Supt Jane Tennison in Prime Suspect. Coronation Street won best soap at the prestigious ceremony, beating rivals Emmerdale and The Bill, with Eastenders not even nominated.

LONDON — With a packet of claims that are almost certain to defy conventional wisdom, a television documentary to be aired in Britain this week condemns man-made global warming as a myth that has become “the biggest scam of modern times.”
The program titled “The Great Global Warming
Scandal” and set for screening by TV Channel 4 on Thursday dismisses claims that high levels of greenhouse gases generated by human activity causes climate change. Instead, the program suggests that the sun itself is the real culprit.
The documentary, directed by filmmaker Martin Durkin, is at odds with scientific opinion as outlined in a United Nations report in February, which blames mankind for global warming.

Chancellor Gordon Brown has defended the changes in income tax in the Budget as “about being fair to people”.
In his 11th and almost certainly final package delivered on Wednesday, Mr Brown sprung a surprise by announcing a 2p cut in the headline rate of income tax.
But opposition parties were quick to denounce the centrepiece measure as a “con”, claiming that scrapping the bottom 10p rate would offset the benefits taxpayers received from the cut.
Speaking on GMTV, Mr Brown insisted the Budget would give more money to health, education, families and pensioners.
“I think what we’ve tried to do is make sure health and education have the money, while at the same time be fair to people, and the tax reform is about being fair to people. I think with having the two rates now it is going to be better for the future,” he said.

’s new fashion range have been snapped up by shoppers.
Around 50 shoppers poured into H&M’s flagship London branch when the collection launched to the sound of La Isla Bonita.
Some items were quickly advertised on eBay as being “sold out” despite still being stocked in stores.
An H&M spokeswoman said the M by Madonna collection was not expected to sell out on Thursday because it went on sale in all 114 of the chain’s UK outlets.
Sunglasses priced at £19.99 and kimono dresses for £39.99 were among the collection’s most popular items.
Shoppers in H&M’s Oxford Street store grabbed armfuls of the clothes after doors opened.
The collection of 30 pieces of clothing plus shoes and accessories is priced from £7.99 for turbans to £149.99 for the leather trench coats.

London Underground (LU) has condemned the action of a stuntman who skied down a Tube escalator.
Norwegian Peter Olenick hurtled down a 300ft escalator at Angel station in north London in a filmed display which was shown on the internet.
LU said: “This is a dangerous, stupid and irresponsible act that could have resulted in serious injury or death to not only the individual concerned but also other passengers.
“LU will press for the police to take the strongest possible action against anyone attempting a similar act on the Tube network.”
The film of the stunt was shot from a camera in the man’s helmet.
The producer of the film said other people were not in danger as friends of the stuntman had warned passengers away.
British Transport Police is understood to be looking into the incident.

As the girls gather for their meeting, one WAG is absent as Charlotte (Better Half) is ill. But the girls refuse to let it deter them which is just as well as the challenge is an especially hard one - to sell a range of Isabella Oliver maternity wear for just one day. It will require all the skills they’ve learnt so far and more than a bit of hard work.
