Bekal Fort 2008-08-05 00:47:00 It was noon when we reached Bekal fort. Wrong time & season - noon & summer - to visit Bekal. The place was almost deserted, with few people here and there. After roaming around the fort - peeping into the (now closed) tunnel, observation tower - we went down to the beach. Sea in this part is a bit rough & not safe for getting into water as lot of rocks are there in the beach. The fort - the bigges

Kokkare Bellur: Revisited 2008-08-25 12:25:00 Visited Kokkare Bellur again, 15 months after my first visit. There were not many birds this time. Painted Storks were around 20-25 in number.Pelicans were very less in number. I counted 7 or 8 pelicans. I tried to get a decent shot of these big birds, but in vain. That pelican was hiding behind the tree branches as if its being guilty of something :PFew of the sun-bathing Storks posed for the cam Read more:Revisited
A Coracle Ride Across The River Kapila 2008-08-20 13:14:00 "Come saar, I'll take you to the other side of the river. It's safe to play in water & take bath" called the boatman, while we were looking for some place on the crowded bank of river Kapila. Though it was 3.30PM the place was crowded, few devotees & many other trying to beat the summer heat. We decided to cross the river on the coracle to avoid the crowd & it was worth the decision. While my frie Read more:Across

It was around 3.30PM & Sri Ananthapadmanabha swamy temple was closed. We had to be content looking at the sculptures outside the temple. There were lots of sculptures of snake god (Nagarakallu, in Kannada) - of different sizes & shapes. We were t

Binsar: Rock Climbing & A Morning Walk 2008-11-10 05:22:00 By the time we reached the resort in Binsar it was post noon. Only negative point about Binsar is the amount of time needed to reach the place. It took 20 hours to reach the place which included 6 hours journey by taxi. We were warned before about the journey time & I thought day one at the resort would be spent getting some rest from the journey. On the contrary, there was no sign of tiredness at Read more:Morning
